Some videos fail to sync from iTunes to iPod Touch

There are 38 movies (or videos) in my iTunes and total is 3.45GB but when I sync this with my iPod Touch only 22 of these are sync into my iPod. iPod capacity should not be an issue: i still got 4.18GB free space and the entire movie/video library is only 3.45GB (after 22 of the 38 videos have been stored).
When I go to "DEVICES" under iTunes and go to my iPod and then check out the "Movies" tab, I can see the FULL list of the 38 movies but some of them are in black text and others in grey text. Those in grey text are not sync onto my iPod Touch. What should I do? Please don't tell me to reset the iPod Touch!

The videos that show in grey text are not in the proper format to play on your iPod. Select the video in your music or movie library and use the iTunes "Advanced" menu to "Create an iPod or iPhone version".
Then try your sync again.
The iPod Touch will only accept video formatted as described here: http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/specs.html

  • Some Podcast Playlists not syncing from itunes to ipod

There's no problem with the actual podcasts syncing to my ipod and they play on the ipod.  The playlists are the same in both itunes and the list of podcast playlists on the ipod tab in itunes.  I've reset the plays, deselected and reselected, set them to not auto delete.  I've 'Marked as Watched' and then 'Marked as Unwatched'.  All the playlists are set up the same way.  I've tried sycing using both methods of 1, using the 'File> Devices>Sync xxxx etc and 2, the sync tab in bottom right corner of the 'Podcasts' tab(ipod tab in itunes when ipod connected).

    Just a stab:
The song titles need to have a check mark next to them in order to sync.

  • How to correctly sync from Itunes after Ipod touch

    Hi,
I just got a new Iphone 3G, after having used an Ipod touch. I synced the Iphone from Itunes, and all my existing apps and settings have synced OK, but all the apps are empty and none of my photos, videos etc. have synced - even though I went through every tab on the device in Itunes and pressed Sync. What do I need to do to get my Iphone just like my Touch?
    Thanks,
    Richard

Disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected under preferences in itunes. Make sure you have at least one contact in the contacts list on your phone. Connect your touch, do not sync, rather right click the touch in the device pane and select "backup". Once complete, un-mount your touch, connect your phone, DO NOT SYNC, right click the phone in the device pane & select "reset warnings". Once done, right click again and select "restore from backup". Select the backup you just made. Once the restore is complete, this must be followed by a sync to put your itunes content back on your phone. You should get a popup regarding your contacts, to merge or replace, select merge. All you should have to add to your phone are wifi & email passwords, as these are not copied over for security reasons. Your phone should now look exactly like your touch.

  • Some music not syncing from iTunes to iPod Touch

I downloaded music from two different artists recently. I created playlists for both. I changed the number ordering on the playlists a bit. And now I no longer have those artist's music on my iPod. I have tried:
    * Restoring original settings
    * Double checked the file types on the music
    * Manually added the music back on to the iPod, then synced
    * Adding ALL of the music library onto my iPod (hoping those artists will be added too)
    Nothing has worked. Any suggestions??

  • Cannot copy songs from itunes to ipod touch, although I've downloaded latest itunes version. Please help..

I've downloaded latest version of itunes but still didn't allow me to drag the songs that I want to my ipod touch. Anybody could help?? Thanks!

    Hello Juminten Cinta,
Since you are trying to manually add content to your iPod Touch, have you double checked to make sure the Manually manage music and videos option is ticked from under your iPod's Summary tab?
If it's already ticked, what exactly happens when you try to drag the songs over to your iPod?

  • Syncing/Video Format issue from iTunes to iPod touch

I recently upgraded to a 4th gen touch from 4th gen iPod. All my previous videos were able to be synced properly. Ones I just purchased from iTunes store, however, I cannot load onto my iPod touch. I'm not able to sync it nor drag it into my device to upload.
This is the message I receive when syncing: +"Some of the videos in your iTunes library, including "xxxxxx" were not copied to the iPod "xx" because they cannot be played on this iPod."+ When I clicked further the message reads +"...the video format is not supported by this iPod."+
All of these are regular ole TV shows in MPEG-4 format. Yes, I can watch them on my computer. Yes, my software is up to date. Yes, I have iTunes 10 (and reinstalled it). Yes, my properties are to automatically sync my TV shows (which is why I'm constantly getting above error message). Yes, I restarted and reformatted my iPod touch.

Have you tried using the Create iPod and iPhone Version in the Advanced tab of iTunes? That opion is made to convert most formates to the iPod and iPhone compatible formats.

  • Music and videos do not sync from iTunes to iPhone 4

Hi all, any help on this issue appreciated. I have recently purchased an iPhone 4 and wanted to sync music and some videos on to it. I have successfully done this on my iPod Nano. But when I attempt it with the iPhone 4, the iTunes program freezes or stalls, and in Windows task manager it shows the program as 'Not responding'. I've probably tried it about 10 times now with different songs or videos but the same thing happens.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening. Could it be my PC just being a bit old? Seems strange though when it works fine for the iPod.
    Thanks

I'm having that problem with a number of podcasts as well. I'm getting a error message that the files will not play on the iphone.
I've tried switching usb ports, restoring iphone, uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, fixing permissions, rebooting, etc.
I've been able to download a podcast onto the iphone through the itunes app, which then plays fine until I synch w/ itunes and then itunes removes the podcast.
    help?

  • Some songs won't sync from iTunes to iPhone

Ok, so I have had the 4S for some time now, and I am really beginning to be frustrated with the fact I can't sync all of my music. It's almost as if anything I purchased prior to getting the 4s (had 3GS prior) will not transfer over. I have tried syncing all music, removing everything, restoring, and nothing works. iTunes allows me to play the music, and it syncs fine with my iPod with no issues. No matter what I try about 200 of the 500 songs I am trying to sync are actually on my iPohone, yet all of them are on the iPod just fine. I have plenty of room on the iPhone, and I receive no errors (even reset warnings just in case it was something I previously shut off) when trying to sync to indicate they won't be there. In fact the "Capacity" bar shows the space it should take up, then after I sync and go back the space is cut in half.
No one has been able to help, can anyone please help! The songs its deciding not to include are some of my favorite...to the point I bought two of them a second time

If these earlier songs were purchased with a different Apple ID, you might try on your phone going to Settings>Store>Apple ID, tap the ID shown, sign out, then sign back in using this earlier ID.  Do the same with iTunes on your computer (signing into the iTunes store with this earlier ID). For good measure, restart your computer and your phone, then try syncing the music to see if it will transfer now.  If it does, you can to back and reset your Apple IDs the way they were before.

  • Apps won't sync from itunes to ipod

Hi everyone, hopefully someone can help me with a frustrating problem!
As it stands I can download apps (via my ipod) and use them with no problems. However, I cannot sync ANY apps currently stored on my computer to my ipod. Ipod + itunes are both up to date, settings are the same as they always have been (working with no problems for the last year), music and video syncs fine.
If I remove an app from my ipod I cannot put it back on....all relevent boxes are ticked but apps won't appear in the ipod screen viewer within itunes.
Any help would be great thanks.

Have you reset your iPod and rebooted your computer?
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Songs not syncing from iTunes to iPod

I'm in the middle of transferring computers for the fourth time, and each time I run into a different problem. This time, I've successfully transfered my songs from my iPod (5th generation) to iTunes, but I can't sync songs or movies onto my iPod from iTunes. Is this a problem with iTunes or my iPod, and how do I fix it?

Check your update settings. Connect your iPod and click on it's icon in the iTunes source list (the narrow pane on the left). This will bring up the preferences tabs in the main pane on the right. The first tab you'll see is Summary, look for "manually manage songs and videos", if there is a check mark there then the iPod is set to update manually and you have to drag songs from the iTunes library to the iPod to load them on. If you want to update automatically you need to remove the check mark from there (I would also remove the "enable disk use" check mark unless you want to use the iPod as a removable storage device) and click the Apply button in the right hand corner:

  • Need help with syncing from ITunes to IPOD

Hi. I'm relatively new to ipods but I just got an IPOD mini. Since it only has so much memory(about 4g) I want to sync specific songs, not have Itunes do it automatically. When I clicked on the "manually manage music" I can see it works but only to a certain extent. You have to drag EVERY SINGLE SONG to IPOD in Itunes INDIVIDUALLY!! I cant do that everytime I wanna switch up my IPOD library. I also clicked "only sync clicked items" hoping that in my normal music library, if I click the box to the left of each song that I want to be synced and uncheck the songs I dont want sync'd that would work. Will it? Because that's all I want to do, just sync particular songs without having to drag 1000 songs. Clicking would be so much easier.

Using unchecking to manage an iPod is an option but only if you can live with the other things unchecking does:
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
A better option to use when your iPod is smaller than the iTunes library is 'Sync Music - Selected playlists'.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make this a normal playlist and drag whatever you want to it or you can make it a random Smart playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano or Mini). Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting:

  • Some songs do not copy from iTunes to iPod

This is very frustrating. I have a 5th Generation 60gig iPod. There are about 20,300 songs in my library, none of them from the iTunes store. All legal, all owned by me and I have the CDs to prove it. When I update the iPod all but about 4 or 5 songs copy over. The frustrating thing is there's no way to find out which songs are not copying over to the iPod, so I can't tell if there's a problem with them or what. AppleCare tells me the only way to find out is to visually compare the list on the iPod with the list in iTunes. I have 20,000 songs here and allegedly one of the most powerful computers you can get and I have to compare two nearly identical lists visually?? Oh, by the way I'm running 10.4.6 and the latest version of iTunes and the latest iPod update. This never happened with my 4th Generation iPod. Any thoughts at all of what to do would certainly be appreciated.
    Powerbook G4, iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Are you basing the few that don't get sent to your ipod on the file count? Could there be duplicates? I've noticed that there are some of my movies that don't get sent over but I usually get a warning that they aren't in a compatable format.
There is an option in either file or edit (can't remember exactly where, I'm at work) but you can filter to show all the duplicates. I've noticed that when I drag files over to be copied to my ipod and there are duplicates, it only does one.
After you find the culprits, another thing would be to export the file to your desktop. Delete it from iTunes then reimport it making sure of the file format.
    just a thought

  • HT1386 Problem Syncing Music from Itunes to Ipod Touch.

I have one music album on Itunes that won't sync with my Ipod touch.  I tried deleting it from Itunes and then adding it again.  Still not on Ipod.  Also, I have several albums in Itunes that the music will sync but the album artwork will not.

Try redownloading them directly to the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Sync them to your iPod for an iTunes library using the manual method
