Some of pdf is blacked out

I have adobe reader 9 and as of recent, part of some of the pdf's that I try to read, part of the doc is blackened out. They print fine, but when viewing them, parts are blacked out. And it may be just print and/or sometimes pics. Not every doc does this, but a lot of them do.
Please help!

Thank You for your reponses. I tried updating video drivers...did not work.
So what did work was to remove all adobe products that I found in control panel, then downloaded adobe reader10. Previously had adobe reader 9 on xp-3.
Everything working OK now!

I see that you are having a problem with your laptop screen changing and blinking through colours. I will be happy to help find a solution for this but you didn't give me information to work with. Does this issue happen if you connect an external monitor?

Viewing Blacked out PDF data

I occasionally get pdf documents that have controlled data on them and some is/should be blacked out. When I view the PDF on my iPhone, it shows ALL the data. When I download it to my laptop, the data is blacked out, like it should be. I would think this could be a problem for controlled prints, sensitive data, etc... Is there a way to have the data show up blacked out on the iPhone like it should be?? Thanks!!

Anybody?? Bueller...Bueller???? This is potentially a very important issue. If someone sends me a PDF with controlled data and I can see it or if I have to send a PDF with controlled data and they can possibly see data they shouldn't just because they are using iOS...this is an issue....

Images and text blacked out upon joining pdfs and saving

Hola all,
Let me preface this by saying I'm a complete noob to Acrobat, so sorry if this will be a stupid question.
Currently I'm attempting to join two pdfs together for a product on a few of my websites, upon doing so certain sections of the PDF are blacked out and the images are scrambled... I didn't have this issue with the Acrobat Pro 8 that was on my old system, but the most recent release (11.0.07) is causing issues. Am I missing a setting somewhere? It was pretty random doing this prior to today, now it seems to do it every time. The blacked out areas are fine prior to saving, but as soon as I save, close, reopen it does this.

But it doesn't matter, actually I can just save the larger of the 2 files and it creates the same issue, worked with support yesterday and they had me print to PDF the PDF causing an issue and it was fine after that.
No answer on why exactly. Just an extra step I guess I'll have to take...

Prior saved .pdf sometimes has blacked out content. How can I prevent this?

I use Mac OS 9 Maverick, read email in Mail.app and Yahoo.Mail, switch between Safari and Firefox for browsing (because Safari does not allow Flash videos to appear on pages). When I want to save an email or an html file or report as .pdf, I use Command-P and select Save As PDF from the Print popup. Normally, I can go back years later and read the .pdf document in the Home File I filed it in using Adobe Reader. Sometimes, however, when I open a .pdf file--and I cannot tell prior to opening it--all of the content has been blacked out. It is as if someone redacted the document after filing it, which I don't do.
How can I prevent these redactions? The content being blacked out varies from extremely personal and important health files to simple email correspondence I want to save. Sometimes I have paid for a document and have to contact the publisher to send hard copy via USPS due to this problem.
What am I missing here? Do I need a specific plug-in? Is there a way to retrieve the blacked-out content from my computer stored file?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

When trying to edit or download a pdf document, it becomes too large or on screen or normal size with many lines of text blacked out. How do I get it to do the normal presentation of the document

For years my pdf docs downloaded for viewing or editing as normally sized documents.
Now when I pull up a pdf from file, it becomes too large or becomes normal page size but many of the lines of text are blacked out. How do I correct it to go back to the previous default page size?

Are you opening those files in Acrobat or Reader? You can set the default page size in the Page Display preferences. Choose Acrobat/Reader > Preferences in Mac OS, or Edit > Preferences in Windows to access the preference settings. Do the black lines only appear when the PDF is zoomed in? Or are they there regardless of the page magnification?

Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?

Here's what I've found on the issue:
Pantone color definitions have changed (coinciding with CS6) — they are now "Pantone+" (I think that's what they're called). The "+" apparently means they're now LAB colors. Lab colors are not properly displayed in Preview (or in Finder previews) — they display as black (as far as I can tell, in all circumstances). I'm sure it's a tad more complicated than that, but that's the gist.
Now the bad news — nobody seems to know anything about a fix or workaround (unless you convert your PDFs to process — this might be a fix for sending to clients). It causes issues for me in AI files — being able to view them in the finder (with previews) is a HUGE time saver for my workflow... when they're all black, not so much.
In my chat with a director of product dev at Adobe, they placed the responsibility to fix on Apple (assuming Apple wants to support Pantone color definitions in their OS).

Please check the Page Display preferences (File > Preferences/Acrobat > Preferences) and make sure that Show Large Images is selected. If sounds as though this PDF may have been created from a scanned document, and this preference is disabled.

Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Slideshow Error: Some pictures on burnt disc 'black out'

Hi, This is a bit of a strange one.
I have authored a disc with a slideshow that previews fine in both DvDSP's simulation mode and also when opening the Video_TS folder in DvD Player.. (I am using the 'push' transition for each picture)..
When I burn the disc and play it back in a DvD player (hardware or on the Mac) some of the pictures (not all, but always the same ones i think) push in fine, then go black and then reappear in order to slide out again.
All the JPEGs were all exported from Aperture at the same time and all fine, nothing special or crazy about them - but some of them (arbitrarily it would seem) do this black out thing while others are fine.
The first burn it started about 8 slides in (out of about 20 total), so I changed the order.. second burn - nothing changed.. same ones played up and the others were fine.
Cant work out why it would do this.
Does anyone have any ideas?
I have converted the slideshow into a track - and it seems to have stopped it but that doesn't leave me any the wiser for this or future projects.

1. I am not sure whether it is the problem of the graphic hardware, relevant softwares or the system itself.
2. I am not sure whether browsing a webpage with a lot pictures would make the graphic hardware, or other hardwares if possible, massively burdened and then just crash.
3. Or if possible, is the reason that the heat dissipation doesn't work well?
I am looking forward to any replies that might be helpful. Really appreciated.

it could be heat, not enough RAM, but you don't tell us enough.
There is no reason to assume this is anything other than running Windows natively btw.
Browser of course matters probably the most.
I like IE10 now, but use to use FF until recently. I'd like Chrome except for a few concerns I have over using it, it can eat up a lot of RAM and it builds up HUGE disk cache if you don't clear history and cache on exit and run CCleaner regularly ( good for all browsers )
So assuming 64-bit and 4GB or more and core i5 or better...
Also make sure Wiindow has 10GB of free space or more.
Biggest concern is what happens afterwards and whether you have run a check of your hard drive (chkdsk on startup) or if the problem cascades and gets progressively worse on top of the first - like do you have to do hard restart or able to bring up Task Mgr and kill or better yet, Resource Mgr and see if you have any thread locks.
Safari is not well versed in multithreading and handling what you want to do and are doing. IE9 isi usually good but I found it could not handle a lot of tumblr photo streams and sites. Try Chrome. With Firefox, use noscript, blashblock and see how it goes.

I had some really good Injustice Gods Among Us characters, like Lobo Lvl 39 Elite 1, and the app began blacking out. It still is blacking out, and wont let me in. Can anyone help?

My app Injustice Gods Among Us is really being a pain. It started blacking out around a week ago, and it wont let me in to the game. I was told to delete the app, and redownload and rebbot my Ipad, but it didnt work. And I lost all my characters, like Lobo, Batgirl, Darkseid, and a ton of others. Can anyone help me? My neighbor got the app, and his works fine! What the heck.
