How many versions of Mavericks has there been? I have installed one. The only one I have ever seen. Then updated it twice. And never used Crapware like YASU or CleanMyMac or MacKeeper etc etc and have never had an issue. And i certainly would never recommend a program that even the developers say
"In the testing I’ve done using Yasu on Mavericks, it has performed well, so I believe it’s okay to use Yasu on Mac OS 10.9.x. Of course, I have to provide the disclaimer that I can’t guarantee 100% compatibility… If you decide to use Yasu on Mavericks, you’re doing it at your own risk."

You can force quit by holding the power button down for extended period.
During boot up hold down the Option key and choose your Macintosh HD OSX.
In >System Preferences> Startup Disk>choose your internal OSX System as Default.

hello, I update my mac pro to 10.10. Why the photoshop cs6 change to slowly now. When I change the tools like brush to command+Z, It's will be freeze a while. why? and how can I improve?

what a long post....Apple, btw, does not read this stuff, so ranting, raving, and complaining here might make you feel good, but it does no good at all. That being said, I, too have a Mac Pro Quad Core Xeon with 6 gigs of ram and an nVidia 8800 GT graphics card (not as good as yours, alas) and I've had no problems at all with it. Yes, it doesn't have Thunderbolt, but maybe we Mac pro owners will get lucky and someone will come out with an adapter (probably not). No, you probably don't have to throw away your Mac Pro, but if you do, I'll take it, for a small "recycling" fee >:-) That was a joke.  Yes, the Mac Pro's future isn't quite clear, YET. Hopefully that will improve very soon. As for not being able to upgrade to Mountain Lion. Don't worry about that too much, Nobody is forcing you to do that.  Your Mac Pro won't quit working if it isn't installed. From what  I've heard, you should give the new OS a chance, and wait to get it, in case there might be some bugs, or stuff not working with the new OS, which has been known to happen. Yes, we Mac Pro owners don't like being treated like mushrooms-kept in the dark, and being fed......... but Apple is Apple and it will do what it does, and there is nothing you or me can really do to change that. All I can say is....trust, have faith, be patient, go for a walk, do something else to take your mind off of this problem. IF apple decides to drop the Mac Pro for good, and that's a big "IF", I think they will anger a whole bunch of people
which isn't good. However, that hasn't happened...YET. Let us hope that it doesn't

I need help.  I need a KVM to switch between my Mac Pro and my IBM ThinkPad (docking station).
Best Buy (only local option) has only a VGA / USB from iogear that scroll lock doesn't work on the Mac and low and behold I'm a d.a. and didn't notice VGA, ie:  want/need DVI.
I don't game on my Mac or do high-end video editing but don't want to step down the video quality too much.
Appreciate all of the forthcoming advice.

I guess I should have clarified and said "can you please share what you've used and been successful with"
Two that I have been considering are:
    ConnectPRO
    http://www.connectpro.com/prod_kvm_usb12plusDvi.html
    IOGear
    http://www.iogear.com/solutions/kvm/?view=displayDVI
If you do the Belkin KVM wizard, as soon as you reference a Mac, they only support VGA and I am not sure why.  http://www.belkin.com/kvm/
    Thanks for the effort.

  • Can someone guide me to create a Mac Pro 8 core Edit suite

    Hay guys,
Totally new to Mac Pro, and not much of a techinical guy myself...
I need to know the right configuration for a Macp Pro + FCP editing set up that we can operate out of home. I will need it to edit stuff from anyone of these formats: Digibeta, HDV, HDCAM, DVCAM. Please suggest an affordable, yet robust system that will allow me to even complete a 90 minute independent feature film on this.
I am kinda clueless about the Capture Cards, and the SCSI drive concepts too...
    Please help:)
    It is kinda urgent pals

Well "affordable" is a subjective term, eh?
The thing is, you've got a big disparity in performance needs, based on the formats you've mentioned. For instance, the HDV and DVCam formats - you could simply buy one extra hard drive, install it inside the Mac Pro as a scratch disk, plug in the camera/deck involved and go to work. But once you start talking Digibeta - you're talking a large step up in performance. Then adding HDCAM to the arsenal demands even one more big step. So I'll just touch on this from a top-down viewpoint. (If a system can handle HDCAM, it'll handle everything beneath it.) Again, keeping in mind that "affordable" is a relative term.
For capture cards you may as well go to the top of the heap, the AJA Kona 3.
You're going to need a lot of storage. Fast storage! So something like a CalDigit HDOne or HDPro would be in order here. My shop uses MediaVaults for storage.
Then you're going to need some external monitoring gear. Powered audio monitors. A mixer (I like Mackie). And you have to determine how you're going to monitor your picture externally.
You're diving in deep here. I'd steer over to the Final Cut Pro forum here and do some research there. I'd do a search first because there's a lot of redundant info over there. Dear fellows are kind enough to answer the same queries over and over again. Bless them.
Anyway, hope this gets you started.

I am trying to download a video from youtube.?
I can see the video. I want to download it and save in my computer to see it again.
I have download helper. While the 3 red, blue, and yellow sphere are turning, It gives me the choice of place to save, and when I click and choose desktop , for example, this message comes ."Conversion requires an external application that appears to be missing on your system. Configure conversion ?
When I click on okay, another page comes, which says" converter and a box next to it . in the box is written FFMpeg. but I can change it to MEncoder. In another box, says configure conversion rules. When I click on it, nothing happen. Thanks for your help.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I want to download a video from youtube

No, this reply is not helpful. It simply generates this little gem:
"This service requires the conversion feature to be enabled.
    Configure conversion ?"
And the same clicking on buttons that makes nothing happen and going around in circles with the escape key.

  • Updating to Mac Pro - do I still need a soundcard?

I'm updating my old G4 Powermac to a Mac Pro. As a front end I have a Focusrite ISA 428 with the optional ADC which gives 8 digital outputs.
Do I still need my old MOTU 2408 (Motu will sell me a PCI-424x adaptor to fit the Mac Pro) when I can lightpipe straight into the Mac Pro optical ins from the optical out of the Focusrite?
I guess I'm wondering whether I need a soundcard at all?

    Not being funny!
But you're post does sound funny!
At first i though you were asking a Question <Updating to Mac Pro - do I still need a soundcard? >
Awaiting to answer, it later reads
<Do I still need my old MOTU 2408 (Motu will sell me a PCI-424x adaptor to fit the Mac Pro) when I can lightpipe straight into the Mac Pro optical ins from the optical out of the Focusrite?>
    Then you gave you're answer
Then i realy seems to now conclude, are you talking to yourself, Eg. asking a Question, then Quickly answer ing it.

  • Mac Pro and Mac OS Update 10.5.2 Conflict!

I have re-installed Leopard three time already because of a conflict with my Mac Pro and apple's combined OS update for 10.5.2. After installing the update, my computer becomes unstable and eventually stops starting up properly, forcing me to partition and format the drive for a clean installation.
As a result, I am staying away from 10.5.2 and hope that future OS updates do not include such problems.
Just posting to warn others and see if anyone else had this problem. Take care!

I can't tell you have many times I've installed 10.5.2, except to say never had a problem but almost any type of conflict could occur with 3rd party hardware, software, AFP, routers or whatnot.
I would subscribe to checking news sites daily as they have collect reports, offer tips based on feedback, and see if any of it fits your situation (or "can of worms" I guess).
MacIntouch, MacFixit, Xlr8yourmac.com all have article.
Forums such as Mac OS X Leopard on Apple tend to have a number of threads, but the majority do seem to escape unscathed. So seems like every time you try, you do the same thing, get the same results. Adjust your game plan.

I bought a new Mac Pro and migrated my FCP from my old one. But the new old won't accept my product serial number. Help!

Was the FCS on your old machine an upgrade? You will need to enter your original, full version serial first, and then you will be prompted for the upgrade serial number.
    Hope this helps.

? have updated my mac pro to os mavericks but now my mouse doesn't function like before. Any suggestions pls?

My magic track pad works fine, the magic mouse cursor stayed in the central part of the screen and would only move up and down on a slight diagonal.  I went into system preferences/mouse/more gestures and disabled all swipes.  Problem solved.

  • After software update, my Mac Pro 13 has grey screen, spinning but won't re-boot

After update my Mac Pro 13 will not reboot. Grey screen, spinning icon but nothing I tried works.

If your computer is stuck restarting, hold the Power button to turn off your MacBook Pro and turn it on again. As the installation finished previously, nothing will get damaged
