Someone please help me restore my iPod!

I recently bought an I pod fifth-generation on Kijiji. When I got the iPod there was a passcode on it the old owner told me I could just hook it up to my computer and restore it. But when I got it home I restored it but it wanted the previous owners Apple ID. I tried to contact the man I got the iPod from but he would never get back to me. It's been about two weeks now and I still can't get into the iPod. Someone please help me did I get ripped off or is there a way to get around this? This is very frustrating I will never buy anything secondhand again!!!

Return for a refund. Otherwise turn into police since it would appear that the iPod was stolen or lost.

All error codes related to the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad with an error ending in 11 are hardware malfunctions, either do to a faulty cable, or a loose connection. Check the connections (between the iPod and the computer), as well as any tears in the cable.
You may need to use a newer cable, or get the iPod repaired. Drop by an Apple store and see if you can restore at one of their computers.

I've been searching the site for 2 days. I have a 40GB Ipod Click Wheel (non color screen). It was working fine the last time I used it and added music to it using iTunes for Windows. Now when I touch the wheel, I hear sounds as if the drive is trying to run but then stops and starts over. This continues as long as the screen is active. I've tried resetting with no luck. I've left it charging in an outlet overnight with no luck. I would like to restore it to the factory settings and start over, but I can't get iTunes to recognize it. Everything on this site I've read about restoring it states to do it from iTunes. If I can't see it in iTunes, how exactly am I supposed to do that?????

Then if the "stops and starts over" behavior stops, connect it to the computer and check if iTunes sees it, so you can run the Restore process.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer

The ipod is not a backup device. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases: Without syncing:File>transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

Ok, see, i was dowloading some songs off of http://www.youtube-mp3.org. I dragged the songs into my itunes library, but when i looked, they weren't in there. so i looked at my ipod and the songs i downloaded were on it! i dont know how either! i tried to back up my downloaded songs so i could restore it to see if that would help, but there wasn't an option for me to back up my ipod when i right clicked on it. i looked atsome of the other forums about the "AppData" solution. it said to delete the corrupted file if there was one, but i dont know what to look for. can someone please help me? this is driving me crazy.

After restoring to factory settings/new iPod you will then have to restore from backup
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

I would to a Restore. Select the iPod in iTunes. Go to the Summary tab for the iPod. There is a button there to do a Restore. This will erase the iPod, re-install its software, and set it to default settings. After Restore complete, try playing songs on the iPod again.
If THAT does not fix the problem, and it's not bad headphones (since you also tried the "speaker"), there is probably a hardware problem on the iPod. All 7th gen nanos are still under warranty. If you have an Apple Store nearby, you should take it to the store's Genius Bar. To minimize waiting, you can make a reservation on store's web page.

Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or conbtinue to show off-line.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.

- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police

My friend gave me his ipod touch because someone got a hold of it and put a password on it and then tried to guess it and he even asked the person what the password was but he wouldnt tell him so but then he just kept guessing and it kept going into lock down so he decided to restore it but he forgot about his computer crashing and he didnt have the orginal computer that it was setup on so he just gave up and he told me that i could have it and i've been trying to get it undisabled for about a month now.
The ipod touch is a 16gb 2nd generations if that info helps with anything.

I'm having a very similar problem. Let me clear this up and see if I'm right. Okay, so your friend gave you this itouch, and he put a pin on it. You didn't know the pin and after you entered it several times it locks for good. It asks you to connect it to the original computer, but it doesn't exist anymore, and when you connect it to your computer it says that you have to unlock the itouch before you can connect it to the computer, but at the same time it doesn't give you the keypad on the itouch anymore to unlock it. You, like me, have tried the 5 R's but can't restore it due to it not showing up on itunes when you connect it. I understand this isn't answering the question, I'm just clearing up what you said and adding parts you didn't because I am have the same exact problem.
