Some items for podcast feed not updating on itunes

Hey guys,
Here is my podcast feed at podbean and itunes
http://theflyslip.podbean.com/feed/
http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/theflyslip/id509869184
1)And here are my questions. I've updated my channel title as 'Armchair Critics' but its not updated on itunes or when I check it from my iphone 4s
2)When I'm on my iphone and search for my podcast and go to the page it allows me to download individual podcasts it shows the titles of the podcast correctly
eg Armchair Critics - Ep 4x2 - blah blah blah
While Downloading the first time on my iphone it shows like this, but as soon as I DL the 2nd one the title goes to being
1 - the text after Ep 4x2, why is it dropping the Armchair Critics - Ep 4x2? I want it to show like that after downloading and viewing on my music app also(formerly iPod i think didnt have an iphone before the 4s)
3)When viewing the source of my feed I notice that for my first posts the title tags are showing as

Armchair Critics - Ep1×1 - Dilshan and Captaincy

it should be something like

Armchair Critics - Ep4×2 - Thirimanne and Indians

with 4x2, is this some sort of syntax issue, and why does it work for the latest ones and not the old ones?
4)I recently updated my image, its still not updated on itunes or when I check from my iphone, is it cuz the feed needs time to update on itunes?
5)And in general, when I make a change to the feed, how long does it take for itunes to pick up the change.
5a)Does the change happen on itunes automatically?
5b)Do I manually need to update anything? IF so how and where?
6)Also, it I wanna add more itunes tags in future like for changing date/duration etc..how do and where do I do it?

Thanks alot for your reply Roger.
I will reply with comments to my questions based on your reply
1) The title has sorted it self now on the store but not the image, looks like it has gone to some sort of default podcast image. Is it still updating? I've subscribed on a PC, what does subscribing do exactly ? I thought it would start downloading the podcasts, but nothing happened and I had to manually DL them. Again no image...
2) The text getting cut off before the x, eg 4x2 blah blah becoming 2 blah blah on iphone.
Some background - I added the feed to itunes last week. Did not look at it until yesterday. And all my titles for the podcast had the 2x1 , 2x2 in them from the start - from when I created the episodes in podbean. I only started updating yesterday (again on podbean) cuz it was not showing up ok on the iPhone. SO should it not have worked from the start ? Or am I missing somehting?
Do you think the html code for multiplication is causing it to cut off the text before the x ?
4) As stated above the image is still not visible to me on itunes after subscribing on a PC. What image do you see by the way ? It should be this?
http://www.uh.edu/uhdistance/frieden/image12.gif
5 & 6) How do you re-upload the feed ? Since I made the update to the image, do I need to re-upload it to make it work? Is that why its not showing up still ?
Again thanks for the help. Definitely helpful mate.

the last date is 2010/10/21 and daily update
Why? Is there any thing wrong in the feed url?
Thank you!

I'm afraid I can't make any sense of this. the iTunes Store page lists 301 episodes from 12 January 2010 to 17 June 2010. If you click on the 'subscribe free' button your iTunes application subscribes to the feed at the URL you give, which contains rather fewer episodes from 17 September 2010 to 22 October 2010 (today).
It's not unknown for something in the feed to be OK with the application but not the Store, but the feed validates in FeedValidator and I can't see anything wrong with it - it's almost impossible to read as it's all on one line, but it doesn't seem to contain any of the usual culprits.
The only explanation which would make any sense (and which doesn't seem to be the case) would be if the feed had been complete only to 17 June until a few days ago, and you only recently replaced it with the current set of episodes: it normally takes 1-2 days for changes to appear (so even under normal circumstances today's episodes wouldn't appear yet in the Store, only on subscribing). Since your feed contains episodes back to September this doesn't seem to apply, but I can't see any other reason.

• Our RSS Feeds for our Podcasts have not updated in iTunes since October

We have three Podcasts established with iTunes. All three stopped showing updates on the iTunes website at the end of October in spite of the fact that we update them weekly. I have run them through a feed validator and everything appears to be fine.

These are the URLs that I have used to link to them on our website. When you visit these URLs, there is nothing past October 27th.

There is no obvious reason why this should be happening. The November episodes show OK when subscibing and the feeds look OK. Sometimes the Store does seem to get stuck and not update for some time, and I'm afraid that that may be what has happened here. It usually sorts itself out eventually, but it's very frustrating.
You could try emailing Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to try to do something about it, but to be honest I rather doubt you'll get a helpful answer.

• ITunes podcast feed not updating

My podcast feed was broken in January. It is now working again, but iTunes is not picking it up. Do I have to do something to re-start it and get it working again?
When I go to iTunes and find my podcast, it shows all the most recent podcasts up until late January (and none of the recent ones). (please note I have two podcasts which appear identical - one is mp3 and one is m4a feed...I plan to delete the m4a feed asap)
Interestingly, when I subscribe to the feed in the iTunes store,it shows only then ONE most recent podcast (which doesn't even appear in the list as described in the previous paragraph).
The feed address is: http://www.wilymanager.com/feed/podcast/?wpmfeedkey=1;292f771b94206b1dd91b4a301f 03c5d6
Would greatly appreciate any help.
Thanks
Sue

The feed you link to is entitled 'Wily Manager MP3 Feed'. Searching on 'Wily Manager' in the Store brings up two podcasts, both called only 'Wily Manager'.
The one at http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/wily-manager/id351213931 is looking for a feed at:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/wilymanager/mp3
The one at http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/wily-manager/id351231957 is looking for a feed at:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/wilymanager/m4a
There is no feed at either of these addresses: basically you've been updating a feed at the wrong address. Since iTunes cannot find a feed in either case it cannot update the Store page, and subscribing produces an error.
I don't know how you've got to the feed with the complex URL but it's not being used by iTunes. You need to be able to go back to having a feed at the URL I give above.

• Podcast feed not updating, Podcast feed not updating

Hi,
For a few months my podcast hasn't been updating on iTunes. I can't re-submit the feed as it says it already exists. What do I do?
Thanks,
Mike

It's not really possible to comment unless you would like to publish the URLs of both your feed and the Store page - this latter can be found by control-clicking on the podcast image (or where it should be) - and choosing 'Copy link'. Please include the http:// in both cases to make the links clickable.

• Podcast feed not updating since Nov 10

Since Nov 10 I have posted 7 new podcasts.
They are showing up here:
www.nlmnorth.com/podcasts/podcast.php
But not in the iTunes store or Podcast app.
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/newlife-ministries/id288969603
Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I think I've been updating it as I always have. Unless I've accidentally missed something.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The Store is looking for a feed at
http://www.nlmnorth.com/podcasts/podcasts.php
however there is no file at this address. Consequently it's showing a cached version of the last time it was able to read the feed. You have been updating a feed at
http://www.nlmnorth.com/podcasts/podcast.php

• Dreamweaver Teamplate with Library Item for Navigation/Sidebar not updating editable classes

I have a Dreamweaver Template that contains two Library items. One Library item is my navigation bar, the other is a sidebar that shows different content depending on what page you are on. I'm assigning an editable class "active" to the navigation bar to show you are on a particular page, and also assigning the editable class "active" to the sidebar to reveal a portion of the sidebar with links pertaining to that specific page. The default value for the class is "hidden". So what is happening is when I open a page I have created and "edit" the Library Items in it to edit these classes, it resets resets all the other pages on the site to the default class values. How am I able to use editable classes and Library Items to achieve this kind of functionality? The idea is to only have ONE navigaton bar to update on the site and to only have ONE sidebar item to update. Here is an example of the sidebar and navigation in action so you can see what I'm going for. Notice the green button in the navigation bar (that is a list item with the class "active" which is an editable class in the Library Item, also notice the tan links in the sidebar, that is an unordered list that has an editable class of "active" in the Library Items --- these editable classes reset to their defaults when updating the Library Item on the website).
http://www.brumleve.org/joe/temp/CAP/mission.html

In my understanding, whenever you edit the contents of a library item, it will update all other occurances of this library item on the rest of the site. That's "working as designed" as far as I know, unless you break the link by telling it to not update - which kinda defeats the purpose I think.
But theres another way to do this using template properties, i#ve been using this approach myself a couple of times:
Write your navigation bar in the template (.dwt) file itself, then select the class= of your first menu item and choose .. (names might be off, I am using a non-English copy of DW): "modify > template > make attribute editable" from the main menu. Do so for all your menu items and name these new template properties something like "item_x_class"
You'll end up with something like this in your template source:

and a matching
in the header
Now, on each page, you can set the class within the template properties dialog ("modify > template properties"). If your main menu changes, it won't overwrite your template properties, but still update all pages when you do make a change to the menu.
If you're using multiple templates for your site, consider nesting templates, so the master template already includes your navbar and all subsequent templates will "inherit" changes to the navbar code (sans the editable class property).
Hope this helps.. or at least gives you an idea for further experiments..

• Podcast feed not updating correctly in iTunes Music Store

Hi. I doubt anyone is able to help with this question, but this is where Apple "support" directed me...
I've created a podcast feed:
http://wwf.org.au/podcasts/rss
I've registered it with the iTunes Store:
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=168761907
We added a new item to the feed yesterday and it is not appearing in the iTunes Store feed. Subscribing to the feed manually (that is using the feed from our website) works fine, correctly showing the three items. But the iTunes Store feed only shows two items.
I clicked the "Report a concern" link in iTunes but it went 404 (resource not found).
If anyone can shed any light on why this might be happening, and more importantly how I might be able to fix it, that would be much appreciated.
N/A iTunes Music Store, iTunes 7, podcast, rss
N/A iTunes Music Store, iTunes 7, podcast, rss

48 hours later and it's finally appeared in the store...

• Podcast feed not working in iTunes

Hi there,
I am trying to get a podcast feed for a client set up to work in iTunes. About the setup:
This is a self-hosted wordpress site, using the feedburner/SmartCast to create iTunes-friendly feeds. The site does use HTTPS as parts of it handle credit card processing.
Here is the feed XML (Chrome): view-source:http://feeds.feedburner.com/UnderTenFitness
Here is the feed link: http://feeds.feedburner.com/UnderTenFitness
The feed validates at http://castfeedvalidator.com/ and http://validator.w3.org/. Other podcast services pick it up just fine. Just iTunes. I've tried testing it by manually subscribing to it in iTunes, and the episodes/meta load fine, but the audio files neither play nor download. I also can't seem to find any kind of error message to describe what the hold up seems to be - just the ! next to the episode. I can briefly see a window that says "Connecting" but it dies right away.
Any insight into what's going wrong here would be much appreciated. I've added MIME types to the server for MP3 files, about to change the main icon from PNG to JPEG on some random recommendation that sometimes iTunes doesn't like PNG files.
I've also tried:
taking the media link outside the audio player shortcode and just putting it in as href
using both http:// and https:// for the media link
I'm sure I've missed something basic here - but my experience with podcasting prior to this project was "I like to listen to them." So any suggestions appreciated.
Regards,
Hannah

The problem lies with the media files rather than the feed. The URL given for your top media file is
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/UnderTenFitness/~5/cn0Ui9M2FyI/2015-01-27-Psorias is-Natural-Remedies.mp3
This redirects to
https://www.undertenfitness.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/2015-01-27-Psoriasis- Natural-Remedies.mp3
The first URL works when you enter it in a browser, but on subscribing iTunes refuses to play it. These redirects using Feedproxy can cause problems, though they don't always, and frankly I would advise avoiding its use and providing a direct URL to the media file. Furthermore the URL for the actual file begins with https (secure connection) and this is also asking for trouble. Sometimes it works, but it's better avoided. Just removing the 's' so that it's http works with some servers but it appears not to hear. So you need to look into the matter of hosting your media files.

• New Podcast Episode Not Updating in iTunes

Hello Apple Community,
My name is Sara Simms, I have recently started a new DJ podcast series called Flight. My new episode has not updated yet in the iTunes store (its been over three days since I uploaded it)
My podcast episodes are hosted here:
http://sarasimms.blogspot.ca
My Feedburner URL is:
feed://feeds.feedburner.com/sarasimmsflightofficialpodcast
I also uploaded new artwork via Feedburner, in the 'Podcast' section of iTunes I see the artwork has updated.
However, in the iTunes store itself, the new artwork is not displayed. Here is the link to my iTunes podcast:
http://bit.ly/VM8tcF
I just pinged Feedburner, hopefully this helps to update everything.
Could anyone else please let me know if there's anything else I should check/change to make sure my podcast episodes are updating?
Thank you in advance!
Best wishes,
Sara Simms

Your second episode has a media file referenced at http://sarasimms.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/flight_episode_two
This works when the URL is entered in a browser, but at the URL has no extension (.mp3) iTunes does not see it as being a media file and thus does not display the episode. You need to give a full URL including the extension, as you have done for your first episode.
You are mixing episodes with and without media files - there are a lot of earlier episodes which don't have media files - these won't show in iTunes. If blogger limits the number of episodes shown in the feed, these will count towards that limit which could result in episodes not showing in iTunes once you have added enough episodes to trigger the limit.

• Libsyn feed not updating on iTunes

Hi, I'm a noob with rss so I'm sorry if this causes a yawn or two but it's alien to me. Last week I published an ep and didn't update on iTunes. I use libsyn and feedburner. That's the feed http://thenoteshow.libsyn.com/rss it says 'The URL does not appear to reference a valid XML file. We encountered the following problem: Error on line 39: The element type "description" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "
".
I use that feed in feedburner. Last week I uploaded an episode then reuploaded it when I'd shortened it, which at first I did a few times. I'm not sure if that is what caused it or not.
Thank you for your time!

Your feed was not validating due to some Java script code in the description field for eps 7 and 5.
The code was:

I removed this code from your descriptions and now it is validating fine.
http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fthenoteshow.libsyn.com%2Frss
Do not add java script code to your description field - RSS aggregators like iTunes do not like that.
I would recommend you go into your libsyn account and under destinations / then "libsyn classic feed" add in the info for your iTunes category and other iTunes elements.
Then in Feedburner make sure you have smartcast turned off.
Regards,
Rob W

• Podcast feed not updating for weeks

Hi there,
I recently have fixed the errors that occured in our feed for the Chonilla.com (podcast and blog) I use wordpress powerpress by blubrry.
Our itunes address is http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=374975394
Our feed url: http://www.chonilla.com/?feed=podcast
I have had a few of our subscribers showing some concerns that they are unable to get the latest episodes which is from 77 to 83. Your site currently only shows from 0001 to 0076.
I need some assistance and was wondering if there was anything the amazing MAC team can help us?
I hope to hear from you soon.
Peace and Chonilla love!

I'm afraid I can't be of much help. Your feed appears to be OK, and on subscribing all the episodes are visible. However the Store, which caches the feed, hasn't read it since episode 76. I can't see anything to suggest why this should be; the only thing I noticed which might be relevant is that the feed is slow to load, so I suppose it's possible that the Store isn't giving it long enough to respond and deciding that it's not there. That's a guess; I would have though they would have allowed a longer timeout, but I don't know whether that's the problem. The feed is a bit messy in places, but there doesn't seem to be anything different in the episodes from 77 onwards.
You could try asking iTunes Support - they often aren't as helpful as one would wish (they have a tendency to send stanadard answersor refer you back here) but it's worth trying. Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options.

• Podcast feed not updating

I have had a podcast posting once a week for the last month. All of a sudden this week's post hasn't updated either on my podcast app on my phone -- which in the past has updated immediately -- or on the iTunes site. Nothing appears to be different with this latest post (2.7.13) compared to the others. Not sure what is going on. Can any of you help?
Here's the feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/InsideTheBearcatsPodcast

Hi Roger-
new to this forum. Not even sure I am posting in the right spot? first of all thank you...seems you are helping alot of folks like me navigate the waters around here! i just have a quick question as a newbie... (story) i have been submitting podcast to another entity for free and getting a great response. have over 22,500 fb friends for the show and i am told about 10thousand a month dowloading podcast? my problem is that this other entity is not very good with getting my shows up in a timely manner and is keeping all ad revenue. this year i have decided to host my own etc. they have my old shows in archive on itunes and that's fine, but i have now created my own account...with the same show name, but instead of their company name it now includes my name (the host) as the secondary by line. MY question is that i just set up everything (by the book/letter) as far as i can tell to host my own account on itunes. i am now in the two week waiting period as of today.
1) am i going to have to wait two weeks for each show?
2) will i beable to add the rest of my archive podcasts? for some reason it only allowed me to upload one?
3) and will i only recieve my feed Id that apple is to provide ONCE they approve the first podcsast?
THANKS FOR THE HELP and sorry if ALL or any of this sounds like "rookie" questioning.
