Some programs incl search desktop lost after installing mozilla

i recently added Gmail address, and had to use firefox as something has happened to Internet Explorer. can no longer instal this program.
also Big Fish Games site, and also "search Desktop" button have gone as well.
error message with search "parameters incorrect".
very important buttons for me, I use continuously.
please help asap

This data loss issue has been reported to the developer of PD 6.2. Palm/HP, is/are not the owners of the software. The known causes are leaving Palm Desktop open when a Windows update occurs or leaving PD open when shutting down the PC.
There is no way to prevent the loss other than exporting your data on a per data change basis. The best option is to revert back to a previous version of PD as you have done.
The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a separate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.

Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.

I upgraded my system to windows 7 ultimate from Vista and installed itunes 64px. but when I copy the old itunes folder into D://music and opened itunes, all my music cannot be played. each link shows the mp3 location as: file://localhost/D://music/itunes... ... I ve tried deleting library file and copy/past the original one again. doesn't work. what should I do now. It's 106 GB songs. I cannot locate them one by one nor lose all my ratings and play counts.

Was that Win 7 update from Lenovo, or Microsoft? If Lenovo, it should have installed those missing features. If it was from Microsoft, you have to manually install the Lenovo drivers and software.
The easiest way to do that is to first install ThinkVantage System Update and run it. It should download and install the other drivers and apps. I'm running Win 7 pro 64 on my T400 - a MS upgrade clean install, then TVSU installed the Lenovo stuff. Everything works.
Use the "SUPPORT" button at the top of this page, then "Download drivers and software" enter T400, install TVSU and you should be off to the races.

Lost desktop info after installing Ver 6.2, sych would not update PC

The Win7 64 drivers are a good thing, syncs fine! THX!
After installing Desktop 6.2 all my desktop data gets gone except the media files. I had no way of importing backup files so I had to revert back to using Ver 4.2. Is there some trick to using the latest SW? The TX is using HotSync Ver 5.4.8P. Appreciate any help. Thanks

[Solved] Some programs hang/don't work after upgrade

Hi all,
I searched and read things but couldn't find anything on this.
About a week ago I ran pacman -Syu and afterwards some programs stopped working the way they should.
The two I have had the most problems with are thunar and clementine.
Thunar takes ages to load, but when it does load it's fine. Clementine will load really quickly, but then hangs when I try to play a song. It usually never actually gets round to playing a song.
Other programs also hang when I try to save a document/file. I think it's something to do with programs that access my various storage devices.
When I run thunar from the terminal or try to play a song in clementine when run from the terminal, I get the following message:
Error calling StartServiceByName for org.gtk.Private.UDisks2VolumeMonitor: Timeout was reached (g-io-error-quark, 24)
Does anyone have any idea how I could fix this?

The other problems are whenever a program tries to load a file browser. So for example in lowriter when I save a document for the first time it hangs for about 30 seconds before showing me the little file browser it uses to select a location to save the document. This happens for any similar function by a program (e.g. extracting files using file-roller, saving in inkscape, "save as" in firefox). However these programs' other features all work fine.
My storage devices are an internal hard drive (home partition), another internal hard drive (just storage), an internal ssd (boot and root), an external usb hard drive (just data storage) and a samba share on a raspberry pi elsewhere in my house. boot, root, home and samba are all mounted in fstab. Looking at it now though, it seems the samba drive is not being mounted and the internal storage drive is not visible in thunar. I just ran "sudo mount -a" and it's sat there not visibly doing anything, been like that for a few minutes now.
The terminal output in the original post is the error message for both clementine and thunar. Only the program encountering the error hangs, the rest of the system works fine. Once thunar has loaded, it responds quickly and normally. When I open a terminal to access drives through the command line, nothing hangs at all, so it seems to only affect gui file browsing.

edit: I needed to access a file on the raspberry pi, obviously the samba was inaccessible via my main machine so I plugged the pi into a monitor to access the file directly - it was having a kernel panic. I powered off the pi, uncommented it from my fstab and now everything works fine (except my pi installation). I had no idea an error on a samba share on a different machine could have such an impact on my desktop. Marking this thread as solved.

I've lost two thirds of my some 700 contacts on iPhone, iPad, MacBook and iMac after installing iOS 6. Is there a recommended method for restoring?

Some USB ports no longer working after installing Mountain Lion?

Some of my USB ports are no longer working after installing Mountain Lion onto my 21' 2011 iMac. I used to plug in my iphone 4S and charge it, or transfer files onto my iPad but none of the ports no longer work to do this. Funnily enough, other equipment plugged into the works. I have tried changing the cable. Any ideas?

In my experience, the USB ports on the back of an Apple monitor can be re-enabled simply by unplugging and plugging back in the device in question. You might also check to see that the USB Monitor hub shows up in System Profiler. My Apple monitor USB ports experienced no changes in moving to 10.4.7.

Endless 'searching for drivers' after installing 10.5

I have tried a Canon PM500 and an HP 2400, connected to USB port and to my Airport base station, I have done the special installation from the disk for both Canon and HP, I have 'reset printing system', I have downloaded drivers from Canon website. I reinstalled (regular) 10.5 on the G4 MacBook.They all say installation successful, and the printer is recognized in the printer chooser, but then the spiral turns endless looking for driver. The printing to the same printer from my MacBookPro (intel) and a G4 macbook with 10.4 works fine.
Any suggestions?

Another postee with the same problem found that when the spinning ball appeared, the cause was an Epson utility running in the background. He knew this wasn't right because he didn't have an Epson printer. He found that by deleting the entire contents of the Printers folder (./Library/Printers) and reinstalling the Canon driver he downloaded from the web, he was able to add the printer without the delay.

Some incoming mails are totally unreadable after installing 10.6

Some, about 20%, of incoming mails are totally unreadable gibberish after I installed Snow Leopard on my Desktop MacPro. The same mail reads fine on my MacBook Pro (also now running 10.6). An example of such a weird mail is here:

Oiga sM ssag ... and so on and on.
If I copy the unreadable message and paste it into TextEdit it converts to other unreadable characters and numbers. If copied into a MS Word doc it appears as perfectly readable text.
Has anybody seen something similar?

OK, I think I have found a workaround for the problem. It is indeed a font issue... (thank you, William Lloyd, to point me in that direction!)
If you get an unreadable message switch to "Reply" or "Forward" and you will be able to read the message (make sure your own mailbox font or message font - set under Preferences>Fonts - is anything except Courier or Chicago) and you will be able to read your mail. Select the message text and go to Format>Go Fonts and switch to several other fonts. As far as I can see all fonts work OK except Courier and Chicago. Obviously Courier is a popular mail font, so all mails written with it arrive garbled. If I use Courier or Chicago as my Message List font in the preference settings, all mail windows become unreadable!
When I write a text in "TextEdit" and switch to Courier or Chicago - it will become unreadable. Possibly this happens in other applications as well...
However - this only occurs on my desktop PowerMac, not on my MacBook, which makes this glitch especially puzzling. I have not yet tried to re-insall OS 10.6.

Lots of utilities lost after install Leopard

After I installed Leopard, some Utilities seem to have disappeared; this includes the Terminal and the Network Utility. I have of course searched (both manual and via Spotlight) in other folders as well, but I can't seem to find them at all. How can I get these utilities back? I cannot install just these parts from the CD, and I don't really feel like installing Leopard all over again.

Take a look at the "Custom installs support topic. Its written for 10.4 but applies to 10.5 as well. I'm pretty sure you can drill down to Utilities. EDIT: Perhaps not, it's not in the list.
If not, You can use Pacifist to extract and install just Utilities or specific utilities from your install disks.

I am trying to run my registered CS6 Design Standard programs for the first time after install. InDesign runs OK, but Illustrator and Photoshop will only run in trail mode. How do I activate those two?

I can't get my registered versions of CS6 Photoshop and Illustrator to run in full mode. I installed CS6 Design Standard online end of June (an upgrade from CS5.5), on my old MacBook Pro. I didn't run the programs then as I was waiting on arrival of new MacBook Pro. I migrated the programs from my old MacBook to the new, and today tried to run those programs for the first time. InDesign work OK (after an initial hiccup) but Illustrator and Photoshop will only run in trial mode, and won't let me save files. My CS6 Design Standard shows with it's registration in my Adobe Account. All seems in order, but Illustrator and Photoshop won't run in registered mode. Can you please help?

Please use the uninstallers to remove your current installation. They are located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder. Once the uninstall is complete you will also want to run the CC Cleaner Tool. Mavericks lost after install Windows 8.1 on other partition

So, I have MacBook pro 15' retina display running Mavericks. Then I need to have Windows 8.1 on my Mac as well for college, so I decided to have dual boot Mavericks and 8.1.
After I successfully install my Windows, then I restart my computer cause I need to access my Mac. But it doesn't drive me to refind, instead it opens the windows directly.
Then I tried to press alt/option button on booting, and I only found my windows partition there.
Is there any solution to get my Mavericks back? Is it gone? Why is it gone?
How to avoid this problem in the future?

If your OSX partition is gone you have done something wrong when using Boot Camp Assistant. Look in Disk Utilities to see what partitions you have on your drive.

I am unable to change the icons for my desktop shortcuts after installing firefox on my windows 7 machine.

All of the Desktop Shortcuts under properties show nothing about being able to change the icon.

Wireless Certificate lost after install

We are using machine certificates to allow only our devices to connect. When I install Zenworks, the certificate becomes invalid. Its still there, just won't work.
A reinstall fixes it and everything is fine.
Is this a known issue?

Yes, that key is required.
IR3A added that key as an option.
It does not matter when that key is added.
