I have some doubts and need some clarifications to clear my doubts......thanks in advance
can data be copied from one db say A to another db say B, if A is running on Windows 32bit OS and db B is on Solaris 64bit
can I have a primary db on 10.2.0.4 and physical standby for this db on 11g ??
I know RMAN can exclude tablespace but can we exclude tables like in dataguard %table_name% ....I know we can't just wanted to confirm
Can I restore one specific tablespace from PROD to test ????

Yes you can do it either through transportable tablespace or using exp/imp (expdp/impdp in 10g)

You cannot restore but you can move using transportable tablespace feature.

I have some questions on whitespace and & that need you kind help:
1. Except /n /t /r and space, is there any characters that are whiteSpace characters?
2. When parsing XML document, when the ignorableWhitespace() method is called? Will it be called from characters() ?
e.g. Where the white space after <a> is called, and where is the white space between test1 and test 2 indied is called?

It should be excaped in any element content, such as test1 & test2 - except for <![CDATA[ section?
It should NOT always be used in attributes? e.g. <a b="test1 & test2"/> - has to do escaped by entity & - am I right?

Thanks. I can change the forwarding settings in Gmail to be either POP or IMAP. That is quite simple. I just looked at those settings on the Gmail server and, to my surprise, both are enabled. In order for outlook client on my computer to receive IMAP emails I have to change the email account settings in my current outlook from POP to IMAP. I don't need to be using the Exchange version of Outlook to receive IMAP. I guess I'll do a little research tomorrow on Exchange so i can figure out what, if anything, it might do for me.
I glanced at the link you sent me and it looks like it might be very helpful - another project for tomorrow.
BTW: I hit "This Solved my Question" by accident. I meant only to "like' your response so you would get some benefit from the help you've given me so far. I hope I haven't discouraged others from taking a shot at helping me. I suspect there is more than one way to approach this and, as you know, my problem isn't really solved until I have what I need all set up and running smoothly.

Just installed iOS6, questions about "iMessage" and other things...

I've been a satisfied iOS4 user since I bought my iPhone4, but I was forced to install iOS6 tonight in order to download a "free" app. I found a few new icons on the screen along with about 200 percent more "Settings" I'd like to ask some questions about. I'm sure a few of these could be answered by doing a frantic and thorough search through weeks of posts but I'm a little short on time right now.
First, what exactly is iMessage? Looking at the page for it, I can't see any difference between it and regular text messages. The info page says its to avoid charges, but between my data plan and not being charged for text I don't see where theres any other benefit. The one person I text with the most recently asked me why I had not installed iMessage yet, and didn't have an answer when I asked him why I should. I guess he just wanted to see text replies in blue instead of green.
In a related bit, flipping through Settings>Messages>Send & Receive I find a "2 addresses" section, with my phone number in there as well as my email under "You can be reached by iMessage at:" and "Start new conversations from:". What good does it do iMessages to have my email address? Does the Mail app handle text as well as email addresses? That seems to be the only explanation, and also very odd to think I'd be trying to text through my Mail app.
Second, looking through the Settings>Mail I see now that I have an icloud email address as well as the mac.com address I've been desperately hanging on to for the past 10 years, and the me.com address they've been trying to force me into since those came out. (I was happy to see I could delete the me.com address from the phone. I wish I could delete it from the universe.)
I wasn't even aware there was a such thing as icloud.com addresses. When did this happen? What is it used for?
Third, under that icloud Setting I see a long list of apps with buttons labeled "Off" under it. What are those for? Under the Mac.com settings I see switches for "Mail" and "Notes", with Mail on and Notes off. The Notes app (which I haven't used since my old iPhone 3) still opens, regardless of this setting.
Fourth, I now have an item called "Facetime" under my Settings. It is off, but underneath it says "Your phone number and/or email address will be shared with people you call". I understand caller ID normally sends caller number info to the receiver, but why would someone need my email address if I call them?
Fifth, I now have a "Music" setting, at the bottom of which I see a "Home Sharing" item, which when clicked brings up my AppleID and asks me if I want to Sign Out or Cancel. What is Home Sharing? Its also at the bottom of the "Video" settings.
Sixth, now I have Twitter and Facebook settings? For what? I don't have accounts with either of those companies. So why have settings, especially since it asks me to create accounts and download apps for those companies right in the Settings?
Seventh, there is a camera icon on the unlock screen. Touching it causes the screen to bounce up about a quarter inch, almost but not quite revealing something behind it. I should probably just quit asking about this stuff already, but I'll take the bait - what is this now?
Finally, what is the Notification Center used for?
If I got a text under iOS4, it would put an alert on the Unlock screen. Scrolling through this huge list of things under the Notification settings I'm really blown away by all the apps set up to yell at me. I can see having an alert for a text message but Game Center? What the heck is that, and why is it set up to hit me with a "Badge App Icon" (whatever that is) when I get alerts from "Everyone". Similarly, the phone is set to alert me to something called a "Photostream Alert"? What is this? Why is there a Phone section for the Notification Center? So they can put a Notice on my screen to tell me the phone is ringing? Holy cow! The phone is set to send me alerts from the "Weather Widget". So if I miss the fact its raining there will be a message on my screen to let me know? Whats next - a buzzer to tell me I'm listening to music?
There's a lot more, like what would I need Passbook for when I have the actual movie tickets, gate boarding passes, coupons, etc in my hands, but we'll leave that for another time. Many thanks to all who can offer some answers to my questions above.

Some questions on versioning and synchronizing metadata

Hy all!
I am quite new to warehousing and Oracle Warehouse Builder, and so i would have some questions regarding on some common issues. I would appriciate if you guys would who have experience in this domain to share some good practice knowledge :)
I am using OWB 10.2
So first of all i would like to know if you have some proposal of the way of versioning control and synchronizing projects between team memebers when working on a bigger project, team memebers that don't work on the same repository (cause i saw that OWB has an integrated multiuser support for handeling object locks and user sessions).
I saw that a way of migrating data from one place to a nother is using the import/export options integrated in OWB. This creates mdl files wich are some kind of "dumps" of the metadata informations, but the thing with these mdl files wich i don't think is a good way to synchronize is that first of all the .mdx and .xml files contained in the .mdl (wich is kind of a zip) contains many informations in it (like creation date, some timestamps, etc) wich are always updated when exporting, and if synchronizing these files maybee using CVS, we always will get differences between the files alltough they would contain the same thing, only timestamps changed.
Then a nother issue with this, is that we could have 2 alternatives: dump the whole project, wich is odd to have to synchronize a single file between users, especialy on a big project, then the orher way would be doing for each object from the project (each mapping, each table, etc) an separate .mdl filem then to synchronize each file of each object, wich will be unefficient on reimporting each file in part.
So please if you can share the way you work on a big project with many implementers with OWB, i would really appriciate.
A nother thing i would like to know is: is there a way to generate from an existing project (like one created with OWB) the OMB commands dump (maybee in a tcl script)? Cause i saw that the way the exeprienced users implement warehousing is using TCL with OMB language. I downloaded the example from oracle for warehouse project, and i saw that is entirely made from tcl scripts (so no mdl file involved). And this i think would be nice, to have the OMB commands generated from an existing projects.
I see this OWB projects like a database wich can be built up from only OMB commands and OWB a graphical tool to do this (same as constructing a database only from DDL commands or using SQL developer to do this), this is why i am asking about a way of dumping the OMB commands for creating an OWB project.
Please give me some advices, and correct me if i sad some dumb things :D but i really am new to warehousing and i would really appriciate if you guys with experience could share some informations.

Depends. Having everyone working on the same project certainly simplifies things a lot regarding merging and is generally my preference. But I also recognize that some projects are complex enough that people wind up stepping on each other's toes if this is the case. In those cases, though, I try to minimize the issue of merging changes by having common structural objects (code libraries, tables, views, etc) retained in a single, strictly controlled, central project schema and having the developer's personal work areas reference them by synonym, thus being unable to alter them to the detriment of others.
If they want to change a common object then need to drop their synonym and make a local copy which they can alter, and then there is a managed process by which these get merged back into the main project schema.
This way any changes MUST go through a central schema, we can put processes in place to notify all of the team of any impending changes, and can also script updates across the team.
Every hour a script runs automatically that checks for dropped synonyms and notifies the project leader. It especially checks for two developers who have built local copies of the same object and notifies each that they need to coordinate with each other as they are risking a conflict. When a structural change is submitted back to the central shared schema, it is added to a batch that is installed at end of business and a list of those impending changes is circulated to the team along with impact analysis for dependencies. The install script updates the main schema, then also drops the local copy of the object in the developer's schema who made the change and re-establishes the synonym there to get back to status quo for the change monitoring. Finally, it then updates itself in all of the developer areas via OMBPlus. So, each morning the developers return to an updated and synched environment as far as the underlying structure.
This takes care of merging structural issues, and the management of the team should minimize other metadata merging by managing the worklist of who is to be working on a given mapping or process flow at a given time. Anyone found to be doing extraneous changes to a mapping or process flow when it is not in their job queue without getting pre-approval will be spoken to VERY firmly as this is counter to policy. And yes, OWB objects such as mappings are then also coordinated to the central project via import/export. OMBplus scripts also propogate these changes daily across the team as well.
Yep, there is a whole lot of scripting involved to get set up.... but it saves a ton of time merging things and solvinv conflicts down the road.

Few basic questions about sharing and other stuff..

First of all I know where are "101" pages, but they are not giving detail information.
1.I know there are some folders where I can put files, web-sites and other in order to enable sharing.
What do I have to do to enable other users (from internet to)
- view my webpage when they enter my IP address in browser
- to access files which I want them to be able to acces (with user and password required)? I know there is sth like sharing, and windows sharing, but I give access to my all user folder, do I have to create new accounts on my mac?
2. It's kind of small problem, but can I run apps in finder using only keyboard (enter causes rename action)
3. Why doesn't safari keep addresses I used in addres field after few days?
The most important question is 1.

1. Start Personal Web Sharing from the Sharing pane of System Preferences; if you have a router between your computer and the Internet, ports 80 and 443 need to be forwarded to your computer. You can set this up from the router's configuration page, which is accessible by finding the router address in the Network pane of System Preferences and putting it into a web browser. See this article for instructions on how to password protect your shared files.
2. You can use the Command and O keyboard shortcut to open the selected item in the Finder.
3. The default setting in Safari is to keep the history for 7 days. You can use the method posted by ptejad in this article to extend the time Safari remembers the history for. The method at the top of the linked page won't work in Tiger.

Hi Rajani,
To address dual reporting relationship ,OM has A/088 relationship,please check tcode -OOOT and select object type S-Positions and essential relationship.
OONR is tcode for number ranges -the first two letter in the subgroup denotes the plan version and the last two letter is the object type
for ex -01S-would denote plan version 01 and object type S-postion and whether the numbers are going to be asisgned internally by the system or externally by the user.
01$$ would denotes its application for all object types,should the $ be used .
select the subgroup and click on number range maintainance and you will be able to see the numbers assigned or edit them by clicking change interval button and you can assign the from and to number accordingly.The numbers gets assigned when the particular object is created.
ex-you assign the subgroup as $$S-which means its for all plan version and object type S
when you create an object type using PP01 for ex the numbers gets assigned for that object created.

I have an iPhone and I've been sending imessage to other people with iPhone. Some messages are delivered and some are read. What is the difference and why is this happening ?

Depends on the receiver. They can set their read receipt to on and you will get read on your end when they actually open up the message app to read it. If they have read receipts set to off then all you will get is a delivered even if they read it.

Why are some InDesign previews large and others small?

I seem to save the individual files out (they are the same physical dimensions) yet some have large previews in Bridge and others have small previews in Bridge. Any ideas? Thanks!

It seems to be connected to whether or not you saved Preview images when you originally saved the files.
Re-opening and re-saving in CS4 should solve the problem.

Is there a program I can use to retrieve corrupted .MOV files, from a HD memory card where some files will open, and others wont?

I have a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory.
I have recently shot some still and moving footage on my Cannon EOS 500 D (digital camera) using an AMICOE SD C10 8 GB high speed memory card.
After uploading these photos and movies onto my Mac, I am only able to open about 2/3 of the files that appear on the screen. In the case of the movie files, I can see a number of the file icons, however about 1/3 of them will not open (I get a message saying that Quicktime does not recognise this file - yet it is a .MOV file. Interestingly I can see a small thumbnail for each of these files that will not open, however I am unable to expand the thumbnail into the larger size) and there are a number of photos that simply do not appear as a file or thumbnail.
Is there a program I can use to retrieve these corrupted .MOV and JPEG files from either my computer or the memory card?

A few questions about Canvas and other Image related stuff.

I am just starting to play around with Canvas in the hopes of using it to make a little game (not an applet) in my spare time. I have gotten a ball to bounce around the screen and switch colors when it bounces without too much work. (hooray for me!).
I was wondering:
1) If you always have to repaint the whole area of the canvas, or can you repaint sections of the screen?
2) Can there only be one canvas per frame, or if you can have more, like say, one for each sprite (I tried in my own simplistic way but the second canvas overrode the first when I added it to the frame) or do you have to lay out all the sprites in one canvas every time before you paint?
3) Is Canvas the best platform for rendering my animations and doing collision detection, or are other ways of presenting the images better? By better I mean lower usage of resources, higher speed, accessibility of events that occur. (I have read in the mindprod java glossary "[Canvas] receives all the raw mousing events. Panels, in contrast, see only a few.")
4) In a call to paint which tells it to display some images which are much larger than the frame the canvas is in, is time and effort spent working on those pixels that aren't displayed or does it take about the same amount of resources as for images that fit in the frame since the same amount of picture is actually displayed?
5) Is there any convenient way to layers with canvas besides just controlling the order in which the images are painted. (I will admit I haven't searched for this information yet, because I just thought about it.)
6) Is there any other information you guys would care to bestow on me?
If any of this question is ridiculous, obvious, ignorant or any other negative adjective, then I apologize. I will continue messing around in the meantime.

Okay, well I got it to work by drawing them both to the same canvas. duh I guess.
Can you have more than one canvas in a frame? How do you set the size if so.
How do I implement the z-order? I thought of doing it manually by sending the paint method a list of objects to paint and manually managing the order of that list. Would that be an acceptable way to do it?
Should I only be trying to paint to one canvas? What I would like to do is have several canvases with transparent backgrounds so that I can draw different layers in the same frame. That way flying stuff would be painted on a different canvas than stuff on the ground, and then putting it all in a frame would tie the pictures together into a scene. Kind of like how they do distance in animation by having different layers of drawings on clear plastic that they can move at different speeds to give the illusion of depth.

Ran a previous version of FF, then closed and ran regular (5.0) version, but some add-ons, toolbars, and other stuff has disappeared. How can I get this stuff back?

I have been running 5.0 great for a while now, but today I tried downloading and running FF 3.6. As it was opening it stopped responding, but then I tried to force quit but then it worked and loaded up the pages I had open on 5.0 when I closed it.
I then closed the 3.6 version and ran the 5.0. I noticed a few things were gone or different...
~Several add-ons/extensions and toolbars were gone. Some of them were: Adblock Plus, Read it Later (and all its saved pages), Stumble Upon toolbar.... and more I am not sure of...
~Some of the saved sessions in my Session Manager add-on were gone.
~FF 5 seems to not be asking if I want to save my pages whenever I quit.
~The settings for how my tabs appeared has changed also... Like the color of text and where a new tab goes when I click on a link (to the right of the current tab or all the way to the right)... I am not sure if this is because of an associated add-on/extension being deleted.
UPDATE: I checked my profile folder and all of the extensions' data is all still there but FF5 is just not reading it correctly. (like adblock plus... I see the folder for it but FF5 doesn't have it on the add-on manager page when I run FF5) (The stumble upon toolbar folder is also in my profile folder but is not showing up in View->Toolbars when I actually run FF5)
Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks but I don't think this will help. Like I said, all of my add-ons were working fine and compatible until after running a previous version of FF. I am sure they are still compatible, but they are not working at all.
