Someone else's pics on my iPhoto

Yesterday I was importing my pics to iPhoto so I could send them to the iWeb pages I'm putting together. About 1/2 way through my computer started acting up. Photos would not drag or drop nor move, files wouldn't move and iPhoto would crash and quit.
When I brought it back up I had someone else's photos on there too, all 400 of them! Thank goodness they were of a nice family. I couldn't get rid of them. So got out of iPhoto, then back in and all was where I left my work.
This happened twice. I don't have sharing on either.
Crazy. Anyone else have this happen?

I suggest you go to the Airport forum and ask how to set the security of your wireless network to the highest level possible. There's more at stake than just photos.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • How do I un-sync someone else's Facebook from my iPhoto

A while back, my friend somehow synced up her facebook to my phone. Now all of her picture albums from facebook show up on my iPhoto. If I try to share something directly from iPhoto it will show up on her newfeed. I don't know how to un-sync her facebook and sync mine. Also, she lives in a completly different state now. How can I fix this?

    Hey ruthie_adams,
Thanks for the question. I understand your friend’s Facebook account is linked to your iPhoto application. To remove her account, simply delete it from iPhoto > Preferences > Accounts.

  • Uploading from iPhoto to someone else's web gallery

Is there any easy way to upload files to someone else's web gallery from iPhoto? I know that it's possible to copy the picture in question to the desktop and then upload via the web, but that just doesn't seem apple-like in ease of use.

Probably the easiest way is to email photos to the web gallery if it has been setup to receive emails.

I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • After upgrading to Yosemite iPhoto won't work or upgrade to newest version because" someone else bought or it was deleted" What's up'? I bought it but I did delete my app from my iPad! Did I screw up?

After upgrading from Lion to Yosemite my iPhoto wouldn't work because it "needed to be upgraded" so I tried to upgrade by got the message that I couldn't upgrade b/c someone else bought it or it was deleted. I deleted my iPhoto app on my iPad about 1 week ago but my iPhoto and 1000s of pix were fine. What's up? Did I screw up by deleting the app?

No, the versions of iPhoto on the iPad and on OS X are totally different.
What Apple ID are you using for the Mac App Store? Who else has access to that Apple ID, or what possible other Apple IDs could be in use? It's possible you'll need to purchase iPhoto to get the upgrade, though I'd think Software Update should offer you the correct version.

That's because the Mac, OS X and the iLife apps that came preinstalled on the Mac all belong to the previous owner. The previous owner needs to call Apple care and have their Apple ID disassociated from the Mac. Then the hard drive needs to be totally erased and OS X and the iLife apps reinstalled using OS X Recovery.

  • When i received a picture message on the top of the pic it said 1 of 2 does that mean they sent it to someone else or just pics in library

When i received a piture message on the top of the pic is said 1of 2 does this mean it was sent to someone else i a different message of just # of pics in library?

You did not get an email, you got a MMS. You have to enable MMS on your phone before you can see the picture.

  • All pics loaded onto iphoto or preview show up but won't let me edit. Thanks, Woody

    Hey everyone,
Pics loaded into iphoto or preview show up in the programs and my desktp, but won't let me edit.
    Thanks, Woody

How are you trying to edit?
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • FIles from iPod to Someone else's Mac in disk mode???????????

    Hi there all,
I've got a couple of gigs worth of files, i need to put them on my iPod and transfer them to someone else's Powerbook, There Photoshop files, and mine, so nothing illegal about this! My iPod has got Disk mode selected in iTunes, so if i connect it to the other mac, will i just be able to get the file's of the iPod and drop them on the other Mac's desktop, or will it open iTunes and wipe all my Music, Pics and Movies off my iPod and pair it up with the Mac?
    Thanks for any help!
    - Mike

Pretty much. When you cable the iPod to your friend's computer, it should mount on the desktop and allow you to use it as an external hard drive.
will it open iTunes and wipe all my Music, Pics and Movies off my iPod and pair it up with the Mac?
It may open up iTunes, but it certainly won't do anything to your iPod unless you tell it to. You will most likely get a dialog box indicating that your iPodis linked to another iTunes library and it will ask you if you want to replace the contents of your iPod with your friend's library. Make sure you answer NO to this question!

  • How do I resize a photo to attach it to someone else's web site

I want to add photo attachments to someone else's web site. my files are raw, off the camera i.e. big.  I can easily resize if I email. but why can't find an easy way to downsize in iPhoto?  what should I do?

The image you're viewing in iPhoto are jpeg versions of the RAW files.  So all you need to do is drag it to the desktop and you will get a jpeg file of around 2-3 MBs depending on the RAW file size.
Or you can export as leonieDF has suggested while setting the compression level (Quality) and maximum pixel dimension to get the image and file size you need.

  • I keep getting someone else's photos in my photo stream and can't delete them directly

    Hi !
I noticed lately that I keep getting pics of someone else in my photo stream. I thought maybe that someone hacked into my cloud so I disabled it and the share feature for photos. This isn't the first time this happens, I used to get pics from this person before and then it stopped. I also changed my ID and password just in case, but I still don't know where this is coming from. I'm afraid that they might have been getting some of my pics too :S

Just as an interesting follow-up, I contacted Apple's technical support line to try to inform them of this privacy violation (i.e. That I've received photos of some guy's kids on my phone) and was told that they couldn't help me because I didn't have tech support coverage.  I could, however, purchase said coverage for $60 or $70.  I explained that I wasn't having a technical issue with my phone, but rather there was a back-end issue.  I asked why I should pay to have them deal with a problem on their end, and a problem that is actually affecting someone else, since it's his photos that are getting broadcast.  The Apple tech couldn't supply an answer to that.  He did suggest that I change my password, though I can't imagine the issue is that some guy hacked my account so he could upload pictures of his family playing in the backyard or him attending a football game.

  • Someone else's picture on my Photostream

First time posting on here so be gently
I've just been looking through my photos on my AppleTV device and found that there is a photo on there that I didn't take (i.e. - Someone elses photo !!).
How is it possible that I have an image from someone else's stream and more importantly, does this mean that my photos could be floating around on someone else's ???
I've also checked on my Mac and the photo doesn't have any location information,  but has a time and date of Feb last year on a day that I was at work.
It's also quite clearly taken in another country and I haven't even been abroad in the past few years (Sad I know ).
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
    Cheers all

I don't have an answer, but a possibly related situation (pre-Photostream). Several years ago I was on a cruise and the ship had free wifi all over, including the cabins. I had my MacBook Pro with me, and one day the woman in the cabin next to mine told me that she had opened iPhoto on her own Mac and all my pictures were there. She didn't know what to do and was afraid to delete them, so she left them alone. Later they were gone. I never understood why this would happen.
Also, before I had Photostream, my iPad (I) had only one picture on it, and it was one that I had never seen before and that looked like it was taken in another country.
Could this picture be an Apple "Easter egg"?

  • Apple printed someone else's pictures in my book

Has anyone seen this happen? After carefully assemblying your book, and creating a pdf file to triple check it, Apple prints a book that mixes someone else's order with your own? This is what happened to me. My printed book starts with someone else's pictures and text, followed by the pictures I ordered... And not just that, but the picture pages stick together to the point where they rip when we turn the pages. What do you all think Apple should do about that?

I have been going at it with Apple now for over a month! I ordered a book and it came back with blank pages and with photos not scaled properly. I sent three emails via the iPhoto support page and received no replies. As you stated they promise a response within 48 hrs. Then some two weeks later they had the nerve to send me a survey thanking me for using the web support function and please rate "how we did!" You can only imagine how I responded. I next tried contacting a live person at Apple Care to help me out. I provided them my order number. They indicated that that was not a correct number. Turns out that Apple Care cannot track orders made through iPhoto! No one at Apple Care was even familiar with what an iPhoto book was. I then called Apple corporate hq's and spoke to a "customer care" rep. She assured me I would be contacted within 48 hrs (sound familiar) and my problem would be resolved. I heard nothing for over a week. Calls back to Ms. Graser of customer care were met by voice mail. Finally this week I recieved a canned response back from Apple. They noted that they would credit the charge back to my card. They also asked if I were interested in reordering my book and if so they would "assist" me. I replied that I was interested in trying to reorder the book. So what does Apple do? Without any further contact to find out why the book came back incomplete, they reorder the same %&*#'d up book and recharge my credit card for the full amount (including $15 for express shipping)!
If I were you I would contact my credit card company ASAP. Dispute the charge and they will remove it from your account. My card company did just that without any hesitation.
BUYER BEWARE! Apple provides no support or quality control for this product. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Good luck!

  • How can I import photos to my ipad from someone else's imac?

I have a mobile me account and can get to it with browser. I am on someone else's computer and have some pictures in their iPhoto that I want to move to my iPad. Is there some way to get them there when I do not have access to my iMac? Can I somehow move them to iDisk and synch them?

Photos can be transferred to an iPad via the iTunes sync process from a single computer only. When transferring photos from another computer via the iTunes sync process, all photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPad first.
There is a free iDisk app available for the iPad via the iTunes store. If you transfer the photos to your iDisk, you can access the photos from your iDisk with the iDisk app, but you can't sync photos with your iDisk.
There is also a free MobileMe Gallery app via the iTunes store you can use to view photos in your MobileMe Galleries.

have macbook pro with OS X yosemite 10.10.1 that i need step by step procedures to clean so I can give it to someone else, need help

Before you sell or give away your computer, in addition to the steps listed in this support article, take these steps:
    1. Run Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test. The buyer will do this (or he should), and you don't want to be surprised by the results.
    2. Reset the PRAM and the SMC, which might contain personal information.
    3. If you set a firmware password, remove it by running Firmware Password Utility in Recovery mode.
    4. If you activated FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, turn it off.
    5. If you use Boot Camp, the partition must be deleted.
    6. If you created any other data partitions on the internal drive, remove them in Disk Utility.
    7. If the machine has an internal hard drive, erase the one remaining data partition with the option to zero out data. An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
You can't legally or practically transfer any software downloaded from the Mac App Store to the new owner of the machine, even if it was free. That includes OS X, so if you upgraded to OS X 10.7 or later, you must reinstall an older OS, either from the installation media, if applicable, or by starting up in Internet Recovery mode (option-command-R at the startup chime.) If you installed from physical media, deliver those to the new owner.
If you're selling the machine, or donating it in working order, and it originally shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, then you have the option of installing either from the discs that came with it or from a retail Snow Leopard disc (which you must then transfer to the buyer.) The buyer should understand that if he doesn't get the original discs from you, he won't get the bundled iLife applications or the Apple Hardware Test. Replacements for the original discs can be ordered from Apple.
The new owner will have to redownload any software that came from the App Store, including OS X upgrades, under his or her Apple ID. If you ever updated the bundled iLife applications (Garage Band, iMovie, and iPhoto) through the App Store, you can't transfer those either. The buyer will have to purchase them.
Remove the machine from your list of registered products. If it's still covered by an AppleCare Protection Plan, transfer the coverage to the new owner by following the instructions in the AppleCare Terms and Conditions (under the heading "Transfer of Plan.")
