Some Podcasts Not Downloading - Error 8006

I am running iTunes 7.4.2 - for some reason, some (but not all) of my podcasts suddenly will NOT update. Instead they have an "!" next to them, and when I click on the exclamation point, I get the following error message"
"There was a problem downloading (name of podcast). An unknown error occurred (8006). Please check that the URL is correct and the connection to the network is active and try again."
Any idea what this could be? I just want to update my podcasts and this is driving me crazy!
Thanks.

Hhhmmm!
That rules out my thought that perhaps the Podcasts had changed it's feed. Sometimes they do and then it is simply a matter of accepting two different feeds.
It may be a temporary glitch. Give it a day or two and if you still have the same problem, try ocntatcing the Podcast's producer to let them know of your problem. It may be something they can fix. (Apple are not usually involved in Podcasts.)

  • Podcast not downloading, error (-39)

I'm having trouble downloading the new giant bombcast 9/9/09, it's coming up with error (-39), i've tried the solutions in the help sections, but it still doesn't work.
    Any help will be appreciated.

I'm downloading that episode at the moment, so I suggest you try again now. If it works, it was probably just a temporary glitch. If it doesn't work, either report it to Apple (via the "Report a concern" link on the Podcast's page) or directly to the Podcast producer.
It has fully downloaded into my iTunes now.

  • Some Podcasts not working since upgrading to 1.2

Ever since I upgraded my IPOD to version 1.2, I have found that some podcasts which I subscribe to no longer work. It downloads and transfers to my IPOD OK, but when I go to play it my IPOD shuts down then eventually restarts. So far it seems to happen with KCRW's the Treatment, Creative Screenwriting & WFUV podcasts. I know I could probably restore it back to the previous version but I'd rather not as I have already paid for a game which I know only works with the new functionality (plus I like playing it). Anyone else found this?

There's another thread about this somewhere - many people have had this problem. I've had it with the Creative Screenwriting podcasts, which are the only ones to which I subscribe.
The thread proposed a workaround - start the podcast not at the beginning but one second in. You have to select the podcast, then I think do a Get Info or something - there's some way to find Options, then Start Time, then input 1 or 2 seconds in (with the CS Podcasts, this is fine, since Jeff tends to yakk on for at least two minutes before the interviews begin!)
I've not yet tried it, but it seems to have solved problems on the other thread, accepted as a workaround until Apple fixes it.

  • HT5295 One certain podcast not downloading on new podcast program. Can stream it just fine.

Podcast program not downloading the podcast. Handel on Demand. Can Stream it just fine

It's not just one program.  There are a bunch of podcasts that are not automatically downloading but must be streamed.  Both the Onion Radio News and the Onion News Network videos frequently won't download but stream just fine.  I've also had problems with NASA podcast channels, NOVA/PBS podcasts, Discovery Channel podcasts, Dilbert, and a bunch more.  On top of that, there are several feeds that are not updating at all.  I can go to the feed page and see new episodes, and I can download the new episodes just fine from within iTunes, but they refuse to acknowledge that there's anything new within the Podcasts app.  As a workaround, I tend to still use iTunes for the feeds I have found to cause a problem, and unsubscribed from feeds that I have not found to be causing any issues.  I then manually Sync those episodes onto the iPod.  It's a real pain and the opposite of a convenience, but at least I'm getting my episodes.  When they yank the feature from iTunes entirely, I will no longer trust the Podcast App and will probably pitch my ipod in favor of my android tablet - unless there are some REAL improvements in the next release.  Of course, you could always NOT apply the upgrade to ios6 and stay on ios5...

  • Why do some podcasts not play on my touch?

I download podcasts with Itunes. When I sync to my 1st Gen Ipod Touch most play fine, but some will not play on the touch. I get a message that there are some podcasts that will not play on my touch. They are all downloaded with Itunes and in the MP4 format. There are other shows in the same "sieres" that play just fine. But some episodes don't sync. They play OK in Itunes. How do I get them to sync to my touch?

    Hi AC,
    Thanks for that.
I have Apple TV 1 & only use Handbrake.
An example of 2 problem videos:
    High Society
    MPEG_4 (Base Media / Version 2): 1.09GiB
    1 Video stream: AVC
    1 Audio stream: AAC
    Encoded date: UTC
    Tagged Date: UTC
    Writing Application: Handbrake 0.9.5 2011010300
Video 1290kps, 720*416 (16:9), at 25 fps, AVC ([email protected]) (CABAC / 4 Ref Frames)
    The Marine
    MPEG_4 (Base Media / Version 2): 1.53GiB
    1 Video stream: AVC
    1 Audio stream: AAC
    Encoded date: UTC 2011-11-29
    Tagged Date: UTC 2011-11-29
    Writing Application: Handbrake 0.9.5 2011010300
Video 2222kps, 1280*688 (1:860), at 23.976 fps, AVC ([email protected]) (CABAC / 4 Ref Frames)
To a layman like me, these specs look similair to specs of my non-problem videos.
    e.g.
    The Pawnbroker
    MPEG_4 (Base Media / Version 2): 764 MiB
    1 Video stream: AVC
    1 Audio stream: AAC
    Encoded date: UTC
    Tagged Date: UTC

  • How to display podcasts not downloaded

    Setup:
Macbook 2008 white, (not the aluminum unibody! the old style)
    Mac OS X 10.6.8 (can't update)
    iTunes ver: 11.4 (18)
    Problem
I was wondering if there was a way to display only the podcasts that are not yet downloaded on my Mac. I can make a playlist of the ones that are downloaded but I can't seem to use that to then create a list of podcasts that are not downloaded. Can anyone help or explain why this isn't possible?

I'd like to update this question, but don't see an option to edit the original.
Can't arrange podcasts according to rating, in iTunes 11!
I would love to have them in rows/columns, as they were in iTunes 10, as well as arrange them according to ratings.
Update: I have been on the phone with Apple support for this issue for 3 days, and the solution is not found or known. Hours on the phone, Restarted my whole Mountain Lion from scratch. Now I can see the "list" option in iTunes 11. That's the only change. And we're not done restoring my Macbook to the original. I even had to run out and by a second 1T external hard drive during this process. yuck. Great dedication by support. Seems like a can of worms, that I wish I had not opened. Hopefull......

  • Podcast not downloading

    Hi,
I subscribe to an audio podcast and previously have had no problems having it automatically update to my Itunes and then sync to my Ipod touch. Since last August, I can no longer get any of the new podcasts to update into my Ipod. They download to Itunes and I am able to delete old ones from my Mac and they come off my Ipod Touch. But no new podcasts will download. I am still able to get podcasts through my Ipod directly but I prefer to have the subscription through my Itunes.
Other things in my Ipod are still updating from ITunes like my pictures and my music.
I posted this back in August and no one answered me. Is there anyone out there who can help?

    Hello smeep1225,
Have you doubled checked your sync settings for podcasts from under the Podcasts tab for your iPod in iTunes while it is connected? If not, I would start there. Let us know exactly what options you have ticked or selected from under this tab.

  • Bug in 12.1.1.4 Podcasts Not Downloading Stuck in Clould

Longtime itunes user through many versions I'm on windows 7 64 bit. Upgraded a while ago to 12.1.1.4 and now  podcasts are not downloading and stay stuck in in the cloud unless I manually click on the podcast to download the individual podcast episodes.
    These are my settings:
These should be downloading them, they are not.  Apple this is a bug and needs to be fixed.  It seems like this happens in every other version of itunes that you folks put out.  What is the deal?  I have tried unsubscribing and resubscribing without deleting the podcast and that usually managed to somehow make itunes recognize that it would be downloading them.  That does not work as a workaround/trick anymore.  Really need an actual fix for this folks.

Well, I guess I have been somewhat lucky then - I have been using iTunes since version 9 (so quite a while but not a super long time) and I haven't had many issues, and none that weren't resolved by just resubscribing.  I've also had pretty good luck with the podcast app, and it seems like that gave a lot of people grief.
I concur though that the "feature" to just randomly shut off updates is awful.  But it is so typical of how they operate.  They tell you what you want and how it will work and that's it.  Don't like it, then too bad, which makes it so frustrating, especially if you're not 100% Apple all the time.  Add one feature, take two others away.  I have gotten to the point where I try not to let it bug me.
The problem is that there isn't much else out there that reliably syncs play counts and last-played timestamps back to a central library AND has smart playlists - which is the #1 reason I like the iPhone/iTunes combo.  The Zune and Zune player was the closest thing, and even that was pretty bad.  It didn't sync last played timestamps and its playcounts were all over the place.  It was way better for podcasts though.  I have an Android music app and windows client that syncs play counts pretty well, but it does it to iTunes - no other windows music app.  I've always wished Winamp would have come out with a great iOS/Android music app that sync'd play activity, but nothing so far and I'm not holding my breath.

  • SOME images not downloading on ANY iPod Touch browser

SOME images from SOME websites are not downloading on ANY browser my iPod has on ANY wireless network.
I have an 8gb iPod Touch 2nd gen, and iTunes 9.1.
I went to vector.tutsplus.com to read some articles like I usually do and most of the images were loading except the images that are actually in the article inline. I figured it was just a safari glitch so I opened up my Opera browser for iPhone. I still couldn't see the images, so I figured it was just my Internet connection. I hopped onto another Wifi connection in my neighborhood and went to the website but the images would STILL not load. They load fine on my computer. Other resides are doing the same thing. It's really hard to read tutorials and articles on graphics design when I can't see images.

I tried pinging some hosts of the images that won't load on my PC here at the office and I can ping the servers with no problem.
When I ping the same servers on my Mac through Terminal, I get "ping: sendto: No route to host"

  • Podcast not downloading from macbookpro to iphone4s

Do you know how to download a podcast from a macbookpro to a iphone 4s?  I have the podcast app on my iphone and when I first plugged in the phone I got a message that I had a software update available.  After completing the phone update, I tried to download the podcast and it does not download. I was successful adding the podcast to my ipad2 without any issue.  Please help!

If you use automatic syncing, you need to set up the iPod's Music tab.  Select the iPod in iTunes.  Toward the top of the iTunes window is a row of "tabs" (or buttons) that starts with Summary.  Click on Music there.
This is where you tell iTunes how to sync music to your iPod.  Make sure Sync Music is checked.  Below that, set up the Music tab as desired. If you added new songs to your iTunes library, those songs must be included in your selection on the Music tab, or they will not sync to your iPod.
If you've done the above and the problem is something else, please post back.

  • Can't validate the feed and podcasts not downloading

after hours of trying various things and my eyes hurting now :0) here i am asking for help.
i can't seem to figure out what i'm doing wrong in terms of validating my feed. and due to that none of the podcasts are downloading. I went to the techspecs and followed instructions on the code and re-traced my steps...
the message that comes up at the feedvalidator is:
line 9, column 1: XML parsing error: <unknown>:9:1: unbound prefix
here is the link to my rss xml feed:
    http://www.spheresofessence.com/rss/empodcast.xml
any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!
    thank you

I don't see anything specifically wrong with your xml - however the previous post regarding the itunes duration tag is wrong. I have used durations up to and exceeding an hour without any problems.
    <itunes:duration>01:00:02</itunes:duration>
Your length is likely represented wrong, as it appears as 12.6KB, which would be an impossibly short mp3. If the length is actually more like 1.26Mb or 12.6Mb, then the length would be represented by 1321206 or 13212058 bytes respectively.
Neither of these should invalidate your feed though.
One other thing to check is - are your mp3 files actually located at the url you've used? I get an error trying to link directly to them.
