Some video's won't open in flash player

I have windows XP service pack 3 and IE 8. On some web sites, some but not all of the video's won't open.I get no error code or anything, but there is what looks like a capital "T" in the upper left corner of the box where the video should be. There is what looks like a red dot in the left angle of the "T". I have the most current flash player, 10.1.102.64 as confirmed when I go to Adobe ..../about. The same video will play if I use Chrome, and the strange thing is that the same video WILL play if I open IE8 using my wife's user account. I have concluded that it must be one of my IE8 setting, but I have compared setting on the two accounts and I can't find the problem. Any suggestions?

If the .swf, you need to create a file association to the projector.

From there I was able to export an .exe file with an embedded projector for users that may not have flash player. That sounds more Windows file association issue.Have you tried to Right-Click your SWF and choosed Open With (or something like that), you can choose Flash Player from that list if it´s installed.

If iChat is Open and your think Accounts/Screen Names are logged in then go to the Window Menu
This should list the accounts that are logged in with various keystrokes ( Apple/CMD ( or ⌘) and a Number) shown next to them.
Using these should get the Buddy list "back".
It is possible to Hide the Buddy list and then Quit iChat.
iChat will then "remember" where the windows were eve if this was Hidden.
Can you confirm that after reinstalling or restoring from Time Machine with possibly an Earlier Version you have Downloaded the COMBO version of OS X 10.6.8 and "run the COMBO" (Installed it - again) to update iChat ?
It is possible the text chat Window is also Hidden on double clicking a Buddy.
The easiest way for this to happen is to use a second Display and drag some windows to the second Display.
iChat "remembers" where you last had Outgoing Chats so Audio and Video windows will be where you left them as will Text Chats.
Incoming Chat Invites are normally in set places unless there is a chat already open to that Buddy.
With Windowing issue like this is sometimes pays to delete com.apple.ichat.plist itself (on it's own) and restart iChat (this plist holds the window positions amongst other things)

Video files won't open on burned cd-r

when trying to burn Video files some or all won't open on burned cd-r. I get an error#6 message. What does that mean and why can't I copy and back-up my files to a CD? Please explain whats up with this problem.

Much depends on what kind of video files are you talking about. Where are they from.
If these are Video TS files they will be DVD, not CD.
If this a Commercial DVD Movie again, it will not copy on CD.
Tell us exactly what video it is you are talking about and what is the source..

MP4 H.264 video won't play in Flash Player

I am using a Mac Book, OS X 10.8.5; FireFox 32.0.1; Flash Player 16.0.0.305. I am trying to play video (MP4 H.264 format) that works on VLC, Quicktime Player & Real Player but won't play through Flash Player. Why?

I'll take a look at the GPL sources to see how the firmware encodes the video output, I think the mpeg encoder might be built into the firmware's Linux kernel (instead of a stand-alone encoder program), I see references to the IBM mpeg2 headers but I'm not sure. But honestly addressing this possible bug is not the first thing on my todo list, but I do fidn this report interesting enough to merit investigation.
May I ask what you are using for the Samba server (aka windows shares)? Do you use your desktop PC, or perhaps a NAS server?
As an interim thing to try, I advice you install VLC media player to view the files, or to use VLC to examine the media files properties to see what you can findout.
IF you must use Windows media player, then I suggest you look into the combine community codex package.

When it reached 60% a window opened indicating that "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working", with the only option being to "Close program."
I've since tried to open organizer several times, but it goes immediately to "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working". I was able to open Editor, and tried opening Organizer from Editor, but encountered the same problem.
FYI, I have an open case (#0214505556), but have not received the help I need.

There are no more updates for Java from Apple for 10.5.8, the only way to get a Java upgrade is updating your OSX.

Embedded Youtube videos not working on Chrome 23 / Flash player 11.5.31.2

For the past couple of weeks, I've not been able to play any Youtube videos that appear as embedded videos on other websites. The small player appears with the still frame from the video and all the controls, but on pressing play, the video goes blank and won't play (the slider stays stuck at 0:00). Nor does the full screen button work - the player just stays where it is within the third party website. This problem has occurred across more than one website, but all sites still work in Internet Explorer.
The main Youtube site is still working.
I have tried all relevant steps here, to no avail (except increasing memory for a particular website, since not just one website is affected):

Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.

Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.

Force linked .swf to open in flash player

i have two files i'd like to play sequentially. both have a
flash preloader appended to them. the captivate file is published,
then externally linked to a flash 8 file with a preloader in it.
the first movie opens in flash player, but when it jumps to the
second (linked) file, it opens in firefox. the files are linked
using captivate 2's option in the export preferences area. i've
looked in the xp file type pane, and flash player 8 is specified as
the default player for .swf files.

hopefully this isn't a total waste of everyone's time, i seem
to have found the answer! though you can specify which file types
are opened by which applications in xp, firefox seems to override
those settings. if you change the file type preferences in firefox
(in this case you need to switch flash movies to open with flash
player and not the shockwave plugin), it will finally open in flash
player.

So as i say can't watch video and play games that require flash player, they keep asking me to install flashplayer... i did everything i read in the forums, unistall it, clean the memory, reinstall it, disabe active x etc... but still have the problem.
More specific about my problem is that: let's say that i'm trying to look at you tutorial video under thi forum Re: How do I fix Windows permission problems with Flash Player? i'm just seeing a black screen. So I'm able to guess where is the play button so when i push on that place, i can hear the sound of that video. Second step guessing where is the enlarge button, and when the screen is enlarged, magic i can see and hear the video.... So you figure that it's impossible to use my computer like that and guess right all the time, so....
Second fact, it seems that bug happened after an update (windows or explorer) and i even talk with a microsott tech who was not able to resolve it... But if i'm undoning the update and go back to a prior image, i have no problems with flash player anymore... it' been moths that i'm delaying my updates cause i cannot find any solutions.... So Please please please, help me .... don't know what's the problem is and i'm not a pro, don't know what to do. (Excuse my english it's my second language)

The first thing I'd try is updating your video driver.

If you still have problems and since you're using Windows 7 x64, please check to see if you have the following Windows update installed:
KB2670838 – Platform Update for Windows 7 x64
If so, please uninstall it and try Flash Player out again.

1. Install Adobe Flash Player.
   System Preferences > Flash > Advanced
    Preess "Delete All".
    Press "Check Now" button.
    Quit Safari.
    Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
2. Enable Plug-ins
    Safari > Preferences > Security
    Web Content: > "Enable Plug-ins".
       or
    Internet Plug-ins > "Allow all other plug-ins
3. Check whether you are currently in YouTube HTML 5 trial.

    At the bottom left of the page uncheck the box for
   "You are currently in the HTML5 trial".
4. Reset Safari.
    Click Safari in the menu bar.
    From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
    Uncheck the boxes next to all items.
    Check the box next to "Remove all website data".
    Click "Reset".
5. Turn off Extensions/Plug-ins if any that may interfere with Flash working properly.
    Safari > Preferences > Extensions
     Now try YouTube.

Compressor often produces movies that won't open in QT player

When I compress files using Compressor 3.0.1, often the resulting files won't open in QT player. Instead, an error pops up which says that this file can't be opened by QuickTime Player.
This happens not always, but often. Maybe 50% of all the submitted jobs. I use presets for iPod and Apple TV (DV to H.264).
When I submit a job, everything works fine. When the compression finishes, it usually takes a few moments to prepare the file for the particular device (Apple TV or iPod). If this last step takes a minute or two, the files are ok. But often this last step takes very very long. Those files are not usable. I guess this last step is the point where something bad is going on.
I use a small cluster with Qmaster: one G5 Quad and one Mac Pro (8 core). I tried to use only one of these machines: same result. It's not tied to one particular machine. Or is it?
Any hints?

Bumping into an issue with stitching together segmented encodes? Ouch.
Does this happen whenever you use clusters for encodes? What I mean is, if you use a truly multi-threading encoding scheme - MPEG-2, for instance - does this issue creep up?
What about if you use Unmanaged Services (aka Virtual Clustering) instead of a proper Qmaster cluster?
