Some URLs not resolving properly when using "www" ??

I notice that occasionally that a website won't be available when I use www in the address. For example, I was updating a myspace page by adding some graphics. When I added them and viewed the page everything was fine. I came back later to view the graphic again and there was a little "?" in place of the graphic. I thought it possible that the server that this graphic was being served from was down, so I double checked by going to the address. So, of course I entered "http://www.punkhouse.org". Safari had shown the site as not being found. I have had this problem recently and decided to try (the first time this happened was with Apple's website!) what I thought the problem was... and that is typing in the address without the "www". So I typed "punkhouse.org" into the address bar and it got to the site fine (I even took some screen shots of this, here is one and here is two.
These screenshots were taken seconds apart. Anyone know what the deal is here?

I just discovered that I am having the same problem now with Firefox. Every other time this has happened, Firefox would resolve the url without issue, now it's not.
Leads me to believe something with my isp, comcast, ... ?

Date selection will not print properly when using Microsoft Date and Time Picker Control 6.0 in Excel 2010

I have created a field input worksheet in which the user identifies start and end dates for training sessions, using the Date and Time Picker Active X Control. It works fine on-screen, but when the worksheets are printed, the dates that were selected
using the date picker calendar print out in an unreadable, huge font. The large font also appears in the print preview mode. I've tried modifying various properties in design mode, but nothing that I have tried will correct the problem.
Any ideas?

The DTPicker seems to have some bugs in it when used on a worksheet. I have overcome the above by setting the size properties to the same size as a cell and the Linked cell property to the
cell under the DTPicker. (Even setting the Linked cell had problems with an error message referring to the Check box property to be set to true so I just set it to true and inserted the linked cell and set the checkbox property back to
false.)
Then the VBA code below that Hides the DTPicker after a date is selected and unhides the DTPicker when the linked cell with the date is selected. The code is for 2 DTPickers so you will need to edit to suit your requirements.
Caveat: If the DTPicker is visible then you can't hide it by selecting the same date again. If this occurs then it is a multi step operation. First select another date and the DTPicker will hide, then click on another cell then back on the cell with
the date to unhide the DTPicker and then select the correct date.

Has any one come up with a solution to the "the disk was not ejected properly" when using time machine with an iMac and seagate back up drive?

I recently bought an iMac and love it.
Only proplem I have is I keep getting an error message "the disk was not ejected properly"
Everything is backing up fine on my Seagate 2TB external USB drive.
Each time there is access on the seagate and it stops in between needing to back up again I get this message.
Can anyone help?

The drive is malfunctioning.
If the drive has more than one interface (USB, FireWire, Thunderbolt, eSATA), try one of the other interfaces.
Check that the data cable is securely inserted at both ends.
Try a different cable.
If you're connecting the drive through a hub, connect it directly to a built-in port on the Mac.
If you're connecting it directly, try a different port.
Disconnect all other devices on the bus, or as many as possible.
If the drive is bus-powered, but has an AC adapter, connect the adapter.
If the drive doesn't work under any of the above conditions, it has to be replaced. You may be able to salvage the mechanism by removing it from the enclosure and installing it in another one, or in a drive dock.

Some of my AOL mails are not loading properly when using Firefox, they do come up when I use the AOL desktop, but they are S O SLOW

I have been using Firefox for a long time now since AOL became
S O SLOW with their Desktop Version in loading up mail.
But in the last two months I have been loading my AOL mail and some of mine and my husband's do not come up at all, even when they are forwarded by other people.
The header is there and it says the mail was loaded, but nothing in the actual page comes up

OK you need to upload these images to your remote server because they are missing from the server or that they have gone to a different folder.

In future always define your site correctly with all folders and file names without spaces in them. For example "drawings 20" is not a good name. You should rename it to "drawings20".
When you have corrected this especially when you have uploaded the photos again then they will appear all right on the page. after that you need to validate your pages for correct HTML and CSS but this can wait for now.

JButton not rendering properly when using JNI

Hi,
Has anyone ever invoked a JNI method through a java GUI only to find that the GUI is not properly repainting itself. In my case, my buttons become gray and the text becomes unbolded and blue. Its a very odd problem, isn't it? This occurs when I am porting Matlab code to C++ and then C++ to java. Any help that can help me proceed is appreciated!
P.S. Could this have anything to do with Concurrency?

Report window does not close properly when using openDocument

We have been experimenting with the use of openDocument and have managed to achieve what we wanted but have one small problem. When the document is retrieved it is opened in a new browser window. When Close is selected from the drop-down Document menu the document is closed but the window shrinks to approx 8.5cm x 6 cm and remains open.
A similar thing happens when we use the Preview button to view a document in the CMC, except in that case the document does not close and closing the browser window leaves a button on the Windows taskbar. There doesn't appear to be a related window as it cannot be restored but you have to right click and select Close to get rid of it.
Any ideas what is causing these problems and how we can get round them?

There are some parameters in opendocument (for ex. sWindow) that can help control certain things, have you tried employing anything like that? What I find frustrating is the behavior of opendocument based on whether you're running Infoview or WebI -- each product, using the same exact opendocument syntax yields different results. Based on the sample code below, what I'm seeing with Infoview is the same browser instance is used for calling the child report, however, in WebI, a new browser instance is started and the child report is rendered in Infoview. In my case, when running within WebI and getting a new browser instance in Infoview, and then using the "Document", "close" workflow, the second instance is exiting and I'm back to the previous browser. Staying within Infoview entirely through the process, when closing the child report I get brought back to the folder list page. Who's to know?

Query Stripping not working properly when using variable in the report

We have issue with WEBI document that have query stripping enable.
Once the query stripping enabled there is no data return in the report.
We have investigate on the problem, the query stripping function are notable to retrieve objects that indirectly used in the report
as we have
many variable in the reports.
Ex.
Var1 = object1 + object2
Var2 = Object3 + Object4
Var3 = Var1 + Var2
Var4 = Object1 + Object2 + Object3 + Object4
If we use only Var3 in the report, the object1,2,3,and 4 will not be
retrieve.
But if we are using Var4 in the report, the object1,2,3,and 4 will be
retrieve properly.
Please let me know is it a by-design behavior, if yes please share points on it

But my question is when we have a Variable in a report which is dependent on the other two variables it gives me #error so is it by design or not.

Dashboard does not work properly when using Word

This problem occurs persistently. If I am typing something in Word and want to switch over to my Dashboard to use the dictionary or write on a stickie note, two things may happen. If the widget is already selected and ready to be used, then nothing will happen and I can use it properly. However, if I want to click on multiple widgets, then my dashboard will quickly slide over and go back to Word as if I had chosen to exit Dashboard. This only happens when I use Word. Why is this happening and how do I fix it??
It is frustrating to try and type something in Word, go to my Dashboard to use the dictionary, only to be flung back to Word. The only found remedy is clicking on the desktop and then going to the Dashboard to use my widgets.

I opened my Word for Mac 2011, opened a document, and Then opened my Dashboard on top of that and used the Dictionary to look up a definition, and changed the month on the Calendar widget, and changed my stock graph interval. It all worked just as it was supposed to: fine. You apparently have a corrupted file somewhere. I do not know where.

for changing foreground color of text which depending on certain conditiosi need to print in
pdf format using xml reports and rtf files.
But i was able to get only 3 colors (Red,Blue,Green) for use, other colors such as orange,cyan etc are not
working.
Please let me know what all colors are supported by oracle in printing in pdf format using xml reports.
Suggest if we need to do some settings related stuff or so.

Colors can be expressed by known name and by a hex value. The hex value format is widely used in HTML programming, and has a format of #abcdef, and "abcdef" can be values like aaddcc and so on. For some primary colors, you can get away with #abc, but that is not very common.
You should always design with Web-safe colors in mind. That limits you to 16, but should be plenty for most purposes (plus all 16 have known names like red, cyan, yellow, etc.).

Comment is not working properly when using list values - multiple rows

I am trying to send comments in drop down menu but it is not working.
I have a list field with the following values ( "Not Started";"In Progress";"Completed")
the default value should be "Not Started" but if I select "In Progress" at the top and click save, I get it in all the rows.
can't seem to figure out why is not working.

Objects not initialized properly when using JSF dependency injection

I get NullPointerException at line :
this.getLogger.displayMessage();
Can anyone tell me how to correctly inject a property into the base class so that it is also available to its child classes?
Is my syntex in faces-config.xml correct?

You are confusing classes with instances. When you define a bean in the faces-config.xml, you create an instance of that class. I'm sure you understand that if you create an instance of the base class and change its properties, that has no effect on other instances of that class or of the derived class. (For some reason however, it is easy to forget this when dealing with containers.) So the property configuration for the bean BaseBackingBean has no effect on the bean BackingBean in your example above.
A better pattern to use in this situation is aggregation rather than extension. In other words, define the base bean as a utility bean and inject it into the old derived beans as a property. Now all the old derived beans have access to the same instance of the utility bean with the same configuration. If you want to use the same configuration without re-using the same instance, take a look at the "none" managed bean scope.

Youtube's video layout does not appear properly when using Firefox.

This is what Youtube videos look like when I watch them; the option buttons normally under the video are now hidden by the video. They are still clickable, but pretty much unviewable. This only appears when I'm using Firefox.
I'm on Firefox 3.6.12, and on Mac 10.5.8. My plugins for flash and such are all up to date, and I disabled any add-ons relating to Youtube to see if they were effecting it. No results.

this is caused by kwiclick. disable that addon and it's fixed.
kwiclick adds the little icons on top of the video that pushes it down, covering the lower buttons and viewcount. you can see the icons in OPs picture.

Reminder does not work properly, when using multiple lists

I am using Reminders on my iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.. I am using several Lists for Reminders, such as Job, Home, General et cetera.. Everytime I am not using the standard List, set a Reminder in the future and save the event, the event will be displayed on the standard List with the current timing. Very annoying as I need to amend the Reminder for a second time.

I opened my Word for Mac 2011, opened a document, and Then opened my Dashboard on top of that and used the Dictionary to look up a definition, and changed the month on the Calendar widget, and changed my stock graph interval. It all worked just as it was supposed to: fine. You apparently have a corrupted file somewhere. I do not know where.

Up and down arrow keys are not working properly when using SQL CLI on Linux

Every time I hit up, down, left, and right arrow keys to return to a previous sql command I got ^[[D, please any hints to fix this issue?
The backspace works fine with me. I tried to use stty to fix this issue with no luck.

Which SQL client and Linux version are we talking about?
Assuming you are using the Oracle sqlplus client... it does not support command line editing and history using the arrow keys. For this to work you will have to install a product called Readline Wrapper. See my answer at the General Database forum:
