See, at school stupidly I keep it in my backpack. In my classroom, I left my backpack alone, and then well.... See I then was sort of rushed out of my class afterwards, because I had to finish some work. So lets get to the main point. Afterschool, I want to listen to my ipod ( By the way I always had my Ipod in my backpack before ). So I am on the ground getting my ipod out. I can't find it! My friend's mom kept calling my name, trying to say hi and I was devestated and I was stuck in place. Then, I rushed to our school cop and told him everything. Well now, here's the main point. I can't seem to find my serial number. I know there is a way to find it on Itunes, and no I do not have the receipt or the packaging it came in. So am I screwed? There should be some way. Oh and yes I have purchased stuff in the app store with my ipod, so wouldn't it be easy to track?
I have two Ipods. Don't just say, "Oh this person has two ipods why is she whining of losing one?" Because I had personal information on my Ipod... Sort of used the notes as a diary....
But anyways, any help would be thankful! I mayhap even lost a friend for cancelling plans on her too.. So I need to get my Ipod back.... For sure.

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod. If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number). If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief. All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself. This requires action before the device is lost/stolen. If the device has significant personal information, it should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

Hi I really need answers, Someone stole my iPod Touch 4th at a store. I tried using Find my iPhone and I've refreshed it over and over again and it says it's offline. Does my warranty cover this? Also if I report it to the police how will I find it if it is not connected to the Internet? Or does my iPod have a certain number that either if the person deleted all of my data I can still find it? Please answer, I only had that iPod, I can't buy another one!

Unless you turned on Find My under Settings > iCloud there is nothing more that anyone here or at Apple can do to help.
Report the theft to the police, change all passwords associated with accounts on the iPod.

- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.

- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

Have you double checked to make sure it hasn't been moved to a different page or folder? Double check your iPod's Restrictions as well to make sure it hasn't been disabled. To do this, head to Settings -> General -> Restrictions.
Default Apps that came with your iPod or Apple's iOS cannot be removed.

Apple does not replace stolen items, (is there a company that does replace their stolen products?) you would have to purchase a replacement. It may be covered under homeowners insurance but the deductible would probably not make it worth pursuing.

If you set up the Find My iPod service prior to the iPod going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the iPod is turned on, connected to a WiFi network, and has not had the Find My iPod service disabled). If you did not set up Find My iPod, then there is no way to track it.
Contact the police and give them any location information you get from Find My iPhone if you set it up and it returns a location. You should also immediately change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPod (the iTunes Store, for instance).
