Some of my photos show small when I double click them

I have a macbook air OS X 10.9.5 (13F34), iPhoto 9.5.1
I have just noticed an issue in my photos from 2008 to 2009.  When I double click on the photos in this period small size photos come up, not full screen
at the start of the problem I note that one event seems to let me have full size, and another event straight below suddenly only allows me to click to a small photo
I don't know when this problem happened, obviously I certainly do not recall doing anything to cause this.  Is there something I can do to get those photos back to full size.

I'm not sure if I know exactly where to find this, but this is what I see on the two examples of the same photo

  • Pictures are overlapping in photo library. When I double click the picture the bottom (correct picture) shows.

Pictures in Photo are over-lapping. Yet when I double click the picture, the correct picture appears. How do I fix this?

Sounds like corrupted thumbnails.  First try this: Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    2 - run Option #4.
3 - if that doesn't fix the problem rerun with Option #2. It might take more than one attempt.

  • Blank thumbnails in organizer but photo is there when I double click on it

When I look at my entire library, I have events that show up blank with a dotted line around it. When I click on the event the photos are blank with the same dotted line. But when I double click on each one, it brings up the actual photo. At least I know the photo is there, but is there some way to see the thumbnails when I am viewing all the events?

have you backed up and rebuilt the thumbnails (depress the option and command keys and launch iPhoto use the rebuild thumbnails option)

  • Bridge won't open NEF files, when you double click them, using PS CC

I have installed the latest version of PS CC and the Bridge, but when I go to my Nikon NEF files and double click to open them, they open up in some weird Window Photo Gallery, then I went to the preferences for bridge and reset the settings, and now when you double click on them nothing happens and they don't open at all.  I am using a PC with Windows 7.
I have posted this question before, I need help, PLEASE

If you go to the Bridge Preferences>File Type Associations what does it list as the default?
If it doesn't list Adobe Photoshop CC you can use the Browse button to set it to
    the Photoshop.exe in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC

  • Songs disappearing when I double click them in itunes.

    Hi,
I'm using iTunes 8 and have on two occassions been the victim of a rather evil bug. When I double clicked a song it got replaced with a totally different one, it happened for each track on the album I was trying to play. This has happened to me twice so far and both times with a whole album. Has this happened to anyone else? I can't seem to find anything about it on the forums or on google. It's really frustrating.
Thankful for any help I can get recovering my music.

    That's wierd, and I can't explain it.
Do you have iTunes set to keep you iTunes Music folder organised in your preferences?
Also how did you add your album X, was it ripped from a CD with itunes, or added in some other way/purchased from the iTunes store or elsewhere?
Just to be clear, do you have duplicate copies of the actual music files, or does the library have two entries pointing to the same place?
Do the files for album Y still exist on your PC or have they been deleted? If so are they in the recycle bin?
The only thing I can think of is that somehow the library database got corrupted and it misbehaved when you added album X.

I've had this problem for the past 2 days. When I double click a screenshot in my desktop it won't open. I have to continue clicking it until it opens.

  • Why are some of my photos showing white when select from the photo roll

Why are some of my photos white  when I zoom in on the I tire roll

Why are some of my photos white  when I zoom in on the I tire roll

  • My photos wont enlarge when i double click on them

Some of my photos won't enlarge in iPhoto despite that being the setting in preferences for the double click.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Finder window is re-sized smaller when I double click on Macintosh HD after

My Macintosh HD icon is double clicked to allow me to see all folders on my hard drive. Every time I start up the computer this window has been reduced in size so that I cant see all my folders without re-sizing it every time. The size of this window will remain large enough during the current time I remain on the computer. When I shutdown and start back up again the window is back to being very small, requiring that I again re-size it so that I can see all my folders on my harddrive.

    Hi, try this...
If nothing is showing in the Toolbar at top, click the little gray oval at top right.
Right click or Control+click on the Toolbar, choose Customize Toolbar, drag the Send button to the Toolbar.

  • My iphoto movies won't play when I double click them. ***?

Hi friends and holders of the light of communal knowledge. I recently noticed a glitch in iPhoto in that double clicking on movie files fails to elicit the once normal response of opening a play window and then allowing me to press play and enjoy the moment I videoed. Anyone know of a reason, fix, solution? Reaching out, thanking you all in advance.

    Greetings,
This would be a good question for the iPhoto Forum: https://discussions.apple.com/community/ilife/iphoto
What version of iPhoto are your running?
If you drag the movie out to the desktop and then double-click the movie on the desktop, does it play?
Once you have the the movie on the desktop click on it once and then go to File > Get Info.
Change the "Open With" to Quicktime Player 7 and then click on "Change All"
See if this changes the behavior of iPhoto at all.
    Cheers.

  • Photos don't show individually. they only come up when I double click the blank box. how can I restore iPhoto?

when I open iPhoto, the screen shows only blanc squares where the photos should appear. when I double-click on a square (titled by date taken), all pictures come up. how can I get back to seeing all individual pictures?

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuold the thumbnails. This can take 3 or 4 goes to work

  • Some folders are not opening when I double-click.

Hi.  I am currrently on an iMac, running OS 10.6.8.  Last week random folders stopped opening when I double clicked them.  I found it happening more when I started a new folder ( command n) and renamed it.  Whenever I double click, the folder "whooshes" to the left never to be found.  The folder stays on the desktop and does not open.  The only way to get my items out is to throw the folder away, get an old folder, rename it and take the items out of the trash.
Any ideas as to what the issue may be?  I've restarted the computer, shut down the computer, force quit the finder, relaunched the finder etc.  I have done an "get info" and made sure everything is "read and write" as well.  This is becoming a headache for about a week now.
    Thanks for any help.

    Try clearing your browser cache.
Tools > Clear Recent History... - hit Details and make sure only Cache is selected, then select Everything and hit the Clear Now button.

Hundreds of my iPhoto pictures will not be copied and will not show when I double-click on them.  When I do in iPhoto an exclamation surrounded by a triangle appears.  Though I can see the picture in the small tiles below it will not expand.  I also cannot attach any of these pics into an e-mail or into any other file.  I have already went through all 3 Repair options and when that did not solve it went through a complete Rebuild.  Any Help?!  Any Suggestions on how to fix this?!  I have spent almost 2 days now going through all of the published help.
I have backups going back 6 months - I have not had the real need to check every album before - but - all of my backups also have this same problem.

The triangle with the ! indicates that the connection between the thumbnail and the orginal is missing - this can be caused by many things including database corruption and user action emoving the originals photos on urpose or by accident
If the database is corrupted then rebuilding is the solution - backup and depress the option and command keys, launch iPhoto and rebuild your database  --  if the iPhoto rebuild does not cure the problem then download iPhoto Library manager and use its rebuild command which creates a totally new library leaving the existing one untouched
If you have deleted the photos then you need to start over with a new library and import the photos you have not deleted into it
You can select one of the problem photos and use the reveal original in finder commander (file menu) to see if the original is there - if it is a finder window will open showing it

  • After iPhoto update some photos go black when trying to edit them and am unable to edit those photos

After iPhoto update some photos go black when trying to edit them and am unable to edit those photos. How do I fix this as this is the latest update?

If I hold down the Option key while launching iPhoto, I get the option to start a new library. Do I have to import all my thousands of photos into the new library?
In his original post the poster referenced the following. As to the new Library, see the end.
There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. *Permissions in the Library* : Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. *Minor Database corruption*: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. *A Damaged Photo*: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. *A corrupted iPhoto Cache*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. *A corrupted preference file*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    *If none of these help*:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • I have photos on a cd which I'm trying to open .  If I click on them I can see the picture in the preview, but when I double click it doesn't recognise the picture.  They are all in .jpg format.  Tried copying them but it said some data cannot be read.

Select one and hit the Space bar to view it in QuickLook. Use the forward arrow keys to move from file to file.   If the file can't be viewed in the QuickLook mode then the file is damaged and probably can't be copied or moved.
You could try a photo file recovery application like  MediaRECOVER which can scan the memory card and tell you what files, if any, can be recovered before you have to purchase it.
