Some new mails appear then dissapear from inbox

Something is screwy with my mac.com mail.
Most mail is fine but sometimes a mail pops up in the inbox for about 5 seconds then disappears. It's not even on webmail if I check there. It is nowhere, just gone!
For example I was trying to get my papajohns password reminder and everytime I hit send reminder then check my mail, it pops in there and I double click it as quick as I can and it opens for less than a second and then vanishes completely.
This has just happened with my register.com domain reminder and I nearly lost the domain. So it is urgent that I figure out what is going on. Thanks

HI Chris,
From the Mac Mail Menu Bar click Mail/Preferences.
Make note of all your preferences under each tab then close the Mail application.
Go to ~/Library/Preferences and move "com.apple.mail.plist" to the Trash.
Restart your Mac and see if that helped.

SMTP New mail appearing in two mailboxes

When I receive new SMTP mail, it appears in both the Inbox folder, and in the All Mail folder located in the Gmail folder (along with Drafts, Sent Mail, Spam etc). I then have to view/delete/relocate (or whatever) the email in both folders every time, which is becoming rather annoying. Is there a way to stop this? Why do I need both Inboxes for my SMTP mail? Can I remove one of them?

Thanks for the clarifications. Yes, you’re using a plug-in to access this account, and it’s the plug-in that does all the grunt work. Mail is a standard POP & IMAP client that knows nothing about other types of accounts.
At this point, I’m not positive I’ll be able to figure out what’s going on here, but let’s look at the contents of your Mail folder in case there is something amiss there.
Report the names of the files and folders present at the first level of the ~/Library/Mail/ folder in the Finder.
In order to post the exact file names and avoid typing mistakes, proceed as follows. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. With that folder open, if you’re looking at it in View > as List mode, first collapse any expanded folders so that the Finder only shows the files and folders at the first level of ~/Library/Mail/. Now, do Edit > Select All (⌘A), then Edit > Copy (⌘C), and paste it in your reply to this post.
Before actually posting that information, edit it so that the file/folder names do not reveal any details you should keep private, e.g. replace any real username with “username” to hide your real email address. Try to be consistent in how you disguise those details, though, as we may need to refer to them in subsequent posts.
Report also the names of the files and folders present at the first level of the ~/Library/Mail/HTTPMail-username@mailserver/ (or something like that) account folder.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

Emails Dissapearing From Inbox on Ubuntu

I recently setup Thunderbird on my laptop for work. I setup my accounts from the email host we use and I was recieving emails just fine. Then, seemingly at random intervals all the emails will dissapear from my inbox, and now its sitting empty. I have already looked through a majority of the solutions proposed on the popular Mozillazine site and none of them seem to be the case or solve the issue.

Have you gotten any help on this? I am investigating other "disappearing email" problems and have additional information and questions for you.
There are several possible reasons that messages seem to 'disappear'.
If you have a POP account and are accessing the mail on more than one computer or smartphone, whichever device reads (downloads) the message first will have it locally, but it will no longer be listed or available on the other devices.
Sometimes the index of a mail folder (.msf) will get corrupted. If you right click on the name of the folder and select Properties, a 'Folder Properties' window will open. Select 'Repair Folder'. This may take care of the problem.
If you are still having problems, please look at the following items and respond with the information.
1) If your mail server has a browser interface (web mail access such as mail.google.com), do the messages show up there?
2) Right click on the folder in question and select Properties.
a) Number of messages?
b) Size on disk?
3) Left click on the account name; View settings for this account; highlight Server settings;
What choices are marked under "When I delete a message"?
4) What, if any, antivirus program do you have installed?

Why is all my new mail in Archive not my Inbox & Activity Monitor

Three questions.
1.     All new mail from ntlworld & gmail now automatically goes into Archive.
2.     Why does the Activity Monitor state that I have nearly half a million email incoming
3.     Why does email arrive WAY before on my iphone/ipad.. it takes ages for it to arrive on my laptop. Sometimes I have to log out and log in for it to appear

I've got exactly the same behavior with Yosemite, suddenly no new emails hit my inbox and everything goes in the Gmail (Tous les messages) folder. Looks like someone once again changed the behavior.
Does anyone has a clue on how to fix this?

Contact profile picture appears - then dissapears

a contact profile picture appears when i login on skype then dissapears within a few seconds.. does that mean he doesn't want me to see his picture or did he hide me from his contacts? if he hid me or remove me from his contacts, can he still read my message if i send him one? PLEASE help thanks

New episodes appearing then disappearing

I'm encountering an unusual problem with my podcast. The latest episode, published Dec 31, 2008, keeps appearing and then disappearing from my iTunes podcast listing. I've checked my blog and my feed, everything checked out as valid and I've also pinged the iTunes server. Each time iTunes updates the podcast episode listing and everything is up to date but then a few hours later it reverts back to the old episode listing, including episodes that are no longer available on my feed. I've repeated the steps of checking the feed and pinging iTunes a few times in the past 36 hours but the problem keeps occurring (iTunes listing gets up to date and then a few hours later reverts back to old listing.) What could be causing this? According to Feed Validator, the feed is valid, contains the latest episode and does not contain the old episodes that iTunes keeps reverting back to.

On checking just now, iTunes shows the latest episode, and matches the feed except that episode 32 is missing - I can't see any reason for this; it's difficult to read Feedburner's XML but it does appear to be valid.

Mails were deleted automatically from inbox and sent items, even in deleted items in Exchange 2013 CU2

Dear all:
I encountered a problem and needs to be solved.
We runs Exchange 2013 CU2, and some users told me that their mails in sent items and inbox were automatically delivered into "deleted items", especially in last two weeks or yesterday.
The users said they cannot delete so many mails at one time. And now I found one user's mails in "deleted items" were also deleted this morning.
I don't know whether it was bug or not in exchange 2013 cu2, and how to solve this problem? Thanks for any help.

Are there any commons among problematic users or deleted emails? For example,
they are on the same database
they have delegate settings
they are using mobile phone to sync emails
At the same time, I'd recommend you enable Mailbox Audit Log for the problematic users. For your reference:

A Mac with OSX 10,5.8 should synce but not restore with iTunes version 10.6.3
iTunes 10.6.3
To restore you need iTunes 10.7 or later and that requores OSX 10,6,8 or later

New mail sound, but no new mail appearing in inbox or junk

I've seen this question a few times with anwers, but so far, the answers have not been able to solve my problem.
Here's what I've done:
1. unchecked the box to signal when any action in the mailbox takes place.
2. I moved the messagerules.plist and messagerules.plist.bkup to my desktop and reset the junk filtering, but the new message sound continues to play when no new messages are present.
I am porting the mail to mac mail from an MSN account, could that have something to do with it?
I have never set any rules, but only accepted the standard filtering. I have no custom rules.
Any other ideas?

For some reason, I cannot use tabs within pages with Mozilla. For example, if I am in yahoo mail, I cannot move from inbox to contacts

The only thing that works are links but navigation within pages does not work.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Think mail is being deleted from inbox automatically?

I have my aol account routed thru mail. I leave mail in my inbox that I need to deal with later, but I have had these disappear after several days. Like it never existed. Spotlight search doesn't find it either. This has been going on since I started using the mail program in January. It only happens on the inbox; mail I've sent is not affected.
I called apple support about this in February, and was told it reflected a change in the mail of my aol box; that the mail program only reflects what is in my aol box. So I have made sure that I never use aol directly; only go thru Mail to access it. And it is still happening. What do I need to do to keep mail from being deleted? I have had one disappear that I had even flagged.
I checked Mail preferences and the "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing" option is "all messages and their attachments"
What am I doing wrong?

I checked via aol webmail. It is not there, either. I suspect it would have been in recently deleted mail if I would have checked within a day of it disappearing, but there were several days where I didn't check my mail, so I missed that window.
I couldn't see where to access mailbox settings via webmail, so I signed on to AOL directly. I checked my preferences for the filing cabinet, and the "automatically delete items in my filing cabinet was not checked, therefore none of the options below that were active. Under mail, save the mail I read, and save the mail I send are checked.
Since I've been using Mac Mail, my filing cabinet on AOL is squirrely. The first thing that happened was all of my saved/incoming mail for over 6 months completely deleted. Since then, it only works "sometimes." It worked most of February, didn't work for several weeks in March (like nothing saved), and worked 3 days in April (4/3-4/6). And I've not changed any settings thru this. This unreliablility is bothersome because I heavily use the saved mail for tracking different items. Any suggestions?

Is there no Office licencing? Even if you want to avoid Exchange, MDaemon with the Outlook Connector and ActiveSync is a far more pleasant experience than IMAP and Thunderbird.
Is all email currently stored in the POP mailbox, or is it pulled to PST files?
I would investigate using something like MigrationWiz to copy the data between the two servers, so all you have to worry about it updating the server details in the clients. Being clever with DNS, depending on the current setup, might avoid having to do even that.

Hi all.This won’t be short…..It seems I can’t find a good guide to migrating to a new non-exchange server solution and go from POP to IMAP in the process. I currently have approximately 80 email users in one location on a UTM device now functioning as email server only that must be retired. The mail service is the basic of all basic. After a lengthy trial, I have purchased Alt-N's mDaemon mail server. My end goal is to have everyone using IMAP (and eventually all the bells and whistles). The current production email server is mail.example.COM with WAN ip of xx.xxx.xxx.66My staged mDaemon server is mail.example.XYZ with WAN ip of xx.xxx.xxx.86 It is now on the same Lan with mail routing correctly to .XYZ. It is AD integrated and everything works for XYZ independently of .COM just nicely. I have tested everything through and all is good...

When I like to open a web page in a new tab, is opening a BLANK page and in the new tab's address bar appear a random web page address from history .

New emails appear then disappear

I've had 2 emails pop up as notifications and by the time I open mail to read them they have disappeared. They aren't in junk or deleted.

Same issue since did the last update with my mac mail. Will see an email for a second and then it disappears. Same for iPad, iPhone, on iCloud, macbook. Did rebuild on the macbook of the email account and still saw the same issue this am. Did 2 test send from gmail and neither have come thru. They are not in trash or archive and no rules set and did search. This is really bad for me because currently looking for a job and critical to see emails! Any help would be greatly appreciated. macbook pro - OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 Mail Version 8.2 (2070.6) Note it is happening on all devices and mail is not found on web iCloud mail either.

OSX no new window appears when started from secondary screen

I have an iMac 27" and a 24" secondary display running OSX 10.6.8.
When I try to "file - New window" from a firefox window on the secondary display the window never appears if I display all firefox windows it is not there, The same happens if I, from a window on the secondary display, do "Move to New Window" on a tab, it just disappears.

Sometimes an update resets things.
Check your screen sharing setup in system prefs on both machines.
Also, do both machines have the latest Remote Desktop Client Update?
Can you connect to the server normally using Finder?
Lastly, can you share desktops the other way - from the server to the MBP?
