Instead of seeing thing laid out like a normal web page, there is just a list of links.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

  • IPod classic can't be detected in iTunes, will not format, will not disk-check (MSW7)

    I've been trying to sync my iTunes to my iPod Classic for over a year now to no avail. I finally got fed up with waiting and decided to come look for help on this support page.
    After taking the "professional" advice here on how to completely reformat my iPod so as to reset its internal filesystem, I also seem to have severed all capability for my device to interact with any aspect of my computer.
    Now when iTunes is open, it no longer even offers me the option to sync because my iPod does not display. When I do plug my iPod in it shows up in my explorer shell and I am given the open to "Scan and Fix" which I select, only to have Windows tell me that it cannot detect my iPod's disk. The same thing happens when I right click and attempt to manually format the drive.
    What do?

    This could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He always covers what the resulting numbers indicate, which may be slightly different if your model is a bit older.

  • I lost all of my Itunes music because of an infection that required them to wipe my computer.  I am trying to get the music back from multiple sources.  What I have recovered is a mess. Albums are mixed or songs not grouped as album. Help?

    My computer got infected with some terrible virus.  I contacted the manufacturer and they said the only thing to do was wipe the whole thing. I could not back it up bec this mess?ause it would include the infection. I have been trying to recover the lost music from several different places.  A friend tried to help me by putting all of his music on my computer from his external hard drive. That was very nice of him but now it is a terrible mess. The recovered songs are not grouped into albums correctly.  Some albums are mixed - every other song is from the other album.  Some songs are listed separately and not grouped as an album.  I tried to ask iTunes to find album art work and it has been running that for over 48 hours. Is that possible?  When I try to stop it I get a message that says I will lose all the data.  I admit that I am not very tech. savvy and I really don't know what I am doing.  It took me more than 20 years to make that collection and I am heart broken. Do you have any ideas about how I start to fix

    Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value).  You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
    In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
    Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
    Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads
    Content imported from your CDs will have to imported again
    The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these).  Without details of the issues you're seeing it is difficult to suggest a remedy other than going through the media album-by-album, track-by-track, and correcting the inconsistencies.
    In the absence of a backup or access to the original library data there is no option other than painstakingly recreating your library as described above.  As you do so, you'll now realize how important creating and maintaining backups are - in my case I have at all times three separate duplicates of my library, in two different locations, where none is ever more than a week old compared to the content of my master library.

I have to click the link several time before it will load and sometimes when they do load it does not show the page right. It is like the HTML is messed up or something. I have tried everything I can think of. I started in safe mode, still did it., I removed add-ons, still did it., I reset Firefox and still did it., I completely uninstalled Firefox and re-installed Firefox and it still does it. I have tried Malware Bytes Anti-Malware scans and Avast boot-time scans and found no malware or viruses. I have found that those websites open the first time with no problems on my IE9 and they used to do so in Firefox 26.0. I'm at my wit's end. The website links are in my bookmarks and are used all the time so they are trusted and my avast is set to allow them. They range from news websites to gun websites and everything I have read says that Mozilla does not filter those unless something has changed recently.

    Try resetting your network settings.
    Settings>Genenal>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

    Thanks. I can change the forwarding settings in Gmail to be either POP or IMAP. That is quite simple. I just looked at those settings on the Gmail server and, to my surprise, both are enabled. In order for outlook client on my computer to receive IMAP emails I have to change the email account settings in my current outlook from POP to IMAP. I don't need to be using the Exchange version of Outlook to receive IMAP. I guess I'll do a little research tomorrow on Exchange so i can figure out what, if anything, it might do for me.
    I glanced at the link you sent me and it looks like it might be very helpful - another project for tomorrow.
    BTW: I hit "This Solved my Question" by accident. I meant only to "like' your response so you would get some benefit from the help you've given me so far. I hope I haven't discouraged others from taking a shot at helping me. I suspect there is more than one way to approach this and, as you know, my problem isn't really solved until I have what I need all set up and running smoothly.

    Almost all webpages I am visiting are not loading properly. The font appears very large, the images do not download, and there is no flash/animation.
    I have tried closing and reopening Firefox, and I already have the updated version installed. I did not see any available options in "View" to change the look of the pages. The pages this problem are most noticeable on are: www.msn.com, www.wellsfargo.com, and www.kob.com.

    Try opening the problem library on the HD, if you still have it, by launching iPhoto with the Option key depressed and, when asked, navigate to the external HD and select it. If it opens then you might be able to get it recognized by iPB. If you don't have the one on the external try the one in the Documents folder.
    Does iPhoto Buddy create its own plist file in each of the library folders? If so then maybe it the problem. Remove it from the problem library and try relinking it.
    I used to use iPB but changed to iPLM (although I like iPB's interface better) as it was compatible with V6 before iPB was.

    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Some pictures are not loading correctly. If I 'right click' and go to 'view image' it opens it on a new page and then when I go back one page it appears. Can you advise what the problem is?

    On several sites pictures do not load properly and there is just a black where the photo should appear.

    Had a problem to start with and then re-loaded Firefox version 9 and restarted the computer. So far all seems to be now working correctly.

  • Webpages are not as wide as my 17" monitor. There is space on both sides. Explorer does not do this. Zooming in does not help. Is there a fix?

    I installed firefox as I heard it is better than exployer. The problem is that the webpages are not as wide as my screen. They reach from top to bottom, but not to each side. I look at the same pages on exployer and they are "full screen". The zoom only makes the fonts larger. It does not make it fit the screen. I hope there is a fix.
    This is windows 7.

    Thanks for all the help. I downloaded the extension from the second post. It seems to have fixed my problem. Some pages still load in the "narrow" format, but I can zoom them out and they fill the whole page. Firefox seems to remember the zoomed version the next time that I load the page. Happy for now.

  • GoogleVoice webpage not loading properly

    I have been using GoogleVoice for some time, without any problems. Since your latest update, the webpage does not load properly. Only the GoogleVoice name appears, at top left corner, on an otherwise blank page. I can open GoogleVoice using Internet-Explorer on the same PC, without any trouble. There is no issue with signing-in to that account. I use W-7 Premium, 64 bit.

    Google Voice is affected by styling changes that also may affect GMail, and Google search. When you get your voice back the Format now shows "Call" and "Text" buttons with white text on red/orange background.
    Try updating your "'''Add Block Plus'''" filter subscriptions to see it that solves the problem -- it probably will.
    You can update your subscription filters by right-clicking the ADP button > '''preferences''' > Filters > "Update all subscriptions"&nbsp; The keyboard shortcut for preferences is "Ctrl+Shift+F".
    You can test quickly to find out if this is or is not the problem area by disabling ADP at the toolbar icon by right-clicking the ADP button > "Disable everywhere" and restore later by unchecking that option.
    Less restrictive would be to "Disable on this page only", but either way you want to update your filter subscriptions, then if it doesn't work find out which filter is the problem and which filter subscription it is in, which can be found from the "Open '''blockable items'''" and hovering over filter line. The columns you should be showing are: Address, Filter, Type, State. Sort on State so red items are at top of list.&nbsp; The keyboard shortcut for blockable items is "Ctrl+Shift+V" (unfortunately far from unique among other applications).
    You can turn off a specific filter by toggling a blocking filter by double-clicking the filter in the blockable items, or by unchecking the filter in preferences. From preferences you can also also block/unblock specific filters, but you can also block/unblock an entire subscription or all of your own filters as a group. Unblocking a filter subscription restores your choices of blocked/unblocked items within.
