Some JPG windows & iWeb workspace window greyed out over screen sharing

Just purchased a Mac mini running Snow Leopard v10.6.1. After attaching this mini on my LAN, I have set it up as a "server" on my network (ie. no keyboard/mouse/monitor attached), and access it only via Screen Sharing. The machine (an MBAir) I usually access this new mini from runs Leopard v10.5.8.
After setting the mini up this way, I have noticed some windows in Preview and iWeb come up as a greyed out windows. The files open normally, and applications seem to function normally. They just do not display any of the graphics. Some other PDFs I have on that server-mini open up fine. When I attach a keyboard/mouse/monitor, they all display properly once again.
I have reset the PRAM, fiddled with the color/display preferences of the applications and system, and searched through this forum for similar issues, but I have found none. I am thinking it is an issue between Leopard and Snow Leopard, but before I upgrade one of my other machines to check the screen sharing (and possibly opening up more issues), I thought I would post here to see if anyone has any advice prior to my next step.

I have only used screen sharing with a third party vnc viewer such as http://www.jinx.de/JollysFastVNC.html
If you find a solution with the Apple software you could give this a try.

Why does my "save as" window grey out?

Why does my FireFox 3.6.13 "save as" window grey out when I'm trying to save a file? (Actually it's light blue as opposed to the standard Windows Title Bar blue.) No matter what I try to click on within the box or the red X kill button, nothing is activated. I can move the window around but that's it.
I can Ctrl-Tab my way around my open tabs but the save as window is still front and center. I can press the Alt key and scroll down to Exit but Firefox still shows up in Task Manager. In fact, if I try to restart FF after Exiting, I get a message saying something to the effect that FF is still running and must be closed out before it can be restarted.
At first this was happening (started about 10 days ago) when saving a screenshot with a screen capture extension that I've been using for years so I uninstalled it. But now it's happening way too often, even when simply saving something as simple as an html file.
I've reinstalled 3.6.13 but to no avail. There is no correlation between any recently installed extensions (I uninstalled them all). So I'm perplexed. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If there was an interruption during the initial iTunes Match process and you are now having issues with playback and album art, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful. In particular, you may want to turning iTunes Match off, then back on again, as noted here:
If iTunes Match is already enabled on your computer or device, try turning iTunes Match off and then on again.
Mac: While holding down the option key, choose Store > Turn Off iTunes Match.
Turn iTunes Match on by selecting Store > Turn On iTunes Match.
Windows: While holding down the shift key, choose Store > Turn Off iTunes Match.
Turn iTunes Match on by selecting Store > Turn On iTunes Match.

Are you working on a background layer? If so, Ctrl + T will not work. Press Alt and double-click your background layer to convert to a normal layer (or right-click BG layer and select Layer from Background) and try again.
If you're working in Photoshop CC 2014 you can go to Preferences > Experimental Features and tick "Scale UI 200% for high-density displays" to make your buttons and icons larger.

WebLogic as Windows 2000 service over s shared file system

I am trying to install weblogic as a Windows 2000 service over a
shared file system with no sucess
(the shared fie system is provided by windows 2000 cluster services).
I am using the srvany utility to have the script that launches
weblogic be run as a service (I need this
because I must launch 2 instances of weblogic in the same machine
as services, i cannot do this
with the bea service tools, having different configurations for
the classpath, or can I?)
The service works if weblogic is not installed in a shared file
system.
On the shared file system, it fails (The service fails, is unabble
to start). I also made a script on the local file
system, that calls the weblogic script on the shared file system,
but weblogic fails to start (with no
message) when loading from the weblogic.classpath

Why are some of my Time Machine windows greyed out?

When I enter Time Machine, some of the windows (say Finder windows) are white and I can access them for a restore. Others are greyed out (actually a purple color) and I cannot access them, even though they are relevant to my User files i.e. not someone else's. There are two standard users on this laptop, plus a User with Administrator rights plus a guest User.
The same pattern of windows appears in each of the other Users.
Not a desperate issue at the moment, but I am interested to know why.

The unavailable snapshots don't include the folder from which you're entering Time Machine. Start from the top-level view in the Finder that shows all volumes connected to the computer. Enter Time Machine and then descend to the folder you want to restore from.

Firefox 4.01 downloads files but the downloads windows greys out the "Open" and "Open containing folder" options and I can't trace the files

Three days ago I upgraded to Firefox 4.01. I downloaded several files that were ok. Yesterday and today I downloaded one powerpoint file and a an apple *.dmg file.
On the Download window these two files I can see with the total mb in size. However when I right click the file list in the Download window the "Open" and "Open containing folder" options are greyed out. What is more I cannot find these files anywhere on my computer when I use Windows Explorer to search.
It seems that this happened after I tried to download a Firefox add on from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/addons/64761/amazonassist-0.7.2.6-fx.xpi and my antivirus picked up the JS/Kryptik.AK trojan and terminated the connection. Is there a link with the problem I am experiencing?

Watch Window greyed out

Hallo
When running in debug mode I got the breakpoints in the code, everything with the watch window is greyed out, even if I right click on a variable the add to Watch is greyed out.
I've done a Tools ---> Import Export Setting ---> Reset defaults.
Probably must be installed or added or ticked to be enabled?

But from the screen shot, it seems that the breakpoint was not hit.
Maybe two screen shots would be better for us to discuss this issue.
I create a Winform app which will call another form in another winform app, if the breakpoint is hit, I could add a value to the Watch window like this screen shot.
I also debug the app, but if the breakpoint is not hit, I would get the same issue as yours, the watch window is greyed out.
So please make sure that the breakpoint is hit before you real view the Watch window. In addition, please open your Breakpoint window under Debug->Windows, maybe the breakpoint is hit in other projects in the same solution.
If still no help, please share me a simple sample with one drive, I will debug it in my side.

All iWeb options are greyed-out, and can't make a new sites or pages.

I am having a very annoying problem with iWeb. Every option is greyed-out! I can't make a new page or site, and it quits as soon as I close the iWeb window. It is version 1.1.2 I have tried installing useless updates for iWeb that did nothing, and I've tried to open iWeb from iPhoto by clicking the iWeb button, which also did nothing. I'm just about to give up on it.
Can anybody please point me in the right direction or have a fix for this? All help will be appreciated!

The answer to your problem isn't necessarily the simplest, but I'm 99% sure that it will work for you.
You need to delete and reinstall iWeb. Not hard to do; you just need your installation DVD's that came with your machine.
Drag the iWeb.app from your Applications folder to the trash. Spotlight for other elements of iWeb, and trash those as well. Empty the trash and restart your machine.
On your recovery disks, as you move through the prompts, look for "Install bundled software". Customize the install to include only iWeb. After reinstalling iWeb you will be back to 1.0.1.
Update the app to 1.1.1 directly from this link:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/iweb111.html
This will get you going, and you can update to 1.1.2 when you are sure everything is working properly. For other FAQ on iWeb, please see this link:

Iphone 5C wifi greyed out and screen going crazy

Hi I bought my iPhone back in October in Us from Tmobile, since December the wifi greyed out and hasn't worked once (been living on data) now recently the screen goes crazy, it types by its self unlocks the phone (dont have a password) sometimes calls people etc... now the thing is I recently moved to Dubai and I cant go to a apple store as we do not have one here, so could I ship my phone to States and have apple repair it or give me a replacement if I pay for their shipping costs back to Dubai ? Thanks for any help I can get

If not jailbroken, restore the iOS. Most likely there is a hardware problem
The warranty is valid only in the USA. Apple will not accept shipment from or ship to any address outside the USA for this phone.

Changing the Computer Name... when it's greyed out in the Sharing Prefs?

Okay, here's a weird one.
Using Carbon Copy Cloner 3, I recently cloned the hard drive on my iBook G4 (OS X 10.5.4)—it was dying and I needed to swap in a new one. I made the swap, using the cloned version of my old drive, and everything was wonderful.
The new drive is great. The only artifact of the change is that when I see my iBook on a network, instead of the original computer name (let's call it +David's iBook+ for argument's sake), I get +David's iBook_1+. When I go to the Sharing Preferences pane, in the field where I should get my good old iBook's name, I get that _1 tacked on again, and instead of being able to edit it, the name is greyed out!
The hostname is fine. I can edit that. But the computer name refuses to be changed by any of the normal methods. I could probably go into Terminal and edit the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfigurations/preferences.plist file. But I get the feeling that there's something else going on here.
Any thoughts?
(I'm now wishing I'd just restored using Time Machine. Old habits die hard.)

Thanks! I should have mentioned that I'd already tried that. Several times. There are no other computers with the same name as mine on either my home or office network.
I can click on the "Edit" button and change the name to "David.local" or whatever, and it'll stay that way—but it doesn't show up on the LAN. When I look for the computer over the network—either using Bonjour or the Apple-K command in the Finder—it shows up with its old name. If I try to connect with "David.local" (or whatever), I get an error saying the server can't be found.
Since posting, I've also tried logging in as the root user and changing it there. No dice.
I had to replace the hard drive (the reformatting that caused me to clone the disk in the first place turned out not to solve the problem, which was that the hard drive was failing); for a week I was using an external drive clone as the startup disk for my iMac. It let me change the name there just as it should have. No more +David's iBook_1+. Woohoo!
But when I copied the disk back onto my brand new internal drive... There it was again. Greyed out. Can't get at it.
Grrrrrr.
Again, it's not a big deal; I want to change the name so that it fits the naming convention at my office. But it's really bugging me! (Obviously.)
I suppose I could reinstall and migrate the accounts and apps over....

J2RE Making Windows Flip Out Scrambling Screen

Using Dell GX270 Machines Update Java to latest version. Everything seems to work fine. But when Launching Java in Web pages on occasion the whole screen Scrambles. tool bars on top of screen. windows flickering Machine Locking up etc.. sometimes you can Alt+F4 the application if you are lucky. Mostly you just have to reboot the machine..
After reading through posts I think these Machines have ATI Video cards. Do I need to upgrade the Drivers? or Someone had posted turning off Video Acceleration inside of Java but dont seem to see that option in the control Panel under Java Plugin. Do I put something in the java Runtime Paramaters section under advanced? This happends sporaticly on several machines. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Greyed out 'Connecting' screen when connected to wifi.

Hello,
So I am in need of some help, last night my iPhone 3GS started acting up when connected to my WiFi setup. Basically when I was connected and I loaded up Safari or any other problem which needed to connect to the web a grey screen would appear with the 'Connecting...' words appearing. Nothing then happens.
I've done some research and I've tried a few of the solutions to this problems folks say have worked. Including resetting the network settings, restoring the iPhone through iTunes and a few others. None have worked and I'm finding it all rather confusing, worked fine till last night. Not exactly sure what's set it off but it's starting to get on my nerves.
Even now the 3GS is showing me that it is connected to the wifi network, yet when I go on safari and try to search something it goes grey with the connecting words appearing. I've also checked my wifi address bar in the ABOUT section of the settings and it seems perfectly ok to me. A wifi address is displayed.
Anyone have any ideas on what exactly could be causing this?

That individual is full of bull excrement.
The iPhone has always turned off Wi-Fi when in sleep mode. The only way to get Wi-Fi to stay on when in Sleep mode is to either be actively using it (such as streaming audio) or to leave the device plugged into external power.

Why? Just use the device and use Wi-Fi when available. If your data plan is not sufficient for your usage, pick a larger data plan or turn off cellular data when you do not want to "waste" data by having the device randomly connect. The iPhone is designed to be always connected which means it will use a significant amount of data. If that is not what you want, then the iPhone may not be the device for you.
