Something conflicting with Adobe Flash that won't allow email attachments in gmail

Something conflicting with Adobe Flash that won't allow email attachments in gmail
I have been speaking with senior techs in the google forum, and they suggested I post here.  There is something about my computer settings or security software is  conflicting with Adobe Flash.
I did a clean install of both Flash 10 and Firefox 3.5.7 (I uninstalled the previous versions).
The problem is with gmail.  I get the error message when  attaching files:
"Attachment failed. This may be due to a proxy or  firewall."
Any ideas???
Using Firefox 3.5.7
Using MAC  OS 10.4.11
Using Flash 10
I do not have security software, proxy or firewall settings.
I started a question in these forums:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/gmail/thread?fid=791ff1130e2fc23100047e95d237082a&hl =en
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/554629?

So if your not using a Flash app, not running a flash program, and you are using a browser on a remote mailserver, why would you think Flash is the issue?
Secondly if you are not using the Flash CS3/4 program somewhere in the loop, than you would be better served in the Flash Player forum, this is a Flash Developers forum. Sounds more like gmail may use some flash components to display something, but should not have an effect on file transfer unless your Flash settings deny it. You have to allow local content from being run with active x/flash.

  • Caution: something wrong with "adobe flash player"

Why all this people include me have so so many PROBLEMS with "adobe flash player" I never ever have problem to install on my windows7 64-bit anything til NOW!!!! Please, help and make it easy for everybody and avoid this confusion.WE ALL wants this work without taking our time.
Thank you so much for your time
    Peace

Hi jh, I understand what you posted. However you are speaking of two different things. You said you had a 64bit Windows
computer. Now, with that computer, already built in, you have a 32bit also. What you are speaking of is different. You just posted the question if a computer that is ONLY a 32bit, can it be upgraded to a 64bit. No it cannot and what you posted is
    correct.
Think of it this way, you have IE as your browser with your Windows computer, now you also have Firefox as a browser,
right? You have a 64bit computer and Microsoft INCLUDED a 32bit already installed in it. You can use the computer using
the 32bit or you can run it using the 64bit, just like you use your 2 different browsers.
Now did you do what I asked you to do? Please do that so we can get this settled! After you do that I have something
    else for you to do.
    Thanks,

As it Internet Explorer 7 is getting some resistance from any conflicting software installed. Upon running the IE7 at no-adds-on-mode I have identifed two such applications., (i) Roxio Drive Letter Access BHO. and  (ii) Adobe Flash Player 10 Activex. Thanks, I'm curious to find out what's different. I've repair disk permissions again using the one in Disk Utility instead of Cocktail with not luck As far as I can tell, all my issues seem to be occurring solely on www.adultswim.com and is sill happening with Camino, Firefox, Safari, and SWF & FLV Player. I'll keep checking other sites to see if the problem manifests itself elsewhere and I'll post any other changes I make to my system that might appear to help.

  • Potential Java conflict with Adobe Flash Player 10?

I applied the Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 1 to my MBP 10.6.2 today and noted a problem that didn't exist before with streaming flash video. When I connect to http://www.adultswim.com and select any flash content to play, all I get is a flashing screen alternating between black and white. I see the problem in Safari, Firefox, Camino, and SWF & FLV Player. An additional symptom noted is that if I access the flash control panel while viewing the flickering screen, I lose control of the panel and cannot close it or change anything. I've been out to Adobe's site and verified that I'm running the latest Flash Player version, 10,0,32,18. I've also run Cocktail and reset permissions just in case. I've not seen this problem on YouTube or any of the content provide by Adobe on their Flash Player page yet.
One additional note, I can launch Windows 7 in Parallels and not have the problem with IE, Safari, and Firefox. Also, my wife's laptop, identical to mine BUT without the Java update does not have this problem at all.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone have suggestions on where to begin troubleshooting this issue or maybe have a potential solution?
    Regards

  • RealPlayer conflict with Adobe Flash Player

Hello. I recently downloaded the latest Adobe Flash Player 10.1.53.64. Immediately after, when trying to play a RealPlayer Version 11.0.1 (949) file I got a warning message ‘Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation ... RealPlayer is trying to communicate with this internet enabled location.’ Having clicked on Settings I could play the RP file but could not manipulate as before — ie stop pause restart etc. In other words Adobe — has apparently hijacked my RealPlayer stuff. I need Flash for the BBC iPlayer so I uninstalled and reinstalled but got same result. Any ideas please, pref with copy to email below?

  • HP Solution Center conflict with Adobe Flash Player

I have an HP Deskjet F2210 Printer and when I installed the most recent upgrade of Adobe Flashplayer the hp solution center would not open. I uninstalled the flash player and hp solution center. I then reinstalled the solution center and it runs fine. I installed the flash player again with same results. Is there a fix for this conflict?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

As the Flash Player has been installed or upgraded later then the HP Solution Center, it may ause this conflicting.
    Please try the following Steps:
    1. Insert your printer installation disk and cancel any installation if it will automaticaly begin.
    2. Enter My Computer, right-click your CD Driver and then click browse.
    3. Enter the Setup folder.
    4. Enter the SolutionCenter folder underneath and locate the SolutionCenter.msi file (will have different icon then any other on that folder).
    5. Right click the file, then click Repair.
Accept any alert during that installation and reboot your PC when done.
Now check if the Solution Center may be launched again.
If you have installed it from the web, run the downloaded installation package to extract its content, then close any opened window.
click Start > Run, type %temp% and accept.
locate a the latest folder starting with 7Z (you may have several, simply locate the latest one by checking the Change date)... it will contain the HP installation folder.
    Then continue from step3 above.
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos thumb up in the post.
If my post resolve your problem please mark it as an Accepted Solution

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
Apps that can display some Flash from the Web:
    Puffin
    SkyFire
    Photon Flash
    Browse2Go
    iSwifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

I'm looking for a capture device that is compatible with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder. I bought elgato but it is not compatible. Anyone know?

This is just a shot in the dark....
Do you have all your devices hooked up (and on) when you launch FMLE?  For example -- your camera or digitizer?  When FMLE launches it will try to launch with the last known settings... including input devices.  If it can't find these devices (they're not hooked up and on) it can crash, although in most situations it will simply show a default screen with default settings.
If you do have your equipment hooked up (and on) when you launch FMLE, try unplugging them and then launching FMLE so that it opens up in default configuration mode (no input devices selected; all default settings).  Then uncheck the "preview" boxes for both your input and output preview windows.  Close FMLE and then plug in your equipment (and turn it on) and relaunch FMLE.  I offer this suggestion as FMLE can sometimes act funny when the preview windows are open with certain types of input devices.  Don't worry -- you don't have to keep the preview windows off forever.  If you can get FMLE to successfully launch with the preview windows off, then you can set your settings however you like and save the profile.  Then quit and relaunch FMLE and then turn the preview windows back on and see if it works.  If it does, great.  Just be aware that making any settings changes while the preview windows are open could result in FMLE crashing.   Again -- this only happens with some capture devices, such as certain Dazzle capture boxes.
If none of this works, you could always try to upgrade to FMLE 3.2 and see if that solves your problem.

Restart with the Option key held down and see if the internal drive appears.
If it does, click on it, press Enter, and then change the setting in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences or the Startup Disk control panel.
If it doesn't, insert a Mac OS install CD or DVD and use the Disk Utility or Disk First Aid to repair the internal drive. If there aren't any problems, install an OS onto it.

  • Problem with adobe flash player on my new computer

I bought a new computer window 8 and as you know adobe flash player is already installed but now flash player won't play some videos on the windows 8 internet exploer unless i swicthed it to the desktop. when i try to watch it says i need to install flash player but i have flash player that says on windows 8. so i there any way i can watch my videos?

This reply is to both of you trying to help me through my ordeal with Adobe Flash Player.  I followed both of your advices to no avail. I even enlisted the help of my husband to see if I was doing something wrong or missing a step. He assured me I was doing everything by the book.
    Well, bottom line is number
1: I never found "Extensions Adds ons and Plug Ins" in Firefox. I looked everywhere and it's simply not on my screen. I opened everything, looked at every line, every box, every space (with my husband next to me looking also).
Number 2: I got a message that reads: Firefox prevented this site (get Adobe.com) from asking you to install software on your computer.
By the way, I uninstalled Webroot at the beginning and never reinstalled it. Restarted my computer. Tried all the steps you guys suggested, restarted my computer I don't know how many times.
One time I got Adobe Flash Player installed "successfully" and then I got excited and tried YouTube, videos on Facebook, CNN and guess what? Nothing. No Adobe Flash Player.
By the way, my husband has the same problem at his work computer. He got an Information Systems technician to work on this and voila! he could not fix the problem either. Any other suggestions out there? If anybody from Adobe reading this?
To say I am fed up is putting it mildly. I am so mad at Adobe for putting this piece of garbage out there.  I can only compare it to Vista.
Oh by the way, I keep getting this notice that my" windows drivers are out of date" and guess what?  I have no idea which ones because they don't say. I checked my updates and supposedly I am up to date. I went to Microsoft and they have a million, so how am I supposed to know which ones?
I am also upset at Microsoft, ha, ha.
I am going to bed, tomorrow will be another day.

  • Adobe Flash Player won't stop asking to install.

I'm using windows 7 and Mozilla firefox, but this problem happens even when I don't have a browser window opened.
Adobe flash player won't quit asking to install. probably once a minute i receive a (UAC)request to allow adobe flash player to install. Even with no browser windows open. EVEN WHILE I AM WATCHING FLASH VIDEOS, it is telling me to install it. It literally interupts everything I am doing, even when I'm not browsing the internet.
I currently have it completely uninstalled as far as i know. I used the adobe uninstaller available on this site. So there's no flash player or shockwave player installed on my computer... still receiving this request every minute or so.
    It's ridiculous.
I tried running a virus scan, because thats the only thing I could possibly think of that would be this irritating, and it says that my computer is clean.
Is there some secret files somewhere I need to delete? I'm thinking of deleting the activex install files. I keep getting "The ActiveX Installer (AxInstSV) service entered the running state." in my event viewer, which seem to coincide with this issue.

I finally got it fixed but I'm not sure what fixed it.
    here's everything i did:
    Uninstalled all browsers.
    Uninstalled all adobe stuff.
    Uninstalled Java
Deleted anything left behind (i left browser stuff though because i wanted it to save my passwords and such).
disabled activexsvinst or something service. The activex installer service.
Used CC cleaner to clean up registry
Made sure to delete almost everything in user/local/temp folders and such (where adobe and java store stuff usually. I dunno might want to be careful doing this cause i dont know if there's important files there. Also some folders won't let you delete it but that just means you have to go inside the folder and select all then delete. The only file that should be in one of thosetemp folders is like fxsapidebug or something, in my opinion.)
    rebooted
    ran CC cleaner again.
    rebooted
not sure if this helped but i also used HIJACKTHIS and uninstalled some browser helpers that didnt get deleted. In particular there was an adobe one i think. Cant really remember tho. Now that i look at hijackthis again, it couldn't have been this because the browsers helper stuff is still there.
I also ran about 500000000 virus scans with multiple scanning programs and none of them detected anything.
I've reinstalled Mozilla and flash and haven't had any problems since.
Hope this helps anybody else with the same problem.

  • Windows vista - IE 7 - problem with adobe flash player

last week I bought a notebook with MS vista home premium,
    after some hours of
enthusiasm I had problems with adobe flash player.
Accessing to some sites I receiveed the requested to install
flash player, I did it and even if the installation seemed
ended fine I always got the pop up with the request to
install Flash player, as if it were not previously installed.
I did a boot after every installation.
    I read your forum on:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=44&catid=184&threadid =1262552&enterthread=y
and I tried to follow some suggestions reported on it , like
uninstall the flash player using the
downloaded uninstall program from adobe site then I tried to
    reinstall flash player “as administrator”
but always the installation appeared to end fine, the
programs was present into macromed flash directory
but I continue to receive the pop up to install flash player,
    moreover some
images commonly shown when I visit the same sites from
another PC with XP are not shown on the new
pc with Vista, I think that also this problem could be
connected to flash player not well installed
One of these sites is www.rossoalice.it or youtube.
At this point, I think that the problem can be on the
registry but I don’t know what I can check.
I sow on the above adobe forum that mr. Darren J. McNally was
involved in this kind of problem,
every your suggestions will be very appreciated.

  • What is Fast1 and why is it installing along with Adobe Flash?

I just updated Adobe Flash and when that was done, I found that File1 Package Manager had also installed and had launched and was in turn attempting to update other software.  Pressing "cancel" did nothing, and when I went into the Task Manager (using ctl-alt-del) and clicked on "end process" I got an error message that I did not have authorization to end the process.  Eventually it ended on its own, but WTF?  It looks like malware: downloading, installing, and running all without my knowledge or consent. A full system scan with Microsoft Security Essentials, but I'm not sure if that would detect malware.
This seems to be something new, i.e. when I Googled it, there was almost nothing out there about it.  I did find one forum on which mine was the first question, and several other people responded that they had the same experience.
One of two things would seem to be going on.  Either the adobe.com web site has been hacked and malware is riding in on product updates, or the Adobe corporation has agreed to install Fast1 along with its products and just isn't telling its customers.  (I was very carteful to watch for boxes to uncheck as I went through the update.  There weren't any.)

Question: What is file 1 package manager ?
A: “File1 Package Manager (Ant App service)  is a program developed by Helios Technologies. The software adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. The specfic verbage from the file 1 wesite ( http://www.file1.com/ ) states---
"File1.com Package Manager is a handy tool for managing all your programs  within one space. It provides a user with a list of programs already  installed and those available for installation. With Package Manager you  can easily upgrade, install or uninstall all of our proposed software  on the site. File1.com is a freeware guide that provides the best free software which  is absolutely safe. It means no additional programs you do not know  about, no malware, spyware, or viruses. "
Q: Why is file 1  installing with adobe flash?
A: It shouldn't if you are downloading and installing manually from the adobe.com. If you download adobe from a third party website this could be the reason. If you are on a shared computer, it may have been downloaded to your computer to obtain many of the free software it offers. If this is the case File1 may have auto updated your adobe flash
    Extras:
You can uninstall File1 Package Manager from your computer by using the Add/Remove Program feature in the Window's Control Panel.
    A.
    A.    A. On the Start menu (for Windows 8, right-click the screen's bottom-left corner), click Control Panel, and then, under Programs, do one of the following:
    1.    Windows Vista/7/8: Click Uninstall a Program
    2.    Windows XP: Click Add or Remove Programs.
    B.  When you find the program File1 Package Manager, click it, and then do one of the following:
    1.Windows Vista/7/8: Click Uninstall.
2.Windows XP: Click the Remove or Change/Remove tab (tothe right of the program).
