Some photos uploaded from iPhone4 becomes black on iPhoto

When I upload my pictures from my iPhone4, several vertical profile photos become black. They look fine on my iPhone and when I email them from my iPhone and save them on my Mac they look normal, but if I drag them into iPhoto (even under a different name), they become black again =S I tried deleting the photo and re-uploading, still the same...

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help:
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

I am using my old iPhone for playlist for my Dad's funeral as that meets the crematorium requirements. Some tracks - uploaded from personal CDs to MacBook Pro and successfully transferred to new iPhone (with small doc) won't transfer on syncing.  Most do, but why won't some, of my own music sync when others off the same album and in the same playlist do? I have now checked the storage, freed up 766MB, how can i not sync (and get everything i've just deleted back) but upload the required tunes? All help appreciated, many thanks x x x

maybe this post by Zevoneer helps.
I don’t want to hear any of that “iTunes will let you re-download anything you’ve lost” nonsense.
it won't anyways. except or apps, you are entitled to one download only. there4 it is important to back up.

I've not seen this message but would think that it might say that you can not send to a PO Box - exactly what is the error message?

  • Photos uploaded from iPhoto '11 to facebook keep removing themselves at random.

    Hi Guys and Girls,
My Photos uploaded from iPhoto '11 to facebook keep removing themselves at random. Who else is having this annoying issue?
    Cheers,
    Keegan

Do not use the iPhoto - Facebook link - as advertised changes on either side are automatically synced to the other - that is the way it works
If you do not want the features that iPhoto offers then upload directly form a web browser or other method

  • What are the backend configuration required for photo upload from portal?

    Hi all,
When i am trying to upload the photo from portal  it is giving error
    can not archive the photo
we are using portal 7 and  ecc 6.0
    I want to know
What are the backend configuration required for photo upload from portal
Can any but help me out
    Rajendra

    Hi,
Are you using the standard iview. If that's the case you need to configure in the backend. Meaning you need to store the photo in the Org management(HR) which the HR functional guys will do. You just need to add the iview to your role.
Let me know if you require further informationn.
    Award points if helpful.

  • Facebook photo upload from Iphoto

Hi, am trying to upload some photos from iphoto onto fb, but for the 1st time it is telling me I need Iphoto 5. I am not computer savvy and don't know how to do this. Please help.

Sharing to Facebook directly from iPhoto does not work well right now.
See this fix posted by LarryHN:

If the above does not work, export your photos from iPhoto and then upload them from the Desktop using Facebooks uploader.

  • How do you remove photo albums from Iphone4?

I have been trying to remove photo albums from my Iphone4 which have been synced from my PC. Is there any way of doing this without taking the phone to the staff at the Apple Store?

Connect the phone, click on the Photos tab and uncheck the albums you want to remove. Then sync.
BTW, the staff at the Apple store won't be able to do it unless you take your computer to them.

  • Photos upload from MacBook to iCloud process stopped

    OS X 10.10.3
    Photos 1.0
I Converted my Aperature library to Photos.  In Photos I have approx 14,200 items.  By using the automatic upload from Photos  to iCloud, 7875 items have moved to iCloud.  This is consistent with what I see on my iPad.  The automatic upload has stopped with 6,392 items still to upload.  I have stopped and restarted the upload process several times.  Each time it stops at exactly the same count.  Has anyone else encountered this?  Is there a way to determine what it is uploading when it gets stuck?  I would happily delete the offender if I could tell who it was.

Just going to throw in again: iCloud is to keep's Apple's products on Apple's devices synced up between multiple devices. It isn't for sharing. It isn't for storage.
iCloud is the Apple-branded cloud (see the "i"). It isn't meant to be a completely free-of-charge realization of the future that all the tech people keep calling "the cloud."
It adds a lot of very nice functionality to Apple's own products, yet people are screaming their heads off about not getting free disk space and free bandwidth to use for whatever they want online. Apple added functionality, but tons of people seem to think they took away functionality. These things were never promised with iCloud.

  • Enhance make the photo disappear or to become black or white

For some photos taken with the same camera the edit - enhance function makes the photos disappear. When "revert to original" the photos come back.
    The computer:
    MacBook from late 2006.
2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b)
It is not possible to update the computer to Mountain Lion due to old hard ware.

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library

  • Only some photos syncing from iPhone '09 to iPhone 3GS now

To troubleshoot, I only checked boxed a single album of about 250 photos to sync to iPhone.  When I do the sync only some photos within the album sync - some but not all.  Same with other photos albums too.  Does not matter if album is regular or "smart".  Never has this issue before now.  Lack of free space on iPhone is not the issue.
Rebuilt the iPhoto library by holding Command + Alt at launch and tried most of the options.  No luck.  Then tried all six check boxes in iPhoto.
    I'm using...
    OS X Lion 10.7.1
    iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.3.5
    iPhoto '09 (8.1.2)
    iTunes 10.4.1
I must be missing something basic (I hope).  Anyone know what's going on here?

  • Only some photos upload

    Hi
after taking photos with my iPhone 4S running IOS 7.0.4 only a few random photos upload to photostream and cannot be viewd on Macbook Pro with Maverix and iPad 3.
    anybody ?

See the Photo Stream FAQ:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486
Photo Stream will only upload, after you close the Camera.app, when you are connected to Wi-Fi (My Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections.), and when your iPhone is properly charged. The battery must not drop below 20%.

  • Some Photos in Library are not showing on iPhoto

I imported some photos from another Mac to my MacBook Air and organized them in several events.  All went well until I had a large number of photos (and some videos) which took a long time to transfer and iPhoto was not responding for over an hour.   I forced quit the iPhoto and now when I go back, I see the events that I had created but they are empty (photos are not showing).   When I tried to re-import the photos, it says the photos are duplicate which I assume it means photos exist in the photo library.  My question is how do I get the photos existing in the library to be visible on iPhoto.  Thanks.

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

  • Transfer photo's from my wife's external iphoto library to my mew imac

i purchased a new imac and the guys at the shop copied my old files to my new imac
    including iphoto
    all good
then i wanted to consolidate the photo's from my wife's external h/d to the new imac
i had some 15000 photos and my wife some 25000
now I have sone 149000 photos on my new imac,
now iphoto freezes up and when i sync my iphone it syncs ok until part 6/6 (importing photos's) even when their are no new ones on the phone and then freezes>
    Wat to do.
    1) get back to my original Iphoto library of 15000 odd or
    2) remove all the duplicates
    3) get the iphone + ipod touch syncing back to normal
    Any ideas??
    Thanks
    Sean

If you can get back to having the two Libraries that's the best option. Then merge them using the paid version ($20) of iPhoto Library Manager. It's the only way to merge iPhoto Libraries.

  • Photos disappeared from Library and Rebuilding with iPhoto Libr. Mgr worse

    1. For several days, when I attempted to transfer photos from Iphoto to Ofoto, the programs would freeze and I couldn't do the transfer.
    2. When that problem disappeared, I created a few small albums, uploaded them on Ofoto, and sent them out via the Kodak website.
    3. A day or so later, I found that those albums in iPhoto, as well as one in Iphoto that I had NOT uploaded to Ofoto, were empty--no photos. I discovered that all the photos were in the trash.
    4. I selected the "trashed" photos and put them into the Photo Library. They then re-appeared in their original albums.
    5. After this, I discovered that the "last roll" file (uploaded from the camera) within the past couple of days was blank. These photos were NOT in the trash.
After these events, and following advice I saw in this Forum, I downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and rebuilt the Library. During the course of the rebuilding a single error message appeared during "Merge," concerning one of the albums in the Library (I clicked "skip") and 13 error messages during "Adding photos to album" (I clicked "skip"). At the end of the rebuilding there was an error message "2817 photos succdessfully copied. 80 photos could not be copied because they could not be found in Library." (They were listed in the Console of Applications/Utilities.)
In addition to losing those 80 photos (all the new ones in Last Roll), the remaining photos are scattered more or less randomly in the different albums.
Any suggestions on how to retrieve those 80 lost photos and unscramble the mess?

Sorry - guess I missed your post somehow
    1. When you say trash the IPLM library, you mean the folder called "Rebuilt Library" that is in the Finder/Pictures, right?
Yes - as I understand it the rebuild library is worse than the original one
    2. Any suggestions on how to back up the iPhoto library?
Copy it somewhere - just have a copy before you start so if things go wrong you still have what you started with - drag it to an external drive or select it and duplicate it - just do it as one operation not in small pieces
    3. Since I'm using iPhoto 4.0.3, I think I have to launch the program holding Tab and alt keys; is this right?
Probably - I frankly do not remember back to iPhoto 4 for this detail - using the wrong key combination will not create a problem
