Someone else is using my email address as their apple id?

I am trying to create an apple ID, but it states one already exists using that email address; although when I try to reset the password, I don't receive the emails and if I try to answer the security questions, it wont accept my DoB?  Help... how can someone else have registered my email address as their apple ID?

You'll probably have to contact iTunes store support to straighten this out.  They deal with Apple ID issues all the time.  You can contact them here: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

  • Someone has been using my email address as their Apple ID

    Hello,
Someone has been using MY email address as their Apple ID.  When I started setting up my own Apple ID with my own email address, I eventually had to reset the associated password, thinking I had made this Apple ID earlier.  Then when I logged into the account, it turned out to be someone else's account.  Help, how do I fix this so I have my Apple ID associated with my email address and the other person knows to change their Apple ID email address?
    Thanks!

I had this happen a few years ago. Someone created an iTunes account using one of my Gmail email addresses. I got the email to verify the account.  I verified it, and then hit the forgot my password link. Reset the password and logged in. There I could see the ladies name, address and credit card. I changed it all to my name and removed the payment info and never entered my card number so they account could not be used.
    Never had a problem again.

Are you sure it isn't you?  Apple sends e-mail to the address provided which means that even if somebody did have the wild idea of signing up for an account with an address that isn't theirs, it would just end up with you receiving their e-mail and essentially being able to take over their account.
    By the way, "I'd" = "I would".  I.D. = "Identity".

If a person is using your email address, you should change your email password and make sure there aren't any forwards to some strange email address.
An example if you were using gmail, under account settings, a forward can be set up to send messages to another email address.
If your email address is say, you own domain, such as somename@somename dot com, make sure the forwards are forwards you set up.
If your email account was hacked and the bad guy has access, you need to cut him off, first by changing the password and second cut off any message forwarding to the bad guy if he set it up.  Just changing the password would keep a bad guy out, but if the bad guy set up a forward, he will still get your email.
A confirmation from Apple would have come to your email address in order to confirm that Apple ID.  If you are getting the other person's purchase notifications, you would have gotten a confirmation of that account from Apple.

  • Someone with my name is using my email address as their Apple ID

Someone with my name is using my gmail account ([email protected]) as their apple ID. So all of the emails are coming to me. I tried texting the phone number in the account, but was unable to. (I'm not calling because they're in Canada.) They have credit in the iTunes store, and there's no real reason to think they're nefarious, but I'd like them to stop using my email address!

  • Someone is using my personal email address for their apple ID and I'm sick of it! I can't sign up for my own itunes account or anything using MY OWN email address. My email address is my property, not theirs.

Someone is using my personal email address for their apple ID and I'm sick of it! I can't sign up for my own itunes account or anything using MY OWN email address. My email address is my property, not theirs.
I'm using their account and will continue to reset their password and settings until they either get the message or Apple do something about it and disable or migrate their account so that I can use MY OWN email address for my own purposes.
I don't want to be informed about Apple products and services for someone else on my email account.
I want to be able to use it MYSELF for iTunes
All I am asking you to do is migrate their apple ID to their alternate email account settings and free up my email address so that:
    A. I can use it and B. I stop getting messages about their account history.
Either that or just cancel their account as they have no right to use my personal details.
Yes I could set up a new email address but WHY THE **** should I? I've been using this email account for years for personal stuff, it's not mu fault if someone can sign it up as an AppleID without me being able to confirm their sign up process!
Your move Apple, make it count.

    Hi Sister Kate,
If you change the Apple ID you are using on an iPhone or other iOS device, there are several places you need to change it on the device. See this article -

  • Update apple ID.  Someone is using my email address as their ID

I just updated to IOS 5 on my iPad 2 and the first thing it does is go through the setup process again.  I put in my apple ID like normal, but now it says that I have to update my apple ID to an email address.  No problem, I put in my email address and it tells me that someone is using my address as their ID already.  I only have one email address and I have never created an apple id using it.  as a matter of fact, that email address is the one tied to my original apple id.  Is there anything I can do about this?

Same problem here.  I've ignored it for awhile, but now with all the iCloud/Facetime/etc business it's really becoming a pain. Somebody else is using my [email protected] as their ID, and when I try to do the password reset I never get the email, so they've obviously got another one in there.  Also, I cannot go through birthday verification since I don't know their birthday.  I've ended up using [email protected] as my own Apple ID, since that gets delivered to my inbox.
Tried the Apple support route a few months ago and it looked like they were ready to help me out by removing the email from this other person's account, but they wimped out and told me they couldn't help.
It's true, you can grab any email you want if nobody else has, and Apple does nothing to verify it.  Once it's grabbed, nobody else can associate it with their Apple ID.
This is a big messy problem; hopefully Apple comes up with a solution soon.

  • Someone in France is using my email address for an Apple ID.

Just bought my first iPhone 24 hours ago. Tried to create an Apple ID. Someone in France is apparently using my email address for their own account. Whenever I try to redeem the code on an App Store card I just bought, a message pops up that I presume says I can't use the code in France. Then iTunes and the App Store revert to French settings. I can reset the language to Canadian english on my laptop, but iTunes and the App Store on my iPhone remain in French. I've tried resetting my iPhone, to no avail. Very frustrated because I only get email support, and have to wait 24 hours for a reply. When I looked at my account, there is someone else's personal information, including credit card info. WHY?????????????//

  • HT204053 I have an iPhone 4S and the new Apple TV, both setup with my email as the Apple ID.  I gave my wife an iPad 3 and set it up using her email address as the Apple ID.  Is a second iTumes Match subscription required for her to use our music from iCl

I have an iPhone 4S and the latest Apple TV, both setup with my email address as the Apple ID.  I subscribed to iTunes Match so our music could be played from iCloud.  I gave my wife an iPad 3 and set it up using her email address as the Apple ID.  When I try to turn on iMatch so she can play our music from iCloud on her new iPad it tells me that she needs a subscription to iTunes Match.  Is it Apple's intent that we would need two iTunes Match subscriptions?  If not, how do I accomplish what I want to get done?

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
    and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
    and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

  • HT4865 How can I report some one using my email address on the Apple site?

I have a Keith Walls of Consett UK using my email address on the apple site I have reported it but had no reply from Apple so I reset the password and all so removed his name, address details, phone number but days later I find the log on email reverted back to this person once again I requested a password reset to get on to this site. Can anyone help me find how to sort this out, or remove my email address from the Apple site? Thanks for any help and assistance.

You might try contacting the Apple account security team: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699.

  • Someone signed up using my email address

Someone else signed up to itunes using my email address some time ago. I certainly did not verify it, but I did hit unsubscribe links in the emails. Despite this, I kept receiving unwanted apple marketing material. In my latest attempt to make the emails stop I reset the password, signed in and unsubscribed from the apple ID site. I also changed the primary email address to a throwaway email address, as I don't want to be notified every time this person purchases something.
The problem is that now this person probably won't be able to access his/her account because the password and AppleID have both changed. I don't see this as my problem, but if anyone from Apple support reads this could they please let this person access this account if they are contacted by them. I did not change any contact details or the security question, so they should be able to answer those as they were entered.

    hi there.
I've been using Skype for years now with a single Skype name, and I noticed some time ago when doing a password reset that someone has signed up for Skype using my email address. I presume because they failed to spell their own email address correctly. (I get a TON of email coming in addressed incorrectly for various people (not spam) because people can't spell their own name or the name of their friend or acquaintaince - quite annoying really. But I guess that's a problem with using a gmail account.)
So now I have 3 Skype names associated with my email address, when there should be only 1. Is there any way to have those 2 extra Skype names removed from my email address? I searched on Skype and both of them belong to someone with the same name 'Gabriel' in the United States (I'm in Australia). I assume it's the same person.
I just don't want people searching for my email address and thinking that person is me...
    Thanks.

  • Somebody else is using my email address as an appleid in other iphone, how can I stop them ?

Yesterday I received an email from Apple <[email protected]> requiring me to verify an apple ID with my email address; how can I prevent/stop somebody else from using my email as an ID??

You can't.  Only the person that signed up for that Apple ID (using that email address as the name) and has the password to that Apple ID can modify that Apple ID house a different email account.
Nothing about your personal email account is at risk.  It just means that someone probably made a typo (maybe they have a very similar email address to yours), and they never got the verification email.  You did instead.  No one at Apple can change that for you.
Again; only the person that has the password to that Apple ID can adjust the primary email address of that account.
How to reset your Apple ID password.
Go to iforgot.apple.com and type in your Apple ID, then click 'Next'.
Verify your date of birth, then click 'Next'.
You'll be able to choose one of two methods to reset your password, either E-Mail Authentication or Answer Security Questions.
If neither method works, then go to https://getsupport.apple.com
(If you see a message that says 'There are no products registered to this Apple ID, simply click on 'See all products and services')
Choose 'More Products & Services', then 'Apple ID'.
    A new page will open.
Choose 'Other Apple ID Topics', then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'.
    Click the blue 'Continue' button.
Select the contact option that suits your needs best.

  • Someone else has used my email account to create an itunes account

Hi! Hopefully somebody maybe able to help.
I have an itunes account, but have another personal email address. Someone has registered this email address for itunes and an ipod touch (which I don't have)
I saw the two emails from apple saying thank-you for registering so I emailed apple on [email protected] to say that I hadn’t registered this email account and asking them to delete my email address as an apple itunes account. I didn’t hear anything back so thought maybe it was ok.
Then today I received an itunes receipt only for $1.07 and billed to Store Credit. The email address is right but they have used my name and a different address in USA whereas I live in UK.
I’m worried this is fraud and it will escalate.
Any ideas how can I get this sorted out?
Anybody know of the best contact details for apple for this sort of thing?
Thanks for ay help anybody can give me!

You can contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form on their Support page (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting) and explain your situation to them.
    Good luck.

  • HT204088 Someone else has the SAME eMail Address as ME

Today I received an eMail from Apple to MY Apple ID / eMail Address. The Name that the eMail was supposed to be going to however was NOT ME. This has actually happened several times in the past several months, not just to me, but also to my wife. An eMail comes into our eMail Box for me.com, but the person it is directed to is NOT either one of us - but the eMail Addresses ARE ours.
The eMail I received today was for comeone in Arizona (I live in Washington State). It was an eMailed Receipt for something that customer had purchased in that Arizona Apple Store. So since I got his eMail, did he NOT get the Receipt? How can this happen? Are there no quality control checks on eMail Addresses so it's possible for MULTIPLE people to end up with the SAME eMail Address?
    Appreciate your Replys and Feedback...

The websites that she has signed up to I have logged in and there is no message asking for email verification which suggests she is receiving emails.
If they could sign in using an email address that isn't verified then all the website owner has is her word that she is receiving their emails.  Besides, if there had been a verification email for these sites, you would have seen it too; which suggests that there wasn't.
Once you get the password changed they will not be able to receive any email from the account, even if they do now.  That may not be the end of the problem, however, as there would still be nothing to prevent them from continuing to use the address to sign up on websites that don't verify the address.  If it persists, you may have to either create a new iCloud account in order to get a new email address, or create an alias address to use within the existing iCloud account and stop using your main address for email.  Then you can set up an email rule on icloud.com that sends email from the main addres to the trash where it is deleted 30 days later.  This explains how to create an alias address: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a490a.  This explains how to set up an email rule: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a3f8a.  Good luck.

  • Someone else is using my email id for facetime and imessage, how can i fix this??

    How can i fix this??

To elaborte on Davids response aortiz5 you can got to appleid.apple.com and click the option to manage your apple id.  Here you will be able to change your primary apple id and email address if you want. Or if this is your apple id and you think some one else has access to it you can click on passwords and security on the left and change your password for your apple id which will cause the other devices to prompt for the new password.
