  • Could Apple replace the hairline-cracked glass on my macbook pro?

The glass on my macbook pro cracked about a year ago. Only a hairline fracture. The LCD screen is not damaged at all. Could apple replace the glass? How much would it cost?

    lindsay242,
yes, they could replace the glass. To find out how much it would cost, call them and ask.

  • What to do if apple replaced the wrong part?

my macbook pro has intermittently been experiencing issues that usually point to a defective graphics card (will start up it up and the display will be distorted and almost looks like pinstripe black and white where you can barely read what is on the screen and then sometimes the screen will go black entirely.  it will come back on and then again a few days later while using, the display will distort again).  i have spoken to several apple employees and the genius at the store even concluded this is most likely an issue with the graphics card and will require replacement of the logic board, so i paid out of pocket the $310 plus tax since it is out of warranty/applecare and they shipped it out to the repair facility.  i just received it today and the product repair summary states that the facility replaced the "display clamshell glossy 15 in" which obviously is not the logic board.
i will give the benefit of the doubt that the technician may have determined that this is the appropriate part to replace, but what happens if the issue still occurs? will apple replace the logic board at no cost to me? i don't believe i should have to pay for this again being that the logic board was diagnosed in the store as the problem.
i have the genius assessment and work authorization that specifies replacement of the logic board, specifically he wrote:
Proposed Resolution: --send to the apple repair center
--replace the main logic board and any other necessary component

easily, i am asking for advice from anyone else who has possibly had a similar experience to see how it was resolved.
i am sure you, like myself have a job and a lot of things going on in life where it is very difficult to get to an apple store in time to argue with the manager over apple's possible mistake and would prefer asking others so i do not have to rearrange my schedule several weeks in advance in order to get there.
please do us both a favor, rather than waste moments of both of our lives that we will never get back by responding with sarcasm, just do not reply at all and let me see if someone else has had this experience.

  • Will apple replace the L shape MagSafe Adapter the pins are sticking causing late 2011 macbook not to receive charge.

Will apple replace the L shape MagSafe Adapter? The pins are sticking causing my late 2011 macbook not to receive charge.

Yes, Apple will replace it if you are still under warranty. Otherwise, as in my case, you will have to buy a new one.
I purchased my MacBook Air July of 2011.  Approximately four months later the adapter stopped working. I brought my MacBook and the adapter to the Genius bar. The adapter was replaced because it was under warranty. To make sure the problem was not something I did as I didn’t want to duplicate, I inquired and was told some adapters just have problems.  After two weeks, I noticed the rubber coating to the wire bunched up on the L end that connects to the MacBook Air on the replacement adapter. I returned to the store and was assured that my concern was unwarranted and that since the adapter was working fine I was fine and that if it stopped working I could just return it. On 11/22/12 it was not getting power. I returned to the store. After being asked where I returned the adapter when I originally had the problem (same store) I was informed that the replacement adapter was only covered for three months, to be happy it lasted as long as it did, and I would need to buy a new one for $61. However, the store didn’t have the adapter I needed and could buy the 60W adapter for $79. I was told I could go up, just not down. Before leaving, however, I asked if I was doing something wrong with the adapter and how long the new one was covered for. He inspected the nonworking adapter, pointed at the where the wire connects to the base and said no, usually people have their cords pulled from here but yours looks fine. On the plus side, the rubber coating around the wire of the new adapter appears thicker with no chance of sliding and bunching up. Glad Apple fixed this issue.

  • I currently smashed my screen on my iphone 5 and I have repair warranty but I don't have the receipt, will apple replace the phone on the spot?

I currently smashed my screen on my iphone 5 and I have repair warranty but I don't have the receipt, will apple replace the phone on the spot? or do they send it away and repair it?
I bought the phone on ebay and it has no insurance or anything. but it has repair warranty until august.
Im located in Melbourne - Victoria - Australia if that helps.

    Hi CleanAus.
My tip is to go to the nearest Apple Store and make a appointment with one Genius Bar agent.
Of course, they will not replace the phone for you but they will repair it if you pay for it.
The warranty does not apply on cracked screens, caused by the user.

Recently Apple replaced the hard drive on Mac running Yosmite 10.10.2 and now when i try to rn FaceTime, the computer says "no camera available". Does anyone no how to fix this?

Assuming there is no hardware problem try reinstalling Yosemite. If this does not work then take it back to the Apple Store.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Does apple replace the shell of a macbook?

Well, I bought the new aluminum macbook at the beginning of this month. I unfortunately have dropped it and caused a slightly annoying dent, to where I have the battery cover not able to close. I already can guess that this is not covered under warranty, but does anybody know if apple repairs(replaces) the outer shell of the macbooks? If so what is the cost?
The laptop works perfectly fine, I am just disappointed to have ruined the case. I am unable to find the new cases on ifixit.com either.
I have no access to an apple store where I live, I am on a military installation about 400 miles from the closest one.

The "shell" of the new MacBook might be more than you think it is. In these notebooks, it is the main structural support, and also the foundation around which the other components of the computer are secured to. In order to replace this, virtually all the other components of the computer would have to be removed, then re-installed on another "unibody," the term Apple has coined for this lump of aluminum. In other words, it might end up being cheaper to just replace the whole computer, rather than just that part. Templeton Peck said the only way to find out is to call , and I agree. That would be the best way to find out. Also, don't forget to mention that you are in the military (or something to that extent). They may be a little more sympathetic and willing due to the more hostile environment one might find at such an installation. If Apple does go as far as replacing the computer or one of the components, they will take care of shipping and handling, so you won't be making 800 mile round-trips either.
    Best wishes,
    Nathan

  • Will Apple Replace the ear buds?

Today for the first time in a great while I used my iPod. After about 20 mins, the left speaker cut out. I do not know if it blew, or if the wires shorted... I do not blast my iPod because I have sensitive ears, etc... I bought the extended warranty for my iPod, but before I do anything, does Apple replace them, or do I have to pay an outrageous $30.00 for another pair? I prefer to get Apple earbuds because of the matching colors, and the "quality". Thanks!

I've gone through like 3 sets of Apple earbuds and all because one side cut out. Don't waste your money on those things. They have bad sound, they're too expensive for what they are, and the new ones are just plain uncomfortable. I bought the Bose On-ear headphones and they're so much better. It's also a big waste of time to wait for them to come by mail. I highly suggest getting something a little better than those bottom-of-the-line earbuds. And really, if you don't believe me about them having uncool sound, just go to the local Apple store and try out the Bose headphones compared to the Apple earbuds. And I doubt the sides will cut out.
