  • Display folder path in the search result page

    Hi,
    I learnt that to customise the search results page, we need to change the SearchResultLayout set . Is there a command that I can add to the "command list" to display the folder/file path in the search results. Any suggestions in this regard is highly appreciated.

  • The way SharePoint open office documents will differ if the user try to open them from the document library directly, or if users try to open the document from the search result page.

    I have a document library where I have uploaded an excel sheet to it. Now If I click on the excel sheet directly from the document library page , I will get the following error ““The webpage cannot be displayed””. While if I do a search and I open the excel
    sheet from the search result page , it will open the excel sheet using the excel services inside the browser !!.
    So can anyone advice on this ?
    Also if I have a PowerPoint document , and I try to open it from the document library I will get the following error “The webpage cannot be displayed” , and the URL will be prefix with the following “ms-powerpoint:ofv|u|”. while if i do a search and i open
    the PowerPoint from the search result page i will be prompted to either open or save the document ? So why SharePoint is reacting totally different when trying to open document library items from the document library Or from the search result page?

    Hi,
    The behavior in the document library could be probably because of the Documents handling setting. Please try setting it to default behavior (Open in browser) as i hear from you that the default behavior is to open from browser.
    Thanks, Suneetha
    Currently I have set the following;-
    1. On the library advance setting :- I define  “Open in the client application”
    2. On the web application setting:- I define stricked for Browser File Handling
    And I have noted if I delete the browser cache and I access the document , then I will be prompted with the download dialog. but if I re-click on the same document I will be redirected to the
    The webpage cannot be displayed
    And the ms-powerpoint:ofv|u| will be added to the beginning of the URL. So could this be a caching problem ?

  • How do I get the top links in the search results page to display the folder?

    In the search results page, if you click on the top link from each result, it only brings up the description. Not much use as a link, so was wondering how you display the folder from this link.

    Is this for the general public or just for you?  If it is for the general public then insert this code at the top of the page:
    <TITLE>---</TITLE>
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="Pragma" CONTENT="no-cache">
    </HEAD>
    And also at the end of the file after the closing body tag:
    </BODY>
    <HEAD>
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="Pragma" CONTENT="no-cache">
    </HEAD>
    </HTML>
    It is unorthodox but it works.

  • Different Files Returned when using the Drop Down list on the Search Results Page

    Hi
    I have a result set of 22 documents when I select Date (Newest) from the drop down on the search results page.  The third document down is called "LL".
    If I now select Date (Oldest) I have a result Set of 22 documents. However, when I move to the second page.  The number of documents has reduced to 20 documents and my document "LL" which I would have expected to be the third from bottom document
    is not there.
    Am I doing something wrong here ?  Search is OOTB.  I have added some refiner columns.

    Nigel Price NJPEnterprises

    Hi Nigel,
    It is by design. The "About x results" is presented when the total number of results is uncertain, and that is when collapsing (i.e. duplicate detection in this case) is enabled and the result set is partially processed. By default, a result page
    shows 10 results at the time. Therefore, for result sets with less than or equal to 10 results you will always get an accurate number of results and hence “About” is omitted. For more than 10 results you will get the “About x results” on the first page until
    you get to the last page of results and only then we know the exact number of results and hence can omit the “About”.
    Note that when you page out in the result set you will notice that the X in the “About X results” can vary quite a lot. That is because the total number of results is estimated based on the collapsing done so far. This is a common way of doing it by other
    search engines as well.
    Here is a simlar post for your reference:
    http://spbreed.wordpress.com/2013/09/14/sharepoint-2013-solution-to-inconsistent-search-results-count/
    I hope this helps.

  • When writing an email the letters are so small that I can hardly read them. If I increase the size then the outgoing email letters are very large.

    letters are very large. I have tried changing the font but it doesn't help. This is very annoying. How can I remedy this?

    I use these settings, so try them:
    Tools > Options > Display > Formatting tab
    or
    Menu icon > Options > Options > Display > Formatting tab
    * eg: Default font: Arial
    * size 14
    Note: this sets the default font to be used in both display of messages and the font to use as default in composing messages.
    Under Plain text Messages
    * select: Style : Regular Size: Regular and colour Black
    * Click on 'Advanced' button
    * make sure all sizes - 14
    * select; 'allow messages to use other fonts'
    * Select; 'Use fixed width fonts for plain text messages'
    * click on OK
    Note: This will use the default eg: Arial to be used, but allows the display of messages to use other fonts if the sender specified them.
    then at top click on 'Composition' > General tab
    note: This sets the default composing text colour and background colour.
    under HTML
    * Font: Variable width
    * Size : Medium
    * Select a text colour for writing emails eg: Blue
    * Select background colur eg: white
    click on OK to save and close Options.

  • The last few weeks everything I print off a web page prints so small that I can barely read it. It used to print pages fine until 2 - 3 weeks ago when I upgraded Firefox. The same page prints fine in Internet Explorer.

    This started after I upgraded Firefox to the last version before 8.0.

    This has happened for me as well. When I checked the settings (File > Page Setup > "Format & Options": Scale ), the Scale value was 40%. I changed it to 100%.
    Today, I realized that the Scale option in Print Preview also sets the Scale value in the Page Setup. My expectation was that it was a temporary setting for a specific print request, however, it is a sticky setting.

  • How do I adjust the font size which is now so miniscule that I can't read it?!

    How do I increase the size of the font of the incoming e-mails?

    See [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Zoom_text_of_web_pages Zoom text of web pages - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]
    To change the text size of web pages, do any of the following
    * Firefox 3 and above: View -> Zoom -> Zoom In / Zoom Out / Reset / Zoom Text Only
    ** '''Ctrl+0''' (hold the control key and press zero) resets zoom to normal size ('''Zoom RESET''').
    ** '''Ctrl++''' (hold the control key and press the plus key) makes the text larger (Zoom IN).
    ** '''Ctrl+-''' (hold the control key and press the minus key) makes the text smaller. (Zoom OUT)
    ** '''Ctrl+scroll''' with mouse wheel

  • Get inside the document search result page

    In the document libary, there is a microsoft word document which has more than 100 pages. The user will search for  a specific sentence in one of the section inside the document using SharePoint 2013 search.
    The user will get the search document link in the search result page.
    Is there any option in SharePoint itself or using Third Party Plug in , when the user clicks on the search result link, the document will open the exact page where the search keyword is present ?

    I think it is not possible now.

  • My "What's New" procedure doesn't show the result Search result page

    Hi,
    I needed a "What's New" report for a content area. The advanced search screen has the option to query with the create date, but you can save the search with something like #sysdate-7. So I created the following procedure:
    create or replace procedure whatsnew
    (p_caid in number default 0
    ,p_folder_id in number default 1
    ,p_days in number default 7
    ) is
    a_attribute_id portal30.wwsbr_type.array;
    a_attribute_name portal30.wwsbr_type.array;
    a_attribute_caid portal30.wwsbr_type.array;
    a_attribute_data_type portal30.wwsbr_type.array;
    a_attribute_operator portal30.wwsbr_type.array;
    a_attribute_value portal30.wwsbr_type.array;
    begin
    a_attribute_id(1) := '10';
    a_attribute_name(1) := 'createdate';
    a_attribute_caid(1) := '0';
    a_attribute_data_type(1) := 'date';
    a_attribute_operator(1) := portal30.wwsbr_search_api.greater_than;
    a_attribute_value(1) := to_char(sysdate-p_days);
    portal30.wwsbr_search_api.submit_search
    (p_search_terms => null
    ,p_caid => p_caid
    ,p_current_caid => p_caid
    ,p_folder_id => p_folder_id
    ,p_folder_caid => p_caid
    ,p_include_child_folders => portal30.wwsbr_search_api.yes
    ,p_attribute_id => a_attribute_id
    ,p_attribute_name => a_attribute_name
    ,p_attribute_caid => a_attribute_caid
    ,p_attribute_data_type => a_attribute_data_type
    ,p_attribute_operator => a_attribute_operator
    ,p_attribute_value => a_attribute_value
    end;
    Now you can call this from a dynamic page component (have it displayed as portlet), or include it as an URL item in the content area (/pls/portal30/portal30.whatsnew?p_caid=33&p_folder_id=1&p_days=7).
    This work fine and show the search result. Now I've customized the Search Result Page, but it seems that wwsbr_search_api is navigating to a standard (fixed layout) search result screen (square item/folder links in stead of tabs) and not to my customized Search Result Page. If I click the submit button in the result screen then it navigates to my customized Search Result Page.
    So why doesn't wwsbr_search_api navigate to the customized Search Result Page, or am I doing something wrong ?

  • Is there a way? When I type something in the search engine feature, is there a way that when I press enter to search, it comes up in a new tab, rather on the page I am using?

    When I type something in the search engine feature, is there a way that when I press enter to search, it comes up in a new tab, rather on the page I am using?

    Yes, and I presume you mean both the search engine results, and the pages opened from the results.
    Without making any changes you could always use '''Alt+Enter''' once you typed something into the search bar, or the location bar so that it would appear in a new tab. From the search results page you could always use "'''Ctrl+click'''" or "'''Ctrl+Shift+click'''" to open link n a new tab
