I need to get the serial number but need to know if there is a place in Itunes to get it without the device or the intital paperwork I recieved when I got it.

Maybe. Run an iTunes device connectivity test. Near the end of the report there should be a field indicating the last iPod that was synced with that particular iTunes library. It will include the serial # of the device. So if you have already synced another device since then, I'm afraid you are out of luck.

Remove the top copy of the shipping label affixed to the box. the top label is your receipt and should be saved for your records. The bottom copy of the label is a pre-printed return label to apple."
the top copy is the label used to reach me. the label below that is what seems like the receipt, it just notes S/N and that i'm not being charged anything. the label below that is stuck to the box and just says 'No Label"

How can I find out the serial number for my FCE 4.0 that came with my old MacBook Pro?

When I try and open my old FCE projects on my new MacBook Pro, a dialog box pops up and asks me to input the serial number for my Final Cut Express program. The software came pre-loaded on my old MacBook Pro which died. Luckily, my local Apple store was able to transfer the fcp files to my new MacBook Pro, which came with FCP X installed. I just can't open those files without the serial number of the FCE 4.0 program.

It is almost impossible to transfer FCE as there are so many essential hidden files that workers in an Apple Store will know nothing about. The app needs to be installed from the original DVD.
Other than buying another copy your only chance (very remote) is to contact the Apple Store and see if they are able to get a replacement number from Apple.

I've never heard of buying software as a download from Amazon. Why would you buy there instead of getting it directly from Adobe?
Was it by chance through a 3rd party seller, not Amazon themselves?

The serial number will be located in the box the device came in.
However, having the serial number will not help you lock it.
The only way to lock it would have been if you set up Find My iPad on iCloud.com and the iPad.
you could then go to iCloud.com and lock it from the "Find my iPhone" section of the website.

You should be able to copy iTunes purchases over to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. There is no serial number and you don't need one. What you need for a subscription is to SIGN IN within Acrobat, so it knows the subscriptions you own.

Quickest place to look is in the label attached to the box the phone came in.
Not around anymore? Maybe the carrier you used the phone with can facilitate the information. Also, when under contract, the IMEI is listed in the paperwork. Apple, alas, is quite unhelpful with that information.

Purchases from the App Store do not include serial numbers. The App Store itself provides the licensing for the product. You will have to contact Apple to have them help you reinstall Lightroom through the App store (just because it is no longer for sale does not mean that you will not be able to download your past purchases).
