Some of Chinese character is not displaying correctly in PDF output

Hi all
I'm involved in the 1st Peoplesoft project in Korea and having a difficulty with displaying Chinese character in PDF output.
Usually Koreans can translate their name in Chinese and that Chinese name is displayed in personal information in their company as well as Korean name.
With Oracle BI Publisher I made rtf template that includes employees' Chinese name and tried to export to PDF output.
Most of Chinese character was fine but '李' character that was ok in HTM output was crashed in PDF output.
So I researched and tested some solutions.
Here's what I did.
I downloaded and installed five fonts(ALBANWTS.ttf, ALBANWTT.ttf, ALBANWT.ttf, ALBANWTK.ttf, ALBANWTJ.ttf) in client machine(c:\windows\fonts\) and did mapping job with xdo.cfg configuration file.
After that I previewed PDF output in the rtf template and checked embeded fonts in the PDF file.
I can see the newly installed font was embeded but still '李' character is crashed.
My problem is little bit different from others becuase only one Chinese character is crashed by for now.
The Chinese character '李' is very common last name in Korea and I believe Simplified Chinese character font have in it.
Please let me know if you have any solutions or experiance.
Thanks and best regards
Kwangbock.

  • Russian Character is not displaying Correctly in HTML Attachment

    Hi,
    We are converting the TRIP Details into HTML Format and sending this as attachment by using the function module 'SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1'
    It is working fine if the Content are in English, But if there is any Russian characters, Junk character is getting display while opening the HTML attachment in the Mail.
    While debugging we have checked the HTML Content before sending it to the Function Module SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1, Which is coming correctly in Russian Character.
    Kindly suggest is there is any specific setting need to added in HTML.
    We are using the CHARSET UTF-8 in the HTML
    Then same scenario we have tested in Spanish (ES), which is also displaying correctly.

  • Symbol font not displayed correctly in WebHelp output

    I have TCS 2. I have a character format that uses the Symbol font. It displays correctly in FM and in the RH Design Editor. But in the WebHelp output, the Symbol font displays as Arial. What did I do wrong?

    Hi,
    What browser are you using? Most probably, your browser does not support the symbol font out of the box and therefore defaults back to Arial. My guess is that it will work on IE, but not on other browsers. This is because Symbol isn't a default web font.
    To overcome this, you must use the @font-face rule in your css and provide the font file as a baggage file in your project. For more info on @font-face, see: http://www.font-face.com/.

  • Chinese Song Name Not Displayed Correctly

    When I import music, the song names come up to all garbled, which they are displayed in weird special characters instead of proper Chinese.
    I've tried to reverse Unicode, and have no effect on it. I also tried changing the OS language to Chinese, but it doesn't help as well.
    When I copied the files from my PC, I've checked the files that they display their song name correctly in Finder, but all corrupted when I import them into iTunes.

  • Running headers not displaying correctly in PDF

    I have running headers in my document to show the chapter number. It was all working fine until I made some changes to the main text, now all my running headers show 'chapter 1' when I generate a PDF. They all look absolutely fine in the ID document.
    I've tried generating the PDF on a different computer, and still get the same result.
    I'm using CS5.5 on Windows 8.
    Any help gratefully received.

    Thank you, Eugene.
    I eventually exported all the files as individual PDFs, and that way the running headers were fine; it just won't do it if I export the entire book.
    I tried the IDML method and it messed up the formatting in the files.

  • Frame bullets not displaying correctly in RoboHelp output

    I imported a FrameMaker book into RoboHelp and tried to convert it to an epub file.
    Can someone help with the following questions?
    1. Why does the bullet format get converted as an n character? How do you work around this?
    2. Why do the table of contents and title page get added to the end of the epub book?
    3. Why do the fonts in the epub file appear different from the help files or Frame files?
    Shuba

    Hi Shuba,
    1. Why does the bullet format get converted as an n character? How do you work around this?
    I'm guessing you have a special bullet character format in FrameMaker. You can try changing that to a standard bullet and it should resolve.
    Better, though, convert the bullet paragraph to an HTML list in the RH conversion.
    2. Why do the table of contents and title page get added to the end of the epub book?
    Good q, I've had that issue as well. No solution thus far.
    3. Why do the fonts in the epub file appear different from the help files or Frame files?
    The EPUB shoud have a separate CSS that it uses. Try editing that CSS to control the font.

  • Some words containing 'ti' are not copied correctly from PDF.

    After exporting my Pages doc to PDF, if I try to copy text and paste it into a browser window it replaces any ti in the word with the wrong characters (such as P, (), or A). This doesn't happen in the main body of the text but does happen with words in text boxes or in my bibliography. According to Adobe Reader, the fonts are being embedded.  Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
    Using the latest versions of OSX, Pages, and Endnote X7 (don't get me started on the whole Endnote thing... ugh!).

    Actually I did copy and paste from the Preview app and used Adobe Reader to check if the fonts were embedded. However, the reason this is an issue for me is because this error is problematic for creating accessible documents for those using screen readers. I found that Pages fails mightily in this regard and had to spend a lot of time in Adobe Acrobat Pro fixing the PDF.

  • Chinese/Japanese characters not appearing on smartforms PDF output

    Hi,
    The print preview of the Smartforms output layout is correctly displaying the characters of native/local languages like Chinese, Japanses etc.....but when i try to print this output, it is printing the junk characters.
    Whereas the same printer is able to print the Chinese, Japanese characters when printed from MS Word.
    So this issue is occurring only when printing from SAP.
    In spool i could see the Chinese/Japanese characters appearing correctly, whereas when i try to convert it to PDF using program RSTXPDFT4, the PDF is again showing junk characters replacing the chinese characters.
    Thanks!

    This could be of different reeasons...
    1) Make sure your printer is uni-code enabled.
    2) Make sure, your unicode enabled printer is configured in SAP.
    3) make sure, your printer device is supported by SAP. (You can find list of SAP recommended printers in www.service.sap.com)
    4) Check whether the correct device type is used for printing chinese and japanese characters.
    5) Check code pages.
    6) Make sure you use Cyrillic font family, for printing chinese and Japanese characters.

  • Problems with Turkish characters not displaying correctly

    A user is having problems with certain Turkish characters in particular fonts not displaying correctly (as shown below).
    The two fonts (Gill Sans and Helvetica LT CondensedLight) are used for English language marketing material.  Ideally, for continuity, the same font would be preferred for our Turkish language marketing material rather than changing it to a similar font.
    Helvetica LT CondensedLight
    Turkish character “ İ ” does not display correctly in either Word or InDesign.
    Gill Sans
    Turkish characters “ ş ” and “ ğ ” display correctly in Word but not InDesign.
    My questions are:
    1. For Gill Sans, why are the characters not displaying in InDesign but are in Word?
    2. I've noticed here: http://www.webtype.com/font/gill-sans-family/#glyphs-tab that the required characters are available within the Gill Sans font.  Is this because the font is newer and includes the additional characters?  Would this work in InDesign?

    One of the big differences between InDesign and Word is that Word will happily substitute glyphs without telling you. So, unless your installs of Word and of InDesign are using different versions of Gill Sans (which is possible, BTW) then your s-with-cedilla and your g-with-macron are actually not in Gill Sans but in some other font. I'm guessing Arial.
    It's possible that you have more than one Gill Sans installed (e.g. one in your Document Fonts folder and another in your system fonts folder) that have different glyph complements. Gill Sans has been around a long time, and the version I have from the 90s has no Turkish support whatsoever.
    As far as the capital-I-with-dot, you can check your glyph coverage in a variety of ways. In both InDesign and Word, you can open up a window that shows you all of the glyphs in a font. In InDesign, find it in Type -> Glyphs. In Word, it's called "Insert Symbol" and you can find it in Word 2010 by going to Insert -> Symbol -> More Symbols. I am guessing that the answer to this question is simply that your cut of Helvetica LT has no cap-I-with-dot. You'd need to pick a font that actually has support for Turkish. On WIndows, I use a very full-featured freebie called BabelMap to check font coverage. They have a Web version here:
    http://www.babelstone.co.uk/Unicode/babelmap.html
    but I personally prefer the downloadable .exe file.

  • German Special Characters not displayed correctly in RTF  using code

    Hi ,
    In my code we are using webdynpro method
    WDResourceFactory.createResource(
    byte[] data, String resourceName,WDWebResourceType
    Type)
    Here in our code we are implementing this as
    ITemplateElement templateEl = wdContext.currentTemplateElement();
    WDResourceFactory.createResource(
    templateEl.getReportData(),
    reportName.substring(0, reportName.lastIndexOf('.')),
    WDWebResourceType.RTF); reportName.lastIndexOf('.')),
    Here templateEl.getReportData() returns a set of bytes which has some
    german special characters.
    We are generating the Bytes using String.getByes(),Just before
    String text = new String(in);
    collector.putBusinessObject(boName, bo);
    reportDocTemplateParser(collector, text);
    collector.removeBusinessObject(boName);
    String generatedText = collector.generateRTF();
    out = (null != generatedText) ? generatedText.getBytes() : null;
    The out put is the if i am giving a word with german special characters for eg:
    Betriebsübersichten it first gets converted to bytes and then passes through method WDResouseFactory.createResourse(.....) which creates an RTF file and finally in the RTF file it appears as Betriebsbbersichten the special character is not displayed correctly.
    i came to knw that while converting into bytes we have to make it RTF supported encoding.ie for eg generatedText.getBytes('cp1252').i even tried with other charactersets like ISO-8859,cp1253 and so on but none of them worked.
    It would be really great if you could suggest the needful.
    Thanks and Regards
    Neeta

    I soved this by using get_data function of response object. Then converting this into ISO-8859-1 charset.
    See code below.
    DATA :  lv_encoding   TYPE abap_encoding,
              lv_conv       TYPE REF TO cl_abap_conv_in_ce,
              lv_x_string   type xstring.
      lv_x_string = pv_http_client->response->get_data( ).
        lv_encoding = '1100'.
        lv_conv = cl_abap_conv_in_ce=>create(
                              encoding = lv_encoding
                                 input = lv_x_string ).
        lv_conv->read( IMPORTING data = pv_result ).
