Some links won't come up

I've been experiencing a strange behavior with Safari. Some links start to execute but the screen stays blank. What could be causing this behavior? Are there some add-ins that are not present?

If you are running v10.6.4 as your profile indicates, there are updates available. Click your Apple menu / Software Update.
Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. Could be an Extension that's preventing the pages to load.
And from your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Deselect: Enable plug-ins.
Quit Safari (Command + Q) relaunch Safari. If pages load from a link, then follow instructions here for troubleshooting third party unsupported Safari add ons.

Also, login to another user account on your Mac. Try links from Safari there. If the same thing happens, it's possible the startup disk needs repairing. Help here for that.

Can no longer open two Firefox tabs at the same time. Will disappear from screen but won't close - have to go to Task Bar/ Processes to close it, some links won't activate on websites. As suggested in the support area I have gone through the process of backing up my profile, deleted existing profile, removed firefox from computer, reinstalled profile in fresh folder, reinstalled firefox 6. I have done this twice for no effect - may work as it used to for a while (30mins) then gets back to its old tricks.
It is a bit irritating.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

Firefox froze up. So I removed from computer and reloaded. If I close Firefox, can't restart by clicking on the icon. Have to end process in Task Manager. It then starts. Some links on some web pages won't work.

As I say in the question I don't know what happened but Firefox just stopped operating and then became erratic. So I removed the firefox programme from my computer and reloaded Firefox.
It now runs normally but I can't run Firefox on two tabs, only one, and if I close it down during a session I can't reopen it using the desk top icon. I go to task manager, processes, and end process for Firefox - then I can start it using the icon on the desktop.
I have also noticed that some links on a web page won't work - javascript is involved.

It sounds like you are getting in a hurry.
If you force Firefox to close in a hurry, then it won't normally start until you re-start the computer. There are ways around this, but I'm not going to go into them right now.
None-force way to close Firefox down: Close the program and wait. Do something else. Firefox appears as if it is closed, but it's not. Firefox cleans out cookies and it's cache after you close it. That takes a few minutes. You can't restart it while it's doing house cleaning.
After it is done, then you can restart Firefox normally. You can watch it in the Task Manager.
The same applies if you are installing javascript. You have to wait a few minutes.
As for running it with multiple tabs, I usually have 5 or 6, or more, tabs open at a time. Have no idea what the problem is there. Firefox needs special permission by use of a pop-up option to close with multiple tabs open.

Your question seems a bit vague to me though. So can you actually inform us of what it is you are trying to do and give us examples with named kit.

Some u-tube links won't open

SOME u-tube links won't open in a mail message. I get a message saying 'an error occurred, try again later'.
They never open 'later'. Is there a work-around, or do I need a plug-in or something.

The forum software says you are using Firefox 19, can you update to Firefox 22 and see if this is fixed, is not can you try the super-beta verion of firefox, espically if youve upgraded to 4.3 it may be causing some problems.

Try Single User mode (Command+S while starting up).
Then, run fsck.
At the command-line prompt type:
/sbin/fsck -fy
Press Return. fsck will go through five "phases" and then return information about your disk's use and fragmentation. Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:
** The volume (name_of_volume) appears to be OKIf fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:
***** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED *****
Important: If this message appears, repeat the fsck command you typed in step 2 until fsck tells you that your volume appears to be OK (first-pass repairs may uncover additional issues, so this is a normal thing to do).
When fsck reports that your volume is OK, typerebootat the prompt and then press Return.
Your computer should start up normally and allow you to log in.

Safari won't follow some links

i'm developing a site in rails... testing the app locally works fine in firefox and safari. if i deploy to my remote server though, safari refuses to follow some links, and fails to obey some server-side redirects.
the links are nothing out of the ordinary, like
http://myserver.com/blog/2;edit
if i tell safari to open in a new window, then the "Activity" window will show the URL with a status of "error" but no more information. these URLs all point to very plain xhtml pages... nothing i can think of to explain this behavior, especially given that safari has no problem when i'm serving from localhost.
any ideas?

no ideas, but seeing it all the time too. generally it's when i hit a post button or submit certain forms. It does not correct itself going back or whatever. i just lose my post (***** when it's a long one) bounce over to firefox and no problem. give a safari can't open page window.

click two times your home button to see the apps that are open. Hold the camera app until it jiggles and a minus sign appears. Press the minus sign.
Close your phone, then open it and click on the camera app. Everything will be ok

Some YouTube links won't open

Sometimes a YouTube link won't open in a message in Apple Mail. The YouTube window opens when the link is clicked, but after trying to start the movie, says: "an error occurred, please try again later". I checked the finder-window-activity pane as ordered, and there were 6 of about 20 items that said "forbidden" in red letters. It gave no instructions on how to fix them, however.
These same links open on our MacBook laptop and iPad with no problem! What gives?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

External links won't work once published

Hi, I'm self taught so don't always understand everything and I'm a complete novice with iWeb, used Front Page before getting a Mac.
I'm in the process of building a new website using iWeb and I'm having problems with getting links to external pages to work. They work fine in iWeb. 'Enable as a hyperlink' and 'make hyperlinks active' is ticked for all links. I've formatted the links to be coloured red, then orange when visited and blue with an underline on roll over, grey if disabled. All works fine in iWeb but then when I publish the links won't work. They will momentarily and then they won't. If I refresh the page then one or two will work but when you go back to the page they won't work again. I've deleted them all and redone them, still the same problem. Tried it in Safari and Firefox, same problem. Deleted the site from the server and republished, same problem. Anyone got any ideas?
On the page in question I have a widget to SkyScanner, thought that was maybe causing a conflict. Deleted it and republished, same problem.

Also I have another couple of questions. How do you resample images? I have used a background image on the pages and I've managed to get it to stay static by altering the code slightly but don't know how to resample it so that the page will load quickly. Ditto with all the rest of my images. Don't want to have to resize them all manually if possible. Also, with the background image I don't know what size I should make it if I was to do it manually.
Last question... How do you change the title of your page and add a favicon?

IPhone 5 Won't Come On ??

As I do every single night, and multiple times during the day (My phone hasnt't stayed charged since I purchased it brand new), I plug my phone in to charge. This morning I wake up and grab my phone to find it won't come on. So, like any normal person, I try several other chargers, and wall outlets to find that my iPhone has, in a sense, died. I've tried everything from hard reset (Home button & Power button mashed down) to normal power on and off, and nothing. My phone has been in an Otter Box since I purchased it in December of 2012. It's never been in water, it's been dropped maybe once or twice from my lap to the ground, like anyone elses has. From day one my iPhone has glitched. Glitches ranging from blank screening, apps closing themself, phone controlling itself & opening and closing apps and messages, to not staying charged but for an hour, or the fact that my power button only selectively works (hense why Verizon won't give me a replacement "It's not fully broken"). All in all, I hate my iPhone, but I have a 3 month old daughter with very important phone calls needing to be recieved from her doctors, etc. & so I really need my phone to work.
Regardless, has anyone else experianced this issue? Or how did you fix it?

Some of the albums in the Beatles package I downloaded from itunes will not sync with my iPhone 5. Some songs won't play. They did sync to my iPad and they all play on my iPad. What can I do? I've already deleted all songs from the iPhone and re-synced.

I downloaded the entire Beatles collection from iTunes in 2011. Some songs skip and won't play. Some albums won't sync to the phone but they sync to my iPad. I've deleted the entire music library from my iPhone, shut the phone down, turned the phone on and synced again to add the music but now 2 albums won't even sync (Rubber Soul and Revolver). I've tried dragging the songs to the iPhone, no luck. Any thoughts?

Sounds like you may need to re-download the entire albums from iTunes. See this KB article for how to download past purchases: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.
I'd suggest doing it one album at a time. Delete one, download it from your purchase histor, then the next, etc.

HT1423 the memory-access door won't come off, HELP!

I have a mid-2007 iMac with 1 GB of ram and i'm trying to replace it, but the memory-access door won't come off. i loosen the screw with a screw driver but it won't open and i don't know why. i want to upgrade to 4 GB.
is there some trick to opening it thats not stated in this article? please help me, i don't know what to do :-( i really need to get lion on this thing and can't do that without a RAM update.
