I have Lightroom 4 installed. I cannot download my CR2 files from the Canon 5D Mark III camera. I have downloaded Lightroom 5 thinking it was an update but it appears I have to pay for the program. Any ideas how I can get lightroom 4 to accept my CR2 files ?
The Canon 5D Mk 111 was supported from LR 4.1, see the link below. Just update LR to the latest version. See link below

My installation of Itunes to syne my iphone with PC was missing AppleApplicationSupport.msi after 2 installs how can I install such a file do you have a path for this
Hi kensb!
I would recommend that you attempt to reinstall all of the programs and components of iTunes on your machine and reinstall everything again. It can be tricky to get everything uninstalled, so we have an article that can help you make sure you uninstall everything:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
Specifically, when it comes to uninstalling, you will want to uninstall applications in this order:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then, restart your computer.
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended effects.
You will then want to follow the links in those articles to download the latest package of iTunes software for your computer and install again from there. Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!

WAV file or MP3 what is better for field recording?
Hello All,
I was thinking about getting a new digital recorder to record wild sound and
dialog for a short film. The recorder can only record in a WAV file or MP3 format.
Is that going to get the job done, or will the compression be bad for the quality of the sound?
The unit in question is a Zoom H4 which has XLR inputs, recording level meter, stereo and 4 track recording, and can down load to Mac
Your thoughts?
thanks,
MikeStay away from the m-audio 24/96. It is very finiky at best and doen't work at all on a regular basis. I have one and have tried to use it on special occasions when I really needed it and it failed.
No going back...so now I am looking for something that will do the job. I thought the big Ipod (60gb) would do but don't seem to be getting any help as of yet from these discussions.

How to convert an excel file where customers have partial access for selecting items.
Please Advise,
I have created an excel file with columns that calculates price and quantity. I need to know how my customers can access the file without seeing all my calculations, etc. and just select the number of items. I need to keep my excel formula info confidential and at the same time having the customers the ability to select the items.
This excel file will be placed on my web site and linked where customers have access to it. They make their selections and emailed back for processing.with their selected items. If the excel file is converted into a pdf file, Then placed and linked for customer access how can customers have partial access and select in certain columns and have excel fuction for calculations?
Thanks,

The export control on my QuickTime Pro 7.6.9 no longer allows me to export mov audio files as wav. I have a user license number. Should I unintall and re-install? Will I be able to quote my current license number to avoid having to pay again? Help!
The export control on my QuickTime Pro 7.6.9 no longer allows me to export mov audio files as wav.
Are you saying the option is missing or that it is grayed out? If grayed out, what is the audio compression format used in the MOV file container? -
I have Lightroom 4 and a new 70D camera and when I try to important my photos Lightroom says it doesn't recognize my CR2 files. Can someone help? I have downloaded 8.3 from Adobe, but still doesn't work?
Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. All of the Camera Raw technology is part of the Lightroom program. You will either have to upgrade to Lightroom 5 or use the DNG converter to create digital negative copies that can be used with Lightroom 4.

Please will someone help me out
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc. Use this to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy (not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases -
[Help]Playing MP3 files with Juk have to wait for 1 hr to hear voice
I am not sure how long should wait, but difinately longer than 10min. If you are playing a playlist, you have to wait a long time for next song...
Observations:
1. You can hear voice after all, that means the hardware and codec is working properly.
2. You can play the mp3 file with smplayer without difficulty. that means the filesystem/storage hardware should'nt be problematic.
3. When waiting for playing songs, the CPU usage of Juk is remaining on about 3%. I believe it is a reasonable value and does not indicating any problem of the program.
Have anybody here got this problem before? Help!in case your phonon backend is gstreamer, change it to xine. that's what is recommended by amarok devs.

How do i view thumbnails or .mp4 files in my windows folders? for quicktime
i noticed since switching my cameras i used to be able to view thumbnail pictures of my movies.
my new computer uses .mp4 files for HD movies so now my files only show .mp4 icon instead of a thumbnail for the video.
anyways to fix this?According to Adobe's supported-camera list, you need at least ACR 8.1, so 7.4 is too old:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
According to Adobe's Camera Raw list, Elements 11 only works up to ACR 8.0:
Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
So you have to buy PSE12 or use the free DNG Converter to convert the ORFs to DNGs that will then have enough information in them to open in your older Elements version. You can download the latest DNG Converter near the top of this page:
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
If you need an older version due to your OS being too old, then you can download older versions from the DNG Converter section further down the page but make sure you use at least DNG Converter 8.1. -
How do I calculate the size of files that I have UNC paths for
I am on SQL Server 2008 R2. I have a table that contains a field called [Location]. In that field is a UNC path to the physical file on the repository. Is there a way in SQL Server that I can say give me the select sum([Location] UNC file) where criteria?
I saw some posts about xp_filesize or xp_GetFileDetails, but I do not see them in master. I am unable to add anything and wondering if there is any native functionality that would allow me to accomplish this!? Thanks.Maybe you can use an Excel Macro for this kind of thing.

My goal is to only sync my calendar to iCloud and exclude everything else. This way I don't have to pay for more space.
Hey Murphie,
I don't pay for more space and I'm backing up two devices to iCloud, a 32G ipad and a 16G phone.
However, you can merely chose NOT to backup to iCloud. Then you won't run out of space. Items synced to iCloud do not take up your backup space.
Now, you WILL have to back up to your computer via iTunes the old fashioned way, or risk losing valuable data. Your choice.
However, if you manage your data responsibility, you won't run out of your 5G of storage on your iCloud backup from normal use.
Good luck
