There is no tracker application bundled with an iPod (nor iPhone nor iPad). Apple offers an app in the iTunes Store that allows an iOS device on which the "Find My..." service has been set up to be tracked from another iOS device (the app goes on the device doing the tracking). But the service has to have been set up on the device you want to track before it was stolen.

Go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and setting. Then re-setup the iPod with your account/media. To redownload iTunes purchases see:

Yes, you can use your iPhone 4 with it, but I don't recommend using it with the dock connector as it wasn't designed for the iPhone 4 and you may have unexpected results.
I recommend using it with the auxilliary jack on the back of the unit. That's how I use mine and it works great to this very day. The iPod-Hifi is still an amazing and great sounding unit and they're incredibly rare to find now of days. I saw one on sale at Amazon.com for $999 haha!

You need to delete the music you got from your friend. You fried does not have the licence/right to give you a copy of it.
I would restore the iPod from a backup on your computer and sync your own media to the iPod.

The only way you can get a valid estimate is by someone examining the MBP directly. Since no one on these forums can see or examine your MBP, you will need to get this infomation from a qualified repair shop. It seems that you already have secured one estimate. You can also bring the MBP to an Apple store and have a genius bar examine it for FREE.

Log in on iCloud.com and go to Mail. In Mail, at the bottom left you should see a gear icon. Click on it, go to Settings (or Preferences, I'm doing this from memory), and in there you'll find an option to forward your iCloud email to another service.
