Something called SkyDrive on my computer

I have an HP Touchsmart 600 PC. It came set on British settings, which I changed to U.S. But there is something in the Windows Photo Gallery called Skydrive which says it will eliminate my pictures in June. I have no clue what Skydrive is. Do I simply need to attempt to move the pictures to a flash drive? I thought we had eliminated the Skydrive. I find any and all directions totally confusing. Sorry, I am not a Geek. Just wish stuff was simple. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Thanks for your reply back. So some common terms we can discuss. Your Hard drive is where all the files are typically stored. The operating system is there and all the applications work from there. They are located in folders and a good way to think of it is that your hard drive is like a big filing cabinet. In the filing cabinet there are drawers (applications within windows) and folders (well, they are like folders in the filing cabinet) A flash drive or thumb drive is a portable memory device that allows you to store files outside of your PC's hard drive. They plug into your USB port in the front or back of the PC and they have become much less expensive and bigger in size so many files can be copied to them. Once you've copied your pictures to the flash drive AND removed it from your PC, you won't have to worry about losing them via Skydrive. You can also create a backup copy of your files using the CD/DVD device your PC has so there's another method for backing up or saving the pictures. If all this seems complicated you can go out to a book store and get a book on PC operations that will help guide you through them. This information can probably be acquired via the internet as well. I just like having a book I can read, it's my preference. Another good thing is we have time between now and June 9th to ensure you can get your files backed up and saved. Get an external hard drive at least the same size as your internal hard drive, bigger is better. Use Time Machine to back up your files and applications. Once you've done that Start your computer from your original install disc, erase the hard drive and reinstall the original OS X and applications that came with your computer. Then start up using your Snow leopard install disc and upgrade the system to 10.6, run software update to get to 10.6.8 and restore your files and applications from your Time machine backup. Continue to use Time Machine to back up your computer regularly.
Apple's software will generally serve you well for everyday tasks like browsing and email, counting on unproven third party software to do the same tasks sometimes can give you headaches.

MPlayerX isn't itself the problem; it was downloaded from a source that packaged adware with it. Click here and follow the instructions, or if desired, run Adware Medic.

I recently updated Firefox and something called Fantistic Games has taken over my homepage and I can't get rid of it.

I used to get a field of 9 options to open when I opened a new page by clicking on the + button on the right side of the Search tab. After I updated Firefox a couple of days ago, my homepage had been taken over by something called "Fantasti Games". I can't find it anywhere to uninstall "Fantisti Games". I now have Google come up as my homepage when I open Mozilla Firefox, but each tab that I open comes up with the "FantastiGames" search engine. I need to get rid of that from my computer and revert back to what I had before, which was when I opened a new tab, I got nine large icons on the screen that gave me the choice of common sites to go to (such as AOL, YouTube, Weather.com, Google, etc.). Please tell me how to uninstall "FantastiGames".

This is embarrassing. It sounds like you have a third party program that has taken over your search engine, home page, and/or the default new tab page. Fortunately, this can be remedied easily:
# At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
# In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
# Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
# Click the remove button.
# Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.
After Firefox restarts, install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Search Reset Tool]. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. If you are using an unsecured or shared wireless network, then it could be just another user's computer name. If your sharing settings are correct, you have no worry. However, It would appear that at least some of the other user's settings are less than optimal inasmuch as his/hers is openly being displayed.
The next time you check into a hotel and use their wireless network, you are likely to see a number of other user's computers. Some just the name, as they share no files. While others are wide open, and their file sharing is on.

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation—not the mythical 10%, 15%, or any other percentage. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside a photo or iTunes library will corrupt the library. Changes to such a library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
Install the app in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password.
The application window will open behind other open windows. When you scan a volume, the window will eventually show all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.

I can not remove something called Sendori.

I have something called Sendori that will correct misspelled web pages. It's help site says to go to control panel add or remove programs and pick uninstall. The program does not show up in the list. When I search my entire computer from the search window in "start" it does not find any thing either. This is the link for misspelled "tigardirect" instead of "tigerdirect". Your help site does not have any entries for "sendori" either. Thanks for all help. I am using Firefox 5.0.

This might also be your ISP's way of protecting you from mistyping. If it is try to change your DNS servers to googles dns servers. I had the same thing happen to me and it was just the ISP.

Satellite A100: audio stream recorder requires something called stereo mix

Trying to use an audio stream recorder/convertor program but it requires something called "stereo mix". The toshiba A100 does not appear to have this?? Help?
Tried downloading latest drivers from Tosh site for Realtek sound card but this has not made a difference.

Here's how to fix the problem.
1. You need a new driver in order to control the input signal given by any hardware (CD) or virtual source (WinAmp, streaming radio etc.). The driver you need is called Virtual Audio Cable that's able to connect and loop back any audio signal between any devices on your computer. 2. After instalation read and follow the "Simple cable usage" part of the manual very carefully and you're ready to record on your virtual recorder from any source you want. Please notice you have to have the "Audio repeater" open (and started) in order to hear the output on your computer speakers. If you have set up the Virtual Cable 1 to control your audio input, it should be chosen as Wave in in the Audio Repeater and Realtek HD Audio output should be chosen as Wave out. This is set automatically if you In control panel/sounds and devices/devices chose Virtual Cable 1 as standard device for record of sounds instead of Realtek HD Audio input and Realtek HD Audio output as standard device for playing sound.
3. Virtual Audio Cable mix any audio input including the Windows sounds. Select no sounds in Control panel/Sound and devices/sounds if you don't want to mix Windows sounds with your recording.
4. Advanced functions: You can manipulate and optimize the sound quality in the cable and audio repeater setup.

PS. I have proved that my Satelite A100 can do the same as any other Windows computer with the Realtek driver instaled. It's the first time I have purchased third party software in order to get basic Windows sound functions to work.

Something called "network" in Finder

There's something called "Network" showing up in Finder that I never saw before in My Computer, no info, no ability to move, etc.

This is a normal thing to see. Network is a visual to show other computers connected to your Mac. If you are sharing over a LAN it will appear in Finder. If you are not connected to any other devices and you don't wish to see it in Finder, open Finder Preferences, Sidebar and deselect the Device that shows your computer. This will remove it from the sidebar and the Network icon also.

If the software doesn't have an uninstall feature, quit Safari and try manually removing the third-party add-on files. These files are usually installed in one or more of the following locations:

The first four locations listed are in the root-level Library on your hard disk, not the user-level Library in your Home folder.The tilde (~) represents your Home folder.

Yeah that works, but, it involves a click on the event, a click on edit, a click on the date, keystrokes, plus, since you can't see the next month you have to have a calendar in front of you so as to put it to the right date. It's easier just to cut it and advance the month and paste it, once you are in the right month you can move it around helter skelter willy nilly no problems. Although now that you mention it I will try it, maybe it is easier than cut and paste as I don't really care about the date, as long as it gets moved into the right month I can drag it around all I want.
