Someone Got A How To For Adding Video?
The examples cited in the Apple tutorials are for Macs from what I can find... and I see a ton of people posting on this topic and not getting answers... soooooooo...
I have a friend with a new 30GB video iPod...all the updates have been run for iTunes and the device. The video in question is an MP4, and iTunes reports it's in the correct format as it doesn't want to convert it. The video was made with Nero Recode. It's in the iTunes Videos library on the PC in Movies where it should be, but the Video options in the Preferences option are grayed out, as a number of others have reported when I do a forum search.
We all know this device will play back videos...and I know some people have had luck with Videora...but why should the device seemingly not accept a video it says is okay. Recode is way easier than nearly any other program I've seen, and has a ready H.264/AVC-AAC conversion that should make it ideal for the iPod.

If the video tab in preferences for the iPod is
greyed out, that usually means you are not
automatically updating. Try setting the iPod to
automatically update. Does that help?

Is it necessary to have to have Auto-Update enabled
just to add video? And if so, why? Isn't there a
manual way to add videos to the device as well? The
Apple How-To screens show a ready way to simply drag
and drop if you have a Mac, why not with a PC?
And actually...Nero Ultra 7, which I just tried, now
has a ready-made video profile just for iPod Video,
and especially with AVC, the results look very
promising.

Well...on this end anyway, enabling automatic updating did nothing to add videos to the device. I tried, and failed, and I cannot manually drag videos to the iPod as those who have Macs can... which is a major problem in the Windows software at this point. For users who want to use iTunes and have different playlists on their iPod than the PC, using the auto update feature appears to basically butcher that as well.
Again, I appreciate the suggestion...any others out there? These forums are just littered with people having this same issue, and I haven't seen any real "how-to's" from Apple, where they need to be coming from.
And to Apple, if the answer is to reboot, reset, and reinstall, etc., as I've seen on some of these forums, that's frankly the same pseudo "solution" AOL used to offer in the bad old days for all of their issues...and even AOL has managed to largely get past that debacle.

Someone could give you better and more exact information but you didn't include the model number of your computer. But I can give you a pretty generic answer. At the top of this webpage you should see Product Support. Click on Laptops and then select which model of Toshiba computer you own, ie Satellite, Tecra, etc. Finally type in the model number of your computer. Select the exact model number and click the red Go button to the right. Click the Downloads tab and look thru the different drivers for this computer. Make sure that the new video driver is newer and has a higher version number than your current video driver. If it does, click the Download button, click the Run button and let it do the installation. Afterwards, reboot the computer so that the latest drivers are fully installed. Try again with that game.

you have to install avs video converter and then well im not going to translate everything but it explains you all the settings to put to have a video for you ipod. after it was converted like the website says open itunes and then drop the conveerted file to itunes and it will work (well it did with me) -
Best practice for adding video
Hi. I've crafted a lovely app with multiple slideshows which was rejected for lack of interactivity. I'm now in the process of planning multiple short videos and audio files to add into it.
To test the video feature I used Handbrake to turn a video to a 330 x 178 resolution MP4 h.264. (I will probably make the final versions about 400 horizonta.)
I used the Place command and in the Content viewer preview it looks fine.
1) Using the Media panel you can choose the Poster be from a current frame but this does not add the Play symbol so app users might think it a static picture. Is my only option to do this is to make my own poster and add the Play symbol on top or is there an integrated way to do this?
2) My app pages have white backgrounds. Aesthetically is it 'wrong' to place the video directly on it. Should I just create a larger black rectangle for each video to give it a border or is there anything else to make it look professional?
3) The Media panel also has a Controller option which i presume allows you to set the video playback controls but anything I select doesn't seem to make a difference. I've also used Lynda but haven't found an explanation. What does it do?
4) I've viewed the My 9 months app made by forum MVP Bob Levine. When turning to a new page a button pops out with a mic. symbol that when pressed plays back audio. It looks pretty clever. If it's not a trade secret how do you make the button pop out?

to do. Open the video in Photoshop, go to the frame you want, add the
symbol and save as a PNG file.

3. If you really want to control the video I'd suggest creating buttons
and assigning video actions to them
4. Those are three state MSOs. The first state is an image sequence with
a go to next state button. The next state is the pop out glossary
containing a scrolling frame with anchored MP3 files positioned over the
terms. The close button takes you to a third state with a state version

someone lease help me with this. for the past two days i have been hitting my head for this !!
Glad they finally added a "Home Videos" tag, but wish that it was a compeltely separate category like Music, Movies, TV Shows. Still have all my home videos tagged as a "TV Show" with track numbers to keep them in order, disc number x of 12 to indicate the month, and season used to indicate the year. Has worked nicely for years but every new version of iTunes I hope (and have suggested) that they will separate this out.
A real way to maintain home movie metadata and organization would be much appreciated. Giving Home Videos as a tab within Movies is a start, but doesn't recognize the fact that these kinds of videos are completely different from "Movies." People scroll through or look for movies by name, home videos by date or event (more like iPhoto organizes things). Nobody wants to hunt for baby's first steps in a big alphabetical list somewhere between "The Avengers" and "Willy Wonka." -

Can Someone Tell Me How To Update My Video Driver?
Hey there!
I want to start out by saying I am in no way "tech-savey" so if you can help me out in any means, a step by step process, or a relaitively simple answer would be GREATLY appreciate! Currently, I am playing a video game on my laptop (T61 Thinkpad) and I am told BY the game that my video drivers are out of date.
I was told to try and update them at the manufactures website after looking through the site I am at a loss on what to do. If someone can supply me with the link to download the latest driver, or tell me what I am doing wrong I would REALLY appreciate it! Thanks sooooo much !

Mac Mini - best option for adding video streaming to existing HDTV setup?
Hello, new to the Forum but not to Macs - currently enjoying my 1yr old iMac, far cry from original 128k Mac I bought in 1984...
I am interested in adding streaming video capability to my home theatre setup, which consists of a Pioneer PRO-FHD1 50" (full 1080p) monitor, Rotel RSX1057 receiver driving 5.1 surround, and Samsung BD-P1200 BluRay DVD player that is not internet-capable. Options are: replace the Samsung with an internet-capable BluRay player, add an Apple TV, or go for a Mac Mini altogether. I am leaning towards the Mac Mini as I might as well have a full-fledged computer that does what I want, and a lot more. However in reading some of the posts here I see that some people are having all kinds of screen resolution and signal issues, others seem to have it sorted out. Any advice appreciated.Welcome to Discussions!
The mini as a media center is an excellent idea in general. You've already gathered that the most critical concern is the compatibility of your particular TV, although it isn't really as bad as it may seem here. Remember, judging based purely on the threads here is like making an assessment of the viability of the human race by looking at patients in hospitals.
If you can research a little to see if anyone has tried hooking your model of TV up to a mini already, you may find out if it should work smoothly or not. Once that matter is addressed, I can attest to the great results of using a mini as a media center. I Strongly suggest Plex as a great application to enhance the mini as a media center. -

The answer is you cannot, the skins are a requirement for the use of the flash player, and the right-click menu is there for the users security settings which you cannot override.
Your only other alternative is to use the html5 video, but then your videos would not play in IE<9.

Thank you,You can get your videos off your iPad, either syncing them off or uploading/downloading them. then you can use something like mpegstreamclip to pull out only a segment. (It's freeware, you can google it)
You open your video in mpegstreamclip then mark the in and out that you want to pull out, choose the format you want it to be and then let it do its thing. -

Can someone tell me how to fix this error in 10.4.11 on a G5 Quad Core 2.5GHz Tower...A valid video device could not be found for playback. [-70017]
That's an error reported from DVD Player I believe...
kDVDErrorMissingGraphicsDevice = -70017, // A valid graphics device is not available.
There's some conjecture it has to do with HDCP, or Video Card problems, but the only 2 cures/fixes I found were Software related, one was cured by updating the OS, another by replacing the Video kexts.
I think this error also shows up if trying to use DVD player in Safe Mode, (too much research isn't good! ).
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac.
