Some questions and observations.

Every time I use the BTW tester it gives different results for download/ping and upload,none of which are accurate.
The quoted line below is what the so called futher diagnotics screem deplays at the bottom.
"If you continue to encounter a problem with a specific server, please contact the administrator of that server in the first instance."
So...how do I contact the administrator of the BT Wholesale tester server.?
There does not appear to be any way that direct communication can be made to any department in this company,we should not have to visit or even be a member of a forum to contact departments,it should all be done by links that are known to all.
And while on the subject of forums,how do I close my member account on this forum,?,it lets you register,but where is the option to close forum membership accounts.it is missing.

Newbie to keynote; some questions and some observations about this group

Hello, my attn was called to this group. I have seen some impressive presentations in keynote so maybe it is time to switch.
From what?
I do a lot of presentations. I use acrobat. Prepare my page in whatever app is best for the job; print to pdf; include fonts. By using the app of my choice I get just what I want in my slide.
I can readily arrange slides in sorter in acrobat. Allows minimal animation, by, say, preparing the full slide, make copies, and delete progressively. sort to show from the least to the fullest; works for me.
pdf allows touch up text and adding text, which I often think of at the last minute. Drawing an oval or line to point to something. For heavier editing open a slide in illustrator and save as pdf.
So, as I say it works for me. Not glitzy. Certainly pretty easy to produce decent slides.
Most everyone has acrobat on his/her machine, so if I take my presentation on a stick, it can work, nicely, cross platform. Very few occasions when that didnt work.
So I would like to hear folks' experiences. Can you take your presentation on a stick and show it on someone else's computer?
What about posting presentations. I generally put my pdf on my web page, giving the audience the url; seeems to work fine. Again I ask for experience.
Seems like quite a learning curve for keynote. And I browsed about 4 pages of discussion on this board before posting. I saw mostly complaints and problems, and not all that many solutions. And very few raves.
So, I would welcome some testimonials.
PS I dont want to do anything so glitzy that folks will come up to me after the talk and say nice animations; better they talk to me about the substance of my talk.

Welcome to the forums, troglodyte.
If you want a testimonial, I think that Keynote is hands-down the easiest to use presentation tool, and produces by far the best-looking results. It is far ahead of PowerPoint.
Keynote produced beautiful results, even when converted to PDF, as it has very nice graphics features (e.g., drop shadows, masking, transparency). If you are most comfortable with PDF, and don't need animations or transitions, then Keynote still has a lot to offer. That said, much of the "wow-factor" of Keynote comes from its lovely and sophisticated transitions and animations.
(These features needn't be just eye-candy, either, as they can serve to emphasize points and help unify certain material. For example, I use transitions that are more obvious, such as the "Doorway", to mark major changes of topic in my presentations, and more subtle ones, like "Dissolve", to change between related slides. This "grammar" of transitions helps to make the presentation more comprehensible.)
Keynote is not cross-platform, so you can't put a native Keynote presentation on a memory stick and be assured that it will work on someone else's computer. However, PDFs make from Keynote should function just fine. Alternatively, you can use various of the other exporting options in Kenote, including Quicktime, Flash, and PowerPoint, to provide more cross-platform compatibility than Keynote does (each of these conversions has its own limitations however). And several of these formats are also appropriate for web deployment.
I find Keynote extremely easy to use. Do realize that these forums are primarily intended for troubleshooting, so you won't find a lot of generic compliments to the application.

Picked up iphone #3, (3rd replacement) question and observation

Ok, working on iphone #3 (first one had battery issues, second one had display issues).
Question: Under my system info (call 3001#12345#), my new phone says firware.
I could have sworn my previous phones said firmware (with the 'm' included).
Anyone mind checking their phone and seeing what it says ?
So this new phone has a '7' series LCD, my first one had a 5, the second one was another '7' series.
Ive noticed that on this new phone, the display is noticably brighter than the second phone I had that was a '7' series. The brightness level at the 1/4 make is eqaul to what the brightness was at the 1/2 mark on the previous phone.
Pretty weird. Wish they would have gotten these inconsistencies and other things ironed out prior to launch. Two phone replacements in less than a month is ridiculous.

Yeah i just checked mine and it says firware. and my lcd panel id is 5755136. No clue what any of that means lol

Some question and problems on FSB:Dram

I have a p4 3.2 GHz like you can see here:
FSB is 200Mhz and it's ok
But i have 4 pc3200 ram modules in dual channel mode, i think that their frequency must be 200Mhz but it's only 160, and i can't activate pat, like yuo can see here:

Some questions and suggestions concerning Zen Mi

Firstly I'd like to say that I've already looked through all the knowledge base and web forum and unfortunately I haven't found out the answers for my doubts (sorry if there are these answers I couldn't find), so I'm here.
. Is there any way Zen Micro could display polish diacritic marks (from id tags)?(e.g. polish "l" with line/accent is never displayed, "z" with dot/accent is shown up as square)
2. You advise to plug AC adapter to Zen Micro first and then to the wall socket, so is it the same way I should do with usb cable? I mean, when I plug my ZM to the usb cable already connected to PC, it will be ok? So, is it any difference in usb connection order?
3. Is it possible to include in new firmware more sensiti've FM radio, at least change 00 kHz step to 50 kHz step? On the air where I li've there are a dozen or so radio stations and I could find only a few of them :-/ (yes, I have read "How to improve FM Radio reception" in the knowledge base )
4. Is it any possibility to reset the "play count" in Zen Micro? If no, maybe it will be in the new firmware? (it would be a great option)
5. What's about the "look up artist" function? I think it doesn't work properly. It should return all albums of this artist, not only currently played!
6. In the mp3 format (ID3 v2 tag) we can set our own genre name. Why doesn't Zen Micro show that?

Some questions regarding ESB system.

I've used my ESB system for a few months now, so I thought it would be interesting to look at what's going on in my database schema created by my esb system (oraesb). This led to some questions (and raising eyebrows), I hope some of you soa-experts might have an answer.
* Is my system installed properly:
I noticed that the oraesb schema created by running IRCA.zip installs only tables, views, topic queues and 1 procedure (create_queue). However, looking at the sql scripts in ${soaSuite_home}/integration/esb/sql/oracle there are far more stored procedures defined. Is it normal cq. okay that these objects are not installed or is my esb system faulty?
* No constraints or indices:
My system is yet very small, so it is still performing good/fast. I imagine that when the esb system is going further, performance and locking becomes an issue due to lack of indices on foreign key columns and primary/foreign constraints.
* Only small part of schema used:
When browsing through the tables of the oraesb user I notice that only a few tables are filled with data. For example all "Slide Tables" (this is the name given to these group tables in file ${soaSuite_home}/integration/esb/sql/oracle/wfeventc.sql) are empty. Is this normal? What kind of processes should enter data in these tables? What is the use of the "Slide tables"?
* AQ-tables not being used:
My esb system has five aq-queue tables (esb topics), but they are never used! I recall another thread on this forum about these queue tables growing enormous in size. I guess there must be a sort of switch somewhere to switch between jms-queue's and aq-queue's? Can anyone please explain how switch on the aq-queue's or point me to the proper documentation. I must have overlooked this in the documentation.

When your podcast is accepted you should receive an email telling you this and giving the URL for its page in the iTunes Store. The string of numbers at the end is the ID number.
It usually takes somewhat longer for a new podcast to appear in the search results. Once you can find it by searching on the title, you can get the Store page URL, if you still don't know it, by control-clicking on the podcast image (or where it should be) and choosing 'Copy Podcast URL'.

We're implementing Information Broadcasting. I have some questions and would be delighted if you could answer some or all of them!!
1. When using Web-templates I get the following message after opening my zip-file (Independent HTML-file) thru e-mail:
- Bex Broadcaster does not support Precalculation. What's the meaning of this? We get precalculate figures.
- The broadcaster demands that Javascript can be executed in the browser. How to solve?
2. When I broadcast a query as zip-file HTML with seperate MIME files then the precalculated views do not have drilldown functionality, i.e. the navigation block functionality does not work (static). I put navigation on Distribution channel. Is this normal way of working?
3. Broadcast functionality does not give possibility for Distribution type: 'Export to Enterprise Portal'.
We have an Enterprise Portal. Is additional customizing required?
4. Process chains have the Event Data Change process. This only works if I attach it directly to a cube. When I connect it to the process load data (i.e. to an Infopackage) it does not work. Any ideas?

Not sure what the issue is with regard to (1).
With regard to (2), you need to to click on the 'Filter Navigation' tab in the BEx Broadcaster, enavle filtering, and select the characteristics you wish to filter on.

New BrightSide Questions and Comments

I just got my BrightSide. I was eligible to upgrade about 4 years ago, but haven’t because of Verizon’s selection of basic phones. I looked into upgrading because I read on a news website that Verizon was going to start charging a $30 fee for upgrading. I did not see anything about this anywhere else. Also, I found out after I opened the box the box (which would cause a $35 restocking fee if sent back) that Best Buy and Radio Shack are selling the phone for $70 less. That’s $70 after my Verizon “discount”. I never thought to check elsewhere because I figured that Verizon would have the best price.
Overall, I really like my new BrightSide. It’s almost like a smart phone without having to get a data plan. I have some questions and some comments for those who are interested below. I tried to get answers from Samsung, but their support sucks. One person would tell me one thing. I would reply, get another person, and they would tell me something different.
Questions:
1) Is there a way to take pictures in “portrait” mode?
2) When a picture is taken in “send message mode”, it saves it at a lesser resolution as if I would use the camera (I have the camera set at 3.2 MP), take a picture, save the picture, then attach it to a message. Is there a way to keep the higher resolution of a saved picture? With both ways, the picture is “reduced” to send, but the saved picture resolution is still higher.
3) When I open my picture gallery and the picture has the arrows on the side, I can “slide” through my different pictures if I touch the current picture. By touching the current picture, it also zooms it. If I pick the zoom option when a picture has the arrow to the sides, the picture zooms, but does not let me “slide” through my other pictures. Is there a way to slide through my other pictures if I pick the zoom option?
4) The phone has a display and phone lock. Is there a way to do a phone lock quickly without having to go to the security settings and entering the security code? I do a phone lock because the display lock button is in a poor location. If I do a display lock, I usually hit the display unlock button when putting it in my case.
5) How do I know when the phone is fully charged? When I check the screen, all I see is something saying to unplug the charger to save power. My old Motorola phone had a message saying that it was completely charged.
6) Does anyone know which Samsung software can be used to sync Outlook to the BrightSide? Samsung has Kies, Mini Kies, and New PC Studio. As mentioned earlier, Samsung was not very helpful.
7) I have the text mode set to “Abc”. I usually double space between sentences when texting. If I go one space, it stays “Abc”. If I go two spaces, it goes to “abc”. Is there a way to double space and keep “Abc”? That’s the way that it worked with my old Motorola phone.
8) Can I use a microphone that is included with a wired headset?
9) There is a place for a strap attachment. Does anyone know what would work here? I think that the phone would be easy to drop.
Comments:
1) The charging cable is also a data cable. I figured that I would mention this because I did not see it anywhere in the documentation.
2) I don’t like the “limited” video resolution.
3) I don’t like that the camera does not have a flash. I also would have liked a little better camera resolution.
4) The manual and Samsung says that you can only use a microSD memory card, but you can use a microSDHC card. These are also cheaper if you don’t buy them from Verizon.
5) I sent myself a text message with some phone numbers in it from an email address. When I opened the text message, the phone recognized the numbers as phone numbers. I touched a phone number and I was asked if I wanted to call the number.
6) I have big hands, but have no problem using the QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard is one of the reasons that I bought the phone.
7) I like how the Brightside can “read” text messages.
8) I like Notepad. It comes in handy saving info sometimes.
9) I don’t like the plastic battery cover.
10) The voice recognition works well for me.

I have the Bright Side as well.....while I like the large screen (makes it easy to read @ night), I feel my "old" LG flip phone had more to offer than this one. A person needs more than 14 days to really work w/ this phone.
I was very unhappy that I couldn't change the color, style & put colored icons in my texts. Also, my phone shuts its self off whenever it wants which is a pain !
The salesperson that, more than happily, helped me with this phone, said "he didn't know anything about it and would I let him know how it worked". When I tried to reach this person again, he never returned my call. Not a good thing.
The camera is pretty good and I find mine does have a flash, nothing you can turn on or off, it just happens if it's dark enough. I would, however, like to be able to zoom in for a closer, clearer picture.
I would NOT recommend this phone to ANYONE! Oh yes, it's supposed to be Blue tooth "compatible" , that's a farce. You'd be better off buying a head set/ear buds to use...of course it's not a convenient as the Bluetooth would be, you'd be tethered to the phone BUT, hopefully it would work better.
A sales person from one of the Verizon call centers said I could replace this phone with a different one, nothing said about having to pay extra. You can bet i'll be going back to LG phones!
I know this doesn't address any of your concerns but just wanted you to know your not alone in disliking the Samsung Bright Side.

I tried to make an image preloaded and scale the image to
it's preferred size.
When I came to consolidate the stuff into a component, I
found the application goes weird as I implementation the show/hide
effect.
The third trial which just hide and show the images directly,
instead of using viewstack, fail to bring the second image onto
screen.
It just used fadeOut instead of fadeIn(you see there is a
flash of the second image)
After some study of showEffect and hideEffect behaviour,
seems the mechanism of hide/show a component works in this way:

From what I observe from the application, I have two
question.
1) When more than one component using the this._fadeIn,
this_fadeOut as the hide/show effects, the component in instance of
this._fadeIn? will it mess out if more than one component using the
fadeIn instance in the same time?
2) from the third component, i.e. PictureHolder3, when I load
other the picture , it fade out the new image instead of fading
in... Seems there is problem if I hide show too frequent. I think
when I hide then show right the way, the component only do the hide
part...
Can someone pls look into it and tell me what I did wrong?
Cuz in normal practice I don't think appropriate to use ViewStack
in Actionscript...

Some questions on versioning and synchronizing metadata

Hy all!
I am quite new to warehousing and Oracle Warehouse Builder, and so i would have some questions regarding on some common issues. I would appriciate if you guys would who have experience in this domain to share some good practice knowledge :)
I am using OWB 10.2
So first of all i would like to know if you have some proposal of the way of versioning control and synchronizing projects between team memebers when working on a bigger project, team memebers that don't work on the same repository (cause i saw that OWB has an integrated multiuser support for handeling object locks and user sessions).
I saw that a way of migrating data from one place to a nother is using the import/export options integrated in OWB. This creates mdl files wich are some kind of "dumps" of the metadata informations, but the thing with these mdl files wich i don't think is a good way to synchronize is that first of all the .mdx and .xml files contained in the .mdl (wich is kind of a zip) contains many informations in it (like creation date, some timestamps, etc) wich are always updated when exporting, and if synchronizing these files maybee using CVS, we always will get differences between the files alltough they would contain the same thing, only timestamps changed.
Then a nother issue with this, is that we could have 2 alternatives: dump the whole project, wich is odd to have to synchronize a single file between users, especialy on a big project, then the orher way would be doing for each object from the project (each mapping, each table, etc) an separate .mdl filem then to synchronize each file of each object, wich will be unefficient on reimporting each file in part.
So please if you can share the way you work on a big project with many implementers with OWB, i would really appriciate.
A nother thing i would like to know is: is there a way to generate from an existing project (like one created with OWB) the OMB commands dump (maybee in a tcl script)? Cause i saw that the way the exeprienced users implement warehousing is using TCL with OMB language. I downloaded the example from oracle for warehouse project, and i saw that is entirely made from tcl scripts (so no mdl file involved). And this i think would be nice, to have the OMB commands generated from an existing projects.
I see this OWB projects like a database wich can be built up from only OMB commands and OWB a graphical tool to do this (same as constructing a database only from DDL commands or using SQL developer to do this), this is why i am asking about a way of dumping the OMB commands for creating an OWB project.
Please give me some advices, and correct me if i sad some dumb things :D but i really am new to warehousing and i would really appriciate if you guys with experience could share some informations.

Depends. Having everyone working on the same project certainly simplifies things a lot regarding merging and is generally my preference. But I also recognize that some projects are complex enough that people wind up stepping on each other's toes if this is the case. In those cases, though, I try to minimize the issue of merging changes by having common structural objects (code libraries, tables, views, etc) retained in a single, strictly controlled, central project schema and having the developer's personal work areas reference them by synonym, thus being unable to alter them to the detriment of others.
If they want to change a common object then need to drop their synonym and make a local copy which they can alter, and then there is a managed process by which these get merged back into the main project schema.
This way any changes MUST go through a central schema, we can put processes in place to notify all of the team of any impending changes, and can also script updates across the team.
Every hour a script runs automatically that checks for dropped synonyms and notifies the project leader. It especially checks for two developers who have built local copies of the same object and notifies each that they need to coordinate with each other as they are risking a conflict. When a structural change is submitted back to the central shared schema, it is added to a batch that is installed at end of business and a list of those impending changes is circulated to the team along with impact analysis for dependencies. The install script updates the main schema, then also drops the local copy of the object in the developer's schema who made the change and re-establishes the synonym there to get back to status quo for the change monitoring. Finally, it then updates itself in all of the developer areas via OMBPlus. So, each morning the developers return to an updated and synched environment as far as the underlying structure.
This takes care of merging structural issues, and the management of the team should minimize other metadata merging by managing the worklist of who is to be working on a given mapping or process flow at a given time. Anyone found to be doing extraneous changes to a mapping or process flow when it is not in their job queue without getting pre-approval will be spoken to VERY firmly as this is counter to policy. And yes, OWB objects such as mappings are then also coordinated to the central project via import/export. OMBplus scripts also propogate these changes daily across the team as well.
Yep, there is a whole lot of scripting involved to get set up.... but it saves a ton of time merging things and solvinv conflicts down the road.
