Do you have any password or encryption settings in your Runtime Properties?I do not think so, but not sure. Is there a way to check it? Is there a properties file.
Did I misunderstood it? but I can place both PDF and HTML files to the target location, the HTML filess are good only PDF files cannot be open by Adobe Read.

  • Some PDF files will not open

Hi - anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated as I am beyond frustrated.
I have Adobe Reader (version 11.1.3) on my Android phone (SG4)  but this applies to iPhones as well. Some PDF files open without issue. But there are a few that just give me a message that says "Please wait... if this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of content. You canupgrade tot he latest version of Adobe Reader for Windows, Mac or Linux by visiting http://www.adobe.com/go/reader_download."
There are 2 files specifically that boggle me. Both of these are Adobe forms, extended to reader, that I created and both were downloaded from our intranet. One will open and one will not. I tried recreating the one that will not open, had it uploaded to our intranet but still it won't open...
I can't for the life of me understand why?!?!

These are online documents, right?  This message usually means that you are trying to open the doc in a browser that uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin.

  • Some pdf files cannot be read by eReaders other than Acrobat

I have several books in pdf format.  All, including the attached, read perfectly in Acrobat and all, except the attached, read perfectly in various eReaders.  The attached file, however, cannot be read by any reader other than Acrobat and cannot be imported into Calibre and converted to any other format.
What is unique about this file?
I can not find any way to attach the file.  Please post instructions.
    Using Windows 8, Adobe Reader X 10.1.8,

You cannot attach PDF files to the forum, only images (e.g. screen shots) and not at all in an email reply.
To share a PDF put it on acrobat.com, your own web site, or a file sharing site, and reply with the URL.
What does Adobe Reader X say for Document Security (under File > Properties)? The SECURITY METHOD is the key information. You are quite correct that some PDF files use security methods which lock them to Acrobat.

While trying to find a solution for that issue, I stumbled across a post that describes a similar problem with jpegs:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/979919
One reply suggests: "Are you sure that these images are send with a proper MIME type for images and not with a generic MIME type that makes Firefox show the "Open with" dialog? "
The suggested solution, an extension called Open-in-Browser https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/open-in-browser/
works fine regarding the pdfs in question, and is acceptable for me, although I agree with the poster from above, that " it is a bug that should be fixed instead of relying on an extension".

  • Linked PDF files won't open in Preview

I have a a few Table of Content PDF files linked to a large number of PDF files in subdirectories (the old AGES library system).  When I try to open the linked file in Preview i get an error saying that I don't have permission to open this file.  Adobe Reader works fine and I can open the individual files in preview but trying to open them from the TOC PDF file doesn't work.  Repair permissions says everything is fine. I'd rather not install Adobe Reader so is there something I'm missing in trying to get Preview to work?
                                                                                                                                                                             Thanks

I can suggest a workaround, though I don't know what the cause of the problem is. It just showed up recently in my installation of MacOSX 10.8.5.
I opened all the files that had difficulty with permissions. Then I closed them and opened the file with the links (the Table of Contents file). At that point the links worked. Go figure.
Opening the Table of Contents file first and then opening and closing the problem files resulted in the links taking me to the first page of the linked document, rather than the correct page within it.
I had checked file permisssions previously. That was not the probelm. I even used the Terminal to reset them to universal read/write, but that made no difference.
    HTH.

  • Some pdf files won't open in browser while others do - how to fix that?

    Hello,
just switched from Opera to Firefox and - with the help of some add-ons - feel pretty satisfied already.
One annoying problem though: While many pdf-files will open properly with PDF-XChange Viewer plugin within the browser, there are many websites with links to pdf files where the setting "Use PDF-XChange Viewer (within Firefox)" prompts Firefox to download the file instead.
    Examples:
    http://www.visitbritainshop.com/nordics/travel-transport/london-transport.html
The map of London Transport (link in the middle of the site) will open within the browser
    http://search.knightfrank.co.uk/ngh140118
The floorplan or the brochure won't open within the browser but be downloaded instead
I've never experienced this (in Opera) before.
What could be the reason for that? And is there a way to change it?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Some Contact FILEs cannot be opened in Address Book

Here "Contact Files" indicates the .abcdp files exsiting under:
    ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Metadata/
I have not noticed this before so that I am not sure whether this is specific to Snow Leopard.
There are some contact FILES that, though can be searched by Spotlight and showed in Quick Look, can NOT be opened by Address Book.
After I double clicked one of such contacts, Address Book is activated as normal: no warning message was shown and no abnormal system behavior.
Has everybody experienced the same problem or been aware of the cause/solution?
    Thanks!
btw, I can share such files if you ask.

  • HT204365 I have some PDF files in my iBooks application on my iPhone that I would like to have transferred to the iBooks application on my Mac.

Is there anyway that I can do this so when I sync my iphone to my itunes library that all my pdf files from my phone in books will go to ibooks on my mac?
    Thanks

King, I have my ipad hooked up to my macbook air (Mavericks).  I am trying to transfer over 100 pdf's on my ipad to my mac with no luck.

  • Pdf file will not open in preview or adobe

When I open a pdf on my dual G5 desktop and enter the password I get a blank screen in Preview and a "unrecognized token '38,ol' was found". I open the same pdf on my powerbook G5 and it opens fine in Preview and Adobe.
I recently did a clean install of the OS on my dual G5 destop an have the Above Reader 7.0.7 installed.
What preference or library files might I change or copy over from my laptop to get this to work?
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

You wrote: " I shared the pdf so that I could open that same file on both machines. Same result."Sorry, I'm having a bit of trouble following this.
Earlier you noted you could open the PDF on one computer, not the other. Now it appears that by "same result" you mean that sharing the document with a second computer resulted in it not being able to open on the computer with which it was shared as well as the computer on which the document was received as an attachment.
So, can you open the document on one computer and not the other? Does it open on the computer with which it is shared, or the computer on which it was received? Or neither.
Please be as specific and clear as you can be. Thanks.
    Good luck!

  • In some .pdf files i've opened, I've been able to type in select places. How?

Mostly, job resume's. However I'd have a lot of use for that myself. I'll try and clarify: When filling in a pdf  document, when it's open with adobe reader, some areas are highlighted and I can type into them. What I'm asking is how you do this? This might be a InDesign question instead, but if I make a document to save as a .pdf, how to I set select areas so they can be typed into?

oh. Well im not paying hundreds of dollars over it. but thanks
