Someone with Mac knowledge please enlighten me !
Hello, I have a 2012 MacBook Pro 15". Well, it all started when I spilt coffee on the keyboard and watched my computer crash in front of me. With that said I opened it up and let it sit for about 2 weeks, then went at it with a q-tip and took everything out that was relitively easy. ie the battery. After that my computer ran fine for a long time ( almost a year ) and now, after messing around with some partitioning and some VmWare Fusion with Windows 7 I am running into odd and scary behaviour. First it started with my computer giving me the good o'l 3 beep hardware warning when trying to turn it on. When I got home I called apple support and was given instructions and advice to reinstall the OSX. So, when I command + option + R'd the startup and tried to reinstall the OSX I got an error message telling me that that OSX was damaged and could not be used. So, being the responsible student I went into my many back ups from time machine on my external 1 TB hard drive and restored it to a 10.7.4 operating system. Then upped it to 10.8.5. Yesterday I thought I had it beat with my non-partitioned hard drive so I went ahead and partitioned about 100 GB as Dos-Fat for Bootcamp ( Come to find out 10.8.5 has Bootcamp issues ) and then deleted the partition and re-merged the whole computer together. Now, before I started working on it I made sure I did one more Back up. Today in class, after moving it from my apt. to school in my laptop bag, I opened it and the desktop popped up before my login screen and it got all horizontaly shaky and then shut down. Like it has done after completely freezing. It seems to only have problems when I move it or if it sits for long long periods of time. Can anyone at least just tell me what's going on ?

Liquid damage can take some time to show consequences of corrosion problems.
Bootcamp assistant will do the partition for you, for further reference.
Apple Hardware Test is not definitive by any means, an especially not good at showing intermittent problems.
I think your best bet is to take it in an get a free assessment for repair. Accidental liquid damage is not covered by the standard warranty.

Old G4 Mac external speakers don't work with Mac Pro - Please Help

Need someone with Apple knowledge!!
Just been to the Apple Store in Stratford, London to get my iphone 5 replaced as the sleep wake button stopped responding. I was in and out and i was done. The member of staff who served me seemed very rushed and i didn't have his full attention so when we were going through the process it was a bit more unpleasant than usual.
My concern is, when he asked me to erase my phone, i by mistake erased all my settings, rather than erasing all my content and data and due to his rushed manor i didn't get a chance to double check, then my old phone was in a box and under the counter.
I didn't realise this had happened till i was on my way home, can anyone tell me that my phones content will be erased? as i dont particulirly want some apple repair guys prank calling all mny contacts, if anyone could reasure me with this, that would be great and put my mind at rest.
I did try and erasing it through find my iphone app but of course the sim card needed to be in the phone for it to connect to the internet.

If you enabled "Find my iPhone" in Settings, go to iCloud.com on a computer and you can erase it remotely.
Other than that, you will have to rely upon the Apple employees to have something better to do with their time than to use a customer's phone to make prank calls to the Vatican. It may have been fun for Steve Wozniak to do that, but today such a stunt will just get an Apple employee fired from his highly coveted job.
Your iPhone will be sent to a factory where it will either be completely erased as part of its refurbishment process, or destroyed and properly disposed of. -
Help needed with Mac Mini please
I have just noticed the start up "dong" has stopped working and I believe this could indicate some problems somewhere, but how (without going to a "genius bar", would I go about finding out the problems?
I know it has a faulty cd/dvd drive as it no longer burns cd's or even play dvd's (going to be fun when Snow Leopard is released :/ )
Any advice of any programs I could run etc to try and solve these issues if possible please, and I can not format the drive do to the dvd not working.

Can someone with Photoshop CS5 please confirm they have this bug.
Open a jpeg file so there is just a background layer in the Photoshop document. Then in the Actions Palette load the Adobe action set "Image Effects" and run the action last action in the set "Fluorescent Chalk" on my Windows 32 bit machine if fails in step "Hide current layer" it generates a Photoshop pop-up message "Hide" is not currently available "Continue" or "Stop". If I hit continue I loose the layer that the actions was trying to protect by hiding it. I loose the layer because it did not hide and was merged in the last step "Merge Visible". In previous versions of Photoshop the action worked because you could hide the background layer when it was the only layer in a document in Photoshop CS5 on my machine this is not possible.

Neon Edges absolutely does NOT work on a flat document in Photoshop CS3.
The terminology I'm using:
"flat" = just a background - no layers.
"work" = completes without error and creates a result that looks even vaguely like neon edges.

Open your Displays system preferences. Is there an Arrangement tab and does it show two screens? If no Arrangement tab then your mac does not know it has two screens. Maybe smc and pram reset will shake it free and maybe not. Maybe there's something wrong with the connection. Thunderbolt plugs are similar to mini-displayport plugs so make sure the plug is pushed firmly in so that essentially all the metal part disappears inside the socket. The plugs can be a little tricky in that you need to make sure the plug is fully seated in their socket.

Please help me! I'm trying to draw a blending sphere but I found out that I have to know lots of mathematics to do it.. so I just found the code in the internet :P .. but.. I analysed it and kinda understood it except this line:

I find that if all of my boxen run a particular distro, and that distro has a problem, it sucks to have that problem on all of my boxen. In this room I'm sitting in, I have 4 different distros installed. I'm typing this on my arch box, beside me is my testing box with Frugalware -current on it (in a semi-broken state), to my other side I have a debian etch soekris box, and my wife's lappy has kubuntu edgy on it.
That said, I'm going to be installing edgy on my own lappy today. Currently I'm running arch on it, and while I love arch, this computer is at least partially for work, and I've ended up with egg on my chin twice recently due to packages I didn't have installed that I would expect to have installed - telnet, traceroute, that sort of thing, and for some reason my keyspan usb serial adapter did not work as expected either. I take all of the blame for this, of course, but the reality of the situation for me is that my lappy needs to work without hassle. This is the decision I've had to make.
Almost all of my decisions are made this way - weigh the benefits versus the drawbacks. I'd say frugal is a fantastic distro, but running current is very difficult to do without breakage. I'd also say that their wiki, forums and mailing lists are nearly dead, so if that's important to you it's a consideration. I imagine asking this question in an arch forum is going to result in a lot of pro-arch answers, and for good reason - arch is a damn fine distro. It might not be the most objective input, though. -
I am using an old ibook G4 ppc with mac os x 10.4.11. A day before by default I delete one file and I think it was the startup file of os because after that when I restarted my notebook it's not running the OS only that blue screen is there. This notebook was a gift for me and still it is so close to my heart. I don't wana loose it. Please, help me out.

I have an iMac 5.1 with Mac OSX 10.6.8 and 2 GB memory and an L2 cache of 4 GB. lately I have been receiving error messages of " start up disk almost full; please delete files." is the start up disk the same thing as the hard drive? I opened the hard drive and from the column on the left of the menu I've selected "search for" and under that " all images" then "all documents" I've deleted a few files from each. Are documents and images that I have deleted from here also deleted from the folders on my desktop?
You should never, EVER let a conputer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Delete any other mail in your Junk folders. Also, look through your Sent Mail to see if there is anything that can be deleted.
Other things you can do to gain space.
Once you have around 15 GBs regained, do a search, download and install OmniDisk Sweeper.
This app will help you locate files that you can move/archive and/or delete from your system.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.

First , I have been with Mac for many years ( 14 to be exact ) I do have some knowledge and understanding of Apple product .
At the present time I'm having lots of problems with the router so I was looking in to some info , and come across one web site regarding : port forwarding , IP addresses .
In my frustration , amongst lots of open web pages tutorials and other useless information , I come across innocent looking link and software to installed called Genieo , which suppose to help with any router .
Software ask for permission to install , and about 30 % in , my instinct was telling me , there is something not right . I stop installation . Delete everything , look for any
trace in Spotlight , Library . Nothing could be find .
Now , every time I open Safari , Firefox or Chrome , it will open in my home page , but when I start looking for something in steed of Google page , there is
''search.genieo.com'' page acting like a Google . I try again to get raid of this but I can not find solution .
With more research , again using genieo.com search eng. there is lots of articles and warnings . From that I learn do not use uninstall software , because doing this will install more things where it come from.
I do have AppleCare support but its to late to phone them , so maybe there some people with knowledge , how to get this of my computer

Your advice did not help me. I also installed 10.7.4 combo but the situation is the same.
my internet connection is ok, mail is ok, but app store after 3 resets does not recognize my ID and it says "connection is not possible". Why?
