Some whites appear yellow

Hi all,
I have a macbook pro retina and in the past two months certain whites have started to appear very yellow. It happens randomly. At first I thought it had to do with the "Flux" programme (that turns your screen orange as night falls), and then wondered if it was some kind of wierd interference with Photoshop. But now I disinstalled Flux and the problem persists. It happens sometimes that I turn my computer and the screen is normal but it generally comes back.
It's really strange because it's yellow outlines around the menu bar for example, and the yellow follows it around the screen if I start moving it.
I have googled this problem and haven't seen anyone who has had the same problem.. Would be sooo glad if one of you knew what this is all about...

  • Colors in Photoshop all wrong but OK in other apps. (For example "Whites appear yellow.")

Q: The colors in Photoshop are all wrong. They have a neon look or are discolored with a blue, red, green or Yellow cast. I look at the same pictures in other applications and they look just fine. How do I fix this?
A: Recalibrate your monitor using Adobe Gamma (OS9) or the Displays Control in System Preferences (OSX). Photoshop uses your monitor profile to display your images other apps don't. Be sure you start the recalibration using a fresh monitor profile (sRGB or the profile that came with your monitor for example). If you try to recalibrate using the old corrupt profile you will still have a corrupt monitor profile and your color will still be bad. Also, if you are using OS 9 make sure you are using ColorSync 3.0.4. The 3.0.4 patch is available on the Apple web site.
See also support document 319456, "Colors Are Incorrect (For example White Appears Yellow)" at http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/319456.html. The document is for Windows, but it may be useful for Macintosh.
Here is another link to monitor calibration http://www.gballard.net/psd/colorlooksbad.html

Thanks. But it looks like in all my frustration, I wasn't  sure  my original call for help had posted, so must have  submitted the same question again.
But I just had a new thought on the problem. While reviewing a story I received from another website,  I noticed that the photos attached to the article  looked  a lot like  what I described  in my  message. It made me wonder if I have a software problem at all . . . or if it's the screen on my Mac that needs recalibration!
It only took 2 minutes to find a website that discussed it — with sample screens to help determine if that was what I'm dealing with. Since a screen supposedly showing a mix of numbered, grey boxes looked totally white to me and I could only see the white numbers on a screen that supposedly contained boxes in varying shades of black, I think I might be on the right track. Just not sure, since I had to reach the bottom of the page before spotting the pitch for a product that supposedly will recalibrate  for me. I'm not sure I want to tackle recalibration on my own, but may call the Mac Geniuses at our local mall  and see  if my hunch is right . . .and if so, what they would charge to do it for me.
BTW, if it sounds like a calibration problem, do you think moving my computer  from one desk top another (just 5 feet away) could have caused it? I'm not sure, since it wasn't on my mind at the time, but I think that's roughly when I first started to notice discrepancies in color.

  • In photoshop white appears yellow

In photoshop CC, white appears yellow and I'm unable find a solution for this.
    I'm using Windows7 Profesional.

Use the eyedropper tool and sample a "white" area.  If it reads 255,255,255 it is white and your monitor profile is off.

  • I bought a macbook pro retina ME665 in Dubai, and 3 month later its display stopped working properly.some white lines appeared on it and display itself became white and black. Can anybody suggest what should I do to fix this problem?

In October 2013 I was on Vacationin Dubai and bought there Macbook pro retina ME665. I returned to Kyrgystan (home town) and for New Year I was away for a week. When I came back i found that the dispaly of my laptop became white and black, some lines appeared on it. Everybody in my family told me that no one has dropped my laptop or done anything that can cause this problem. there is no any service provider of apple in my country. WIl, the international warranty cover this case? I bought this laptop not from apple store, but in a simple store and I lost reciept.

Put the Serial Number in here...

Sorry for my bad english. My ipod have a white screen and after few secondes somes lines appear.

    - Try a reet:
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next connect to computer and if it shows in iTunes restore the iPod.
    - If the screen is still white, let the battery fully drain and charge for an hour.
    - If still white screen it is time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
    - If not, the try the reset and connect to iTunes and restore.  Also try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode:

  • Mac screen has white and yellow bars on start up but no icons?

I have a 27" Mac Desk Top computer recently upgraded to Yosimite.
On starting up the screen appears white with yellow columns but no icons or dock appears?
    Can I fix this myself?

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.
    Safe Mode - Mavericks
You can also try resetting the PRAM.

  • [SOLVED] Console colors make text illegible (i.e. white on yellow)

As shown in this image, colored text on my console often appears as white on yellow or vice-versa.  When this happens, I can't read the text.
I believe these colors are the archlinux defaults, or specified by the programs I'm running.  I don't think its a product of my customizations but I could be wrong.  The text appears this way in bash or zsh.
I've been searching, but I can't find the right way to control the colors.  I'm not searching for a color scheme, although if that's the only solution, I'm open to suggestions. What I really want is a way to say, "never use colors as similar as yellow and white together."
    Thanks for any help.

There's no way to do specifically that - unless you set your TERM to something that cannot use color at all.
But you can easily define what the 14 default colors are.  Most programs don't actually specify a color, they just select from the 14 defaults (often just 7 really):
    # from bashrc
    # #RRGGBB
    echo -en "\e]P0181818" #black
    echo -en "\e]P8000000" #darkgrey
    echo -en "\e]P1a62a3e" #darkred
    echo -en "\e]P9f04758" #red
    echo -en "\e]P238912b" #darkgreen
    echo -en "\e]PA60aa2b" #green
    echo -en "\e]P3b27d12" #brown
    echo -en "\e]PBddb62b" #yellow
    echo -en "\e]P4355c9a" #darkblue
    echo -en "\e]PC45a3e6" #blue
    echo -en "\e]P57c4f9f" #darkmagenta
    echo -en "\e]PDc953ef" #magenta
    echo -en "\e]P6258f8f" #darkcyan
    echo -en "\e]PE60c6c8" #cyan
    echo -en "\e]P7aab8b8" #lightgrey
    echo -en "\e]PFd0d0d0" #white
    clear
Also, setting a good font can help readability.
EDIT: sorry, the above code is for TTY.  For terminals in X, you'd just set values in your Xresources/Xdefaults:
    *color0: #000000
    *color8: #666666
    *color1: #A62A3E
    *color9: #F04758
    *color2: #38912B
    *color10: #60AA2B
    *color3: #B27D12
    *color11: #DDB62B
    *color4: #355C9A
    *color12: #45A3E6
    *color5: #7C4F9F
    *color13: #C953EF
    *color6: #258F8F
    *color14: #60C6C8
    *color7: #77858C
    *color15: #C0C0C0

  • Background color changed from white to yellow and =25% changed to %% on email

I type =25% on my email and sent out, background color changed from white to yellow and =25% changed to %%.

Try leaving a space after the =
    Thus: = 25%
Where and when did it change? Did it change inside Thunderbird? Did it change in the Sent folder? Or in a reply to you?
= and % are used in certain types of email encoding; =20% often appears, meaning character 0x20 which is 32 denary or the space character. It is often used where an explicit space would be illegal, and this is common in URLs and other links. I'm thinking that =25% similarly has a special meaning. It ''shouldn't'' get decoded, but software is buggy.
I can't reproduce it here, which is why I'm asking about how and when it changes. Where does the Microsoft software come into it?

  • Hi,  im trying to hook up my mac book 7,1 to an older tv with red white n yellow cables.  is this possible.  if so what would i need to buy?

HI again.  im trying to hook my mac book up to my tv.  its an older tv that has hook up for yellow red n white cables.  if this is possible please tell me what i need to do so.  thank you

If you want to use the Composite input on your TV there’s no Mini DisplayPort to Composite. The only adapters with Composite are the older Mini-DVI adapters. (Composite is the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs.).
You’ll could try a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_19?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field -keywords=mini+displayport+to+vga&sprefix=mini+Displayport+to
And then a VGA Adapter to TV S-Video RCA Out Cable for PC Video. http://www.amazon.com/VGA-Adapter-S-Video-Cable-Video/dp/B000Y7T5UU/ref=sr_1_7?s =electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1316369974&sr=1-7
I don't know if that would work but it's the only way I would know.

  • After Preflighting a PDF, using Convert to CMYK, Flatten Transparency and Prepress Profile Convert to CMYK only the resultant PDF has a grubby halo along the edge of some white type sitting on an image. The type is part of the image.

    I am using a 27" iMac 3.2 GHz Intel Core 5, 8 GB Memory, running Yosemite 10.10.1.
The version of Acrobat that I am using is: Acrobat XI Version 11.0.10
After Preflighting a PDF, using Convert to CMYK, Flatten Transparency (high resolution) and Prepress Profile "Convert to CMYK only" the resultant PDF has a grubby halo along the edge of some white type sitting on an image. The type is part of the image which is 300 dpi.
It is like the image isn't really 300 dpi but has been artificially boosted to that to avoid being tagged by Preflighting, but when Preflighting the file it knows the original resolution.
I have screen grabs which illustrate the problem perfectly but do not know how to post them, if indeed they can be.
Any help or comments gratefully received.

Without the files and possibly screen prints, it is virtually impossible to assist you.

  • Why are some jpg images scrambled when they appear in my screen saver?   The same images look fine in Preview and Finder.  Some images appear scrambled in the screen saver 'preview' window and the actual screen saver. Other jpg images look fine.

Why are some jpg images scrambled when they appear in my screen saver?   The same images look fine in Preview and Finder.  Some images appear scrambled in the screen saver 'preview' window and the actual screen saver. Other jpg images look fine.

The desktop image is fine, taken from the exact same pool of jpg photos.  However, as soon as the slide show screen saver comes on, the images are scrambled.  What is it about the apple screen saver algorithm that scrambles the pics?

In placing a high resolution jpg into InDesign some whites tended to gray out. Why?

Have you checked the whites in Photoshop and made sure they are all 255|255|255? Depending on the compression used, JPEGs can have artifacts in an otherwise white field like in the edges of this low quality jpeg:

  • LMS 3.2 some devices appear by IP not hostname

    dears
i've problem in LMS 3.2 that some devices appear in RME by ip not hostname although they are in HOSTS file !
i tried to use resolver.pl tool and it can fetch the host name when typing the ip but devices still appearing by ip  !
    i'm using Comon Services 3.3

The device which are already in LMS DCR would stay as it is, if they are added by IP already.
If you are sure all the devices are in hosts file, than you should modify your scheduled discovery job for Update DCR Display Name check box.
Select this checkbox if you want to update the display name of the devices that already exist in DCR, in the next Device Discovery cycle.
For example, consider a device which is discovered by Common Services Device Discovery, exists in DCR with the display name as its hostname.
If you change the Preferred DCR Display Name as IP Address for the next Device Discovery, Common Services Device Discovery will update the display name of the device as its IP Address in DCR after the next Device Discovery.
The display name of devices are not overwritten in the future Device Discovery cycles if you have not selected this option.

Why do only some photos appear in iCloud folder on my PC and not all taken on iPhone appear on iPad either? All settings seem correct and new photos now seem to be appearing on all devices, but not all older or recent photos, even if taken at same time. All advice greatly appreciated.

First, to access documents you must use an app designed for that specific Document type. So Pages will not be able to open PDFs. The Documents app by Readdle can handle PDFs though. In the latter case, you'd open the app, click the menu icon at its top left, and click Open to go to your iCloud Drive. With Pages, if you had files outside the main Pages folder, click + then iCloud and navigate to the file's location.
