Some videos import without any sound!

Hi there, I bought my iPod Video the other day, and when I choose the option to "Covert selection for iPod" when I right click on the video, it converts the video, and when I select it to listen to it the video plays but no sound comes out. This isn't with every video though, plenty of my videos work but plenty also don't.
Any ideas? Thank you.

The camera is a Kodak Easyshare DX 7440....most all are Quicktime Movie formats.
I believe this digital camera stores video files as MPEG4/µ-lAW 2:1 files in an MOV file container. Original iMovie '08 did not like the µ-Law audio and would not import it but I thought later application upgrades took care of than. As an experiment, filnd a file that will not open and run it through QT Pro or GarageBand exporting to the "Movie to MPEG-4" to an MP4 file container using video "pass through" and converting the audio to AAC ant streaming off. If the file then imports, then the audio compression may again be problematic.

  • Qosmio G30-176: TV tunner issue - blurred without any sounds

I from the seychelles and we use a Pal System similar to that in the UK, but I cannot tune the TV Tuner.
It always comes out blurred without any sounds.
    Can somebody please help?

    Hi
As far as I know the TV Tuner is specific to the country in which the notebook is purchased.
This is obvious in the case of PAL (European standard) versus NTSC (North American standard) but also relates to variances in the PAL standard that can be found across those countries that use this for their television broadcasts.
The Microsoft Windows Media Centre Edition operating system is only setup for use within the country in which the notebook was purchased.
This setup relates to functions such as obtaining the Electronic Programme Guide via the Internet.
Possibly the PAL system is simialr to the UK one but it's NOT the same.
This cold be a reason for the blurred TV channels without sound.

  • After updating to 12.1.2.27, songs play, but without any sound output to internal iMac speakers

So i updated to 12.1.2.27 and songs 'play', but without any sound output. Checked my audio settings and had it at Internal speakers. Checked the speakers (they work, at least for YouTube vids), restarted machine, etc and no audio output from iTunes. Any suggestions? Am I missing something?
    Thanks in advance

Try unchecking Sound Enhancer and Sound Check in your Preferences under Playback
Sound check may have reduced everything to a low output level inadvertently.

  • Why would an After Effects comp be imported without the sound into Premiere?

Hi, everyone. I hope someone can help me out with this. Basically I have a comp with lots of .mts video files and .mp3 audio ones. AE crashes when rendering, blaming the MTS files. I don't fancy converting all the MTS to MOV (huge difference in terms of size), then replacing them with the new MOVs.
I was therefore hoping to be able to import the AE comp into Premiere and render from there. Rendering the video is not a problem, but for some reason there is no sound... Anyone know why this may be?
    I am working with CS4.
    Thank you!

You may not fancy converting the mts files, but you have to because you run AE 9.  If you had AE 10, you wouldn't have to do that.
And you should never, EVER use mp3 files in AE if you want a good-sounding audio track.  Or in your case, any kind of audio.  In fact, you should never use ANY kind of compressed audio.  Stick with wav and aiff files.
So quit wringing your hands and start convertin' them files!

  • IChat Video works without any manual port configuration

I'm posting this as a question and a true "discussion" with regards to iChat "video chat" operation with 2 users, both behind their own NAT router. I have seen several cases where iChat (ver3 and ver4) work just fine without any manual intervention. Of course, there are many other cases in these discussions where it seems a lot of complication and little positive result are part of the equation. Isn't iChat designed to work behind NAT routers ? Doesn't it use the SNATMAP server to get external (ie; public) IP and port number mappings ? If both users can login to the AIM server and initiate a Chat request, and contact the SNATMAP server, the next key requirement is to simply establish a point-to-point SIP session to the public IP/port of each endpoint.
    It seems the first thing to check is that this is happening correctly. In other words, the iChat debug log for userA should show something similar to;
    2008-01-29 18:59:21.739 iChat[2603] IPAndPortList: (
    {ip = "x.y.z.w"; port = 63217; },
    {ip = "a.b.c.d"; port = 16402; }
...where a.b.c.d represents the internal/private IP of a user (userB on Leopard iChat4 for example with 16402 representing all of the SIP, A/V, and A/V control ports) behind a NAT and x.y.z.w represents the external/public IP of userB. At least I think Leopard uses 16402 for the SIP. This shows that userA has the mapping for the SIP signaling port to send the SIP:invite to userB (ie; 63217).
    There is also something like;
185912.819694 Sending SNATMAP heartbeat to 11FAF895:5678
185912.912199 SNATMAP heartbeat resulted in IP change (from: 0 to: mm.nn.kk.pp)
185912.912251 SNATMAP heartbeat resulted in port change (from: 0 to: 64999)
..where mm.nn.kk.pp represent the HEX values for the userA public IP address and the 64999 (in this example only) represents the SIP signaling port for userA
    185921.738995 =========== OpenPorts!
    185921.832238 Public mapping: m.n.k.p:64998
    185921.923213 Public mapping: m.n.k.p:64991
    185922.014215 Public mapping: m.n.k.p:65018
    185922.104986 Public mapping: m.n.k.p:65098
...where m.n.k.p represents the public IP of userA (Tiger iChat3 in this case), and the 64xxx and 65xxx umbers represent the ports opened for A/V and A/V control. In other words, these are the mappings for the "typical" 16384, 16385, 16386, 16387 ports.
As long as both users have connectivity to the SNATMAP server, these "mappings" should proceed without problems, right ??
If both endpoints/users get these mappings, which appear to happen auto-magically between iChat and the SNATMAP server at "snatmap.mac.com:5678", iChat should move to the next phase which is to simply establish the point-to-point SIP call. Up to this point, I don't see why any port-mapping or for that matter, anything else needs to be done ?
Of course, AFTER this point, one does need to make sure no local computer "application" firewall is blocking 5190, 5060, 5678, 16384-16403 (Tiger) or 5190, 16384(or 16393?)-16402 (Leopard) .
If all is well to this point, and iChat actually sends a valid SIP:invite to the remote public SIP IP/port, with a valid SDP section, it's up to whether the endpoints can agree on the session parameters (ie; video codec, bitrate, frame-rate, etc..etc...)
Of course, there are many other things that could happen outside of iChat, like bad (or even good) installed software causing some weird problems, or running some application like virtualization or Internet Sharing that may have some "interop" issue...and maybe even a Service provider simply blocking the ports that the NAT has used (unlikely since they are probably different for every user and determined by each users NAT router)...but if you look at the iChat errorLogLevel7 debug output (preferably on both ends at the time of the call), you should be able to determine if iChat is sending a valid Invite...which is the prmary key in all of this.
Lastly, I have read about "symmetric" NAT routers which might actually pose a real problem even when using the SNATMAP server. This is because a symmetric NAT router will only allow traffic from the destination port that a source port was opened to...which in iChat's case is usualy the SNATMAP server. So it may not be possible to "open ports" via te SNATMAP server, but then get incoming SIP/video traffic from userB. In this case, then UPnP or NAT-PMP, or port-forwarding/triggering may help.
    Just some thoughts for discussion.

    Your totally right,
and from al the discussions here it seems that not every body knows that, and might be looking for the wrong answers. I wonder why Apple doesnot tell us how it is meant to work, and how to troubleshoot connections problems!
Ichat uses the SIP protocol and should work without any firewall/NAT configurations, for an explanation see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SessionInitiationProtocol
I have seen it work out of the box for several installations (single iMac, OS X 10.5, behind one ADSL router). In one situation i had to switch of the SIP helper application in the router
My own home network has 2 macs however, and sometimes it works and sometimes not.
    1) I found out that for local videochats i have to use the bonjour accounts, is that correct ? It should work with .MAC accounts too?
    2) for external communications i found out it is best to to stick to one Mac. When I switch from one to the other, using the same account (after logging out first), it often doesnot work, although it should. Any idea how to troubleshoot this problem? (now I rember I have to check this SIP helper application first
    3) when i setup a video chat to my mam who uses autoaccept, i am not able to take over the screen. Without autoaccept it works fine. So it looks like autoaccept won't allow you to share the screen.

    Correct.
After that just select the new folder location in iTunes> Advanced settings.
    Incorrect.
    Hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select Choose library and select the iTunes folder.
This will read the iTunes library.itl file in this folder and the library as it was previously will be opened.

  • I just bought this show it would work but without any sound?

I've tried doing everything but i dont know why it would work with out any sound!!! what should i do?

in iTunes, access your purchase history via your account in the iTunes store,
find the file in question, and click on the report a problem button. report the problem. more info in this support article.
clicking here should take you directly to your iTunes store log-in window.

  • Itunes plays songs but without any sound

Hey folks, I am having a problem with sound. I am running a Windows 64-bit Vista on a HP desktop. I contacted Apple and they suggested uninstalling and reinstalling Itunes and it didn't work. All the songs and videos will play in my Itunes but there is no sound. I have downloaded the newest version of Itunes. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I'm just going to give you a quick how to... so here it goes.
    1. Back up all your songs into a folder on your computer.
    2. Install iTunes 7 www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and all relevant updates.
    3. Once that is done, use the backup/format install tool inside iTunes 7, comes up when you connect the iPod.
    4. Then add items to your library again, and transfer them to the iPod.
Basically reformatting the iPod shoudl work. Make sure the the songs definatly play in iTunes and dont skip. You could find that the iPod has disk errors.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Video imports without audio

First, I have tried all the fixes described in the support section that basically say to turn the audio up, or turn the speakers on.
My Problem is that when import from my mp4 camera, the video comes in but there is no audio track with it. If i do "extract audio" the resulting audio track is zero bytes.
I read somewhere that apple gets you here, and makes you buy quicktime pro, so you save it as a .mov file in quicktime, Then import that file into iMovie.
    Same exact problem.
It should not be difficult to get sound to work.
Is it possible to import quicktime movies with sound, or mp4 movies with sound?

No doubt your camera saves your video in MPEG-1 format and QuickTime Pro has never been able to extract audio from muxed file formats.
Use the free MPEG Streamclip app to convert the files to DV Stream and use the .dv file it makes in iMovie.

    Thanks for the reply.
Running as Administrator is important, so let us see if you are.
    If you go to
    Control Panel
    User Accounts and Family Safety
    User Accounts
    Manage Other Accounts
how many accounts do you see, one or more....are you using the one that reads
    Owner name
    Local Account
    Administrator
As for QuickTime....please go to Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime and see if you have Presets for that QuickTime choice.
You will need to scroll down to QuickTime toward the bottom of the Publish+Share/Computer list. Use the thin scroll bar
to the right of the choices for that. Look for Presets field. It should contain choice of presets for
    NTSC DV
    NTSC DV 16:9
    PAL DV
    PAL DV 16:9
    HD 1080i25, H.264, AAC 48 kHz
    HD 1080i29.97, H.264, AAC, 48 kHz
After you select one from the list, you should be the default description for the selected preset.
If all that happens, then you have QuickTime installed.
Are the missing pictures only from the export file? Do you see these images before export? If so,
you may be involved in a Windows 8 issue involving MPEG2 support and Windows Media Player.
What is your player? If only Windows Media Player, then consider using the VLC player to determine
if that will work for you video and audio wise.

  • Importing without any files

ok, a while ago i got an itunes acount from my dad, he was done with it and it had some credit left so i figured id use it up.
for reference these are two different computers mine and his.
on my computer i had downloaded several songs, about two albums worth, but was having computer problems so i had to reinstall the os a few times, its all fixed now but in reformatting to put on the new os all my files were erased there fore i dont have the itune folder anymore.
i didnt burn the songs to disk, i dont have an ipod, and ive never taken music off my computer.
i would like someone to come up with a way for me to get the songs re-dowloaded without having to pay again, the downloaded songs list in acount info shows them all.
this is one of the reasons i barely ever use mac and after this probably will never use itunes again.

You could send an email here -> http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser/
and explain the situation and see if they will allow you to download the songs again.
well thanks a lot apple, **** over the litte guy that just wants to listen to his music.
YOU erased your files, not Apple.
If you have important files you do not want to lose, you should back them up regularly.

  • IMac G5 Video Import Problem, Choppy Sound

I posted this question in the iMovie area, but nobody answered.
Recently when I go to import video from my Canon ZR25 to iMovie 5.0.2, the video is fine but the audio is chopped up as if by fan blades. It's very annoying. This camera and computer worked fine together before. Does anybody know what is causing this and how to fix it? Thanks.

Have you tried it with another cable? And do other firewire peripherals work properly when connected?

i put converted vidoes on my ipod and it shows it put it does not get any sound

Quicktime, Quicktime Pro and iTunes don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
See:iPod plays video but not audio.
You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).
