Some movies won't Airplay... Sound works, no picture

Some of the movies I purchase from iTunes won't AirPlay. I get sound on my TV but no video.
I just purchased Alpha Earth. It won't AirPlay
Why does this happen and can it be resolved?

A simplified example:
I imported both Casablanca and Sunset Blvd into my iTunes library from DVD, using Handbrake.
I synced both movies with my iPad successfully: both appeared in the Videos app and both played, for months.
I have done the above with dozens of movies, without incident.
Yesterday, Sunset Blvd. disappeared from the iPad following a sync.
It also does not show in Sync Movies when iPad is connected to MacBook.
Casablanca still appears and plays in both iTunes on the MacBook AND Videos on the iPad.
Sunset Blvd. ONLY appears and plays in iTunes on the MacBook
There are several movies with the same behavior as Sunset Blvd, while there are others that are still fine as Casablanca.

Your question seems a bit vague to me though. So can you actually inform us of what it is you are trying to do and give us examples with named kit.

Why won't my sound work on my iPad when I try to hear videos on facebook? Oddly it works if I plug in headphones but it's hit and miss for videos. I tried making sure the lock switch is set to volume and the volume is turned up.

Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo.

I had this problem also. Several times in fact. And it has not been any relation with sw update (Apple TV). I managed to fix this on a strange way. I drop off WiFi in iMac and joined back. Right after thatI tried to adjust Airplay settings, but I didn't manage. Reason was that my iMac didn't found any Airplay devices (?). After about 2-3 minutes iMac recognized my Apple TV. And also audio "posting" to Apple TV started to work.
So restart your WiFi connection on your iMac or MacBook Pro - it may help.

Some apps won't play sound through iPad2 speakers

I've noticed since updating to iOS 5 and 5.0.1, I've got more apps that won't play sound through ipad2 speakers, but will play sound through earphones though. Using the same app on the iphone plays sound through the iphone speakers as normal.
It seems to be picky with which apps it does this to as Sky News/BBCiplayer/YouTube/Video/ IMDb all play sound through ipad speakers. Apps like FilmOn plus/ FreeAppMagic/ Falling Gems/ Bejeweled2/ FNS Shift2 will only play sound through earphones. These Apps updating to the new iOS doesn't fix the sound issue either.
I can use an app that plays sound through iPad speakers, then use an app that doesn't play sound through the speakers, then use another app that does play sound through speakers, so the earphone connection actuator doesn't look like the problem to me. Maybe some sound drivers may have been lost or deleted with new iOS updates over wifi...?
Any help would be appreciated.

See if perhaps this is the reason why some apps aren't playing sound.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

["SOLVED"] PulseAudio - some applications won't output sound sometimes

So, I have KDE 4 and PulseAudio installed, with VLC as Phonon's backend software.
After startup, I often find that Skype won't output sound at all for seemingly random periods of time. This also often happens (sometimes simultaneously, but not necessarily) to Chromium. Pavucontrol and the KDE audio mixer, don't show anything useful at all in terms of the output of Skype and Chromium, and messing with master output in Pavucontrol doesn't affect anything.
After a completely random period of time (usually a very long period of time), these applications start outputting sound again. It's very frustrating, and restarting the applications doesn't help whatsoever. While these two applications are affected, all other applications output sound perfectly.
I don't even know. I've searched, but I haven't found any similar problems documented elsewhere. Any advice?

I fixed it (for now, at least!)
I ran the below command:
$ cat /proc/asound/cards

Basically, my USB webcam, which also acts as a microphone, was being treated as my default sound card. I changed this by creating a file in /etc/modprobe.d with the following:
options snd-hda-intel index=0
Which set my real sound card as default:
$ cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [MID ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel MID
HDA Intel MID at 0xf9ff8000 irq 47
1 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia

The problem isn't ENTIRELY fixed. Skype's still being a bit buggy, but at least Chromium is now playing sound, including in Flash media. Strangely enough, after playing a Flash video (e.g. on YouTube), Skype's sound seems to fix itself if it's defunct.

I have tried several times to get this flash player to play

I'm just a novice myself, but am having the same problem.
Strangely enough I have come across a page here on the site that supposedly explains how some "partner" sites will no longer be useable now that some changes have been made.
Maybe I am confusing the 2, but it sure looks like you now have to pay for it. (You can installer it, but have to subscribe to use the Macromedia Player to use those formerly partnered sites for the old experimental days.)

Do you have sounds turned on for these types of notifications? Also, if you have notifications turned on, do the sounds show up in the Notifications settings area for the particular apps?

Why won't AirPlay Mirroring work on Ios 7

When I toggle Mirroring t othe on position, it automatically goes back to iphone.

Sound but no picture in m4v

When converted a mkv movie to m4a with all the right settings for ATV3 and iTunes - the same settings as with all my other movies.
But this movie will only play sound and no picture on my iPads (2 & 3) and my iMac. But on my MacBook Pro it plays fine.
I am on 10.7.4 on both iMac and MacBook Pro.
I even tried to convert it to a mov file but nothing helps.
I can play it with the VLC player so I guess it must be something with QT.
I can't even import it to iTunes.
I use my iMac as main iTunes library since I only have 128GB SD in my MacBook Pro so I would prefer to be able to stream from my iMac to my ATV3.
Any ideas??

No, I don't have an external monitor attached. I may have had my iPad connected by it's cable for synching and updating in iTunes. I wouldn't think that would make a difference, would it?

Some movies from DVD won't show up on ATV

I'm having a problem with ripped movies.
Some movies ripped from DVDs I own do not show up on ATV. (Streaming)
For example, I ripped 2 disc set of "The Lord of the Rings: Extended edition" by HandBrake 0.8.5b1, using exact same setting (FFmpeg 4, 2300kbps).
I see both files on iTunes. I see the disc 2 on ATV and it plays just fine, but not disc 1. Disc 1 does not show up on ATV under Movies section.
Restarting iTunes, Mac itself, ATV or re-pairing ATV with Mac didn't work.
Do you have any idea what I'm missing here?

It may be worth checking you've got the correct sound settings.
I converted a recorded TV show into a mov using H264 encoding and AAC, or so I thought.
I cannot see the file on aTV and if I sync it say the movie cannot play on aTV.
The reason looks to be that the audio was erroneously saved as an incorrect format (Integer, Big endian) - no idea if this was a conversion glitch or user error, but I was convinced it was the video rate when it's probably the audio all along!

I have a an iMac 27" and am trying to import some videos of a friends wedding into iMovie however one of the movies won't import. It doesn't say why or give any error message or codes. All of the other movies on the card download with out a problem.

The movie in question is not 'corrupt' as you can watch it in iMovie direct from the SD card but as soon as you try to import it, it just says 'error'. iIve tried moving the file to an external drive ( and other variations on this theme) then importing but have had no luck.

Thanks for the pointers. The file type is .mts (a proprietry sony one).
I have now found some video converter software (Wondershare and iSkysoft) at a cost. Either will convert this file for me into .mp4. This I can then import into iMovie without any problems. I've checked this on the trial versions and it worked well but without paying am left with a giant watermark in the video
The mystery (which I still havent solved) is why did 20 other .mts files import fine and then this one not?
If you could point me in the direction of some free .mts converter software that would be the cherry on the cake.

Some movies/categories won't connect to the itunes store. When we try to access kids/family genre it says it can't connect. But we can see some kids/family movies from top movies, but others not? For instance when I search on a movie it finds the movie, but when I try to access it, it doesn't work. We can see the same movie and access it ok on our mac mini and the ipad, what is wrong? It is very frustrating.

What I would recommend in this situation would be first restarting the Apple TV by following the instructions in the attached article. If the issue continues, I suggest reading and working through the Resolve network or streaming issues section of the article.
