Some mail folders show title, but no content

I updated to Mavericks. In Mail, I see my folders, but inside the folders, it shows my emails, but the do not show the email contents. Can anyone help?

Try quitting the mail app buy double tapping the home button and swiping up to close it. Then open mail again to download the message again.

Photostream in the cloud only keeps photos from the last 30 days (subject to a 1,000 photo limit). When photostream syncs the photos to your device they will stay there until deleted, which means you may well have more photos in your photostream album on your device than there are in photostream in the cloud.
The consequence of this is that if you turn photostream off and on again on your device (or enable it for the first time), it will only be populated with photos from the last 30 days, which may not be all the photos that were previously in the photostream album on that device.

Other times the Wi-Fi connection works fine and it check e-mail or other within few seconds. The connection problems seems to be intermitted
This issue never happened before with IOS 5 since I bought the new phone in Oct 2011.

We suffered the imap.gmail.com server problem After an IoS 6 upgrade. The simple solution is to delete the problem account, shut down the iPad, start up again and reenter the account. Everything comes back normally. Good Luck everyone!

Restored mail account and subject shows up but no content

I was having problems with my e-mail not getting delivered 100% correctly and I was looking for the problem. I use Mail and had not had any problems until just the last week or so sporatically. I noticed that I had both a Comcast mailbox and a comcast.net mailbox(same address/account)on my iMac. I decided that may be the root of my problem and further noticed that one mailbox had subject but no content to the message. I decided to delete that account and keep the other account that had all the messages and the content. Unfortunately I stupidly didn't archive the mailbox.
I moved the mail to the trash, but didn't delete it until I checked to see if the other account was working properly. It seemed to be fine, so I deleted the mailbox. Fast forward until today when I went into Mail to work on a draft I started yesterday. The header was there, but there was no message content for any of my inbox, sent or draft or junk from 3 years of messages.
I do backup my work, so I went to Time Machine and got the plist & mail folder from the day before and it restored perfectly. All the e-mails were there, but there was no content to the messages, just the headers from the last 3 years.
Can anybody tell me if I'm just SOL for the content of those e-mails or if there is a fix I don't know about . Thanks very much in advance

I am having the same behaviour you describe but found that sometimes the contents of the message would be displayed in the preview panel. On other days, the preview panel would be empty (as if there was no text) but it would appear once I open the message (it would appear then in both, the opened window AND the preview panel).
I know you put this down as 'solved' but in my view it's a bug. My way of getting around it is to close mail and reboot the machine...just like in the old days of using Windows.

Videos not playing. shows title but black screen

I am having trouble playing purchased movies, TV's shows, music video etc. When I click on them the play screen pops up showing title and controls but won't play. Just shows a blank screen. I have a Mac book air purchased last year.

What formats are your videos? Not all TV shows can be played in iTunes or QuickTime. If you get some videos,music videos but cannot play them on your Mac, you can convert them to QuickTime MOV, which is certainly playable on Mac, just have a try. You can use this MOV Converter in Apple strore.

My filed mail folders not restored, but I have them on another HD can I move them over ?

OK ... this was my own fault (owning up)
I took backup with Mozback up .. but it did not backup my filed/stored mail.
So after a clean install of OS when I retored profile email OK and inbox but none of my filed mails form Local folders.
However previously they were on another HDD ... so I do have access to them all.
i.e they are in:
E:\Users\Rick-old\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\20619x3p.default\Mail
there are 3 folders in that Mail folder all containing what appear to be valid mails.
My current new Thunderbird install mail folders are in:
C:\Users\Rick\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\4ttn729w.default\Mail

Can I just move them over, or is there a correct way to do it to ensure I don't mess up folder structure or mail dates.

is the home of Local Folders
copying one lot over the other with Thunderbird closed will replace one with the other.

Some Mail messages show html code

I am using Mail 6.2 and Gmail IMAP. Some Mail that I move from my Inbox to another Mail folder part of the message appears in html code in the folder where I moved the message. The html code did not appera while the message was in my In Box. If I look at the message in Gmail, no html code appears and the message has the same lable as the Mail folder where I moved the message. If i look at the message on my iPad there is no html code. The problem only appears to happen within Apple Mail

By the way, also, the html code is interpreted correctly by the html tester on the following web site:

So it seems that perhaps a simple edit should make it compatible with Mail App.
I have verified that all uninterpreted messages where all I see is html raw code, are interpreted and rendered beautifully by the tool at the link above. All I need do is to coy and paste the body of the message. So it seems that what is missing is something to trigger the interpretation in Mail App. Right?

This just started. I have to pretend to reply to the messages to get them to display!

Try these steps.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Not receiving some mail that shows up on other servers

Sometimes I do not receive all emails in Mail. I can however find them on my service provider's email app. It only seems to happen with a couple of senders, but not all the time. At least I'm aware of those because they involve business dealings that I apparently missed. I've checked 'rules', rebuilt the mailbox, checked the firewall and resent the missing message from my server's account. All to no avail. HELP!
This problem is not new to me with Leopard. I also had this problem with previous OS versions.

I restarted the device, I verified that I have internet, I even deleted the account and re-entered all that information again.
It reloads nearly all my emails fine, in fact all of them that I know of, EXCEPT for this one from my friend, sitting at the top of my inbox on my iMac. It's an email sent by my friend from his iphone, with a 126K photo attached.
Is there some reason iOS would refuse to show me this mail, like a junk filter?

Playlist did not show Title but Trak Number o

I have the Creative ZEN 4GB MP3 player. From the ZEN media explorer, I have created my playlists and then drag and drop some MP3 files into the playlist folder. Please note that most of the files just have the name but no artist, album, genre etc. From the zen explorer I can see all files ( with the filename/title) being copied. However when I play the music from the ZEN the playlist only show Track , track 2.track # without the song titles/filename Anything I have done wrong? Thank

The ONLY place to buy a ready made ringtones is from the iphone itself from the itunes app, then "More">"Ringtones"
If you bought from your computer, then you need to create the ringtone. You can create a ringtones from just about any song/sound file for free.
Google will find several ways to do this.

Lost some mail folders

I just update to maverick and now some of the folders I had added to mail have disappeared.

Hi Linda, I've just installed Mavericks and I have the same problems as you - all of my folders have disappeard, along with my notes, agghh! Have you managed to get yours back? If so, how did you do it?

Playlist quickly shows titles but doesn't play them

I have a playlist, but when clicking on it, mini runs through titles quickly,and then goes back to menu. It never plays any of the songs. When I select a particular song, it will show the titles of 3 or 4, and then begin playing, so it has skipped the one I selected. Mini only seems to work properly on shuffle.

I have found a similar issue if the iPod has not been connected to iTunes for a while.
Try connecting to iTunes to refresh/update the iPod and then the tracks should display as usual.

Mail icon shows messages but there are none

Last night after checking mail and deleting everything (in, sent & trash) the mail icon still has the red dot with a two in it. Any thoughts?
Did a reset to no avail....

Okay... Well I think I solved my own issue. There are two ways to delete messages in the messages app. You can swipe to the left, or you can click edit and delete it that way. The latter of which i didn't try as I thought they were synonymous. Turns out that it actually reset the new messages counter, and it now shows as no unread messages. Anyone having similar issues in the future be sure and delete messages using edit then clicking the red icon to the left of the message.

Some Mail Folders don't appear on iPhone/iPad

I have folders in my email account that appeared ok on iPhone 3G, but a few of them don't appear neither on the iPad or on my new iPhone 4 (more files missing on iPad than on iPhone 4).
Anyone know the reason?

Assuming the email account is an IMAP account and it must be for this, all server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account should be available with each email client used to access the account.

The 'sync collections' setting does not copy books or PDFs between devices - all it does is if you have the book on both devices and you move it into a collection on one of them, then it will be put into the same collection on the other device.
You will need to sync each PDF that you want on your phone. If you don't currently have them on your computer then connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over (that should copy PDFs and/or epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks), and if using a Mac with Mavericks on it do File > Move Books From iTunes in the iBooks app on it, and you can then sync them to your iPhone.
