The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart.. Reset.. Restore from Backup... Restore as New...
Restarting your device
1) Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
2) Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Note: Reset your device only if it is no longer responding and the steps above do not work.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I recommend steps 1, 3 and 5 of the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant found here http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone/.
If you get to step 3, then I suggest closing all the apps. Here is step one to get you started
Restart iPhone
To restart iPhone, first turn iPhone off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPhone will turn off after a few moments.
Next, turn iPhone on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Is iPhone not responding? To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If your device does not turn on or displays a red battery icon, try recharging next.

My I phone 4 turn off alone and I had 40% of battery. After search on the Internet, I find out that it`s necessary to reset the iphone4 (Press turn on button + home button together,after little seconds the apple icon will appear.) After this procedure i`m not sure whether the problem was solved or will happen again. Apple Team, have you seen this problem before ??? I live in Brazil and have another guy with the same issue.

I just returned from the Apple store with the same issues. Diagnostics indicated I was running out of application memory. Try the following:
1) Double-click on home and then hold one of the bottom row icons for 2 seconds. Press the minus icon to remove every application from current memory. (this does not remove the app from your device.)
If this does not resolve your issue, try this:
2) Re-sync and restore from iTunes (this didn't resolve it for me.
Do this if the above does not resolve your issues:
3) DFU your phone. This basically rebuilds everything on the phone. If the phone is over a year old and you have lots of apps, things get fragmented. Bing search DFU your iphone for more detail.

What worked for me, is going to the camera app, switch to video, turn on flash, and record. Let the phone record for about 10 minutes. (your phone will probably keep reseting itself) but that is okay, let it reset, and go back the the camera app and repeat. what you are supposed to do is let the phone sit there and wait for the back to feel sort of hot. stop recording at about 8 minutes and plug your phone into itunes, it should be charging, and once you do so you can then set your phone into DFU mode. This might not help you, or it will. I just fixed my iphone today, that had the same problem as you. so keep trying and it will come back to normal again! Cheers!

The only step you can do since your button is broken is trying to put it in recovery mode. Heres how..
Have itunes open and your USB cord plugged in BUT NOT to your iphone. Hold down the home button on your iphone and while you hold it down, plug it into the cord and keep holding on to the button until the apple logo comes up. Once it does, you will need to restore your iphone but at least you will be able to use it again.

Restore as a NEW device (not from backup). If your problem persists without adding any 3rd party apps, then you have a hardware malfunction and you'll have to bring your phone into Apple.

I have exactly the same problem with iPhoto. On my iPad I just enabled Photo Stream once and it automatically is enabled each time I turn it on again. But on my MacBook Pro and my older tower Mac (both running Lion) I have to enable Photo Stream every time I reboot the computer. Frustrating.

If it's just the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store that you are having problems with, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

DO NOT restore all settings!!!! This will require you to call and reactive your services, rendering your phone a useless brick! You will lose all contacts, photos, etc... You need to restore your phone to its last back up. Then do the update on your computer. This will resolve your issues.
