my webpages wont refresh unless i move the cursor.
some post on here told me to disable acceleration, which i did.
this worked for a while but now the problem is back.
    how do i fix this?

I think you are in "full screen" mode. Use the F11 key to switch between full screen and normal modes. Does that solve the mystery?

  • Since upgrading to Firefox 27.0 some webpages will not load when I click on them. It gives me a message saying that Firefox can't find the server.

Since upgrading to Firefox 27.0 some webpages will not load when I click on them. It gives me a message saying that Firefox can't find the server. I have to click the link several time before it will load and sometimes when they do load it does not show the page right. It is like the HTML is messed up or something. I have tried everything I can think of. I started in safe mode, still did it., I removed add-ons, still did it., I reset Firefox and still did it., I completely uninstalled Firefox and re-installed Firefox and it still does it. I have tried Malware Bytes Anti-Malware scans and Avast boot-time scans and found no malware or viruses. I have found that those websites open the first time with no problems on my IE9 and they used to do so in Firefox 26.0. I'm at my wit's end. The website links are in my bookmarks and are used all the time so they are trusted and my avast is set to allow them. They range from news websites to gun websites and everything I have read says that Mozilla does not filter those unless something has changed recently.

Try this as a first step;<BR><BR>
Clear the Cache '''''Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"'''''<BR><BR>
    and<BR><BR>
    Remove Cookies '''''Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"'''''<BR><BR>
If there is still a problem,

An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.

If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using Dr.Web Light from the App Store. It's free, and since it's from the App Store, it won't destabilize the system. If you prefer one of the better known commercial products, then Thomas recommends using Sophos.(Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.) If you already use Sophos, then be aware of this if you are using Mavericks: OS X Mavericks- Sophos Anti-Virus on-access scanner versions 8.0 - 9.1 may cause unexpected restarts
From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect anything targeting the Mac because there
is no Mac malware in the wild, and therefore, no "signatures" to detect.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.

  • Safari not open some webpages

Hi there, I am a newbie on Mac and however on Safari. Sorry for my english too.
I have problems to open some webpages with Safari, so I must use Firefox for some websites.
Is that normal? I prefer Safari and I would like to use only it, but that's not possible, so I must use only Firefox as my preferred browser!
I am not happy for this solution!

    HI,
No, that's not normal. If you can open the same site on Firefox, then Safari should be able to also.
    Try trouble shooting...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons and click Reset. Then relaunch Safari and try a webpage you couldn't open before. If it still won't load the page...
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash. If you still have problems...
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and *restart your Mac.*

  • Some websites wont cache

I have browser.cache.check_doc_frequency set to 2 but some webpages simply will not cache. Is there a way to force this? Memory use is not an issue

    Thanks for that useful information.
I installed a version of that script (just removed the if url check so it applies to every site). It works for some sites, not others (like this one).
There definitely needs to be a setting added to firefox to override the pageshow/pagehide event hijacking user control over caching. I shudder to think how many billions of unnecessary packets are sent every day and how much time and bandwidth is wasted reloading information that is exactly the same and already sitting on your computer [Idiocracy].

  • Page Viewer Webpart not displaying some webpages

    Hello
I have a SharePoint Server 2013 on-prem Publishing Site and the page viewer webpart is unable to display some webpages like Google homepage, etc. but is able to show webpages from a few other sites like internal SharePoint sites, skysports.com, etc.
I am not able to see a pattern here. I first thought this might be caused due to some sites allowing authenticated access but now its not very consistent. Also, I tried the same with an Office 365 site and the results were exactly the same.
Please help me to find out the reason for this issue.
    Thanks
    Parth

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that Page Viewer Webpart don’t display some webpages.
There are many reasons for the block of the pages in the Page Viewer Web Part.

  • Why am i getting fractions instead of text on some webpages?

i'm getting fractions/mathematical sentences instead of text of some webpages. after reading another post with a similar problem. i did what they said would solve the problem, getting rid of the fonts Helvetica Fractions and Times Phonetic. that didn't work.
i got rid of those fonts. searched thru my hard drive to make sure there weren't other copies of those fonts on my system, but the fractions still show up on some webpages.
i restarted after trashing the fonts and did a disk permissions repair. anything else i need to do?

tom, i'll email you with a screen shot.
It's helvetica fractions or something similar.
    when i went
to the fontfinagler download site, the example of
garbled text was different from what i am
    experiencing.
That's irrelevant. The point is that your machine may still think you have helvetica fractions because it is still in the caches. Clean them.
by the way, firefox works fine.
This font substitution problem normally only affects Apple Cocoa apps like Safari, Mail, Address Book, etc.

  • No access with safari to some webpages

    Hello
I use an iPad with iOS 8.1 for two weeks.
Since some days there is very bad access to some webpages with Safari.
I have checked in on webpages.
Later when I go to the same webpages I must store my access again.
    It's very bad.
At the begin of using the iPad there was no problem.
    What can be the reason?
Or what must I check on iPad?
    Jochen

    Thanks for feedback.
    I don't have upgrade to iOS8.1
I bought a fresh new iPad 2 weeks ago.
    First it was OK.
    Now it's not OK.
I have reboot iPad yesterday because there was a problem with quick scrolling.
After reboot this problem was gone.
After reboot the bad access in Safari was the the same as before.

I've tried to change the default font but I keep getting some 'funky' font show up on some webpages and some emails. Why and how to correct it? Anyone have a clue what I'm talking about? Hope someone can help! TIA!
    Michele

i found and disabled the funky font in my font book and now everything is normal again - thx goodness! but I never did figure out why or how or where the system was picking up this funky font to use for email and webpages. i'd like to keep the font if it won't interfere with the rest of my system. anyone else ever have this issue?
