Some problems surrounding the battery

After what seemed like the longest wait of my life my refurb 2.0Ghz Macbook arrived today. So far, I love it, with the exception of one major problem. It says there is no battery. Because of this, the computer wont start up unless it's plugged in. I've tried every suggestion in the Apple troubleshooing area, and things that I've heard on the boards here, but nothing works. I just have the "x" in the battery icon. The computer still stays on after I've booted up and unplug it, it just won't start on it's own. Additionally, it will not go in to sleep mode when I shut the screen, regardless of whether it's plugged in or not. I've tried the PRAM thing and taking the battery out and holding the power button, and none of the suggestions I've seen so far are working.
Finally, it's getting really really warm. I'm not sure if I should be able to hear the fan or not, but I can't hear it at all, and I'm wondering if it's even working.
I'd hate to have to part with this thing and wait for a replacement of have to have it repaired in less than a day of getting it, but I would like the thing to work properly. Any suggestions?

Try to reset PMU as well and update the firmware.
And for your battery case, if all method already tried and still no luck, contact apple store immediately and explain your refurb came with defect battery and ask for replacement.
Also mention your problem with your MacBook, maybe you might get a new refurbished or instead of your battery, maybe they repair your refurb as well, since the refurb has the same warranty as new unit.

This is a major problem with Lollipop, but yo said it started 2 months ago. Several people have fixed problem by removing FaceBook And Face book messenger and then re loading the apps again. You might want to clear your cache before reloading. Not sure this is your problem, but worth a try. Good Luck

I created one apple I'd when I started using the iPad. After some days, I had to create a new apple I'd as there was some problem with the first one. Now at some places still my old apple I'd is appearing. Pls adv how I change this to my new apple Id.

Anything you downloaded with the first Apple Id will forever be tied to it, and will always require it to update.
The question here is, why did you think you needed to create a new Apple ID? What was the problem with the first one?
To get rid of th old one, you'll need to delete everything you downloaded with it, and then sign out of the ID in several places around the iPad.
Go to Settings->iTunes & App Stores->Apple ID->Sign out.
Repeat the process, for Facetime, Messages, Mail and any other App you need to sign out of.

I had the same problem after upgrading to the iphone 5, phone would heat up and battery would drain very quickly, 4-5 hours and my phone need to be recharged. I did all the resets, restored my phone, even reset the iphone and set it up as a new iphone setup and still the problem presisted.
Finally I noticed that the standby and usage where almost identical, which of course it shouldn't be, I then went to iCloud settings and turned everything off for except my contacts and Find my iPhone. This seems to have fixed my issue, my battery life is back to normal of, 3 hours of average usage and battery only drops 5-10%, usage is much lower then standby.
So, in my case it looks like there is a bug with iCloud where something stays active and causes the battery drain and the high usage.
I hope this helps others solve their battery/usage issue.

When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
In the Console window, select

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If you have done this like I describe above and the problem continues I suggest you contact Apple Support or make an appointment at an Apple Store and have your iPad examined by a technician.

Oh ok, well that was what the test said prior to reformatting the hard drive. Now, it doesn't find any trouble no matter how many times I run it. That's what has me so confused, everything seems to check out and yet...I can't do anything, not even install the software!
