Someone else made a skypename on my email

I have tried to get skype but my email was already on file. It turns out that a username has already been attached to my email. This is not my name nor does it have anything to do with my name. I would like to have my own skype account, and not one forced my someone else's typo. Please tell me how I can do this.

you can register the same email when you create an account, it is possible to for an email address to be associated with more than one account.
yet, you may still need to contact customer service (link below) to report this case, and to request to unlink that account from your email address.

Hi Tim, your problem sounds a bit different, if you're not getting the wrong Apple ID thing, it may get more help to post a new query of your own.

  • How can I set a password on my Mac Mini so someone else cannot open it and read emails, etc.?

How can I set a password on my Mac Mini?  Someone else is reading my emails.  I would like to be able to lock it so nothing on it could be seen without a password.  Is that possible?  How?

So uncheck the automatic login after making sure you know your password and it will require a password on startup.
You can also go into the security preferences and have the machine lock itself once the screensaver is activated. This is sometimes controlled from the screensaver preferences as well.
You could also go nuts and activate multiple users where your name appears in the menu bar. When you walk away from the machine you can use that menu to take you to the "login window", effectively locking your machine.

  • It seems my iCloud email address is shared by someone else. I am getting their emails, and hate to think they are getting mine. How can I check the exclusivity of the iCloud email address?

I am receiving email belonging to someone else. It appears that the iCloud email address I was allocated is used by someone else, and I hate to think my email is being received by them. What's the way to have Apple iCloud check and see that only one recipient gets an iCloud email address? Thanks, John

This is not a hacked account issue.  It seems that this a common issue for many... Apple Mail Engineers, Please Do Something!!!  With each iteration of Apple's cloud services, the domain changed. i.e., @mac.com, @me.com and now @icloud.com.  It seems Apple's original plan or thought was to let you own the account name across all domains. So, [email protected] will also have the option use the newer @me.com and @icloud.com accounts at the same time (why?).  With millions of devices being activated around the world, it seems some already established accounts like [email protected] were allowed to be activated as new accounts under [email protected] or [email protected] by other new iCloud users.  I'm having the same problem with my email account and my son's email account.  In both cases, the second user is based in Europe (we are in the USA).  I've set all my devices to strictly use the [email protected] account.  In iCloud settings, I see the option to also use the @me.com and @icloud.com addresses.  From time to time, I get  emails sent to the [email protected]  This is very nerve racking because you don't want to get caught with your pants down or feel that someone other than the NSA is watching your email traffic.  We can only hope Apple knows about this and has a way to differentiate accounts via another authentication key assigned to each of your devices.  Good luck guys.

  • Someone else is trying to use ma email as apple id

Looks like someone else is trying to use my apple id on their iphone 6.
As I don't own an iphone 6 and I keep on getting emails from apple to verify my email. Which I didnt. But I hate to wake to multiple emails to verify the account which I never created.

  • Does someone else have my iCloud Mail address?

I'm either being scammed or someone else has been issued my iCloud email address.
Just started getting lots of "Facebook" titled emails sent to my iCloud address. They are in the name of a different user, though, not me.
How can I contact Apple if this is a duplicate email issued by them in error? How can I tell if it's bogus?

Thanks, but, your link took me here, http://www.apple.com/support/contact/, and the "get started button" didn't work.
Is there another way to access the kb information?
Edit: Actually took me here, https://getsupport.apple.com/Issues.do, and I get the spinning gear.

  • How do I un-link my email address from someone else's Apple ID?

Recently someone in India bought an iPhone 5 and now every time he downloads an app to it, I get the receipt for it in my inbox. His apple ID is his gmail address, which is somewhat similar to mine, so I'm guessing he set my email address as his accidentally, and was apparently able to do so without verification (I find it hard to believe Apple would allow this, but apparently they do). I tried to log on to his Apple ID account to change the settings, but the recovery email address for the password reset is not set to my email address. So, can anyone help me figure out how to get his Apple ID unlinked from my email address? I would be grateful.
I got on gmail ca 2004 and was able to get simply my first name @gmail, which seemed amazing at the time, but now that the whole Indian subcontinent is getting online in full force, with many people apparently not understanding that you can't just use any email address you want, and because my first name is a common name in Pakistan and India, people accidentally sign me up for mailing lists over there multiple times a day. I get resumes sent to me daily, responses for classified ads that I didn't post, and often the sites are set up such that I have to log on to unsubscribe, but I don't have the password so I can't...it's getting out of control!  How is it possible that Apple allows this kind of mistake as well by not requiring email verification?

I made up the names edward and daniel, it's not actually anyone's email address, so no need for concern.
In practice, I'm sure you're right that I would have fewer problems with a longer, more complex email address. But in principal, the problem remains. I could sign up for the Apple ID
    1234.NoOneWillEverUseThisAddress.5678@gmail
and someone else could sign up for the Apple ID
    1234.NoOneWillEverUseThisAddress.5678+1@gmail
and apple would have no problem with it, even though for all intents and purposes it's the same email address. So the problem is not just the ambiguity of my, to use Dahveed's words, overly simplistic and unsophisticated, email address:
there is a fundamental flaw in the way Apple links email addresses to accounts that allows for this ambiguity.  If they followed the same conventions that gmail did, there would be no possibility of this problem.

  • Help please - An email address that I rarely used several years ago got reset to someone else's apple ID in place of the email account they used to create their account. How can this happen?

A friend accused me of switching an email account that I used several years ago to send them photos on Flikr (gmail) for their Apple ID - in other words of.messing with their account. I only used the gmail account to post / send them and several other people photos on a few occasions and have not used the account since. I forgot that I had it. When this friend couldn't access their iTunes account the store discovered that the email had been reset to my very old gmail address. How is this possible? Now, they are accusing me of hacking in although no purchases were made and nothing was done with the account. Still, my reputation is at stake. Could they have done it in error? It looks bad for me. Help please.

  • Receiving someone else's email on my computer but addressed to another

I have been receiving someone else's email on my computer, but the email has the address for their
computer. We are using 2 different ISP; only our last name is the same. Is this the work of a virus/worm received from an email from the other person? What can I do to rid my email of this intrusion?

I would say there are 2 possibilities:
    1) The the sender (or sender's computer) sent the email to your address
    2) The ISP of 'the other person' has made an error in one of his rerouting-rules
The only thing you can do is report these cases (forward the email with Full Headers ON) to the postmaster of both your and the other person's domain, as well as to the sender.
The problem is not on your end UNLESS you managed to configure your mailreader in a way that you use the other person's mail-servername, username and password, which is very unlikely!
    Kind regards,
    Adam

  • Voicemail notifications in email from someone else's account

Hi, I really like the email notifications when I get a voicemail on my FIOS landline.  I really do.  But I don't like the email notifications that tell me that someone else, whom I don't know, gets a voicemail.  I tried contacting the other person but didn't get any response.
How can I get these email notifications "A new message has arrived in your {edited for privacy} mailbox." stopped coming to me?
I asked customer support in chat and they told me it was my problem to solve, which is why I tried to contact the other person.
    thanks.

  • Someone else opened an itunes account with my email address

I attempted to change my email address on my itunes account and discovered that my current email address was already in use. I thought I must have registered it at some point and forgotten the password so I did the password reset. When I logged in, I discovered the account actually belonged to someone else.So obviously someone had the email address before I did and used it to open an itunes account that has never been updated. Since I've had the address for quite awhile, I can only assume that person does not use itunes anymore. I'd still like to update my account but can find no way to either close the other person's account or notify that person that they need to update their account. My other concern is that when I do update the account with my current email address, I worry that the person who previously had the address will decide to use itunes again and will end up in my account.
    What do I do?
    Thanks!

I see, oh you should definately take Carolyn's advice. I've needed to talk to an Account Security Rep a few times, and even though you may need to start the process online, they will talk to you on the phone in a case like this, as it's just too difficult to type out all of the complicated but critical details.

  • Entourage Email - I have taken over someone else job so have her email account with all folders and past emails and have also added my own email account. How can I sync the folders- as I need to be able to see them on my iphone but its under her 'account'

I have taken over someone else job so have two email accounts on my Entourage - as the past account had all the folders and past emails when I sync my mail onto my iphone I can not see the folders and any past emails. How can I sync all of her old mail account info (emails and folders) to my email account to make ONE email account?!

I thought that originally too, but that's all changed with the pool of apps that are out there now. So now what I'm trying to do is to prove that technology is progressing to the point where a tiny, handheld phone can produce images that are nearly as good as photos taken with much more expensive and bulky equipment. I've got my share of expensive bulky camera equipment, but I'm finding that I'm having much more enjoyment out of using my iPhone from initial capture, to editing, to publishing, and achieving results that are nearly as good.
I do think you're working under a bit of a handicap. For example, lens quality. Here's an iPhone photo example of some wild turkeys in the neighborhood masked by flare that would be much better controlled on an SLR lens (click to enlarge - the flare is obvious, the turkeys are not):
At the same time, working under a handicap can definitely spur creativity, similar to the oft-cited example of swapping out your zoom lens for a prime to force yourself to pay attention to composition.
It's an interesting concept - I wish you luck!

  • How come someone else is receiving my icloud emails?

I just found out that someone else is receiving my icloud emails. I tried to make a dinner reservation and gave my icloud email address, nothing turned up so I called them and they said that someone with the same name as me called 5 minutes before to say they had received the confirmation email. I checked the address i entered online and it was correct, so someone else is receiving my mail. On checking back to my inbox, I haven't received a mail for about a week!! I can send mail, checked this by sending to my Gmail account, but someone else with the same name is receiving my mail, what can I do?

    Hi Cammalitos,
If you are concerned about the security of your iCloud email account, and based on what you state it sounds like you should be, you should change the password for that Apple ID and iCloud account (they are the same) using the steps provided here -

You may also want to consider turning on two-step verification for increased security -

  • HT4436 If someone else has set up an ICloud account (that uses his name in the email address) using my Apple ID, do I have to change my Apple ID to open an account with my name in the email address?

If someone else has set up an ICloud account using my email address and Apple ID but has chosen his name for the mail name, can I get rid of his name in the [email protected] and put mine in there?  Or do I have to set up a whole new acount with a new Apple ID?  Will I be able to do that with his name already linked to my email address?

How did he manage to do this? - he would have to have known your password if he was using an existing Apple ID. You should change it immediately to something strong and unguessable. That will prevent him accessing the account or using the email he has set up (assuming he hasn't changed the password and locked you out).
You can't change the primary @icloud.com address once set up, though you can create additional addresses as email aliases: if he's given this address out you will get his emails but you could set up a Rule to trash them.
You might to better to create a new ID and iCloud account anyway. To do this you wil need a different non-Apple email address (you could use a free GMail one); or you have the option in the iCloud prefs pane to choose an @icloud.com address and make that the ID.

How do I log out of my email account to allow someone else to log in

In mail app, you can remove the account and add theirs in settings>Mail, Calendars,Contacts.
or add theirs only and in mail, go up a level and view each inbox seperately.
The ipad is not designed for multi-user use however so it is not easy.
