Something called Data Execution Prevention shuts Reader down when I try to print.

I've had this problem with Reader X & Reader 9. I'm running Vista oc and whenever I try print a pdf a message comes up that says Adobe Reader has stoped working correctly and is being shut down by windows. Then another message appears saying that Adobe Reader was shut down by Data Execution Prevention in order to protect the computer from damage. I tried to remove Adobe Reader from the list of programs turned on for DEP and got a message stating that Adobe Reader has to run with DEP and DEP cannot be turned off for it. Anyone know how to work around this?

I have the same issue with Adobe Reader X and Windows Vista Home Premium.
Could someone please post information on this issue??

Try updating your QuickTime to the most recent version. Does that clear up the DEP errors in iTunes?

  • Safari shuts down when i try to print

anyone know how to fix safari, it shuts down with no explanation when i try to print

There are experienced and helpful people here who run Safari under Windows. Be patient--this isn't chat and Monday mornings tend to keep people busy with work.
Allow me to offer a suggestion that might help you get noticed by the right contributors: Before 15 April 2011, there were separate forums for the Mac and Windows versions of Safari. The new forum software unfortunately lumped a lot of stuff together. So....
...were I using Safari for Windows, I would insert "Windows" in every title I posted here so those people most experienced with it can see your post at a glance, rather than having to open the hundreds of new posts every day to find the 20-40 that are about Safari for Windows.
For this thread, the title could look somthing like this:

    or
safari for Windows shuts down when i try to print
    Hope this helps,

  • Pages shuts down when I try to print since i upgraded to Mavericks

I upgraded last week, now when I try to print out of Pages, Keynote, Safari, the programs shut down. I'm printing over a network to a Konica Bizhub C203. All other programs print no problem, its only the 3 mac ones that will not print. Anyone else having this issue? Any known fixes?

There are several bizhub threads here. See the "More Like This" sidebar to the right.

  • Adobe X Closes Down when I try to Print

We use Adobe X version 10.0.1. When we try to print or go edit - preferences the document just closes. Has anyone seen this before?

    Hi Ankit
    Thanks for the reply.
    1. Yes we are in a citrix envirnment, also using Appsense if that's of any use?
    2. We can't get into neither print or preferences
    3. We've just installed in now with other updates and now testing thank you
"I've noticed that on the users and the terminals setting under edit-preferences when it's working the protection is ticked."
Sorry that doesn't sound clear to me either when reading it back to myself. In the prefernces when we initially reinstall it and it temperarily works the box for Protection is ticked on ther terminal server, and for a user when they log under there profile and look in preferences. It's only when the terminal server is rebooted that Abode messes up again and we have to re install.
I've just read that installing 10.1.3 has helped someone one so i'll also try that now
    Thank you

  • Data Execution Prevention shutting down iTunes even with exception added

Well, was having this problem, it miraculously fixed itself for like a day but now it is happening again. Data Exectuion Prevention for Windows keeps shutting down iTunes. I have gone into the DEP settings and added an exception for it to not apply to iTunes but it is still happening every time I open iTunes. Today I downloaded and installed the new version of iTunes, hoping that would make a difference, but it is still happening. Also, since I installed that version about an hour ago, iTunes keeps opening itself without me telling it to--every five minutes I see it opening without me doing anything and then immediately being closed by DEP. I am getting very frustrated. Thanks in advance for any help.

I had the same issue after my recent update of iTunes.  I didn't update Quicktime 'cuz I don't use it much (or at all).  On another thread discussing the same issue, I saw that the Quicktime installation can affect iTunes.  So I downloaded the latest Quicktime, installed, redooted - issue fixed (for now).

  • Appleworks shuts down when I try to print a WP document.

I recently upgraded my iMac to Tiger, along with upgrading Appleworks. Everything worked fine for a couple of weeks, but today when I tried to print a word-processing document, Appleworks shut down. The printer is an HP 7150. and I have downloaded the new drivers for that. I'm kind of at my wit's end.
    Anybody have any ideas?
    IMAC   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

It depends on what you upgraded from. Open the text
document and copy the contents. Open a new, blank,
text file and paste the contents into this new
document. Now print. I'll bet it works. If it does
save this new document with a new name.
AW saves a bit of the printer information and
formatting at the top and bottom of each document.
You don't see it in AW but you do if you open an AW
document in TextEdit. For whatever reason, sometimes
    this extra data causes troubles.
This same copy from old/paste into new trick usually
works with other AW documents that suddenly misbehave.
sorry - didn't work. Got it to print a couple of times by opening it with OS 9
    then that stopped too.

  • Apps shutting down when I try to print

Installed 10.4.11 about 2 weeks ago. All seemed to be fine. Suddenly, whenever I try to print, from any app (text edit, Word, Preview, etc), I get a few seconds of the spinning ball, and then the app crashes with a 'shut down unexpectedly' message.
I've tried re-booting, fixing permissions, repairing the hard drive from the install disk, and re-installing 10.4.11 from the combo drive, all to no avail.
I did have a copy of my 10.4.10 system backed up on an seperate drive, and when I boot from that, printing works fine...
    Any suggestions?

Try Reset Printing System, a menu choice in Printer Setup Utility.

  • All apps shutting down when I try to print

Updated to 10.4.11 about 2 weeks ago. All seemed to be working fine. Haven't changed anything else. Suddenly, whenever I try to print from any app (Word, Text edit, Preview, etc.) the program just shuts down.
Rebooted several times, repaired permissions, and ran disk repair from install disk, no luck. I booted off my saved 10.4.10 version (saved on back up drive via 'SuperDuper)', and Print worked fine. Any ideas what might have cause this problem on my HD, and how to try and fix it?

Have you tried updating your printer drivers? Several other threads with the same issue have found that updating the drivers solved many of these problems. Another was deleting the custom printing prefs in your Library. If you can't find updated drivers, try http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3. Another thread found that this had a lot of drivers that fixed many of these issues as well.

  • GB shuts down when I try to print

I've been trying to print music notation. There are 4 different tracks and I've tried unsuccessfully to print pdfs of each track. Each time I try it simply shuts down. I've moved the tracks around. Renamed everything. Resaved everything. Changed some of the notes. Can't figure it out.
Anyone have this problem or know how I can print it. It's very important. THANKS.

Nice to know I'm not the only person having this issue.
I purchased Garageband 4 from the iLife '08 suite in the hopes that it would have its own print command. I'm happy to say that it does, but I'm not happy in the sense that I have basically upgraded for nothing. I cannot print any music in Garageband 08 - I can't even get a Preview window of the music sheet(s). This means that I must resort to my old method of printing music notation, which is extremely time-consuming.
The workaround? I take screenshot after screenshot and then edit the images in Photoshop or GIMP so that they are ready to be printed.
    That's basically it.
The rest of this reply is for anybody out there that knows what is wrong.
I have two printers. My HP Deskjet F380 All-in-one is connected directly via USB; the second one is an HP LaserJet 3015 that is connected to our home network. I can print in any other application except Garageband '08, which will self-quit with I try to print.

  • My programs keep shutting down when I try to print!!!

I have no clue what is going on. This is happening in both "word" and "pages". Typically I finish my work on my ibook (G4) then connect to my printer via USB to print when suddenly the program shuts down. Once this happens, the only way I can print the document is to copy the content, open a new document, paste the content on the new document, and then print. This is extremely frustrating. If anybody could help I would greatly appreciate it.

Try deleting print prefs - search for files that start with com.apple.print (File>Find) and delete them, then restart the Mac, then try printing.
