Someone else's photos (333 of them) showed up as mounted folder after crash

So iPhoto has been crashing a lot as I have been updating keywords using Keyword Assistant (I recently imported ~3500 pictures). When iPhoto re-opens after a crash, sometimes I lose some of the changes I recently made.
But to my big surprise, when it auto-reopened iPhoto after the most recent crash, I had 333 photos in a mounted folder (with an eject button) labeled "Joe Schmoe's Photos" dated 2006/09/29 to 2007/08/05. I do not know this person, do not recognize the photos, and I seem to have pictures dated through yesterday. I am not a .Mac subscriber, nor do I share my photos online through iPhoto, but it would seem that I have been granted access to Joe Schmoe's photos.
If I indeed have been accidentally granted access to someone else's photos, this is a huge security concern! I have a screen shot of this and will share it with an Apple developer/employee, but do not want to post it here because of privacy issues related to showing someone else's pictures to the world.
If anyone has any ideas of what else might be going on, I'm all ears.
Note the following:
-I was connected to the internet(wirelessly) at the time of the crash/re-open.
-These photos are not in my library, but seem to be a separate mounted folder.
-The name does not show up in searches of my computer nor in the finder/desktop as a mounted drive.
-There is no exposure info on any of the pictures
-When it crashed and reopened (again, just now), Nathan Bowen's photos are still there, but it seems to take time to load them (like they're downloading perhaps)

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Found someone else's photos in my iCloud Photo Library?

Hello.  I was just going though my photo library on iCloud.com and I noticed 4 random entries for "Yesterday," stuck in the middle of the Moments list.  Three of them were just blank black photos supposedly taken on a street nearby and another was taken on another nearby street but clearly depicts a pile of clothing and someone's leg I have never seen before.  Is someone else's photo library crossing with mine?  Are other people receiving my photos?  What can be done about this?  It is very, very bad news!

Change the password for your iCloud account. If you have not already done so, turn on two step authentication.

  • I've got someone else's photos on my photostream

My photostream has disappeared and I now have someone else's photos in my photostream. How do I get rid of them and get my photos back.
I Haven't updated my software or lost any of my apple devices so I don't know why this is happening.

No I don't share my Apple ID or iTunes account, the photos aren't local either. I've now changed my apple password so I think that'll stop it but now all my photos are gone, I assume on someone else's photostream?

  • How to delete someone else's photos on my iPad 2

Just purchased iPad2 and setup with someone else's laptop. I now have about 600 photos in my photo app that are not mine. How do I.delete these images.

I did sync my iPad 2 to my pc. However, those 'someone else's photos are still in the photo app. I also have a small quantity of photos on my iPhone and iPod touch that did not transfer to the new iPad.

  • I keep getting someone else's photos in my photo stream and can't delete them directly

    Hi !
I noticed lately that I keep getting pics of someone else in my photo stream. I thought maybe that someone hacked into my cloud so I disabled it and the share feature for photos. This isn't the first time this happens, I used to get pics from this person before and then it stopped. I also changed my ID and password just in case, but I still don't know where this is coming from. I'm afraid that they might have been getting some of my pics too :S

Just as an interesting follow-up, I contacted Apple's technical support line to try to inform them of this privacy violation (i.e. That I've received photos of some guy's kids on my phone) and was told that they couldn't help me because I didn't have tech support coverage.  I could, however, purchase said coverage for $60 or $70.  I explained that I wasn't having a technical issue with my phone, but rather there was a back-end issue.  I asked why I should pay to have them deal with a problem on their end, and a problem that is actually affecting someone else, since it's his photos that are getting broadcast.  The Apple tech couldn't supply an answer to that.  He did suggest that I change my password, though I can't imagine the issue is that some guy hacked my account so he could upload pictures of his family playing in the backyard or him attending a football game.

  • My photos contain someone else's photos and my phone settings are scrambled. I also receive someone else's messages after 7.0.3 update?

I have photos on my 4s of someone else, taken in a very different area than what I am in. Also receiving some of their imessages?

is there any chance that your icloud is signed into their account or them on your's?

  • Receiving someone else's photos in my Photo Stream through iCloud.

I've been using Photo Stream on iCloud for almost a year with no issues.  Last week, some random guy's photos started appearing in my stream.  The pics seem to be from an American account (or at least he was attending an NFL preseason game), while I live in Canada.  I'm a little uncomfortable with what seems like a pretty serious privacy issue and I'm obviously wondering if he can see my photos too.  How do I fix this?  Thanks.

  • Someone else's photos are popping up in my photo stream? Anybody else have a similar problem?

As the topic says. It's funny that after #theFappening Apple seems to have another problem with iCloud. The photos that are popping up have been taken with an iPhone 5S, I however have an iPhone 5 regular. There are always three photos. Whenever I check on the photos app there are new three photos, with the last ones disappearing. Very discomforting to think that somebody else might have my photos the same way.

Well, my apologies to Apple for saying they have an embarrassing glitch. It turns out the fault was on my end. What happened: a friend of mine (Windows PC owner) was unable to transfer his photos to his PC. He asked if he could use my Mac and transfer them via iPhoto. Of course I helped and even turned off my wifi, so that his photos wouldn't turn up in my photo stream. After we transferred and exported the pictures to a USB stick, I immediately deleted them from iPhoto, but it seems like a bunch of photos somehow still managed to get into my stream.
I just hope his dick doesn't pop up in my stream. Wouldn't want to have to explain that to my wife, as we are using an iPad at home which is connected to my stream as well.

  • Retrieving photos from my hard drive to my computer desktop after crash

My computer crashed and I've been able to put back most of my programs because of having an external hard drive.  How do I get my Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 program with photos back?
    Help!
    Thanks.
    Edna

Thanks for your reply.  I already had an external hard drive when my computer crashed so everything was backed up.  How do I get my photos off of there and back onto my computer?  Also, how do I re-install my Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 program back onto my computer.
How did you make the backups? DId you use the PSE Organizer command File->Backup Catalog? Or did you make the backups outside of PSE?
To reinstall PSE, you would insert the PSE6 CD; or if you downloaded PSE and registered with Adobe, you can go to their site and download PSE6 again and run it from that file.

  • Someone else's pics on my iPhoto

Yesterday I was importing my pics to iPhoto so I could send them to the iWeb pages I'm putting together. About 1/2 way through my computer started acting up. Photos would not drag or drop nor move, files wouldn't move and iPhoto would crash and quit.
When I brought it back up I had someone else's photos on there too, all 400 of them! Thank goodness they were of a nice family. I couldn't get rid of them. So got out of iPhoto, then back in and all was where I left my work.
This happened twice. I don't have sharing on either.
Crazy. Anyone else have this happen?

    Allie:
I suggest you go to the Airport forum and ask how to set the security of your wireless network to the highest level possible. There's more at stake than just photos.

    What did you try?
Is that the only folder that gives problems?
    Are you using Sync?
Try to remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database from the most recent JSON backup (bookmarks-YYYY-MM-DD_<item count>_<hash value>.json) in the bookmarkbackups folder.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync (temporarily) while performing maintenance/repair efforts to the places.sqlite database.

I had tried those options before and this one and it didn't work.

  • If you log out of your apple ID on your iPad and let someone else use it and they use facetime.  How come it shows my facetime history and not theirs?   I do not want them to have access to my history.  How can I prevent that and they can see their own?

If you log out of your apple ID on your iPAD mini and let someone else use it and they use facetime.  How come it shows my facetime history and not theirs?   I do not want them to have access to my history.  How can I prevent that and they can see their own?  Or is the history associated with the iPAD mini itself and not the actual icloud user account?

    You are logging out from
    Settings -> FaceTime, right?
My guess would be though, that the FaceTime history is stored locally on the device, so anyone using it will see the entire device history (I cannot imagine that FaceTime uploads the history to an Apple server anywhere - I'm sure it is just logged locally on the device - based on my iPhone and iPad show completely different histories, for example).

  • Someone sent me photos taken by Windows phone, but I can't see them on iphone 4. It only shows a box with "JPG" in it. Any suggestions?

Hi, disable network lock then try connecting your iPhone 3G to your network, re-enable Network Lock once it is connected.
    My Cisco Network Magic Configuration:
Router: D-Link WBR-2310 A1 FW:1.04, connected to Comcast High Speed Internet
Desktop, iMac: NM is on the Windows Partition, using Boot camp to access Windows, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit RTM, Broadcom Wireless N Card, McAfee Personal Firewall 2009,
Mac Partition of the iMac is using Mac OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard
Laptop: Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG, McAfee Personal Firewall 2008
