Once I have closed firefox it will load the latest version of flash player but this will turn up in the internet explorer software but will not load the plu in into firefox which is my preferred browser. Hence all programs requiring this send me into a loop of frustration.

You can't install flash player on your iPad, nor on your iPhone - it's not supported on iOS devices, and as Adobe have stopped development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be.

Hi, glad that worked for you. Also thanks for the explanation as how you came about this. Yes, from my understanding any Install of the CS5, even a trial version Installs the 10.1 (beta/prerelease) versions. It is not clear to me or others why the 10.1 was used in the CS5 instead of the latest version (10.0.45.2). My only guess is that the 10.1 is very close to being released as a shipping version (final release) to the public. The 10.1 had a target date of the first half of 2010. Perhaps that was the reasoning. This is just my opinion:-)
As I said, many users are having this problem, not just with the CS5, but they Install the 10.1 thinking that will solve whatever problem they may be having with the latest version.

You don't need an Adobe ID or password to install Flash Player, but you may need to provide your system's Administrator password during the installation.

Come on guys, this is getting beyond ridiculous. The install always stops at 55% exactly, and never completes, leaving me to abandon Firefox for Chrome. I mucked about the last half a dozen times this happened during the update and just by sheer accident it managed to install, but it's been 2 hours of similar mucking about and I'm now getting nowhere.
This has been a persistent problem and affected many firefox users for years now, as I've seen both by my own experience and by searching google. Isn't there a way you all can provide a single SIMPLIFIED solution to this issue, either by coordinating with firefox or by providing a Firefox "unique" installer? Really it's too infuriating.
Anyway, before anyone asks, yes I'm logged on as the admin, and yes I've run the installer "as the admin" by right clicking. I've also gone ahead and completely uninstalled flash (and emptied the folders as requested in other threads here) and reinstalled, only to watch the progress bar halt at 55% as per usual and leave me clicking that stupid Chrome icon to have a working flash program.
Honestly folks, why, after years, does this continue to be a persistent issue? Fix it for the love of God! Are you lot the guys doing the ObamaCare website or what? We firefox folks are loyal to our browser, and installing new versions of flash on this browser is an unnecessary bloody pain in the you know what.

This is a Microsoft windows 7 PC, not Apple Mac.
slightly lengthy, but has stopped me pulling hairs out and stopped swearing at the computer.
Allowed for me to open e learning that needed adobe to continue with learning.
Firstly:
Download the current uninstallerUninstaller for Windows
Close all browser windows and run the uninstaller
Restart Windows.
Delete all remaining files and folders located in the following directories. (these directories are probably hidden away from sight)
(tip: copy and paste ONE of these paths into the path/search bar in an Explorer window)
C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash (if you are using a 64-bit system)
which should then display a white page with a top line in bold letters saying something like:-
"Index of C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\" as shown below:
This INFORMATION is only needed for the location as to where these files are hidden so DO NOT !!!!! click on any of the folders within this browser, as they will download into the download folder and cause more problems.
THIS WILL SHOW WHERE THE FOLDERS ARE HIDING WITHIN THE COMPUTER ITSELF, BUT THEY ARE PROBABLY HIDDEN, UNTIL YOU UNHIDE THE FOLDER(S) THAT YOU NEED.
MINIMIZE THIS SCREEN TO ONE HALF OF THE SCREEN, AND HAVE THE FOLDER OF THE COMPUTER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SCREEN, SO THAT YOU CAN FOLLOW WITHOUT HAVING TO REMEMBER WHAT IS NEEDED TO BE DONE NEXT
Secondly:
Go onto DESKTOP
double click on computer
then double click on "C"
go to organize on top left corner under backwards arrow,
click on "folder and search options"
click on "view" tab,
look for heading "Hidden files and folders"
click on "show hidden files, folders, and drives"
click "Apply"
CLICK "OK"
Most folders will be a bright yellow folder, whereas the hidden folders that you have now made reappear will be a shaded yellow.
You should still have the operating system IDE (C) folder open.
Thirdly:
Look for:
Open folder "Windows"
Open Folder "System32"
Find Folder "Macromed"
Right Click on folder and look down for "Delete" left click which will then put the folder into the waste basket on the computer.
Empty the wastebin if it is on desktop by right clicking and choosing "Empty Recycle Bin"
close all explorer/Google pages.
then repeat the process as near top of page from Computer --> C Drive --> all the way to
Hidden files and folders
Forthly:
THEN !!!!!
click on "DON'T show hidden files, folders, or drives"
click "apply"
click "OK"
THAT WILL HIDE THE SYSTEM FOLDERS
Fifthly:
CLOSE ANY FOLDER OR BROWSER ON THE COMPUTER SO THAT YOU ARE BACK TO THE DESKTOP.
FINALLY:
OPEN BROWSER
YOU SHOULD THEN BE ALLOWED TO INSTALL ADOBE WHEN OPENING A FRESH BROWSER -

I have followed every step in the various help pages I was directed to when troubleshooting the inability to install Adobe Flash Player on my Mac using either Safari or Chrome. Everything has failed. I always get the black box that says briefly, "Retrieving instal. . . " and then goes blank. When I close that window, I get the message, "Adobe Flash Player could not be installed." Then it gives some links to follow for troubleshooting. I have followed ALL of the links there and on other help pages, to no avail. I've run into problems installing Adobe before, but it's never been this bad. Would someone please develop another format besides Adobe? Trying to get help from Adobe feels a little like trying to find a building in New York City with no map or GPS. The time required is voluminous, the emotional energy a/k/a frustration is overwhelming, and long before I get anything resolved, I wish the earth would open up and swallow all things Adobe@. I jsut upgraded to 10.9 and it is up to date and also my safari is up to date (no updates available for it). My safari is saying that my flash is out of date. when I follow the links it lets me download but when I double click to install it tell me "“Install Adobe Flash Player.app” can’t be opened because it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store.". When I install the flash UNinstaller and try to install that, it tells me the same. I ALSO found the exact same problem when I tried to install the acrobat installer (some tried to download a pdf and the page told me that my acrobat reader 'might' be out of date). Any thought?
You're running up against the GateKeeper.
Download the offline installer: Flash Player 12.0.0.44 (Mac OS X) by right clicking and choosing "Download Linked File As".
Mount the DMG and when it opens, right click the installer and choose "Open".
You'll see a warning. Click "Open" again.
It will run from there. -

I have been trying for 3 weeks to rid my computer of the "install adobe flash player" popup. I have installed and uninstalled Flash Player as advised many times and contacted every forum I can find. I don't believe I should have to pay a fee to remove something Adobe installed on my computer without my knowledge (the popup reminder), The popup appears every time I start a program that may use it at least 15-20 times a day. I'm using windows XP Pro service pack 3. I use AOL and IE ver 8 for most of my browsing. Thanks for any assistance.
I think using your suggestion we've found a clue.. started task manager determined following app line was appearing when popup popped...FP_AX_CAB_INST..
ran search for file and found many copies in perfetch and a text log "SetupAPILog" which probably explains whats going on. I will attempt to send in this message
I also ran a "regedit find" found several "keys" with the file name and the word conflict mostly so far in downloaded program files (approx 500) approximately 100 referenced them selves to flash player install.
I will copy log to you below and wait for next suggestion hope this helps.
