Something fell into the vent of my Macbook Pro.
I'm not sure if it is the vent, but the area between the hinge of my screen and the body. A small piece of plastic fell inside and well, let's just say I didn't see anything come out when I turn the hinge facing downwards and shook it lightly.
does it need to be removed? If so, how?
I should defiantly be removed.
Try locating the piece of plastic, get a torch and shine it into the vents. You might find is easier to close the lid of your laptop and then shine the torch into the vent.
If you can see the piece of plastic then try shake the computer gently to see if it moves. If it does not move then you could try poking it with something thin, however I would not recommend this!
If you can not locate the piece of plastic and you cant hear any rattling and it does not come out after a good shake then you could either leave it and hope for the best or take it to the apple store and they will be able to take it apart and have a look for you. Again, you could take the computer apart yourself but I would not recommend it.
I hope this helps.

It seems like there is something wrong with the USB of retina macbook pro
My mac is macbook pro with retina. It seems like there is something wrong with the USB. It cannot detect my amazon kindle, IBM CD driver and mp3 player, though it works well with U Disk and HDD. I don't know why.

There is something running in the background of my MacBook Pro
There is an air fan noise running on my mac all the time. Also it is sucking my battery life down bad, it sounds as if something is running in the background of my computer. How do I fix this?
It is a good idea to include the machine type and OS version in your problem posts.
Run Activity Monitor, select ll processes, and order by CPU usage. -
I have plugged a portable battery to the USB and my macbook pro stopped working after that, right before it shut down there was a message on the screen that said something like " USB device is withdrawing so much power, please disconnect and connect again?
if the device I connected have caused this, shouldn't the macbook itself have some type of protection that should prevent this from happening.
because when I took it to an apple certified maintenance shop, the guy said that now it could only run while connected to the power. it won't run on batteries. and that I have to change the motherboard.
can I just replace the damaged part only, would apple consider this as a design issue and they could pay for it, or should I just buy a new motherboard for 800$.
Help.BB1B2,
The problem is in finding a tech shop that will/can do board level repairs on Macs. They are few. And I certainly wouldn't spend $800 on a new logic board - I would replace the computer if I had to pay that much!
You could call around to a few repair shops and see if they feel competent to isolate the problem and do a board level repair - but I'm afraid, in the end, that your search will be futile.
Sorry,

How can I transfer a small batch of photos from the new ipad to macbook pro? In theory, I should be able to keep my albums together this way (once uploaded to macbook pro, i can easily file them into a new album on macbook pro.) Not working for me! Macbook pro does include iphoto. I had no problem uploading ALL photos (3 or 4,000.) Help! Goal is to keep albums together.
Hi all,
Goal: Backing up photos!
Hope: Transfer ALBUMS from ipad to external drive (via macbook pro)
Is this possible? Or will I have to create a file name for each of my thousands of photos?
UGH!

My iPod Touch Fell Into The Tub!
My iPod Touch fell into the tub. Within 1 to 2 seconds I got it out immediately. It was on when it fell into the tub. After retreiving it I set it on the floor and turned it off. After completing my errands I set it on the nearby stand. As I was finishing up I saw a flash of light go on and off. For the last couple of days I thought it was just completely dead until I figured out that if you press the "home/menu" button and swipe your hand where the "unlock screen" should be you hear the click. You can also hear the click when I turn my iPod off. Also, I have put it in extreme lighting and tilted it a certain way and could see the home menu with all the different apps. You have to strain to see that. I could make out the utilities button and clicked on it to see if adjusting the brightness would help anything. It is up the whole way and it doesn't make a difference. The screen is still as dark as can be. I clicked on the music button and chose the nearest song and it played perfectly. I have also clicked on apps and you can hear the noise even though the screen is so dark that you have to strain to see anything and put it under the brightest light in the world. Please help!!! I'm not exactly sure what the problem is exactly. The screen isn't cracked or anything like that.
THINGS THAT HAVE NOT WORKED ON FIXING MY IPOD
1. Nearest Apple Store is WAY out of my way.
2. Tried adjusting the brightness.
3. Put in a bowl of uncooked rice. (I'm sure there wasn't any water in it to begin with.)
4. Pressed home/menu button and sleep/power button at same time and 8 to 15 seconds in released sleep/power button while still holding the home button and released.
5. Updating iTunes software.Even though you don't believe water enter into it, the fact that it's not working properly confirms that it did get wet inside. It apears that the LCD panel backlight is not functioning. the only cure for this is to have the LCD panel replaced. Hopefully nothing else will fail later due to the water damage. Hope this Helps.

one of the key on my macbook pro is not working properly, can it be fixed by a cleaning spray or something. there is lot of dust in where I live and thought that might be the culprit. thanks Jason
Don't use any cleaning spray. Wipe with a moist but not wet microfiber cloth.
1. Reset SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Yes. You can use one of a higher wattage, just not a lower wattage.

my iphone fell into the toilet so i am trying to use my imessage app on my mac to text my friends and it is saying my password is invalid.
Is there anyway to fix that or reset the password for it? ThanksHello jthompsonn25,
I'm sorry to hear about your iPhone and the issues you are having with Messages on your Mac. If you are trying to send iMessage messages in Messages, your iMessage account should be tied to your Apple ID (same account name and password). If you are having password issues in Messages, you may want to verify that you have the correct password by logging in to your Apple ID directly:
Apple - My Apple ID
If you are unable to or are still getting an error message with your password, you may need to reset the password on your Apple ID. If that is the case, you may find the following article helpful:

my iPhone 5 fell into the water and a writing like that appeared with the apple sign. (when its turning on) but it is now a gray screen and it is not working, nor can i connect it to my laptop.
You're seriously trying to use an electronic device that's been in contact with water????
You do know that since th beginning of time water and electricity don't mix, right?
Start being smart and top trying to use it NOW, and put it in a bag of rice for a week.
