Someone/Something has access and is controling my mouse

I first noticed the issue while using iTunes 2/6/2011. The mouse would start or stop music and even adjust volume. I disregarded this initially thinking it was a software glitch. On Tuesday 2/7/2011 however I truly noticed the issue. I was watching a video and it suddenly stopped about 30 minutes in with the mouse curser clicking on the play/stop button in QuickTime. I immediately turned my airport off thinking someone had accessed my system with a log me in client.
I continued to watch the video. The same process repeated itself , however this time the mouse clicked the stop button and then scrolled over and clicked the fast forwarded button with the airport OFF.
At this point I unplugged my router...
I then checked my system settings...
    Sharing... Nothing was checked, including screen sharing....
    Accounts... There is only my account and guest. I looked at the guest account and a client that had access said..."iTunes helper" I deleted its access.
    Firewall... My firewall was off (not sure why). I turned it on and am currently blocking all incoming connections.
Server...
    I changed my routers name and password....
OS...
    Preformed a system update
    changed my account password
After I completed the above changes... I spent a few hours changing passwords and usernames on financial accounts (even signed up for lifelock).
A few questions here.
    Is there any virus' that are capable of performing these tasks on what seems to be media applications only? I could not find any strange software that's been added within the last few months however.
    Is it possible for someone to accessed my system if my airport is off?
    I can check last modified date for files... is there a way to check last accessed date on personal/finance files?
Any other measures I should take to protect myself?

It's not a virus, that's for sure.
One possibility, since it was doing things like starting and stopping music and videos and changing volume is that you have some kind of remote control that was being activated. I recently had a similar experience (though without the mouse movement), where iTunes kept opening and playing/pausing music, and the system volume kept going up and down. Despite my knowledge that it couldn't possibly be a hacker, it freaked me out a little bit. In the end, after almost half an hour of fighting with it and trying all kinds of complex solutions to no avail, I noticed that my 2-year-old was playing with my Apple remote, which my wife had given him!
That doesn't explain your situation, since the Apple remote doesn't control the mouse, but perhaps you have some sort of remote app installed or something along those lines?

1. Yes. You can install Windows 7 natively using Boot Camp Assistant or you can install Windows 7 in a virtual machine using Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox
2. If installed using Boot Camp Assistant Windows 7 uses all your computer's resources just as OSx does. If installed using a VM Windows 7 will share the computer's resources with OSx.
3. A Boot Camp partition is separate from the OSx partition. The VMs allow sharing of files across partitions since both OS are running at the same time.
4. No, not 100%.
5. Too broad a question. Be specific about what feature you are asking about or search the Internet for comparisons. I use both and find they both work well.

Hi Bob, I just tried your suggestion, but the interactive PDF is in spreads by default, no way to change the setting. When I choose to view by single page in Acrobat, it displays a single spread.
When I choose to view by spreads, it displays 4 pages, two spreads. That's the topic of this whole discussion, I believe. I do own CS 6 at home, however my employer supplied me with CS 5.5. And I have very little, if any, influence on purchasing.
So, I have no good way to make an interactive PDF (with differing recto/verso headers and footers), that is accessible and shows the correct header/footer. It's either single pages (with one header/footer), or recto/verso headers/footers but PDF only as a spread, as well as I can tell.
Unless you know something else I can do...

Im writing this out for a second time because I lost the first one. Long story short I have a friend who knows loadsof my passwords including skype, I am cool with it and I dont really want to change them. But I am kind of paranoid about them accessing my messages like skype and email and facebook and wanted to know if skype tells you if someone else has logged into your account from a different IP or something or if someone is logged in at the same time as you on another computer and sending messages and stuff. Like Facebook tells you when you log in if someone has been on your account from another ip address.

To check if your Skype account is signed on simultaneously on another device (where, not who is using your account), type this chat command in any open instant message chat:
/showplaces
Lists other instances where this Skype name is currently signed in.
To force a sign-out, type this chat command:
/remotelogout
Sign out all other instances except the current one. This will also stop push notifications on all other instances.
From a safety and security standpoint, I would strongly recommend you reconsider allowing anyone to have a list of your account passwords. I recommend you start changing all of them, and the sooner, the better.

I have been using Firefox for over 10 years with minimal problems, but recently (within the past 2 months) something has changed and I cannot get any sound to play, even on previous web sites that did work. I'll just have to go back to IE!

Thanks to some hints in several strings, I went back to the Control Panel in XP, clicked on Sounds and Devices, clicked on Audio, then changed the default device to the Realtek HD Audio output I have on my computer. Now I can hear You Tube video sound and other Internet audio fine, at least for now. I will come back if it stops again. Thanks to all who posted.

For no apparent reason the top tool bar line has dissappeared and if i place mouse over the top of page, FireFox will come up but not "File" and now cannot find "Prinit". "History", etc. Help???

The tool bar line has suddenly disappeared and cannot print or check history. Also, bottom tool bar has disappeared so cannot see clock, shift to other programs.
Only happens with FireFox. If I access any www site via FireFox, same problem. I have re-booted several times, same problem.

I have been trying to setup a Desktop Admin so that the group has full and total control over all desktops. I am using SCCM 2012 SP1. I have found very little documentation that explains in detail on how to set this up. I have read about role based access,
but found nothing that explains in detail how to setup an administrator that can do everything but only with desktop machines, not servers.

Great link John, thank you for that. I did follow the instructions to a "T", but the Desktop Admin is still having problems. He is trying to image a new machine (so it is not in the collection yet). When he tries to import it by using the "Import
Computer Information Wizard", he gets to the "Choose Target Collection" tab, selects the "Browse" button, but cannot see any collections. I have verified (using the instructions that Matthew provided - thank you) that he is a "Full Administrator" for
the Desktop collections and folders where they are located.
Could you please tell me what I am missing?

In general theory, one now has the Edit button for their posts, until someone/anyone Replies to it. I've had Edit available for weeks, as opposed to the old forum's ~ 30 mins.
That, however, is in theory. I've posted, and immediately seen something that needed editing, only to find NO Replies, yet the Edit button is no longer available, only seconds later. Still, in that same thread, I'd have the Edit button from older posts, to which there had also been no Replies even after several days/weeks. Found one that had to be over a month old, and Edit was still there.
Do not know the why/how of this behavior. At first, I thought that maybe there WAS a Reply, that "ate" my Edit button, but had not Refreshed on my screen. Refresh still showed no Replies, just no Edit either. In those cases, I just Reply and mention the [Edit].
Also, it seems that the buttons get very scrambled at times, and Refresh does not always clear that up. I end up clicking where I "think" the right button should be and hope for the best. Seems that when the buttons do bunch up they can appear at random around the page, often three atop one another, and maybe one way the heck out in left-field.
While I'm on a role, it would be nice to be able to switch between Flattened and Threaded Views on the fly. Each has a use, and having to go to Options and then come back down to the thread is a very slow process. Jive is probably incapable of this, but I can dream.

It seems you have gone to great lengths to improve accessibility in many areas of the iPad. Why was this obvious problem with icon text size missed? (It's not with the Mac.). And for so long too.
Do you employ people with actual accessibility problems to help you do UI design?
I think too, that some buttons are too close for people who might have motor control problems.
I love my iPad but I fear as I age, the iPad might not keep up with me.

Tell them that accessing someone else's personal account without permission is illegal and if they do it again, you'll have no choice but to take legal action.

There are two ways to reset an iPhone, 1) the user actually using the iphone can perform a reset from Settings, and 2) a user to knows the iphone's iCloud ID and password and do a remote reset.
I'm assuming you didn't personally reset it while on the iPhone, so my question is ... does anyone else know your iCloud ID and password? Have you set up multiple devices (perhaps belonging to other members of your family - something you generally shouldn't do, if you don't want to sync the same data to all devices in the family) and used the same iCloud ID on all of them? Perhaps a family member or a "friend" of a member used Find My iPhone to locate yours and remote wiped it.

Are you sure they say the password has been changed or that *if* you want to change it, then go to a web site and do it there. If the latter, just ignore the email. If the former (and I'm assuming the email is regarding a changed password, but it could mean the security questions have been changed), then using a computer's browser, try logging into icloud.com. If you can do that using the old password, then it's not clear what the email means.
