Some Podcasts are synced to app some are not

I use iTunes on Windows (11.1.4.62) to manage my podcast subscriptions. iTunes correctly downloads the podcasts and I can play them immediately from harddisk (not streaming).
However, when syncing to my iPhone only some podcasts (the ones I subscribed to years ago) are being copied to the iphone as a file for offline playing. Newer podcasts are being listed on the iPhone, but to play them I will have to make the iPhone Podcast app (2.0.1 (446)) download them again!
What do I have to do to make iTunes sync my unplayed podcasts as files for offline usage to my iPhone again?

Mac OS X is really a pretty graphical system with the Unix operating system running under the hood. Each file and folder known to Unix has an owner, group(s) and permissions. Perhaps the accounts which can't access the drive are in a different group from the original owner of the drive.

I am getting a message on my iphone 5 for the last two days saying that " my podcasts are not available at this time"-any ideas of what this could mean?  I have synced phone many times.  Is it itunes?  My carrier?
    thanks

I just figured out a solution.  I connected my ipod to my computer, went to the 'info' tab on the menu for my ipod.  I checked 'Sync Mail Accounts', which were greyed out until I selected them.  That connected me to the Cloud and everything went back to normal.  Hope this helps someone else!

  • New podcasts are not marked as unplayed

    Hello,
With the Podcasts app some new podcasts are not automatically marked as unplayed in the iPhone and iPad apps with iOS 8 and iOS 7 (there is no problem with iTunes in my mac/windows laptops).
I have realized that it depends on the format of the date of episode. For example, if the format is something like "22 nov 0014", the new episodes won´t be marked as unplayed and I have to do it manually.
However, if the format of the date is something like "15 of november", the new episodes will be marked as unplayed.
I have tried to modify the format of the date of the iPhone to U.S. (I am spanish), but nothing changed.
Do you have any idea about the reason of this behavior? Checking all the new episodes manually is very annoying.
    Thank in advance.

I don´t know why but the problem was solved two days ago. Now, the format of the date in the app is exactly the same for all the podcasts, the "correct" one.
I guess that apple has modified something in the database to use the same format that it was using the iTunes app of OSX.

  • Podcast are not in the podcast directory

    Hi,
I just reformat my hard disk, I re-install Itunes, the latest version, I have subscribe and downloaded my favorite podcast.
I sync my Ipod nano every thing went fine but my podcast are not in my podcast directory on my ipod, I have to artist...
What can I do to fix that problem?
    thanks

Feedburner ha done its usual trick of ramming a lot of extraneous code into the feed in order to be compatible with other rss readers, and for the most part it is this which is causing FeedValidator to report problems. The lack of line breaks makes the feed very difficult to read, but I would think that iTunes will simply ignore the tags which aren't aimed at it: the fact that it's been accepted suggested that you don't have a problem here.
However, searching just on the category is most unlikely to throw up your podcast. There are thousands of podcasts out there, and it would be quite impossible to display one one page the entire list for any category. What you see are 'featured' podcasts, chosen by Apple as being special; please see this Tech Note:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/whatson/podcasts/specs.html#getfeatured
Note that there is no way you can influence the selection other than making your podcast really special.

  • ITunes: podcasts are not updating automatically

    Hi,
My podcasts are not updating automatically in iTunes as they as they should.
My Mac and iTunes are running 24/7, so iTunes it always running. The update interval of the podcast is set to hourly, latest iTunes, latest Mac OS X.
The podcast actually does update if I re-start iTunes or, if I manually update the podcasts (there is always the latest 1 or 2 daily episodes of say NBC nightly news available, but not yet downloaded)... (but this is not a great solution as I am using iTunes through Plex, the Mac is mor a TV/Mediacenter for my family; Plex can access playlists and podcasts in iTunes, but obviously it cannot trigger iTunes to update, so I have to go out of Plex to update iTunes, very annoying)
How can I ge my my podcasts to be downloaded automatically by iTunes.
    Thank you for any help!

Here is a screenshot of the phenomenon/problem... NBC Nightly News is not updated, even both the computer and iTunes are running constanly. Once I click update podcast, the podcast updates, so there is an update available.

I got it working.  I uninstalled both iTunes and apple mobile device support and then downloaded iTunes again.  That took care of the problem.

  • Audio podcasts show synced in itunes but is not on ipod.

I connect my nano to itunes and try to sync audio podcasts by syncing under the podcast tab.  itunes shows synced but podcasts are not on ipod.  What can I do?

Where are you looking for these podcasts on the iPod?
Double check to make sure podcasts are configured to sync to your device from under the iPod's Podcast configuration tab.
To access the Podcasts tab for your iPod, plug your iPod in and click on it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the Summary tab. Along the top you should see a Podcasts tab, so go ahead and click on it.  Here you can configure how and what podcasts sync to your iPod.
If you do make any changes to do this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to apply the update changes to your device.
Otherwise, are you getting any error messages when you sync your iPod Classic with iTunes?

  • My Podcasts are not in the iTunes Directory

I have submitted 4 podcats to iTunes several weeks ago. I recieved email confirming that they had been accepted. When I look for them on the iTunes Directory under the category I submitted them to, they are not anywhere including Browse All... when I do a Power search, they show up there but not anywhere in the directory.
Is there something I am doing wrong in the submitting process or is there a quota of submits before they are listed in the directory... help please!

Your podcasts may just be delayed due to the holiday rush, they may not have made it through, or they may have been rejected for some reason. You might want to ask for opinions in the Podcasting forum, or just resubmit.
BTW, this really isn't the best place for this question. This forum is for helping with iTunes U, Apple's iTunes Store version for colleges and universities, and not for general iTunes help. If you need further assistance with general iTunes issues, I'd suggest you try asking in the appropriate iTunes forum; you'll be more likely to get quick and accurate responses there.
    Good luck.

  • Podcasts are not listed in Podcast menu

I resynched my iPod and all my podcast files are mixed in with the music titles. When I select the podcast menu item, none of the podcasts are displayed. However, when I select Genre on the main menu, then my podcast files can be found within several of the categories listed (e.g. Philosopy, Comedy, History, Science and Medicine). How can I get them all listed under the podcast selection in the main menu?

Incidentally, I manually manage the files on my ipod and the problem came about when I plugged my ipod into a friend's computer. He had an old version of itunes installed and it appears to have messed up the way the podcasts are labeled so the ipod no longer recognizes them as podcasts.
    Can anyone help?

  • My podcasts are not showing the latest episodes in the iTunes store

    Hi All,
The latest episodes of two of my podcast feeds have not yet updated in the iTunes store; both feeds had episodes posted Friday, May 10th but the new episodes are not yet appearing in the store directory.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? I've noticed a couple others have recently posted similar problems and I suspect this is an issue on Apple's end as the episodes are available to subscribers and the feeds seem to validate. Can anyone confirm?

    Thanks,
    Clay

When you add a new episode to your feed and upload it, it appears immediately for subscribers because their iTunes application reads the feed directly and the Store is not involved.
However because of the huge number of podcasts in the Store (thousands) the Store caches the feed and checks it for updates periodically. For this reason it usually takes 1-2 days for new episodes to appear in the Store: sometimes it can be less, and occasionally the whole process seems to get stuck and it can take several days.
Your feeds are up to date when subscribing, so it's just a matter of waiting for the Store to catch up.

  • Audio Podcasts are not working

I recently made our site's 5th update and for some reason each podcast, when you click on it, does not load. All you get is a big "Q" for Quicktime with a question mark on it for each of the podcasts. Why is that? I've completely erased the site, re-loaded (index included), and still have the same problem.
Interestingly enough, Firefox and Internet Explorer loaded them just fine. SAFARI was the one giving me the problem! What gives?
    Here's a link to the site: http://faithmountainaz.com/FaithMountain/Podcast/Podcast.html

I don't know where to put the blame but the issue seems to be related to the 7.1.5+ QuickTime security updates and Safari.
    http://faithmountainaz.com/FaithMountain/Podcast/2727035D-A8C8-4DBB-A487-8B5D483 5EABB_files/Redeemed%20From%20Sickness.m4a
You file works as intended when opened directly in QuickTime Player.
Your server is not configured to open the URL above in a browser window but the iWeb page code (inside a javascript file) forces the QuickTime plug-in be used. This is the expected behavior of iWeb and its code is correct.
The real issue is the file extension.
Currently you use .m4a (MPEG-4 Audio). But that file extension should be for audio files only and yours includes a chapter track and a video track (even a still image is video).
These "enhanced" Podcasts should really use the .m4v file extension (MPEG -4 Video) because of these extra tracks.
If you first duplicate your current file and then use the Finder to change the extension from .m4a to .m4v then republish the page using iWeb your file will work with Safari.
Not a real fix and only Apple can do that.

  • When syncing my IPOD, all of a sudden my podcasts are not being downloaded to my IPOD. Any Idea's why?

When syncing my Ipod. I now do not get the Podcasts that I have had in the past. They are on my computer but when syncing do not download to the IPOD. Any Idea's?

I have a 4th gen nano that periodically has this problem.  First, try disconnecting it from the car and forcing it to reboot (by pressing and holding the menu and center button simultaneously until the apple logo appears if it is a click wheel version... Sorry, don't know how to do it on the 6G touch nano).  Once it finishes, reconnect it to the car.
If it still does not recognize it (only once out of a dozen or so times has the above not worked on mine), connect the iPod to iTunes and reset the settings and re-sync it, then reconnect to the car.

  • Video Podcasts are not syncing

I initially thought this was a problem with my ipod, but after looking at the file types that I'm downloading (the Clerks 2 and South Park video podcasts) it looks like the file type I'm downloading isn't compatible with the ipod (quicktime). Why is this happening? Why is a video podcast not compatible with my ipod? Am I doing something wrong?
    NG

Video Podcasts do not have to publish in iPod compatable formats. Some podcasters may feel the resolution is too low for their requirements.

  • Played podcasts are not synced

When I sync with iTunes I have to manually mark each podcast as played (on the iPod). Otherwise it is reloaded as unplayed on the iPod. Shouldn't Sync work both ways?

Did you ever figure this out? I just realized I posted a similar question. 9 months later and no Apple staff have answered this question nor have they fixed this (if it is a bug)? Not particularly impressive.
