Some windows grayed out

I have two closed windows, canvas and timeline, and cannot figure out how to open them.
In windows menu they both are grayed out. This has happened some times before, but then got fixed when I opened the project again.
Now the saved version is the one with windows closed, so do I have to go to restored version or is there a better advices?

There was not any sequence open. I went to browser and opened a sequence and voila, there those missing windows were.

I had this problem too - of grayed out music I could only play when in WIFI. I noticed when looking in iTunes, these grayed song were not chosen by me to sync on to my iPhone. They were stored in iCloud. I went to Settings > Music and then turned off "Show All Music" so only music that has been dowloaded to my iPhone will be shown.
I don't have iTunes Match, so you may have a different issue than what I had.

Edit Window Grayed Out

When selecting a photo from thumbnails the program highlights the thumbnail, but then when I select the Edit button the photo shows up for a second, then the edit portion of the screen grays out replacing the photo with a framed question mark.
The last change made to my system was to reorginize photos, creating folders, etc, using my Mac HD window. The changed structure shows the photos there, but in iPhoto some of these folders appear empty.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
You have broken the golden rule of iPhoto: Never tamper with items in the iPhoto Library folder from inside the Finder. Any changes you make to the folders and files in the iPhoto Library folder break the links between your files and the iPhoto database.
Can you undo the changes you made? If so, your library might be salvageable.
Do you have a back-up library? If so, now is the time to use it.
If not, you have to create and populate a new library. You will lose your albums, keywords, books, etc. You will have your pictures and the same film rolls as before.
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop.
Launch iPhoto. Click "Create Library."
Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.

Login Window Grayed out Rich client 4.1

Hi,
When i launch the rich client from all programs very first time login window comes up.
System Name By default it is taking Servername:6400(J2EEPortal)
I tried to change the server name just server name:6400 but it is now allowing it is grayed out.
I think some seeting needs to be done or clear some files etc. But not sure, Can you please anyone tell me how to fix this issue?

Have you tried catching the SQL Exception and dumping the stack trace to System.out? You can then also use getNextException() on the SQL exception and dump that to System.out to get the chained Exception. These should then show up in the Tomcat window.
I would also try connecting to the sybase system using the ip address, port and login details that you were supplied by the sysadmin using Sybase client utils to check they are correct.

Some Menus Grayed-Out Briefly On Photoshop CS5 Startup

For a second or two right after starting the app most of the menus are disabled (grayed-out), as shown below, and even though Chris Cox says they should, they NEVER become activated as long as the menu is kept open. I've left it literally for minutes like this just to see. The duration for this period is just long enough that I can hit the File menu. The workaround is to click File again (or click somewhere else) to hide the File menu, then click File again.
I reported this once before and was informed that it must be one of my plugins causing the problem. In fact disabling some plugins caused it to either seem to disappear or to be a problem for a much shorter time after startup. At first I thought disabling my Genuine Fractals plug-in cleared it up, but I have seen it happen on my 64 bit Windows 7 system since.
I've just installed Photoshop CS5 on 32 bit Windows 7, and have done NOTHING more than just start the application - no plug-ins or even preferences changes.
Clearly, because this is a completely fresh install with no other changes this cannot be a plug-in or Photoshop configuration problem. Perhaps it could be tied to a WINDOWS configuration preference choice I have made, though, since my 32 bit Windows 7 system has many of the same UI tweaks I've made for my 64 bit system.
Photoshop 12.0.0 did this and 12.0.1 does it also. It's the only app I use that does it.
Certainly this is no more than a minor irritation, but minor irritations have a way of getting to a person, and it would be nice if when I went to do File - Open it was ready for me.
Any ideas?

My 64 bit system is a pretty highly tuned and well-performing workstation, so my first guess would be that local resources cannot be holding up the process of initialization much.
I'm seeing it on both 64 bit and 32 bit Windows 7 systems, both with and without OpenGL enabled.
An online check seemed plausible, so I fired up the debugging tool "Fiddler 2", and noted that no web communications are occurring at the time of Photoshop startup.
Could it be other software on these systems? Not plug-ins - I've ruled them out - but antivirus for example (I use Avast Pro)? I don't know. Possible I suppose.
I can certainly live with waiting a bit longer to use Photoshop. My main reason for bringing it up again is that Photoshop seems to be doing something different from what Chris Cox says it should be doing (enabling the menu items even with the menu held open), and I wanted him to know that. Maybe there's something Chris can tweak in the application to get that working better for the next release.

IPhone 5S some music grayed out

I just got an iPhone 5S. Backed up my old phone to computer, and used this backup to get info, data and music onto new phone. After syncing the phone with iTunes on my computer, some songs on some albums are grayed out and have a red circle with a square next to them, and obviously they do not play on my phone. However just using iTunes on my computer they all play just fine. Any ideas how I fix this? Many thanks!

Thanks for your interest in helping me. I updated my iPhone software to 1.1.2 because it told me to. I have iTunes 7.5. My OS is XP. The only thing I can do to my iPhone is to sync (manually or automatically) to get music on/off my iPhone. I can't just delete songs... they have to come on/off from my playlists. It's maddening!! All I've seen so far is that people that turn the auto sync feature off get their songs un-grayed, but that didn't work for me. That's about it Thanks!

also just checked and the session restore file in program files is missing how do i get a new one

Why is the TouchUp Properties window grayed out?

I'm in the Tools > Content > edit object area. I select a graphic that needs to be tagged with alternative text, right click on the selected graphic, choose Properties and all of the windows are grayed out. On the first page of the document I could tag all of the graphics. Anything below that won't work. Any ideas?? Thanks!

Hi,
I'm trying to batch convert a folder of .ai files to .png
When i go to window/action/pulldown menu the "batch..." option is grayed out. Anyone know why this might be?

Yes! Thank you! I see "stop recording".....and after I select that, I can now select batch (not grayed out anymore). I must have inadvertantly started recording an action when I was looking around for the "batch" option.

Dreamweaver IDE (Application Window Grayed out)

I opened up Dreamweaver CS3 today and the application tab
(Databases, Bindings,Server Behaviors and Components) is all grayed
out for all applications. I use it mostly with the Components tab.
Used it just fine a couple of days ago.
How can I get this window to where I can use it again? I
haven't had any other troubles.

SELECT DESKTOP ORGANIZER WINDOW GRAYED OUT.

My very 1st post. I have a BB BOLD, and am starting to Like it. I am migrating from a Palm Tungsten E2 PDA and I like palms desktop organizer desktop software. I tried to use the switch wizard, but both selections PALM and MS were grayed out. The Palm Desk top is version 6.2.2. by Access.Any clues why?? And am I supposed to have intellisync on my BB desktop software??? or is that legacy now. V 4.6.013. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi dynaman and welcome to the forums!
I had a similar problem in that I was unable to use the device switch wizard when moving from my Treo 650 to my Curve. My original versio of Outlook was too old to work with DM. You can change the conduits in your Palm Deskto to sync directly with Outlook. I needed the original Palm CD to do this. Make sure you get your mapping correct in this step. Once that is completed you can then sync Outlook with your BB.

Color register mark at top of Color Settings window grayed out?

The color register mark at the top of the Color Settings dialog window sometimes is a gray circle with an exclamation point, instead of the colored register mark showing the pie outbreak when color settings are not in sync. What would make it gray and prompt you to look at color settings?

Hi John. Thanks for the post. Actually though, when the color settings are out of sync the top right segment of the register mark "pie" juts out and the "unsyncronized" info comes up. What I'm referring to is that, at random times, there is no color register mark at the top left of the color settings dialog window and in its place is just a gray circle (almost like a talk balloon in the comics) and there is a black exclamation point in it. Usually, on by system everythng displays correctly with the color register mark that is intact when color settings are in sync and disjointed if they are out of sync, but I don't know what causes this other thing.

Some bookmarks "gray out" and will neither work nor can they be deleted. FF 4.0, Win XP SP3. Have tried safe mode, restart, reboot, and manual deletion in the bookmarks organizer. None of these work.

Only certain sites, such as CNN, will show the site name but not the URL in the Bookmarks Organizer. Sometimes they will appear on a restart. I noticed this in FF 3.16 and thought that FF4.0 might cure it but it hasn't. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration, all plugins, and the advice on the Firefox help site under "bookmarks don't work." I'm typing this from a different computer with essentially the same settings, OS, etc. and this does not show a problem on this machine. I've been through Task Manager, Processes and FF does not appear after shutdown.

Installation problems can have so many causes...but my first question is did you cancel installation of Windows drivers after it found the soundcard as new hardware? Second, and by way of example, recently the IT guy at work setup a new WinXP PC for me including an A2ZS card. But he installed the default Windows drivers for the soundcard. In Device Manager, I uninstalled these drivers and rebooted. Windows found new hardware. I cancelled the offer of Windows drivers and proceeded to install drivers, Creative software apps, and Mediasource from the original installation CD. Everything works fine now. Possibly you've done something similar to this procedure already, but If you decide to try it again, uninstall any software apps first.

PowerPivot button grayed out for existing .xlsx files

I have been working with PowerPivot in Excel 2010 for some time now with no issue till this morning when any existing report (.xlsx) file does not allow me to go to the PowerPivot window (grayed out mostly. sometimes it shows up and when I click it the PowerPivot
window opens up and gets stuck with a message ' Preparing the Power pivot window .. please wait'). The field list is grayed out too and I am not able to add any new pivot table or chart. Existing slicers are all working. Also new .xlsx files are working (able
to open PowerPivot).
I reinstalled Office and the PowerPivot add on, tried to disable/enable add on in Excel -> Options and made sure it is not in the 'Disabled' list.
I just tried on a different computer and faced the same problem there too.
Appreciate any help or ideas you can provide.
I am using PowerPivot Version 11.0.3000.0 and Excel version 2010 14.0.6023.1000 (32 bit).
