Some things I can't do on solaris 9 - any ideas?
I am using S9, unfortunatelly there are some things I cannot do, maybe you know how implement their funcionality in a some way?
-history of passwords - not letting user use one of a number of previous
-lockout after number of logins
-failed attempts to login - how to log them?
if you have any ideas please let me know.

Only for some ways of logging into the system though.
If you are using the openssh.org or sunfreeware.org - I haven't checked the blastwave.org version - instead of the one that comes with the OS media, it will not log failed login attempts via SSH unless 'UseLogin' is set to 'yes' in sshd_config.
If you are using the Sun supplied SSH, then logging of failed logins is controlled through the 'SyslogFacility', 'LogLevel', 'MaxAuthTries' and 'MaxAuthRiesLog' settings in sshd_config.
Also, the last time I checked, failed logins through the various X environments also either fail to log this information, or log it to their own logfiles separate from the system.

When I download word docs my MacBook is adding the flv extension onto the doc extension and I can't open the doc. Any ideas?
Go to the main Library folder and look for a folder called Application Support / Microsoft.
There are a few folders in there, and you may have to do some digging. In one of them (mine is called MAU2.0), there should be a file called Microsoft Autoupdate. Open it.
It looks like this:
check the button for manual updates.
That should let you open the apps without triggering an automatic update. -
I am trying to pair my cell phone and tablet using Messages App, but only MMS messages will come through on my tablet. I've tried pairing and unpaired, reinstalling app on my tablet, and can't figure it out. Any idea how to fix this?

I have Elements 11. Sometimes, if I edit a photo in Elements Editor, the date gets changed to the current date. Why does that happen? It doesn't happen all the time, so I can't isolate the cause. Any ideas?

Was following prompts to update my ipod to iOS6 and itunes says the ipod needs to be restored, but when I follow the prompts to restore it says it can't find the ipod? Any ideas?

My Epson photo 1280 will only print 1/2 of a page from a document in Pages program. First print was fine. Have printed out a Mac templet and printer does same thing. Cleaned heads, checked nozzels etc. Any ideas?

Just updated my iPad to iOS 7 and it doesn't accept my password so my iPad is disabled. Information on unlocking using iTunes asks me to turn off Find my iPad. This is impossible as I can't access my iPad. Any ideas?k
Try reboot ur ipad... press home and power buttons until apple logo com up and then release it.

I am in my e-mail and a keyboard came up but only the left hand-side of the keyboard and I can't get rid of it, any idea how to make it go away?
Have you turned the phone off? If so, and it hasn't fixed the issue, try a reset:
Press and hold the Sleep/On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds. Ignore the slide to turn off indicator, and wait for the Apple logo to reappear. Release buttons. No content will he changed with this process.

The error that I am getting is this "Time Machine can't use the disk image because it can't be written to." Any ideas on the fix for this? When I go to the Time Capsule my Macbook Pro shows that it is locked, I think I did something wrong, but can't figure how to unlock it to see if that fixes it.
As far as we know, Time Machine cannot write to a disk image. It needs to write directly to the Time Capsule disk.
