Some podcasts won't sync to iPhone

Got a iphone 3GS running 4.0 iOS and when i synced my iPhone to the iTunes, some of the podcasts wouldn't sync. ALL the podcasts are the same format! all are mp4. I double checked. I have no idea why they won't sync. Any ideas?

Interesting... I'd be curious to know whether other subscribers to the podcast experience any similar issues. Regarding the situation with playback on the computer, I'd suggest checking to make sure your computer meets iTunes' system requirements, in terms of processor speed and RAM. To locate this information on your machine, right click on My Computer and choose Properties. The details of the requirements can be located by going to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
If you meet the system requirements, I'd attempt a clean reinstall:
Go into Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Remove these applications:
1. Apple Software Update
2. Apple Mobile Device Support
3. iPod for Windows (may or may not be there, either way is fine)
4. iTunes
5. QuickTime
Restart the computer
Download & Install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Launch the Utility: Start > Programs > Windows Install Clean Up
Select any of the above mentioned applications, and click Remove
Restart the computer again
Download & install iTunes again from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If this still does not resolve the issue, you could update your video drivers on the computer via your Device Manager, or by consulting the website for your PC's manufacturer.
You might also want to unsubscribe/resubscribe to the podcast, which should afford you the option to re-download the episodes. If and when you do this, temporarily disable your anti-virus and firewall software to avoid any possible interferences that might be causing you issue.
Regarding the episodes that will not sync to the iPod, you could try right clicking on the file and choosing the option to Convert Selection for iPod. This ought to give you two copies of the file in iTunes... then connect the iPod to sync it, and see if the episode syncs to the iPod.

  • ITunes 11: Newest podcasts won't sync with iPhone?

I have an iPhone 5 - I abandoned the Podcasts app in favor of just syncing my podcasts through iTunes and listening to them in the Music app.
But since the iTunes update last night, I haven't been able to sync the newest downloads of my podcasts (my settings are to automatically sync unplayed episodes of selected podcasts and delete them from my device once they've been played, upon the next sync.)
I tried the usual re-set, restart of both iTunes and my iPhone. I've even selected a new podcast, and old unplayed episodes of it sync perfectly fine. But there are two or three podcasts that won't sync their newest episodes with my device.
Has anyone else run into this?

I had this issue as well. After trying various things, here's what I did to solve the problem:
    - rebooted both the computer and the iPhone (not sure if this is necessary or not)
    - turned off syncing of the affected podcasts (in iTunes, click on the device, then click the "Podcasts" tab at the top and then in the Podcasts list I unchecked the specific podcasts that were not syncing
    - sync the iPhone (by pressing the Sync button at the bottom right of the iTunes window)
    - turned syncing of the affected podcasts back on
    - sync the iPhone again
    Hope this helps.

  • IBooks and podcasts won't sync between iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro

I have an iPad 2, an iPhone 5s and a MacBook Pro (Mavericks) - all are on the cloud and wifi sync, all permissions are there, settings are correct.  The iBooks issue I had was between the MacBook and the iPad - I put some PDF files into iBooks on my MacBook and when I went to the iPad they were not there.  Even after syncing, connecting directly to the MacBook via USB - nothing.  They are there now, but I have no idea how that happened.  I tried that a week ago.
This morning on my commute into work, I added a couple of podcasts to the Apple podcast app on my iPhone 5s.  When I got into the office and went to the podcasts app on my iPad, they were not there.  Even after syncing on wifi (I don't have my MacBook with me so I haven't tried direct syncing).
Am I misunderstanding how the wifi syncing works altogether?  Or is my iPad the issue?  Any help is appreciated!

    Hi vichochile,
If you are having an issue with syncing your new iPhone with the information that is in iCloiud (and on your other devices) we should make sure that iCloud is set up correctly on the iPhone. See this page for directions -

  • Video podcasts won't sync to iPhone

Got a confusing problem here, with a MacBook Pro (up to date on all software) and a new iPhone 3GS.
I can download and play video podcasts within iTunes on my Mac. However, they will not sync from iTunes to my iPhone, even after I use the "Create iPhone version" command and it spends ten minutes converting them. iTunes gives the error that the video cannot be played on my iPhone, so it's not going to transfer it.
Here's the confusing part: if I use iTunes on the iPhone itself (not on the Mac), I can download and play those very same video podcasts successfully. Huh? How come they work fine on my iPhone when downloaded directly to it, but not when downloaded via my Mac?
Any suggestions? FYI, here is one of the videos in question:
    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?i=56243345&id=2965 02584

I've been having the same problem: video podcasts contained in playlists are skipped over the the sync process. (These same video podcasts will sync fine if I choose something like "sync only the 5 most recent episodes of the selected podcasts." The trouble is, I've just started watching a long video podcast and would like to watch it from the beginning rather than from the end.
Any advice... short of deleting all but the desired episodes and then slowly re-downloading them as needed?

  • My ical won't sync with iPhone 4 after IOS 6.0.1 update

My ical won't sync with iPhone 4 after IOS 6.0.1 update. The "sync calendars" option is no longer available after I installed this update. Any ideas???I have tried a few times to sync, and nothing has changed on my calendars. I have had so many troubles with this update. Grrr...

I tried the same but it did not worked. But, i got a solution. I accessed gmail on my laptop. Went to gmail settings. There is a option to add a device. A iPhone was already listed. I clicked Revoke to remove it. Then i clicked add new device and gave it iPhone name and a new 16-20 character password was geenrated. I used it to configure gmail on my Iphone and it worked beautifully. So glad i have been able to fix this. That password is a one time password to authenticate that device.

  • ITunes won't sync my iPhone 4 or connect to iTunes store.

Hello, I have iTunes 10.7 and it won't sync my iPhone 4, it gets stuck at step 2 "making backup", it also does not connect to iTunes store, it keeps rolling "accessing iTunes Store" and nothing happens, I checked the diangostics options, it says "Internet connection verified" and "Secure link to iTunes failed".
Note that I use Windows Vista Business (Service Pack 2), and that I made sure that Windows firewall allows iTunes to connect to the internet via both ports 80 and 443.
Note: my iTunes still syncs my iPod Nano 4th generation successfully but it won't sync my iPhone 4.

Man! thank you so much! After applying that command the problem completely disappeared and now iTunes is working perfectly! I really don't know how to thank you! I have been suffering from this problem since more than a month ago, I even bought new albums and couldn't sync them to my iPhone!
Not only that, I had also other issues with iTunes like when Windows starts up the "Apple Mobile Device Service" always occupies %50 of the CPU usage, that issue has been resolved also.
I also had problems with Google Chrome, Google Chrome was not able to open a lot of pages i.e. hotmail.com, 9gag, and sometimes YouTube, but now it's working perfectly! Seriously what kind of magice command is that?!
But I also was able to recognize what was causing the problem, I'm using the program "Internet Download Manager 5.19", and after I applied that command and restarted my computer, this window appeared:
First I clicked "Yes" and it asked to reboot the system, after rebooting, all the old problems were back, so I recognized that IDM is what was causing the problem, so I applied the command once again, restarted my computer, and this time I clicked "No" to this window, and now everything is working just fine.
Thank you very much for your help, you saved my life!
    Cheers

  • My Address Book won't sync with iphone anymore...HELP!

My Address Book won't sync with iphone anymore. After installing the latest update for iphone, my address book no longer syncs with iphone and vica versa. Anyone had this problem? Can you help?

Yes, I've done that plus have tried syncing selected contacts and also ALL. Still won't work...

  • Some videos from Aperture won't sync with iPhone

All the photos from Aperture (about 14,000) sync just fine to my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2, as do 282 of the 289 videos I have in Aperture.  However, there are 7 videos that will not sync; after the sync process, iTunes gives me an error message that the video couldn't be synced since they couldn't be played back on the iPhone or iPad.  The videos are all 50MB or less, all in the proper .m4v format using the H.264 codec.  Other videos taken with the same camera and converted using HandBrake to .m4v using H.264 sync just fine.  The videos play back just fine in Aperture, QuickTime, and iTunes.
I have tried removing all photos from the phone and re-adding them.  I have tried deleting the "iPod Photo Cache" folder from the Aperture library package.  I have reinstalled iTunes.  I even tried re-converting them in HandBrake to another .m4v file using H.264 but that wouldn't sync either.  No matter what I try, these same 7 videos won't sync for some reason, even though similar videos, some from the same exact camera, converted the same exact way, sync just fine.
Anybody experiencing anything similar?  More importantly, anybody have a fix or solution?  Thanks in advance!

Looks like its a software issue with the latest Itunes patch. I see several people are reporting this problem on the page and yet no solutions currently exist to address it. I tried several possiblities myself with no success. The only remaining solutions I can see are to "reset" your device and try to sync all appropriate apps, music, photos, etc.. once again. Two wait for the next patch, or three to attempt a recovery from a previous back up on your computer.
I do not have the time currently to attempt the ones I can do. If anyone wishes to try and can report a success I think many of us would appreciate it.

  • Some video podcasts won't sync after using iPod to move music to new comput

    Hi -
I used my iPod to move my music (and podcasts) to a new computer (from a PC laptop to a Mac Pro). Now when I try to resync it (on either computer) some video podcasts are not synched from iTunes to the iPod. In some cases, all podcasts from the same subscription fail to sync; in other cases, some podcasts synch and others from the same subscription don't. All of the podcasts that fail to synch are video podcasts.

yeah i'm having the exact same problem so thought i'd up this rather than start a new thread. for me, one particular video subscription won't sync at all, and another is fine apart from three videos. particularly annoying as it took an absolute age to actually download them, and now they won't sync.
    anyone got any bright ideas?

  • Purchased, mp3 and Podcasts won't sync to 160 gig classic

I have a six-month-old iPod Classic 160 gig, with about 90 gig of music and 10 gig of video on it. In the last two weeks, though, iTunes tells me that 109 tracks won't sync, with the error message "because they cannot be played on this iPod." Some of them, homegrown movies, I understand, but others are either podcasts downloaded through the iTunes store, purchased music (Sheryl Crow's new album) or recently ripped tracks that I did through iTunes using either 128 AAC or Apple Lossless. Most of the ones I've noticed to date were imported in the last 2-3 weeks, and play fine on iTunes, just not the iPod.
I've tried restoring the iPod and deauthorizing then reauthorizing the computer. Neither works. The next step, I think, would be to rebuild my library, but I have tons of playlists I don't want to recreate (or export/import one-by-one, which is how it looks like have to do it).
I can't help but wonder if this is something related to the latest updates to iTunes, seeing as how it's a such a new phenomenon, and there seem to be several similar posts (although not exactly my situation) in discussions.
I welcome any and all suggestions!

Podcasts are completely independent of Apple and iTunes, they're not from iTunes itself. All iTunes does is list the podcast and tell iTunes where to go and find it if you ask to download it. There are other (non-iTunes) Podcast catchers which do the same thing for other MP3 players. So I think that when listing podcasts on iTunes, Apple/iTunes does not consider it's playablity - because it's a podcast and that's the way of Podcasts! Also, the podcaster has probably not produced these podcasts specifically for the iPod and so has not realised that they don't work on our iPods as you and I expect them to.
You could try sending feedback to the podcast creator, explaining that their Podcasts don't play on the iPod itself. They may +_or may not_+ do something about it.
I've had this problem with both audio and video Podcasts. There is an option to convert selections for the iPod which I have tried for the videos, (click on the top menu and *Advanced/Convert selection for iPod/iPhone*. However, this process takes forever and I gave up trying it. I simply watch them in iTunes. I cannot actually remember what I did for the audio Podcasts, but if I right-click (in Windows that is..) on an audio Podcast, I see the option to *convert selection to AAC*. I don't promise that it will work, but you could give it a try.
As for the Sheryl Crow album , if it was purchased from iTunes, I would expect it to play on the iPod without converting it. The same goes for tracks ripped using iTunes on your PC. I can't explain that, perhaps someone else can?

  • Podcast playlist not synced to iPhone 3gs, 3.1 iTunes 9

I have a manual playlist that I drag podcasts into so I can just listen to them all from start to finish without having to select and play each podcast. It's been working fine with all my iPods and my iPhone, until iTunes 9.
I drag the podcasts into the playlist. They are there and I can play them fine on my Mac. But the playlist isn't listed on the iPhone "Music" tab to select and sync. So doesn't sync. It does sync to my Nano 4g.
I hope this is a bug that will be fixed. I actually deleted the playlist and created a new one. It's NOT a smart playlist.
Has anyone else run into this? I'd love to know if it is working for someone.
iPhone 3GS, OS 3.1 iTunes 9. BTW all the podcasts play fine from the poecasts page on the iPod. I just don't like to have to manually play each podcast. Especially since so many are rather short.

I've managed to find a work around.
I subscribe to several podcasts and had a smart playlist ("media_kind = podcast" as the filter). The playlist was fine in iTunes, present on my iPod (120G Classic) but empty. Just started happening with upgrade to iTunes 9. This same configuration has worked fine for at least 1 year. Same MBP, same iPod....(I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard too)
I played around with the filter, switched it to "genre=podcast"....same thing. Seems ok in iTunes, won't sync with iPod.
I solved it by changing my smart playlist to use "Album contains <podcast_name>". I toggled the playlist to use "any" of the rules and then just added each podcast by name to the smart playlist. Now when I sync with my iPod, all the podcasts show up on the iPod in that playlist.
For smart playlists, it seems to matter which rules you use to create them. Some of the attributes don't work (media-kind, genre) don't work, others (like Album) work ok. I haven't tried all the applicable ones. Once I got it working, I stopped testing.

  • Podcasts won't sync - error "no longer exist"

i connected my ipod to sync to itunes. for some unknown reason, itunes was blanked out and when it synced, it wiped everything off my ipod. i reuploaded everything from my hard drive and subscribed to/downloaded podcasts. however, now when itunes syncs with my ipod, i get a message that the podcasts no longer exist so it won't sync. help! i miss my podcasts!!!

It has nothing to do with being authorised, that doesn't affect Podcasts. Plus, you already have them on your computer.
Did you have to change the settings for the Sync Podcasts? If you did, then you may need to perform another Sync to make sure the "change" has been implemented.
    If not, then:
Have you previously managed to Sync Podcasts with this iPod?
Are they Podcasts, downloaded as Podcasts through iTunes?
    Are they iTunes U programmes?
    Are they video Podcasts?
Do you see any error messages when you Sync the iPod with iTunes?
Where, on your iPod, are you looking for the Podcasts?

  • ITunes won't sync to iPhone 3GS, iTunes appears to be wrong version?

OK this is really weird, my dad updated to iTunes 9.0.3 last night and his iPhone to OS 3.1.3, I confirmed this by checking Installed Updates under Software Updates in System Preferences. Software Update also says that the system is up to date.
If I go to iTunes > About, the version shows 9.0.1, even after I have re-downloaded iTunes 9.0.3 from Apple.com and installed it successfully, it still shows 9.0.1!
It was working fine for him before the update, now it won't let him sync anything to his iPhone (except e-mail, contacts etc...). With apps it says they are not authorised and it removes the icon from the iPhone page (the virtual one in iTunes that let's you position your apps where you want them), with his songs/podcasts they get sync'd, it shows up as 76MB music in iTunes that's been sync'd to it. But I went to the iPod app and it says there is no content there.
I just deleted something called the "SC" folder, and it when I went to Store > Authorise computer, it says "You already have two computers authorised including this one". So just now I tried to sync an app on the freshly restored iPhone, and it says "iTunes can't sync these apps to your iPhone because your computer is not authorised".
Soo, does anyone have any suggestions?
EDIT 1: I updated my iTunes and iPhone OS 3.1.3 before he did and mine is working fine.
EDIT 2: It seems I can sync Photos just fine, I've tried one podcast, and a normal playlist (not a smart playlist) without success, it shows on the capacity bar that I have 1.19GB audio (in blue), ~180MB photos (in yellow) and ~196MB of other (in orange) and FREE is at 27.78GB.
EDIT 3: In the iPhone under Settings > General > About, it shows 0 songs sync'd which is wrong, but shows the correct amount of photos (280).

It appears to be fixed, he had multiple versions of iTunes installed (since he put his iTunes in a different folder) the iTunes icon launched the old iTunes, even though the new was installed. it's working now.
