Some photo files will unzip - one won't

I've made some of my albums on Gallery downloadable so that a friend can download, unzip, and have them on her computer. All's well with every album except one. I tried re-uploading the photos in that album to a brand new album on Gallery. But even that album of photos, while it will download as a .zip file, won't unizp. i get this error every time: Unable to unarchive "filename.zip" into "Desktop". (Error 1 - Operation not permitted.)
Again, this happens ONLY with this one album of photos. No other album.
Any suggestions? It's making me crazy.

Its possible that they are taking a long time to load. Have you tried using MP4 instead?
This method, using QT Pro export, supplies a reduced file size for iPhone if you are happy depending on the QuickTime plugin...

  • Some movie files will suddenly start to lag or stutter?

Any idea why some movie files will suddenly start to lag or stutter?
You start playing a file and all is ok, but then about 2 minutes in it starts to play up.
If you pause it and then press play again it will be ok for about a minute then play up again.
I thought it was down to wireless or USB cable issue, but still happens when I copy the files to the hard drive. The files are ok if viewed on a PC.

    Hi
Can you post more info for better understanding?
Obviously you have desktop PC and want to watch movies from....where? YouTube, saved on HDD, external HDD?
Are video files in HD or compressed video files?

  • EPrintCenter: "Photo files will always be printed in 4x6". Huh?

ePrintCenter states "Photo files will always be printed in 4x6”.  Is there a workaround?  It seems presumptuous and restrictive to assume everyone wants to print jpg/gif pics on 4x6/PhotoPaper.  I have a black&white scanned drawing that needs to be on larger 8.5x11 standard paper so I can read it.

  • Some PDF files will not open

Hi - anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated as I am beyond frustrated.
I have Adobe Reader (version 11.1.3) on my Android phone (SG4)  but this applies to iPhones as well. Some PDF files open without issue. But there are a few that just give me a message that says "Please wait... if this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of content. You canupgrade tot he latest version of Adobe Reader for Windows, Mac or Linux by visiting http://www.adobe.com/go/reader_download."
There are 2 files specifically that boggle me. Both of these are Adobe forms, extended to reader, that I created and both were downloaded from our intranet. One will open and one will not. I tried recreating the one that will not open, had it uploaded to our intranet but still it won't open...
I can't for the life of me understand why?!?!

These are online documents, right?  This message usually means that you are trying to open the doc in a browser that uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin.

  • Some Tiff files will open in ACR, some not

    Hello everyone,
I have tried and read on several posts before posting here to get the solution but nothing foudn till now.
    I have LR 5.2 and PS CS6.
RAW files are being managed, worked and converted into Tiff (uncompressed, ProPhoto RGB profile, 350dpi) from Lightroom and then imported in CS6 for further adjusted and layer works, etc..
Some files will be opened via ACR before being opened by CS6 and then some days before, they will just open directly into CS6.
I have checked some settings in LR like " Include Develop Settings in metadata inside JPEG...." which is UNCHECKED/DISABLED and "Automatically write changes in XMP" is CHECKED/ENABLED.
What could be doing this or what could i have messed somewhere?
your help and support well appreciated.

    Hello everyone,
Apologize for taking so long to revert back but i was out of the country and busy with the end of year work load.
I will describe my workflow for you to get a better idea of the issue am having.
    - I take files (Canon CR2. RAW files) from the memory card (Canon 500D, Canon 70D) then copy to my computer / HDD
    - Import these same files withing lightroom for selection/rating/etc.. at this stage the .xmp files have already been written beside the .CR2 files as i have a preset for lens correction on import.
    - I will then work on the RAW files inside LR 5 for minor adjustments, and then export them in TIFF format.
    - I then open PS CS6 then open the TIFF file.
    - Some files will open directly in PS while others may open via the ACR window before then i will click on open image to get it in PS.
    - I do my adjustments and advanced editing in PS then save the files in same format.
    - LR will see the adjustments done outside of LR and i will import the one from disk (to get the changes i made from PS)
This is my usual workflow and i would like to know if LR and PS use the same .xmp files to store the changes done?
Why some files which get the same treatment inside LR opens without getting through ACR window and some will?
Do you need more info? Please let me know and thank you in advance for the support.

  • TIP: What to do if the Recovered Photos File will not import into iPhoto...

Like many others in this forum, I just upgraded to iWork/iLife '06. When I installed iPhoto '06 it trashed my existing iPhoto Folder and placed all of my other existing photos (those not already imported previously into iPhoto) into a recovered photos file. I tried and tried and tried to import those "recovered photos" into iPhoto but it kept returning an error message on import "Unreadable file"
Finally I selected the "recovered files" then clicked on "Get Info" and found that the permissions were "locked" with a padlock icon. Clicking once on the padlock opened the permissions back to me the "owner" and the iPhoto allowed me to import all of those 425 "recovered photos". Whew! I hope this tip helps someone else out - I had to figure this out on my own...

The fact that you can use the Raws from your XSi is of no relevance.
The Raw from every model of camera is different. Note: that's every model not every brand. So, the NEF produced by a Nikon D40 is not the same as the NEF produced by a D60, the CR2 produced by a Canon 350 is not the same as the CR2 produced by a Canon 400.
Changing the Raw specification is one of the ways of upgrading the cameras.
IPhoto and Aperture support -  or don't -  the same cameras.

  • Some PDF files will not display Why?

When I try and display some PDF files they only open up a blank screen. Any ideas.

I am having the same problem with Safari, I will save Adobe Reader to desktop quite it and try to open it again and get a blank and it telling me it doesn't recognize it. Then I copy it from Safari, and paste it into Firefox and it will open in Safari and anywhere it want to open it. I just use this instead of trying to open it again in Safari.

  • Some Itunes files will not open

I recently migrated my files from an old computer. I deauthorized all my equipment and am now operating on my new computer. I have installed the most recent version of Itunes 6.0.5.20, and have recenlty attemptd an un install reinstall of quicktime.
Most of my files will play and are recogized by Itunes. The issue largely surrounds music I converted from my personal CD collection and a few select purchased tracks.
These files will not allow me to add them to the library (no error just doesn't happen) and when i click on them I get a few seconds of quality time with the hour glass and nothing. I have attempted to deauthorize and reauthorize using the purhased music but nothing.
Could this have something to do with compatibility between previous versions of Itunes? The files I am having an issue with were all created or downloaded at a specific time 06/01/05 downloads don't appear to be working any more?

have Norton, but not the fire wall. Itunes can access the internet and plays the majority of my songs. A selection I purchased on May 31, 2006 will no longer play, and my ported songs from my personal CD collections will no longer play.
I checked Quicktime and the program is available on my computer in stand alone... I also unistalled and reinstalled based on another thread that suggested this as a solution.
I use Ad Aware for spyware and downloaded your Ewido (nice program) but all the two ever catch is tracking cookies.
The program is acting like these files are resticted or some how not authorized to play, they promt the program to open but will not allow me to add them to my Library or play them. I get an hour glass for a few seconds the program initializes and then nothing....
Is there a way to test if the program thinks these are file not authorized or not compatible - I would have assumed I would get an error message stating wha the issue is, but I am not getting an error, just no responce.
How about another program that will play itunes compatible non-protected files. Any suggestions to see if at least my personal cd collection files are not some how corrupted?

  • I-Photo files will not open

I have a Mac OSX 10.4.11 system. Some of my iphoto files in the iphoto folder in the finder window have morphed into documents that will not open rather then the usual .jpg files. I have the thumbnails in the library but, when clicked, they open to the grey rounded corner square with the exclamation point in the center. These grey windows affect about 40 of 1000+ pictures. When getting "info" on these document type files it does not say what type of file it is, only that it gives the answer "none" as to which application can open the document/file.
I have tried rebuilding the database by opening iphoto holding down the option and command (apple) keys to no avail. This does not seem to be the usual disconnect between thumbnail and file because when going iphoto/user/library/originals the files themselves will not open.
I will appreciate any info on this ---    Thank you,  Jeremy

    Hello Mr. Terence ---
It was a disconnect/location problem between the thumbnail and the files. I figured out this morning that the pics that were grey! bombing were all located in one folder in a larger 2006 folder. The file had pictures from both 2005 and 2006 in it so I tried moving the grey! bombing folder to the 2005 folder from the 2006 folder and Voila!! the pics were now showing up in I-Photo.
I don't know/remember if I re-labeled the problem file folder or whether or not myself or the computer did the sorting into the "year" type files. Probably my mistake because one wouldn't think that the computer itself would forget where it put/located something.
In any case, problem solved! I did have to remove the .jpg from the files that I had tried last night and that had subsequently opened in "Preview" to get them to work after re-locating the problem file. Thank you again ---
    ---Jeremy

  • Some photo show as thumbnails but won't open

Some of my photos show up in the thumbnail view but when I attempt to open them they don't show up. I get a greyed dotted line with an ! in the center. They photos are still there because I can open them with Photoshop & Preview. I downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and rebuilt the library. All of the photos I was having the problem with didn't rebuild. What do I do now?

To set up PS as an external editor, you go to the iPhoto Preferences and in the General Pane, use the drop down menu at Edit Photo: to select Photoshop.
If you do this then when you double click on a pic in iPhoto it will automatically open up in PS, and then when you save it it will be automatically saved back into iPhoto.
I suspect what has happened is that as you've used PS to edit pics by going through the folders you have inadvertently altered things in the iPhoto Library Folder and that consequently iPhoto has lost track of the pics. It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss.
What to do now? I don't think you'll be able to return the iPhoto Library Folder to it's original condition, so I'm afraid you'll need to create and repopulate a new library. To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same film rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find there the Originals folder. From there drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
Never changes things via the Finder. Everything you need to do can be done from the iPhoto Window. For instance, if you want to get to the files, you do this via the iPhoto Window, using one of these three methods
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
Everything you need to do can be done from the iPhoto Window. If you need help achieving something, by all means post again.

  • Some photo's will not transfer to iPod

My iPod touch started experiencing strange behavior ever since the 1.1.4 update was installed.
Now whenever I sync it, I receive an error that certain photos will not be synced because they cannot be displayed on the iPod. The funny thing is that there is nothing different with these files. They all came from the same camera and it will even load other images from the same event. As far as I'm aware, these files have not been edited outside of iPhoto.
Here is the error: "Some of your photos, including 'PB25005.jpg' were not copied to the iPod 'Touch' because they cannot be displayed on your iPod."
I like how it states that there is multiple photo's and then gives an example of a photo that cannot be copied. How do I find out what the other photos are? Why can't they be synced?
Anybody know if there is a log file that I can review
    Anyone have any ideas?

I have noticed the same behavior of the IPT syncing photos. And I've noticed it prior to the 1.1.4 update.
Of the 2722 images in 16 folders that I attempt to sync the IPT accepts 2701 and rejects 21. (Less than 1% failure ratio.) I have not been able to discover the rhyme or reason for the rejects and have played with one photo to force (trick) my iPod into accepting it to no avail.
It's a mystery but not a great concern since the IPT is just a fun way to display my portfolio.

  • Trouble transfering photo files (DNG) from one Mac to another

I have a Mac G4 ibook (1.2 Ghz, 768 RAM, OS 10.4.9) and a new Mac Quad tower (2.66gHZ, 3Gb Ram, and OS 10.4.10). Both computers can import photof iles from my compact flash card via a card reader, but the old iBook of course takes longer. I import via Adobe Bridge and convert from Canon CR2 to DNG files. When I travel, I take my iBook and save my hundreds of photos to it. I am having big trouble copying the photos from my iBook to my Quad. I activate file sharing (via Airport) and drag the file containing the photos from the iBook to my desktop on the Quad. The process always starts fine, transfers a number of photos, but then stalls out. I have to figure out which photo it stalls on, delete it from the ibook, and start over. Downloading hundreds of photos becomes an arduous task because it stalls out so many times.
Any suggestions about how to fix this problem? Does it have anything to do with one computer being Intel based and the other not? Any suggestions?

An Airport connection may not be the best way to transfer the volume of information that you are dealing with. I suggest that you use a Firewire cable to connect the two computers and start up the iBook in Firewire Target Disk Mode. Just hold down the "t" key during startup. The iBook will appear as a mounted disk on you desktop. You can then move the files you need to your other machine. The data transfer rate will be much higher and more reliable.

  • Some Word Files will not open on Windows Server 2012R2

I have identical versions of Word 2010 on two different computers. One is Windows 7, and one is Windows Server 2012R2. The Win 7 is my primary writing machine but sometimes I  need to open a Word file on the other machine.
Some of the files open fine on Windows2012 machine, but some give me an error:
"Word experienced an error trying to open the file." It then makes some suggestions for things to try, including Repair as I am opening the file, but none of these suggestions work. I keep getting the same error.
I cannot see what is different between the files that open fine and the files that give this error.
They all open fine on the Windows 7 machine.
I have tried do a full Repair on Microsoft Office and then rebooting.
The normal way of sharing the files is to copy from Windows 7 to a cloud location and then downloading on the Windows 2012 machine. But I have also tried emailing the file to myself from Windows 7 and opening the email on Windows 2102. I get the same problem.
    What else can I try?
