I frequently get e mail that comes in as HTML.
How do I convert it to What You See Is What You Get?
Even if I download the message, often, I cannot get it
to open.
I have had this problem on other servers as well and I
am not the only one w/this problem. Many of my family
and friends also experience this problem.

I didn't mess with the iTunes Media folder previously, so I don't think that was the cause. Anyway, I manually fixed most of the songs, but I still can't figure out how to fix the movies that became listed as songs.
Here is a screenshot of what it looks like when I click on "Get Info" for one of the movies (which has ended up in the music section on iTunes):
There is no option to change the media kind to "movie" or "video" even though it is a movie and it still plays as a movie if I press play.

If you're using a version of Pages prior to 5.0, it can import AppleWorks 6 word processing documents directly. Otherwise, reopen them in AppleWorks and export them in a format that Pages can read; for Pages 5.0, those are listed here.

How do I make mail display my messages in html by default?

Have switched to Mail in Snow Leopard from Outlook.
Mail defaults to mostly non-html display of messages. Some do automatically display in HTML but most don't - I have to use the shift-control-square bracket shortcut or the Best Alternative option under the View pull-down menu to get the messages to display properly.
Is there some way to get my messages to display correctly all the time instead of just sometimes? I have the "Display remote images in HTML" preference option checked.

I had the same problem after I ungraded to Mountain Lion.
The last post on this thread solved my problem.
Pull up "Terminal", paste the line below and hit enter

New install, some mails in old install, can i get them?

10.4.11 Server OD went haywire, all mail files should be intact. Clients are 10.5.1.
Built a new 10.4.11 Server on another partition. We have one account that receives real email and the virus/junk/notjunk accounts for Spamtrainer. There were some mails which were not able to be retrieved from the server by the single mail user before the OD lost its grip on reality (probably my fault).
Can I get the mails in the old server partition over to the new server partition so that the mail user can download them into the Mail client in the userhome?
How might I go about this? I didn't want to snoop around too much for fear of losing the messages.

Erich,
you can copy the message files from the old mailstore to the new one (default location is /var/spool/imap/user/username). Message files are numbered files ending in a dot.
You will need to reconstruct the mailbox after doing so and may loose read/unread flags.
Also make sure you do not overwrite message files by the same number.
After copying, run "mailbfr -o" and "mailbfr -m username"

The most of my incoming mails are readable.
But if I get a mail from amazon , I see only the links in the mail:

I've os10.9 with the Mail 7
A friend has got an older iMac (10.7.) and mail 5.3 and no problems with the view.
We checked all the setup , but we didn't find anything.

Re: Remote Content:
If the image is remote content which is automatically not displayed in Thunderbird.
In this instance you should see a message below the header section:
''To protect your privacy, Thunderbird has blocked remote content in this message ''
click on the adjacent 'Options' button to get a drop down selection of options.
Maybe you are not viewing in HTML, so check setting.
'View' > 'Message Body AS' > 'Original HTML'

If the sender did not inserted the image correctly.
for example : in Thunderbird new Write message
Insert > Image
allows you insert an image from your computer in an email.
If you do not select the 'attach this image to the message' checkbox option, then only the link info will be applied. If that link is to a document on their computer then it will be useless as it is unlikely that you would have access. If it had a clickable link to a website then the link should still work.

Read the HT5312 page that you posted from, it has instructions for how to reset them i.e. if you have a rescue email address set up on your account then steps 1 to 5 half-way down that page should give you a reset link.
If you don't have a rescue email address then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.

When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use

Just drag the divider line between the preview pane and the message list all the way to the edge so the preview is completely closed. Selected messages will open in a new window with a double-click or the return key.

How can I prevent Mail from Getting Messages Automatically?

I want to stop Apple Mail from getting new messages until I click on the "Get Mail" button.
This is proving hard to achieve.
In Mail Preferences, I have set Check for New Messages to "Manually."
This does nothing.
Additionally, I went to each account, went into the Advanced tab and unchecked "Include when automatically checking for new messages."
This also changed nothing.
This should be fairly easy to achieve, and yet it is not. Any thoughts on how I can set this up? I have one iCloud account, one Google Apps via IMAP account and one generic IMAP account. They all seem to ignore the settings for message fetching.
I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. Apple Mail version 8.2 (2070.6).
